Hands down one of the very few decent Indian restaurants in buffalo. Banana leaf in Clarence remains my favorite because it's South Indian food and not the same Indian food you get everywhere. But I digressed. Taj Grill serves up your typical Punjabi food (North Indian). Samosas are huge and full of potatoes and peas which I love. They do make attempts at South Indian food like their Goan fish masala which is actually fantastic. The only issue is for the price you pay there's barely enough fish vs curry. Their version of butter chicken is interesting. Although it tastes great don't get me wrong, it's not really butter chicken. The flavor yet alone the color of the dish is not your typical butter chicken. The manager, oh man is he a handsome guy! read more

Taj is our favorite! Whether we dine in or get takeout everything is delicious, fresh and hot! Our go to items are...lamb samosas (best ever), chicken makhani (med), tandoori chicken and garlic naan (of course). Last time we got to try the chicken chili (hot) this dish is what dreams are made of. Don't even get me started on the mint chutney...it is so amazing that I order a big container to go and I eat it on everything for a week...yes it's that good. I'm not a huge fan of spicy food so I was weary when friends suggested Indian. Taj Grill was surprisingly amazing, a little bit of a kick but so flavorful it was worth it! Chicken Tikka Masala was phenomenal. They give you a decent portion of rice to put the masala on top of. I had mine with garlic naan - wish I got more than one piece of naan cause it was really delicious. I also tried the paneer appetizer. I recommend dipping it in the masala sauce! read more

I usually judge the quality of an Indian place by testing two dishes. The Chicken Biryani and the Tikka Masala dishes. From all the Greater Buffalo Indian places I have tried out (which is quite a few) Taj Grill has the yummiest Chicken Biryani and the Chicken Tikka Masala. My only criticism is that the Chicken Biryani does tend to be a little oily and that's probably one of the reasons why it tastes so good. Also, some days, the Biryani doesn't have cashews in it (maybe a different chefs?). But overall, this is our bi-weekly, go-to place for Indian food. read more

We went here on a Friday night in a group of four and it wasn't too busy. My husband had been here before for the lunch buffet and said the food was good. We got the "Taj Sampler" which had 4-5 different types of samosa and potoato pancakes and other appetizers. The waiter was knowledgeable and explained everything on the menu well. We also got Naan bread with chilis and the other we couple we were with got the garlic Naan. Both were good, the Naan with chilis was mild and good. The four of us got four different chicken dishes-- Chicken Roman Josh, Chicken Xacutti, Makjani, and Kashmiri. The waiter brought a table of basmati rice to share, and the separate chicken dishes came on silver platters. Everyone enjoyed their food and we had plenty of leftovers after sharing the Taj sampler. The waiter brought another platter of rice to bring home with the leftovers, which was nice. I only took a star off because their website is a little misleading--it lists the dinner hours for everyday and the buffet price but does not specifically say that the dinner buffet is only available on Tuesday nights. When you visit the restaurant, there is a clear sign that says Tuesday night buffet but I wish the website specifically stated this because we went on a Friday night expecting a buffet. read more

