Today was my first experience with Taj-Mahound, at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Luke and I made our first trek to the Market this pleasant Saturday and one of my favorite booths was this cool outpost. I picked up a few treats for the baby (see pics) and he loved the first one I gave him - the cheddar and bacon bone biscuit. We'll see what he thinks of the peanut butter treat tomorrow! Good prices- most treats in the $1-2/ea range. Nice lady working the stand. Will definitely look for them again at the Market or even trek to their store for future supplies and goodies!! read more

This place is amazing!!! I threw my dog a birthday party and last minute decided not to make the cake myself and needed to find one already made. I came here to buy one of the smaller ones but asked if they possibly had a bigger one available and they did! She iced it up for me in about 30 minutes and I was on my way! They were so accommodating, friendly, and helpful! All the dogs at the party loved the cake! This is the second time I've come for my dog's birthday treat because they are amazing! They have such a great selection of treats, not just for your dog's birthday, but for any time. They also have a cute boutique section with toys and accessories for your dog. I've never done a large custom birthday cake for my dog because she's small, but they do those as well, and today they even showed me one to see if I was interested in something that size. After getting my morning cafe au lait at Karvana, my beau and I read a little sign for $1 doggie treats on sale... "Where do we go?" we incredulously questioned each other. We sauntered our rumps across to the Universal Joint, and found no signs of treats. We about faced, and right before we gave up, we saw an arrow. "Eureka, darling! Alas, there is an ARROW!" We followed the arrow... (think Sesame Street... Follow, the Arrow, so you'll know where to go!) We finally see bright lime green walls with paw prints scattered on them like leopard prints! We've arrived at the Taj Mahound, and were the only customers there! It's like fun, prissy, princess meets dog. Girls just wanna have fun, and make money meets dog. It just reminded me of an awesome boutique in a quaint shopping village ... meets dog! It was excellent. Well decorated, great selection, and the treats were nothing short of fantastic. On Wednesdays (which is when I went) starting at 5pm, there is Free Doggie Ice Cream, coupled with a casual happy hour for the owners. Free Ice Cream with Free Drinks? What more can you ask for? The shopkeeper (maybe owner) wasn't chatty with us because she was busy talking to a girlfriend of hers, but the place pretty much sold itself. I'm a sucker for places that remind me of Greenwich Village in NY, and this one is it. NYC Dog Chic meets Magnolia Bakery... YES! That is it! Constructive Critique: Too bad I didn't get any attention from the lady (even though we were the only clients around), maybe I would've gotten exactly what I needed to give a 5 star rating, and be drawn back even sooner to mingle over ice cream and beer. I ordered some treats and cakes from here as my dogs do love the treats here. However I was a bit disappointed when I received my custom order of conversation bones and birthday cake. When I examined the conversation bones, some of the decorations (writing) seemed to taper off from large font to small font. (I've previously ordered from here last year and had no problems with the quality of work.) Also some of the conversation bones had the beginnings of writing on one side (so I think whoever was in charge messed up) and on the other side had the full tapered writing. Some of the conversation bones had writing on the bottom side rather than the top side. It would've been nice if they were uniform. When I examined the cake, some of the paw prints were on the side of the cake instead of the top. It caused the top of the cake to look crowded instead of cohesive. Ultimately the quality of work did not match the price I paid. 4 stars since my dogs enjoyed the conversation bones and cake. 3 stars for work quality I received read more

I'm a fan indeed! This cute little dog bakery sits a short distance from our favorite dog park (Oakhurst) so it makes for a perfect pit stop on the way home. The gourmet treats are incredibly cute and the flavors change weekly, I think. Prices are good and fluctuate depend on the amount of detailed design that goes into a treat. I got a little pink pig shaped treat for $1 and to help wash it down a tall boy of PBR for $4. (note the picture) They have ice cream socials each Thursday night for your little friend and even provide space for your little one and his/her friends to celebrate it's barkday. Yes, barkday is K9 for birthday.... get with it people... For your feline friends they have a small section of cat treats. Everything seems to be natural ingredients and they even get more involved and provide some treats that are gluten free. I absolutely love this place. Just walking distance from our house (and conveniently on the path of the walk I take my dog on), Taj Mahound is a great little doggie bakery in Oakhurst. The lady who owns the place (sorry but I told you I'm horrible remember names) is always super sweet and welcoming. Cassie loves hanging out with her especially since she knows she's going to get some yummy treats. The prices are just a bit high but people don't seem to mind spending tons of money on natural, good foods for their rugrat kids so why should it be an issue for your furkid? Cassie seems to love the cookies from here and they're always decorated really cute such as a can of "Pupst" Blue Ribbon, "Barkarittas" and what not. I've even had a bite of one myself and they're really good! Hey, why would I feed my dog something I wouldn't eat myself (except for dog food which is gross). I've been here several times and each visit has been