Toco Hills Shopping Center I tried to return a dangerous/defective cat toy to this location less than 24 hours after buying it. The woman at the register started shaking her head "no" at me when I started asking if there was anything we could do here and didn't even let me finish talking. She then proceeded to tell me I could not exchange it or get a refund. Policy is policy; I get that. But she did not attempt to be a part of a solution at all. I know the bare minimum is pretty normal these days, but surely this store can do better than someone with a "too-bad, and I don't care" attitude. I wonder how many other chains will not let you return or exchange a product with an obvious choking hazard? Regardless, there's no shortage of bad attitude and lack of urgency here. read more

My friend needed to buy a few bones and treats for her pup. The staff were quick to welcome us in and offer a hand if we needed it. They even suggested to take a peek at their clearance section if we wanted to, in which we of course did. Shelves were well stocked and organized. Prices were explicitly labeled so definitely a good, reliable place to come to for your fury/feathery/scaley friend! read more

I came here to get my dog a few dental treats and to show my toddler some animals. She had a blast! She enjoyed looking at the bunny, fish, parakeets, and cockatiels. I sent my boyfriend here to get everything we needed for two kitties (one FIV+) were bringing home in a couple days. He's never had a cat... he called me after his shopping experience & told me about how amazing it was. An employee there helped him pick out proper food for our kitties, liter, cat nip, cat nip sprays! Everything! (Out of their wide selection). She was so helpful, and truly passionate about her job. She even offered to help carry things out to the car, and asked for us to check in once we get our kitties & let her know any information we find out regarding FIV+ cats. The store has always had a pretty good selection of pets esp fish over the years. Went in this week near closing to look at small animals and had an awkward experience. The young man working the front came over and I realized his pants were down... front and back. Haven't seen that much underwear in a store before. A large guy, he kept lounging over the animal enclosure with .... that .... pretty much fully present while I was trying to look at hamsters and bunnies. Awkward. I mean waistband way below the hips and all of the undies showing all of the goods awkward. He wouldn't go away even though I said a couple of times that I was just looking around. Not sure I'm going back to that store. With no other shoppers there, it was highly... awkward. read more

This store has a great selection of products and well priced; however, you cannot make a return without providing your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and street address. I attempted to return something WITH the original receipt within 30 days, and was told I need to provide the above information. No option for store credit was given. The young man helping me said he would get marked down for not capturing all my information. I talked to the manager, and he confirmed that the young man would get a mark and that there was no way to make a return without providing all the information. Confused- no consideration for privacy concerns. Why do they need my street address for an in person return? Unfortunately, even though the location is convenient and well-stocked I will not be returning. read more

My wife and I love this place - we can always find just what we need for our puppy. They have so many toy options, and we buy everything here (crate, toys, food, beds, treats, etc). They can get a little expensive, but you can get a VIP card and then you get discounts. We also have a turtle, and although they have less stuff for exotic pets, they still always have what we need. I really recommend this Pet Supermarket - the staff is also really friendly and will drop whatever they're doing to help you find what you need. My wife went there right after we spontaneously adopted our puppy... I stayed home with the puppy and she was pretty nervous about buying everything by herself. But she says that someone working there talked to her about what kind of dog we just adopted and how old/big he is, and he walked around the whole store with her picking up everything she'd need, including stain and odor remover, potty pads and potty bags, and the right kind of leash and collar. read more

I must ask why any pet store would select carpet as their flooring choice? I always ask myself this when I enter the Pet Supermarket store on NDH. It just doesn't make a bit of sense to me. I am pretty sure that is what contributes to the musty smell of this store, but that's not really that important. What is important is that Pet Supermarket has the best prices on dog supplies. It amazed me that the dog treats I have been buying for my dog were $3.00 less at Pet Supermarket than at Petsmart. $3.00!!! I could understand 50 cents or whatever but $3.00 bucks is a lot when I am constantly replenishing the supply. The staff has always been helpful in answering questions and I love that I get coupons in the mail. This is a small store, so don't expect to find everything under the sun, but the selection is still really good. read more