This is my second time here and it was better than the first (or at least way more memorable). My knowledge of Indian food is minimal so I won't be able to mention any of the dishes in the buffet except for Butter Chicken. But... Wow, amazing! Oh it is very nice here-good service, great parking being in Delaware Ave plaza, and seemingly plenty of seating these days. We went prime time on a Sat night and it appeared more orders were being picked up for take out than people dining in so we practically had the place to ourselves! As appetizer I had the Samosa's and the Bhajia (veggie fried fritters ), and tried my one friend's fish pakora-the Indian version of fish fry bites so to speak-was so good! And tried my other friend's samosa/Tikka or Papsidero chat: you wanna know what this is?! I had no clue and now I do!!! it's the equivalency of an Indian Garbage plate!!!! -really good-give it a try-but ps it is served cold . Also please please do not go to an Indian restaurant and not order some naan bread, Its a thing, you just must. We got the garlic naan 2 portions and that seeming was enough for 3 people but please, you can never have too much and make sure your dipping it in Raita (homemade yogurt with cucumbers and tomatoes) (similar to at a Greek place having pita and tzatziki sauce). Now can I tell ya what to order that's good.... Um if you like Indian and know your favs I am very confident you'll be satisfied with the dish's here , as for ME-I love Bhartha Paneer, it's eggplant, homemade cheese, and their special sauce, it's hard to explain how unique and delicious those cheese chunks are in the sauce but let me tell you-fantabulous! It's definitely a dish that comes with white rice that you just throw on your rice and eat like a madman because it's so damn good! Also don't be afraid of the green sauce and the red chutney sauce they put on your table! Why their green sauce so god dam green here-I do not know but both great! I throw them on everything I eat-especially all the fried appys I get. As for Spice level-I always say medium no matter where I go, not afraid of heat, and I will say their med heat idk, seemed a bit mild for me but who cares-it was so good! As for drinks at Indian restaurants haha for some reaaaason I often am drawn to a nice cheap glass of white Zinfandel, but here! At Taij! The wino I am, I couldn't resist getting a carafe of their Pinot - you know it's like yes I could drink a whole bottle but ya don't wanna be that one when out at a restaurant, so the carafe it's the acceptable next best thing . And their chai tea is cozy-try it please! But put sugar in it to get the full affect of its sweetness potential . I'm glad I returned (though I did not identify myself to obtain freebies--I don't believe in that, having worked professionally as a restaurant reviewer). My first visit here must have been an off night. The food and service were much better the second time, and I believe probably reflect the way they consistently perform. The atmosphere was comfortable. Our water glasses were never empty, and we were often asked if we wanted refills of tea. The samosas and eggplant pakora we had as apps were delicious. For the main course, we had two lamb dishes (including xacutti, with coconut cooked into the sauce, which was yummy)--both with tender meat--and very good chicken tikka masala. They will customize the spice level for you, and advise on their many gluten-free options. We would have liked to try a dessert, but we were stuffed, and still had leftovers to take home.I look forward to trying their biryani. Overall, the best cuisine from the Indian subcontinent that I have had in Western New York. I have been here several times. This time we all opted for the $11.95 buffet. There are several vegetarian dishes, several chicken dishes and, on this occasion, one beef dish. There is also a dessert buffet. I did not partake as quite satisfied with the main course offerings. There was a sweet potato dish that was quite flavorful. The beef dish was in a lot of spinach; it looked a lot like creamed spinach, with some bites of beef. The chicken dishes were a spicy curry , a tandoori and one more that was nicely spicy. I cannot recall the names of the vegetable dishes. There were 5 or 6. Of course there is slightly seasoned white rice too. Flat bread was brought to the table. I do not think it was Naan bread; it looked and tasted like pita. It is a very nice buffet and a good value for the money. I think the buffet is also offered at dinnertime for a couple of dollars more. There may be more meat choices then too. read more

We were there on a Tuesday evening for buffet. We were a total of 5 people. The buffet price is 15.95 but the total bill came out to be $98. We asked how 5 buffet costing $15.95 each would total out to be $98. The manager at hand said the gratitude of $12 was already included, but it was not on the bill. The restaurant tried to loot money from us and the food was also just okay, nothing special. On top, a server was constantly staring at us. A big no to the place. read more

I have to agree with previous reviewers, the butter chicken was extremely sa-weet! But, eatin with the rice and naan it wasn't so bad. I don't mean that wrong, I had the butter chicken with rice, garlic naan and lamb samosas. Thr Samosas we very good the smell as I broke open the crazy flakey crust was devine. The taste was good aswell. Although the naan was really thin the garlic and cilantro ( i don't like cilantro at all) was really very goo. Now, back to the Butter chicken. The sauce was a little sticky, almost like a bbq sauce- consistency- tasting it by its self yes extremely sweet. But I pushed forward a bit of rice, piece of chicken in sauce folded into my naan and ah there it is, not bad, not what I'm used to but a good variation. I'd definitely go back, if I'm in that area. I do think it was quiet pricey for the amount you get. I feel like I do need to say this though, if i was brought this as take away(which I did) and got all the way home (a good 15 mins away) I would've been very disappointed. I would have eaten it. Terrible. The food tastes like they poured a pound of sugar in it. I was so excited and looked so forward to eating here but unfortunately the food was so underwhelming. I got extra hot chicken madras, it was so sweet I could hardly even eat it, absolutely no heat. The samosa chaat was ice cold and also very very sweet. The garlic naan was good, but not the best. There are so many great Indian places around here that has a lot more flavor and brings the heat, Will not return. read more

