Came here this past weekend mainly for the traveling veterinarians who were going to be at this location on Saturday. My low maintenance (except for the grooming part) fur baby needed some vaccinations, and I wanted to check out this pet store. A win-win situation! Pet Supermarket is in the extremely busy Toco Hills Shopping Center, which has a huge and free parking lot for all the neighboring businesses. The veterinarians occupied a little area in the middle of the store, and there was no line because I got there a couple of hours after they started seeing patients. My Suki was such a great patient, didn't whine or bite, but then she doesn't do those anyway. It took less than 15 minutes for everything they needed to do, and the prices were reasonable. Walked around the store. Prices were kind of higher than the larger and more popular stores. The store was well organized and clean. It was funny to watch Suki look through everything, especially in the dog toys area. She is a small dog and weighs only 11 lbs, and she was so interested in the large toys. Some of those toys were almost half her weight. This store sells live animals, and today I saw chameleons, lizards, rabbits, birds and "skinny" guinea pigs. It's not that they were actually skinny, like thin, but barely had any fur, looking as if a kid had taken electric shears and shaved most of their fur off of their bodies. They were very energetic, though. All of the animals that I saw, including the fish, were healthy. This store, even though it's smaller in size than the mega pet stores, looks like it stocks most of the necessities for your pets. read more

Convenient location & live animals inside... Customer service: Mark helped a ton! I walked in, asked him about an item, and he went the extra mile to walk me to the item and gave his insight. I wasn't expecting such great assistance, so thank you, Mark!! I saw how he behaved with the other customers as well, and he is really kind-hearted. Great staff member! Store: Very bright store, great price labels, and easy layout to walk through. Such a satisfying shopping experience based on the organization of the store. Would I recommend? Yes. Will I be back? Visited this establishment on Saturday 7/01/23. The three staff members at the registers (around 10am) are the "bottom of the barrel". They know nothing & could not care less about store product or customer service. It is a shame that they are being paid to do nothing but suck their teeth & roll their eyes read more

Pet Supermarket was cool when I dashed in 5 minutes before closing to buy a few cans of grain-free cat food. It was pretty easy to locate what I needed quickly, and there were many brands of food for sale. Prices seemed reasonable, and the employees didn't give me the stink eye or anything. Have I have my fish dad, and although I brought the wrong receipt, they were very gracious and kind to me and gave me a store credit. I also return the fish in the wrong way, but now I know how to do it next time if there ever is the next time thank you so much. read more

One of the few places intown that still sells feeder rats and mice. They're good in my book for that reason.

I come here often and I was disappointed that today the two associates did not have on mask.

Good well stocked pet shop. Went there as I was in that area and picked up some supplies from there. The staff was friendly and cooperative. Good place reasonable price. read more

Looks like they had a rodent infestation from previous reviews...That's pretty yuck but I've been coming here since this time last year and haven't seen any sign of it. Anyway, the staff is helpful, prices good, selection could be better but it's got what I need so yeah, no-brainer. read more

Update... The smells weren't from their own animals, but rats living in the building. Ewww... Closed down for a while, until they fix the out-of-control infestation. read more

Before I inform you of the unfortunate state their aquatic department and their lack of knowledge let me explain my back ground to establish credibility. I worked at a pet store for five years, I'm certified in fresh and salt water aquatic care, certified diver, and used to build and design aquariums before I was in college. I could have went to a dedicated fish store but since I live a block away I figured I'd avoid the traffic and go to my local pet store. I went in there to purchase some substrate and to window shop for potential fish specimens I may be able to use in my new aquarium. I was utterly DISGUSTED when i saw the condition in which they keep their fish tanks. They are plagued ICK!!! ICK is an extremely contagious bacterial infection that can wipe out an entire aquarium of fish in a matter of a few days. EVERY tank is filled with dead fish. And even a few fish are infected with various forms of fungal infections. So I calmly decided to to just purchase my substrate and leave before I lost my temper on how they can't seem to take care of all their living critters. I was looking for both sand and Aragonite to start my cichlid tank. I surprisingly found the Aragonite but couldn't find proper sand. I asked an employee if they carried any and he tried to not only sell me reptile calcium sand but he also tried to insist it was fine. I calmly put my stuff down thanked the employee for his assistance and walked out. If your looking for fish go to petsmart in tucker or go the the fish store and more. This is my favorite place to buy my pet food at. They carry all the healthy brands of cat and dog food that you usually dont find at other places. I feed my cats tru food and this is the only place i can find that sells it. Also, they got me hooked on the best cat litter ever. It is made up of ground up walnuts. It clumps and best of all when the litter box is full you just flush the entire contents of it down the toilet. It is the only brand i use now. The employees are nice and friendly too and that is always nice. Great little place read more