We stopped by here to pick up a water pump. Overall, my boyfriend and I have been here several times to check out their merchandise and I'm sure we'll be returning in the near future for some new aquarium fixtures and toys. The store itself is well organized. It's not a huge store but if you're on a mission to find a product, you'll be able to find it pretty easily. Their merchandise is reasonably priced. You can't help but notice the adorable kittens for adoption by the front window. Not sure about during the week but on weekends, the organization is always there and so if you're looking to adopt a new furry pet, be sure to stop by this location. On our last visit, we weren't greeted by one of the store clerks who was looking directly at us when we walked in. A simple, "Hello!" would have done the trick but he just looked our way and didn't even acknowledge us. He was a much older gentleman. I joked that he would stink as a greeter at Walmart because he didn't greet us but perhaps he was having a "space out" moment and just forgot to do his job. I wouldn't recommend this in a retail store but I don't run the place so happy to at least leave it on this review. It was all forgotten when we checked out and our lovely cashier was pleasant and efficient. I usually go to this place to buy my dog's food- because it in a convent location for my weekly errands. Located right next door to Publix on N. Druid Hills, like most pet supply stores, they allow you to bring in your dog. I stopped in this afternoon after work, for a new chew toy and a 3 month supply of Frontline of my pup. Maybe it was my awesome manly charm, or my devilish good looks, but they gave me $5.00 off my total purchase! Well, maybe it was due to customer appreciation thing or something, but I'll just run with the manly charm thing. I also just found out that they offer cheap cat/dog vaccines administered by state veterinarians! I was surprised to find this out, because its like half the cost there in comparison what it costs at my vet! Be prepared if you bring your dog though, there isn't a place to take your dog to go potty.. read more

I had never even noticed this store previously, so I stopped by to check it out today. Their fish selection was decent, perhaps a bit on the small side. The fish were very well priced, but they were smaller and less active than comparable fish I've seen in other stores. The labels weren't always accurate, and many fish had no prices or labels on them anywhere. There were, however, very few dead fish in the tanks, which is always a good sign. The store was small, and I thought that carpet might have been a poor choice for a pet store that allows pets in the store. Their small pet selection consisted of ferrets, rabbits, hamsters (which were notably more active and playful than any I've ever seen in a PetSmart), and guinea pigs. As for birds, they had finches, parakeets, cockatiels, and some kind of parrot that was in with the cockatiels. Because it was cold outside, the weekend pet adoption (run by Ruffus Rescue) was inside, making it very cramped near the front door, as the store didn't have much room to spare. Overall, a decent, mid-sized pet store. I would buy fish equipment here, but I think I'll keep getting my fish from PetSmart for now. read more

The location of this store is very convenient. It is directly beside the Publix in the Toco Hills shopping center. The staff will consistently say 'Hello' when I walk in and while inside will ask if they can help me find something. My visits here are strictly to purchase dog food so I cannot attest to their selection of toys, beds etc.. My complaint, and reason for star removal, is that more often than not I am left to carry my 35 pound of dog food to my car myself or lift it out of my buggy to put on the counter for them to scan. In my experience the independent/Mom and Pop stores always throw the bag on the shoulder, carry it to the counter and walk out with me without even asking. At Pet Supermarket I will often have to ask for help to load it in car (I'm pregnant and am not supposed to lift heavy loads) or feel the employee isn't thrilled about having to carry it out. This location has an affordable shot clinic on the weekend and will frequently advertise fun events in the store so they are active with the community. The hours are 9-9 during the week and 10-7 on Sunday. Like most places it is ideal to go here in the morning. I find that to be when the store is most quiet. Typically I walk right up to the register or at most half to wait behind 1 person. I never wait long here. read more

When I was dying to try and find a deal on a collapsible soft crate for a 70lb greyhound, Pet Supermarket took good care of me. Soft crates are a friggin' expensive purchase if you have a big dog -- Amazon and brick and mortar pet stores will try and charge you $150 for a quality 46" canvas collapsible soft crate for a dog. This is assuming you can even find them in stock at the brick and mortar stores. No one carries them. Pet Supermarket, however, did, and they had them heavily discounted. I got a $150 model for about $80, and they were super helpful in letting me crack them open and test them in-store to see if my greyhound would be comfortable using the crate while traveling. Kudos to Pet Supermarket for staying small and stocking the more obscure items that the big operations like PetSmart and PETCO just do not carry. Additional kudos for having knowledgeable employees who are ready and willing to help and call around to other locations to help you find that one thing you need for your pet. read more