2 Times a week I try and eat vegetarian and avoid meat. No better place to that than at Taj Grill. Tons of flavorful and fresh Indian dishes to choose from. We have been to Taj Grill for the buffet dinner on Tuesday nights at different times (between 6-8pm) and it is always packed! The crowd is extremely diverse and with a large Indian population - so I'm assuming that the food is pretty authentic. There is also a huge spread. Out of all the Indian buffets I have been to - I would say Taj Grill has the most to offer. At least 2-3 different types of chicken curry, beef/lamb/goat, and various vegetables. I have never had any room for dessert so I'm not sure what they have - I think I remember seeing rice pudding, jello, fruit and maybe some small pastries? They have a pretty good beer selection as well as a full bar. And like most other Indian buffets - you get fresh naan delivered to the table. The food is always good, we always waddle outta there, and the price ($14.95) is always worth the quantity and quality of the food you get unless you show up super late and they've already run out of things. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is due to service. Out of all the times we were there, I don't think we've had good service even once (friendly and courteous - just never attentive or efficient. I understand that it's a buffet and all, but one time we had to ask for the naan 3 times and it finally came 25 minutes after we sat down. Most other times either the waiter forgot to order our drinks or I couldn't find anyone to get more water or napkins from (spicy food = water!). I highly recommend that they start leaving pitchers of water at each table if they're always that busy on Tuesday nights. Definitely worth checking out though, especially if you like Indian food. read more

Saturdays are the best days because for me, they're Taj Grill lunch buffet days. I'm always pleasantly surprised by the variety and freshness of food available (no lukewarm mystery meats here) and have eaten myself into a food coma countless times. This is a crowd pleaser for groups with different kinds of eaters, with veggie friendly options dominating the buffet but absolutely no skimping on meat or paneer dishes. The restaurant is in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is surprisingly well decorated and inviting. Staff interaction is limited with a buffet, but water seems to be constantly flowing and bread replenished. I am absolutely obsessed with the chana batura, which has been available every time I've gone. Chickpeas, one of the earthly gifts for which I am most thankful, are cooked to succulence in a tomato based sauce and served alongside puffy puri. Some other past favorites include lentil fritters, bhartha saag, and coconut soup. I've noticed recently a trend towards tofu rather than paneer in some curries, which is a welcome curiosity for those of us who don't eat cheese. Something neat - if you don't have time to sit in for the buffet, you can ask for a container at the front desk and pay by weight for takeout. I'm not sure if that's available at any of the other Indian buffets in the area. I've never done dinner service, but hope to do so soon! read more

So when they delivered to me, they left the food in my hall. I am not sure why they did this. I didn't realize it was out there for 2 hours. It was still good reheated, but then I could smell Taj in Mahal for days. Get it? Get it? I made that story up by the way. But I didn't make this one up. I went there for lunch the other day. I can't believe it has ONE THOUSAND REVIEWS (and by one thousand I mean 69, and by 69 I mean 111 but 69 sounds better), well here is another one for the road. The service was immaculate. The young American boy who served us was soooooooooo nice and accommodating, with the emphasis on dating (because with any luck, I'll be dating him by the weekend), he went way out of his way for us and even gave me something not on the menu (not THAT, get your minds out of the gutter you Buffalonical Gardeners). If it was a review based on service alone, it would score 6/5. The food was okay. My Chicken Madras (extra extra spicy) was not spicy, it wasn't amazing tasting, it was a bit dry. The Chicken at least was not the most dry and awful chicken served at Indian places, wasn't amazing either. Indian places usually serve dry chicken in these parts in my oh so very freaking humble opinion. Then there was the buffet food. My friend got a bit of everything and I illegally tried all of it off her plate. The Chicken Tikka Masala was good, not amazing, but good, and was the best food experience here. The chick peas and potato and cabbage dishes were all yum, but not amazing. The Butter Chicken was some of the worst I ever tasted. It was as if some Canadians had come down to B-lo, accidentally missed the exit for the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall, accidentally taken the 198 and then Delaware South, randomly ending up here, and then accidentally spilling 2 entire industrial size jugs (emphasis on jugs) of extra-sweet Maple Syrup into the container. To say I wasn't impressed would be to say the Titanic had an iffy maiden voyage. The Naan Bread was a little dry, the Garlic one was a little better but not the best around and not very moist. And who doesn't like it moist. A 4 is a little generous, but this is America, land of very poor options when it comes to Indian. There are at least 3 places in WNY with better Indian esque food than here but I won't insult them by naming them, you'll just have to read my 5,069 reviews to find them. But the service is awesome, some of the food is good, and if you use the delivery, then you can replicate what happened to me, when they left it in my hall, and then all I could smell for weeks, was Taj in Mahal. read more

