My first car was a treasure to me. I had to go thru lawyers to get it from the owner (my own dad!) and it reflected the hard work and sacrifice I made to have the keys. After hearing stories of what a certain parental figure would do to people who didn't know better at his auto garage, I never wanted to take it to a small repair shop. A kid my age worked there who took a liking to my car-- '75 Cutlass. He was always honest with me even when I wanted to spend a lot of cash for something-- radiator service for example. He said, I would love to take your money, but it would be better to get it repaired elsewhere. I respect his honesty and professionalism. The other Jiffy Lubes suck!

Two weeks pass, called and heard the same excuses, they made an appointment just to cancel it the same day. Kept calling to get the run around. A MONTH later it's "on top of the pile". They haven't touched it, finally went in person and they seemed relieved for me to get it towed somewhere else. It just needed a sensor replaced. An hour to hour and a half job tops. They told me my car failed inspection but had kindly written up a quote for all the work that needed done. 2k in parts in labor for ball joints and new breaks. They said my breaks were so bad that the metal was showing. I don't wear a wedding band (religious reasons) so I'm sure they thought there would would be no one to catch them in their lie. My husband bought all the parts they said needed repaired and cleared a day to fix it only to find out that all my ball joints were just fine and there was plenty of pad left on my breaks! Took it to the place I normally get inspections and guess what-it passed no problem!