Love this store I take my little Chihuahua Molly here about every two weeks when I pick up her dog food. Prices are reasonable. She loves the attention she gets from the other shoppers. Great store with lots of variety. They have stuff for most pets. On the weekends they also have adoptions (cats mostly) which can be fun to check out if you're in the area! The downside is the price. Most of the cat toys they sell can be found online for a better price. They also have good high quality pet food, but it will come at a price. Really great place to get cheap collars. They're currently running a clearance and have high-end and leather collars for between $2-$7. I bought many, and leashes. The great thing about Pet Supermarket is that they price match! I haven't found anywhere else that does that. They also often have cool give-a-ways in their circular if you buy a particular brand of food. They stock organic and high quality food including Taste of the Wild (as of 4 months ago now) and carry quality grain free treats such as Bill Jac's and Cool Jac's (Bill Jacs with Yogurt) and also Bill Jacs raw food. What makes them better than other places? Other places have the buy 10 get the 11th bag free deal on Mid-range dog food like Eukanuba, Science Diet, etc. They offer this SAME deal on ALL dog food. What does that mean? It means I will now be buying my dog food here because nowhere else in ATL offers a deal like that on Orijen, Taste of the Wild, and other high quality dog food. Had they carried Taste of the Wild longer, I'd have been getting free food by now... it amounts to 10% less (when you average it all out) on the food price. Every little bit of savings helps, especially when you're feeding 200lbs of dog. read more

If you want the absolute best things for your loveable companion but want to avoid spending too much money, go here! They have stuff for dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles/amphibians, and fish! You're able to adopt and buy all of those animals here too. They have ferrets up for adoption who are really active and interactive. Chirping parakeets with vibrant colors. Their kittens are also in great shape! The only thing I'd say needs some work is the fish section. Some of the products are gone and haven't been replaced. There are some sick looking fish too, but nothing too major. read more

As a 27 yr conure owner, this place has a vast variety of healthy bird food and LOTS of sales! Don't waste your dollar going to PetsMart for over priced feed! AND they had inexpensive toys too! Not only did I buy a ton of stuff there for my (now) spoiled parrot, they even had replacement dishes I'd been looking for that fits her playpen/perch perfectly and are RUST PROOF. I would not reccomend going to this store on Saturdays or Sundays as Ruffus Rescue run by Harriett Patterson takes over the store. It makes it impossible to shop for pet supplies. Ruffus Rescue also seemed to have a majority of ill animals. I adopted one puppy and he had Kennel Cough (mild disease but highly contagious) and Parvo (Extrememly contagious and deadly to puppies). If you've had a bad experience at Pet Supermarket because of Ruffus Rescue please contact their customer support and let them know. I strolled on over here to pick up some kitty litter after leaving the Famous Pub. I'm glad it's not the closest one to my house because I'd have to travel elsewhere for my pet needs. I was approached by the cashier and the 1st thing he said was "wow you're beautiful" and then asked if I could use some help. I thanked him for the compliment and told him I was just looking for covered litter boxes. He showed me to them and proceeded to gawk at me. he started asking if I was married and for how long and I finally said...I'm not interested and that I'm a lezbo anyways. He then proceeded to ask "how long you been like that?" and I looked at him like he was on glue and he quickly said " I' mean that's cool...I don't mind that...I mean I don't like gay dudes but girls mmmm that Ok" I stopped to play with the adoptable pups and he took out his phone and was asking if he could take my picture. I told him "helllll no" and he laughed and was aiming his phone at me so not sure if he got one. I should've left the store long ago but I proceeded to purchase my litter. He then asked if he could take me out to dinner...asked "don't you go to dinner with friends?" and once again I told him "helll no" I'm not interested. And he assured me that he'd be there if I changed my mind. What a loser! I FELT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! read more