I finally made it here for the Tuesday night buffet and I probably gobbled up 3-5 plates of their butter chicken. It's true, I couldn't stop eating it. The butter chicken has a sweet flavor to it and the chicken was so tender, I couldn't stop. This morning was a bit uncomfortable because of it. I don't know if it's authentic or too sweet, but it was mighty delicious. So why the docking of a star? Well, the chana masala (which is one my favorite Indian vegetarian dishes) was quite flavorless to me. Where's the tomato spicy tangy dish that I've grown to adore? Unfortunately, not here. I couldn't eat more than two spoonfuls of it before discerning that I'd rather not fill my stomach with less-than-ideally flavored chickpeas at a buffet. I'd love to see more variety and flavor in the buffet and to take a risk and put up some seriously spicy stuff there. All the buffets I frequent are afraid of putting a dish that's even a little bit hot, because people have different tolerances for spice. I say if there are 8+ different options, making one extra hot (and labeling it so) will only win you goodwill from people like me. read more

A few weeks ago my wife cooked Indian food for my parents (who had never previously had Indian food), and she wanted to keep the momentum going. We ordered a ton of stuff from Taj Grill, and all of it was amazing. My favorites were the Daal Makhani and Chicken Makhani. Both dishes were insanely rich and delicious. I'm not much a vegetable person, but I was also inhaling the Malai Kofta. The naan was really fresh as well. So glad to be eating these leftovers for the next couple days. read more

The Taj Grill was selected for Yelp's June International Supper Club dinner. Over 30 fellow foodies and gourmands gathered to experience all that the Taj Grill had to offer. The staff at Taj didn't disappoint. My particular challenge is that I'm allergic to curry. But the extensive menu of freshly prepared dishes still gave me many choices. I enjoyed the Avial Malabar (vegetables cooked in roasted coconut and yogurt sauce), Garlic Naan bread, and a strawberry Lassi (yogurt drink). I'm looking forward to a return trip to explore other dishes. I had the honor and pleasure of touring the back of the house where I met with Chef Abhay Thapar and owner "Sabi" as well as some of the other staff. The kitchen gleamed with clean, efficient expedition and service. I saw a demonstration of the Tandoori clay oven and was impressed by the harmony of food prep in the kitchen. Our server and now manager Pavan impressed me most. Not so much by his awesome tableside abilities but, amazingly, for this: It's been over a week since our visit and - when I called for some fact checking - he impressed me by recalling what I had for dinner as well as the names and dinner orders of the ladies seated to my left and to my right. Taj Grill - Avial Malabar - Excellent over Basmati Rice! - Indian Near Me - Buffalo, New York

A friend invited me to join her here for the Buffalo Yelp International Supper Club. I was TOTALLY excited because I'm in love with Indian Food!! My first impression was the parking - plenty of private lot parking in the plaza. This is always a plus for any place I go. Upon entering, I was pleased by the clean (almost stark) feeling which I like. There is a bit of tasteful art on the walls - it's not overdone, and that's so important to me. There's plenty of seating as well. Bathroom was clean too! I recommend taking a look at their menu ahead of time because there is SO much to choose from. If you've never had Indian, educate yourself a little, and get an idea of what you'd like. I always enjoy Chicken Biriyani, so I went with that to see how it compared to Rochester-area Indian places I've been. It was delicious, not too spicy (I got medium heat), and the raisins added just a hint of sweetness. The cucumber/yogurt sauce was also very tasty. To start off I also got onion bhaji - totally yum. The chutneys were DELICIOUS - better than I've had at other places. And I also got some paneer naan. I actually enjoyed the garlic and plain naan better than the paneer because it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I had a sip of my friend's Darjeeling tea (cold unsweetened) and it was GREAT! What a refreshing flavor - I would order that myself if I were to go back. Ok - so service. EXCELLENT. The waiter for the large group was attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, and personable. My water glass was never empty either. There was music playing in the background, and I was pleased to hear songs I am actually familiar with. Bollywood standards add to the feel and experience of authenticity. I would say the prices are generally reasonable. They are comparable to what I've see here in Rochester. And you get decent sized portions for what you pay. I really would like to try their buffet... maybe I'll make another trip out this summer. Honestly, probably the best Indian food I've had by FAR! I was at first skeptical but my friends (who are actually from India) said that it was almost as authentic as actually Indian food. I love food so I took the chance and ate here. Boy, was I impressed! The servers weren't as attentive as they probably should be, but the food was AMAZING. I definitely recommend the butter chicken. It's sweet, succulent and I just inhaled it as soon as it came to me. Definitely a "go to" if you want to venture out and try Indian food in the buffalo area. THIS should be your first stop. P.S. The lunch buffet is a great way to get your feet wet with some Indian dishes. It's about $12-$13 all you can eat and it has a lot of different options to offer (butter chicken being one of them). You often can't judge a restaurant by its buffet, but I really wanted to eat a lot of food for a low price so I caved and came for the Tuesday night buffet. It was a very reasonable price (I think maybe $12 a person?) and everything looked great which makes me feel better about the food not having sat out all night. There was a pretty good selection of food on the buffet. The saag paneer with spinach was very yummy as well as the chana masala. The butter chicken was a little sweet for my taste and there was also a beef vindaloo that was good but not spicy. Th e chicken tandoori was a giant drumstick and was very tender but didn't have a ton of that awesome tandoori flavor, but was dang good chicken either way. Waitstaff made sure my water was always filled and brought a ton of extra naan over to satisfy my carb cravings. I really enjoyed the buffet so I am even more looking forward a trip back to try the regular menu! read more