Wow. Talk about bad costumer service. As me and three other costumers were checking out Britney the cashier continually screamed as loud as she at the other staffers to come help her. Which could possibly be understood if, and only if she was busy. When the two girls she was screaming at came to the front she then picked up her phone and began texting people. Good job Britney. This is a convenient location for me, I gotta say I was really surprised by the breadth and depth of what they have in stock. I've always found the employees to be very willing to help when comparing different products. Big Perk - I joined their rewards program which says you get a free bag of food after 10 purchases, and I was surprised that I actually did get a coupon for it in the mail. I never know if those reward programs actually work, but saving $30+ is worth it to me. Also, they almost always have a coupon in the paper for $5 off a $25 purchase, and all in all the savings really do add up that way. Very happy at this location! read more

I initially went to this pet store simply because it was convenient to work and I could visit during lunch break. I was expecting no more than your typical pet store but ended up being pleasantly surprised. First of all the facility is very, very clean and organized. The staff very knowledgable, ready and willing to assist . From the moment I walked through the door I was impressed. Several things really stand out when comparing this store to other local chains. The thing that means the most to me however and will keep me coming back is their personal approach to all of their customers. It is nice to be acknowledged and assisted if needed immediately upon walking in. It doesn't hurt either that they are willing to stay on top of a specific food that I need for my dog! The staff here are nice and friendly - and for that I'd give high marks. However after purchasing some aquatic plants, my Betta fish caught both Ich and tail rot. I've had Betta fish live for years and mine was only a few months old. I rinsed the plants in de-chlorinated water prior to adding to my fish tank, but this was not enough to prevent disease and parasites. read more

I went to pet supermarket to purchase a new dog crate and some flea medicine. With it being a smaller business, I figured the prices would be a little higher than other stores like Petco and Target (maybe $5 at most), however, when I saw their prices I was amazed at how much more they charged! They were asking $170 for the dog crate that I found on Amazon Prime for $69 and for frontline flea medicine they asked for $70, but I found it at Target for $39 regular price. The markup at this place is ridiculous. Their location is extremely convenient but I will now choose to drive 15 minutes to go elsewhere. read more

I have been shopping off and on at this store for a number of years. Not once - ever - have I had a positive, pleasant experience. Some of the rudest and nasty staff I have ever experienced at any store of any kind. I could go on-and-on with specifics, like being told they did carry things which are literally sitting in front of them. Constantly ringing things up at wrong prices, their fraudulent rewards program, and so much more. The Ansley store is the exact opposite - they are awesome, helpful, and most of all courteous. This is the best pet store around hands down!!! Their store is always clean and it doesn't smell like a pet store. The staff is awesome, always eager to answer questions you may have or simply carry a bag out for you. They have a great variety of products for any pet ranging from dogs, cats, small animals, fish, and even birds!!!! Every time I go, I'm always greeted and leave highly satisfied. They have other locations but none of them are quite on the level of this one!! I have never experienced such awesome customer service until I came across this store!!!! read more

I've gotten a few healthy animals here, but the way they take care of their Syrian hamsters isn't exactly the best. They don't provide the Syrian hamsters, or any hamsters for that matter, with a silent spinner (A type of wheel). They use wire wheels instead. PLEASE PET SUPERMARKET. If you are looking at my review right now, know that wire wheels can cause damage and disfiguration to a hamster's feet, and it would be much better for them if you simply used to silent spinner which you sell in your stores already! Also, The staff there don't seem to know too much about hamsters. In fact, I hadn't done any research before getting a bedding, and it was just relying on the staff to help me get the best bedding for the hamsters, and they recommended a TOXIC PINE BEDDING THAT KILLED OUR HAMSTERS. I am not joking, they actually KILLED them. It wasn't until I did my own research, that I found out that they sold that toxic bedding without knowing that it was Bad for the little creatures lungs! All because of that one simple mistake by an employee, my little brother's favorite hamster died. He cried for several days, and the thing was, he actually had a bond with this hamster, and they snuggled together all the time, and now because of that one simple mistake, he can never get that back. read more