I've been in this store a few times to buy odds and ends for my dogs and always had a good experience. Most recently, I needed something to try to break my 60-pound dog from pulling on the leash. An employee helped me find the right product, and even helped keep my dog entertained with treats while I deciphered the instructions so I could make sure I was buying the right size. The employees were helpful but not pushy, and very courteous. I'm also always pleasantly surprised that the prices here are equal to or less than other big chain stores. Pet Supermarket definitely has great prices, and if you are part of the frequent buyer program your 11th bag of food is free which is a great incentive to buy food there! However, if you are looking for Wellness Simple Solution food in the large bags, always call before you go there to get it. In the last four months, everytime we've gone in to get food for our 95 lb. dog, they have have been out of the food that we need. They tell us it will be in the next day and it never arrives. No one there seems to know if this is a Wellness or Pet Supermarket distribution problem. I've been a loyal customer for over two years and until the past six months, this was never a problem. It's a little frustrating especially since not many stores carry Wellness Simple Solution in the 26 lb. bags. read more

Today was the day I decided to no longer spend my money at Pet Supermarket! The last several times I shopped here the items I wanted to purchase were not clearly marked. Today was no exception. I brought two different bags of dog treats to the counter and neither one was the price that was listed on the hooks I pulled them from! They were both several dollars higher. It just feels like a bait and switch situation to me. Perhaps if they invested in price guns and clearly marked their stock I'd consider shopping there again. Well, not so good. When ever I go there I always end up waiting f0or someone to even come to the counter. Last time the two young employees were joking about how good the food I was getting was. I said what did you mean, and they replied how sometimes they test the pet food themselves. Then they didnt have proper change so I had to wait for someone to come and get it. While I was waiting the male employee was playing very roughly with the guinea pigs and tapping on the cages. Then a girl walks out with birds on her shoulders and it was reliving itself all over the carpet. read more

Hey I'm Liam. I live near this Pet Supermarket and go there all the time. Its a friendly environment it has lots of diverse and useful supplies and is very quick and easy. My family got a little green cheek conure there that is as good and nice as can be and we get all its supplies there. We renovated our aquarium and bought our fish at the store and it looks great thanks to Pet Supermarket. We get our dog supplies and hermit crab food too. Partially why we have so many pets is because the store is so great. The ferrets and rabbits and some birds are nice and would kill for a home. You can tell the employees work with them. I've been shopping at this pet supermarket for a few years, every two weeks I buy the same 25lb. Wellness Core, 12 cans of wellness stews, 13oz beggin' strips, and the occasional toys or clothes. I ONCE bought FOUR fish from here. I usually don't buy fish from pet supply places such as this, but being two days before thanksgiving, in a haste, and needing to replace a bottom feeding catfish, I bought the only one they had on a dog food trip. I also purchased 3 mollies that caught my eye. Immediately after putting the fish in the tank I noticed the yellowish pollen like specs that appeared to be the dreaded ICK, a common disease in fish. I just hoped it wasn't what I thought. By the next day it was apparent, and the first few fish were already dead. 48 hours later every fish, 17 fish total, were dead. I followed the instructions, and took the dead fish back with my receipt. I only expected to be refunded the total for the fish I had just purchased. I was told that a manger was not in the store to review the refund. So I was told to leave the fish, receipt, and my information. I was surprised when within two hours a manager called me by phone, apologized, and offered a $50 store credit. Wow! This is customer service! That was over and beyond what I expected! I should have known this would never materialize without written proof, gift card, etc. She said simply notify a manager on my next trip to the store to utilize the store credit. My next trip to pet supermarket I forgot about the credit. The second trip back, today, I told the manager on duty about the promised credit. She was dumbfounded, and actually unsympathetic. She repeatedly told me if I could find my receipt she could refund the amount of the fish, although I continued telling her I had left the receipt with the store clerk previously. She then called another store manager, laughed during their conversation while standing in front of me, and told me that the manager that might have made that promise no longer worked there. Despite still having the pictures of the diseased fish while alive and after they were dead, a receipt from a aquatics store for $278 it took to completely restart my 50 gallon tank, she still could not offer me anything without a store receipt, and refused to look at them. I think just to get rid of me she finally offered a $10 credit. Laughedly, this is all the store ever owed me. But what I was most irritated about, is if you offer something, you should honor it. It was a shady thing to do. Overall the store is mediocre, and is a convienance, but I will no longer be spending my money here. read more