I've only had the lunch buffet here, but I'd say that it's superior to the buffet at India Gate on Elmwood. The staff does a great job replenishing the buffet as foods run low, and are attentive about clearing empty dishes and refilling waters at patrons' tables. The baskets of naan that the waitstaff bring around to the tables are nice and hot. The buffet is very vegetarian-friendly, and I didn't feel shortchanged at all. They even have saag with tofu, fried lentil balls, and deep-fried bread (bhatura, I think?) at the buffet, which are items I haven't seen at other restaurant buffets. The only things that my husband and I weren't such fans of were the sweetness of some of the items: the tamarind chutney was way too sweet for me, and while he initially liked the butter chicken, he found it was too sweet as he continued eating it. We figured buffet items would be fairly mild to appeal to as many diners as possible, but weren't expecting dishes to be overly sweet. Everything else we tried was fine, though. So I used to come to this place quite often and get buffet to go. I would get butter chicken and they would give me a container with lid so it would not spill Lately they changed the rules, they say that they cannot give containers with lids and I must use only a container that has no lid. which really sucks because I can't take rice and butter chicken home otherwise it would spill all over So customer service hasn't been so great. Not the biggest Indian food fan but thought I would give this place a try out from all the good reviews. First off our server was great, he made great beer selection recommendations my guest and I went with that were spot on with our meal and his description. For my first course I had the taj sampler which let's you sample about 6 different appetizers. This was a great choice for not knowing a lot of knowledge about the menu and the first time here and wanting to try a little bit of everything. All that came out in the sampler was fresh and tasted good, only critique would be there was to many carby samples and would have wanted more meat samples, or and even portion of meat verse carby samples at least. For my entrée I had the taj special with beef. This was beef curry, with grilled onions, tomato, peppers, and chicken with a side of what tasted like a dill sauce or what the resturant called "seasoned yogurt." With a plentiful basket of soft flour pitas. My entrée was fresh but taste was nothing but average. Best part to it was the beef curry. My guest had the curry hot which be warned is HOT and I had the mild that only had a small kick to it. For not being the biggest fan of Indian food, I recommend this place to eat if you asked me were to get good Indian food in town. read more