great. I have a Dachshund-Chihuahua mix who loves food, treats and chews, so a doggie bakery is one of his favorite places to go. Now that they host a yappy hour on Sunday afternoons, we can make an afternoon of going to Oakhurst Dog Park and then walking down to Taj Mahound. Everyone there is super nice, friendly, and helpful. They have a great selection of treats and I've gotten the mixstixs (fyi, they are a crumbly and I learned not to let him eat it on the bed anymore) ($5), the specialty treats (price varies, but about $5), the pig ears ($3), the braided treats ($12), doggie ice cream ($4) and the undecorated treats ($1/each or 6 for $5). The specialty treats are super cute and they have them for all occasions. This is a great little doggie bakery that I recommend to all my friends. The store was very kind and really easy to order with. However, the birthday bone with icing on it was so hard you couldn't even break off a piece of it with a mallet, and the dog almost choked on the piece we were able to break off because he tried swallowing the chunk after trying to chew it for a while. He then proceeded to vomit the blue icing as if it was poison. Thank you for inedible birthday treat, and for making the dogs first birthday one where he puked blue icing all over his daddy's shirt. Oh. My. Dog. Taj Ma-Hound is man's best friend's best friend. Doggy baked goods and doggy birthday cakes??? Be still, my wagging tail. I got a birthday cake for Baloo. He's getting gray hairs, and is no spring pup anymore. So he deserved to be spoiled a little for his birthday. Taj Ma-Hound was able to accommodate my request for a small birthday cake for pickup that very day. They asked me what flavor Baloo wanted, what colour icing, how to spell his name, and what I wanted the cake to say. It was ready right on time when I picked it up. I had to call to figure out where they were located because I was confused on their location. They are on the side of the building, but have a very paw print mural that helps make them more visible. After two phone calls with their staff, I'd say they nail it on customer service and being able to answer questions from dog cakes to location with ease and clarity. The inside was very cute and the bake case up front tempted me to spoil Baloo even further, but I remained strong since a cake was enough for him. The cake was better than I imagined it would be! It was so adorable, so cute looking, and even had me tempted to try it! (If anyone does try their dog cake for themselves, let me know how it is. I'm curious now) The best part of it was seeing Baloo's face. I have never seen a more excited dog than him when he realized "wait, this is for me?? For me????" Oh, the tail wags. It is a sizable cake. Even for a large dog like Baloo it ended up being multiple servings of cake. He had an entire spoiled week of cake after dinner. I haven't actually been to the store, but I've been buying their gourmet dog treats at Piedmont Park's Green Market for the past two years. My girls LOVE them! They are $1/pc or 6 for $5. My girls especially love the Chicken Soup and Chedar Bacon flavors. They tried the wheat-free something today and seemed pretty pleased with this flavor too :). They have super cute decorated treats too that one lady in my building gave out for her dog's birthday. It's really funny. I lived around the corner from the Taj Mahound for a year and a half but never stopped in to pick anything up for my dog. I bought my Roxy a dognoli (dog cannoli) and she ate just the peanut butter stuffing...but thats probably because she has like 3 teeth! Prices were on par with other doggie boutique. This is the cutest pup bakery ever! I had been trying to come out for the ice cream socials forever, but never quite had the chance. Finally, last Thursday, I made it. The bakery is very nicely decorated and the owner is really friendly. My dog absolutely loved the free peanut butter ice cream. I also purchased a doggie brownie and my dog DEVOURED it! I gave my dog a piece of a cookie, but it was surprisingly tough for her to chew. I'll make sure to stick to the softer treats in the shoppe next time. They have dog house shaped cakes, and dog shaped cakes. You can have them decorate it in any color you like. Its decorated so cute! It reads "Yappy Barkday Pierre" (Yes, Pierre is a Poodle). Not only do they have dog friendly cakes, they also have a lot of dog friendly treats. Doggy Doughnuts, cookies, cookies in the shape of squirrels, cupcakes. You can take your dog in the bakery too!! I bought some of the The Taj-Mahound squirrel cookies at a boutique in Decatur and gave them out to folks that give referals for my dog walking business. This place is great! It smells amazing, and they always have plenty of fresh baked treats to feed your doggy. My dog always makes a beeline for Taj's front door when we're passing by the Oakhurst intersection. I haven't used the custom cakes, but I highly recommend the in-store treats! I will never purchase treats from this place again. After seeing the remarkable reviews and everyone's positive remarks, I decided to pick up some treats and a birthday cake for my 1-year-old pup. The woman was great to talk to and the baked goods seemed like they would be a hit with my pup and our other dog. We gave a portion of the cake to the dog in the afternoon and since then, he has been vomiting chunks of brown cake and icing non-stop. The owner is so friendly and kind, and I love the idea of homemade treats and cakes for our pups. Regarding the two negative reviews on here: NO ONE CAN CONTROL THE FACT THAT YOUR DOGS HAVE SENSITIVE STOMACHS. If a dog reacts badly to a particular food or ingredient, it's not the dog's fault, your fault, or Taj Ma-Hound's fault, so get a grip on reality. The dogs really seemed to enjoy the ice cream, and it was our bigger dog's birthday so we bought a cake (partially as a thanks for the ice cream).
