I come here for quick lunches and today was no different. Although slightly crowded, food was ready fast, a young man came around and wiped down tables, food was great. Tonino's pizza has a great flavor and a crisp crust. The Italian sub tasted much better than the bland looks suggest. While eating, a trooper came in and ordered food to go. I went in by myself for a quick Stromboli while I was out that way for other reasons. The girl taking my order answered the phone in the middle of my order. The traditional Stromboli comes with pepperoni, ham, and cheese. I asked to omit the ham and just to put a lot of pepperoni in it. There was very minimal meat, it was slightly burnt, the crust had no flavor, and it took 40 minutes to make. Also, they packed it up to go, even though I was planning to eat in the store. I couldn't indicate one way or another because the girl was on the phone while taking my order. The second star is because they were generous with the cheese. Haha. The store itself has a door on both side sides of the restaurant, so there's nowhere to sit that you won't get blasted with cold air when someone comes in on a chilly day. I ate with my coat on. Always enjoyed Tonino's on Progress and 22 so figured give this one a go. Really good pizza, particularly their Margarita. Appreciate that they don't skimp on cheese for their Margarita like so many other pizza joints do. The pepperoni pizza is a little more oily than I would prefer however. Place is pretty clean and easy to move around it, parking is ample which is always nice. Next time I go I want to check out their subs but can say their pizzas are worth a try. read more

We were staying in the area for a few days and this location was referred to us by the hotel staff. We ordered our meal as takeout and did so online. I ordered the Pittsburgh Steak Salad with parmesan vinaigrette dressing, pepperoni rolls, and a veal parmesan sub. It was ready in about 30 minutes. The salad was huge!! As much as I like salad, I could only eat about half. It was packed with meat, and french fries...exactly what I was hoping for. Absolutely delicious. The pepperoni rolls were equally good. Imagine a garlic knot stuffed with pepperoni. The marinara sauce to dip them in was not too chunky and very flavorful. The veal parm sub was a good size and an excellent choice. Prices were fair and the selection was large. I would definitely keep coming back here and trying new things. read more

I've eaten pizza from this location for years. While I have satisfied -- for years -- quality has unfortunately slipped. Today, I ordered a Sicilian pie online, and when I got there to pick it up, they were already mopping the floors with chairs on the tables (I'm guessing that they were closing early because it was a holiday). To my surprise, the pizza was already boxed and sitting on top of the oven even though I arrived before the anticipated pick-up time. I took it home (a very short drive) and found it to be cooled down. Additionally, the crust was soggy, limp, and tasted greasy. It was nowhere near as crispy as you would expect a Sicilian pizza to be. I have no doubt that it was not made fresh, but was made earlier in the day for slices from the display case and was left over at the end of the day. They didn't even put it in the oven long enough to warm-up completely or crisp the bottom. It was pretty much inedible. Very disappointing, and a $20 waste of money. I meant to order from the one on Erford Rd. And then I realized that I didn't. I was so upset. But then I got the pizza. We ordered a Sicilian with Pepperoni and Mushroom. And then a large Xtra Cheese and large Xtra Cheese with Pepperoni. That Sicilian was awesome. Way better than I expected. Airy. Cooked perfectly. Good sauce. Cheese ratio was right. I love Tonino's! Everything here is delicious. I usually go with their salads - either buffalo chicken, balsamic chicken or Greek. The salads are very large and come with two pieces of pizza cheesey bread. They sell pizza by the slice and have a TON of options. I will say if you arrive close to opening, they sometimes have limited options for slices. The subs are also good and filling. This place is fantastic. The pizza is delish. The margherita pizza is the closest I've seen in the states to what I used to get in Europe. The salads are huge and amazing too. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have had in YEARS! The Pittsburgh salad was a lump of Steak Um's dumped in a heap on top of bitter lettuce. Under meat was the hidden cucumbers and onions I specifically asked to be eliminated! A tiny dribble of cheese and 14 fries dropped in top. 3.5 for this location because of some things I've noticed here in the 2 times I've visited but they're a good family of business. I LOVE Tonino's on 22 and from what I understand - this is the son. The food is of the standards of the other Tonino's I frequent but it has some things that could be tweaked in my opinion. First of all - Everything I have gotten is SUPER salty. Like bring my blood pressure up salty. It's SO good but just needs to lighten up on the salt. Also their house dressing is way over cheesed. I had like an inch of parmesan cheese with a line of oil and it was not good on my salad. Another thing was that the one guy sneezed into his hand and wiped it on a napkin and then proceeded to take money and make food without washing his hands. NO!!!! Anyway the food is really good at Tonino's in general. And this location can be there too and hopefully will be there. They're new so I'll give them that. I'll keep giving them a chance because I love Tonino's at home and when I am in CampHill and need my fix I'll keep hoping they get it right and will update. read more

I don't normally have issues with this place, but recently I ordered a large pizza with bacon, jalapeno and pineapple.... The pizza was so watery, half the pizza got soggy and the toppings poured over the edge of the crust. The fact that they have a credit card minimum was annoying, but there are bigger problems here. The place was not clean, the floors were dirty and all the tables needed wiped. There was no salt on the table, went to 2 other tables before I found a shaker on a 3rd, the salt wouldn't come out though. The pizza was just average, a little soggy and greasy. What a fantastic pizza place! Fast and delicious, it's perfect for those on the go or looking to sit down for a delicious bite in a comfortable, at home, atmosphere. The manager, Andrew, was exceptionally friendly in helping us make our decision, and really went out of the way to let us experience everything they had to offer. It's so nice to go into a new restaurant, feel so welcome, and leave with a nice overly-stuffed belly haha :). Went here for lunch on a Friday. It wasn't too busy, but it wasn't empty. I had a beer (IPA!) with the buffalo chicken pizza. The beer was pretty solid, I would definitely recommend it. They have dozens of taps with different things and you can also get cans to go! The pizza was really good. The crust is AMAZING. However it wasn't baked long enough and the cheese at the center of the pizza wasn't melted all the way. I would stop here again if I was in the area. read more