I've been long suffering to find a place in Buffalo as good as Taj grill ended up being and I'm so glad I finally made my way here. It's a hike from where I live in the south towns but it's so worth the drive. The food is excellent, very tasty, and fresh to order. The plaza they're in is pretty busy but I've had no issues with parking yet. I've really enjoyed their Chicken Makhani, tandoori chicken, curry goat, and tikka masala all delicious! Service was good and everybody was very friendly. The pricing was affordable and right where it should be. Did I forget to mention the perfectly cooked Naan? Yummy and crispy just the way you'd want it. I've ordered from here at least four times in the past month and I can't get enough! They have a buffet here as well which I really need to come try sometime. The restaurant is very clean throughout and they've got an extensive menu of things to try. I have been here a few times for the buffet. The buffet is good, usually luke warm, but good still. I came here for the first time the other day and ordered off the menu. The dinner was amazing. Food was perfectly spiced, piping hot and fresh, and plentiful. I had chicken in a spicy coconut sauce. It was rich in flavor and delicious. Our table split the spinach with cheese and spinach with mushrooms. Probably the best spinach I have ever had. We also go samosas which we're stuffed full of veggie filling and had great dipping sauces. Overall, great meal. I know people say this is one of Buffalo's best Indian places. However, being an Indian myself, I have a problem when people pass off dishes to be authentic when they are not. Lamb/ goat/ chicken biryani does not have broccoli and that's that. Neither does it taste sweet. You cannot mix recipes of different biryani types and pass them as one. Roganjosh does not taste tangy as hell. It should be flavorful due to spices not plain hot. Don't get me started on the chicken tikka masala and chicken manchurian. Yes their waitress was very nice and helpful. In addition, it's an Indian restaurant that doesn't make you smell of curry powder later. The food is average and I'm never coming back. P.S. We went for the first time last night! Amazing food. Started with Chicken Meat Balls, (my words) the sauce that it was in was something new to me. It will be a "must" order every time. My wife had the scallops, again she loved them. I had a sampling plate of six different things. The beef curry was the best, all were terrific. I don't eat beef out unless it's a steak. I don't trust the quality. No problems here! Tandoris was my go to place, tried a couple of others and they were your standard every day place. This place is a "Must-Visit!" As soon as you enter, the staff warmly greets you, while the aroma from the kitchen gives your nose a Mortal Kombat worthy kill shot. We went for my wife's birthday dinner. The service was fantastic through out the whole experience. We started with Vegetable Samosas ($2.95), Which were excellent (especially the sauces). My wife ordered the Paneer Shahi Korma ($11.95), and I ordered the Taj Grill Special ($17.95). The Taj Grill Special is probably the best deal I've seen on any Indian menu. Basically the Tandoori Sampler of the Gods. We ordered garlic naan to go along with our dinner. At the end of dinner, they brought a sample plate of all the desserts with a candle in it for my wife's birthday. All of the food was amazing. And we had plenty enough to be lunch for the next day (this is impressive... I'm a big eater). Wait staff was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I came here based on the yelp reviews, so I had high expectations. I dined in around 2pm for the lunch buffet. The variety of food was mediocre for an Indian buffet. They had some veggie dishes (pakora, chickpeas, spinach, tofu, lentils), a beef dish, curry chicken, butter chicken, and tandoori chicken. The meat dishes were a bit overcooked. I liked the beef and curry chicken dishes. The butter chicken was sweet, so not to my liking. The tandoori chicken wasn't consistent; one piece was dry, while a drumstick was tender. The pakora (fried vegetables) was cold and bland. I really enjoyed the chickpeas, which were accompanied by fried bread. I also liked the potatoes and green beans dish. The veggies were soft and well seasoned. The naan was alright, but not the best I have tasted in Buffalo. A nice plus was that the buffet included chai tea! I didn't get anything from the salad bar. The rice pudding was pretty decent. $9.70 including tax for lunch buffet. Overall, I though Taj Grill was alright, nothing spectacular. However, my standards for Indian restaurants may be influenced by the amount of Indian restaurants I've been to in NJ, NYC, and Buffalo.. The restaurant itself is really clean as mentioned in other reviews. The waiter was nice. They didn't kick us out even though the buffet ended at 2:30, but they did take the food away after giving us a heads-up. read more

I have never dined in here, so I can only judge the food and take out service. Both were decent. This is not my favorite Indian restaurant in Buffalo, but living in the Allentown area, it is probably my favorite so far that is convenient for takeout. (My favorite spot is in the 'burbs) [FOOD - 3.5] I'm judging it on what it is. If you come here with the expectation that the dishes will be equivalent to the authenticity you'd get in India, you'll be disappointed, but for what it is I do enjoy it. I eat quite a bit of Indian food and while it's not SUPER authentic here, I do think they do a good job of incorporating a lot of traditional flavors while not making the dishes too 'Americanized' compared to a lot of the Indian options in the area. My boyfriend and I both enjoy a decent amount of spice and felt that their scale was a little lacking for an Indian restaurant (we ordered hot and I expected hotter). Overall though, I was satisfied with my meal. Good spot to go to or order from If you are in the area or live nearby and craving some Indian food. [SERVICE - 3] It took quite a while to get our food. When we called in and placed our order we were told a time frame. We got there at the tail end of that time frame given and still had to wait about 10 minutes. Excellent food and service, highly recommended! I'm a good cook, and consequently rarely enjoy eating at Indian restaurants. The food always seems sub-par. Taj Grill has made me rethink my opinion. Their flavors are spot on, without being overpowering or too watered down to suit American taste buds. Their lunch buffet is generous for ~$10, with a good selection of salads, vegetarian & non-vegetarian entrees and desserts The wait staff is excellent as well.
