Do NOT hire this company to do ANYTHING for you, no matter how simple!!! All they do is use the leaf blower to get dirt on anything that was once beautiful in your garden, and they also pull out any newly sprouted flowers you've planted. This has happened to me about 10 times. Sprouts climbing up a trellis and they ripped them out. A month later they've trampled on a different group of flower sprouts, killing everything. We apparently pay extra for them to use the vacuum instead of the leaf blower but every week it's a leaf blower, blowing everything to pieces. Getting dirt all over our windows. We cancelled their service in my area of the complex and they still come through, killing everything. I have had to ask roughly 15 times to stop "service" (damage) in our courtyard before anyone even took note. Three months later and the gardeners still find their way in, taking through new flowers, killing them. This business is utterly incompetent. No communication between any of them, no apologies, no refund, nothing remotely helpful. I am furious and have given up trying to even deal with them. Don't waste your precious time or energy. If you care about your garden or yard, hire someone else. Do not use this service, cancel now if you have them! If I could give negative stars, I would. Not only do they fail to nourish and beautify your yard, they actively destroy it and leave it much worse than what you started with. Extremely disappointed and upset with this company. This is the second time we have called this company regarding their employees, they continue to throw away all their trash in our garbage can leaving it too full for our own use. They managed to break off a piece of our porch. Usually they do half of their job and we end up having to sweep up what is left over. When they use their blowers they blast clippings and dirt directly into our house and flower pots until they are filled with clippings. read more

We hired this company for full service landscaping on our second home. They were extremely expensive compared to other gardeners we had hired but felt that if they did a great job, we would be okay with it. It seemed that every time they worked on our yard, we would find a broken sprinkler, pipe or auto timer; we would call them about it, they would fix it and send us an astronomical bill. $70/month is what full service gardening costs for our home. With all the repairs, we averaged $206 per month with Take Pride. They did a decent job of gardening but we just weren't willing to pay such a high price so we got someone else after the 3rd month. It's been several years since we've used them and to date, not one broken anything! read more

We've been using Take Pride for the last 2 years to redo our landscape and provide weekly maintenance. Milton and Michelle were great to work with during the beginning of their services. However, since increasing their monthly service fees last year, the quality of service has declined. We were receiving service every Monday and the gardeners would turn on their blowers for about 5 mins and then the hose for another 5 mins. A quick 10 mins later, they are off to service the next house. This past week we had some construction going on and there were some tools in the front yard. We noticed no work was done that day and shot Michelle an email to find out what happened. A week later she said there was too much construction to do any work and would do it later. By the end of the week, nothing was done so we called Take Pride to see what was going on. We received a call from a guy who didn't identify himself and started the call on the defensive stating it was our fault for having construction. I finally found out his name was John and that he was the co-founder of Take Pride. I proceeded to ask if he could give me some background as to why his business was called "Take Pride". He laughed and said "No! I don't have to explain anything!" I never raised my voice, but he called me an asshole for asking him that question. I asked if this is how he treats all his self proclaimed 500+ customers and he said they all loved him. I asked if he would provide any references and he replied ,"yeah right!" I then asked if he had ever set foot on my property. He replied "I've been by it." I asked what that meant and he said "I drove by it before." I then asked if he's never been on our property, how can he know how his work is and he replied, "I don't have to." Needless to say, I told him that we would not be using his services any longer. I would think being in the service industry, a co-founder should really treat their customers with more respect. A simple, we'll make sure it gets handled next visit would have sufficed. Instead he ended with, "like in a restaurant, we re-use the right to refuse service to anyone." Though, he said it wrong, I knew he was flustered and left it at that. The guys that come to tend my yards are really professional and care about what they are doing. They don't leave a mess and when asked to do a little extra, are always happy and willing to please. Excellent customer service when calling their office. I forgot to pay my bill for a few months and they didn't harass me when I called them. read more

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with take pride. They are thorough and very professional, not to mention fast. The workers are always friendly and respectful of my property. Gardeners steal cuttings of plants and actually whole plants. No attention to detail. No service to the sprinklers. Blowing leaves and yard debris into the garden beds. Hacked our bushes and plants with no aesthetic detail. Half ass service and over priced. I called the office many times to discuss the issues and no call back. I met with Milton and explained my requirements for the job. I wanted more than a mow & blow since I was a landlord for the property and didn't want to have to come by to inspect for issues. I was willing to pay 70% more for this additional piece of mind. My #1 priority was NEVER to use hedge trimmers, #2 Check sprinklers if they notice dry spots and inform me so I could repair, #3 Prune plants/dead flowers as needed. Milton stated that they would perform regular weed prevention & fertilization for the lawn. The initial cleanup work and maintenance was fine. A couple months later, I met with Milton to discuss additional work and walked him through the yard and pointed out where plants/beds hadn't been maintained in a while. He informed his crew and they corrected during the next visit. On one monthly bill, I get an additional charge for sprinkler replacement. I called and explained that they were to notify me of issues and that I was to replace. I paid for the parts since they had done the work, though. A couple months pass and I go by the property and the bushes have been completely trimmed into hedges! Dead cut branches laid intertwined in the new 'hedge'. Another area where I had a drip system had been completely tilled and the drip lines cut or moved away from the plants they were to water. The lawn LOOKED TERRIBLE. Obvious they had never done a treatment for weeds or any fertilizer. I called Milton, explained the issues and said I wanted to cancel their service and wasn't going to pay for the last 3 weeks service since they ruined my plants Milton said he would come by and check it out. I took pics and forwarded to Take Pride. My next bill reflected that they credited me 1 week of service. I have emailed multiple times and get calls from some other guy 'to collect'. . I would never work with this company solely based on my experience with them at the gas station near my house. They bring all of their trucks and take up every single pump at 7 am when everyone is trying to go to work. And instead of filling up and getting out of the way, since lines are building up, they just sit there and chit chat with each other. Looking at other reviews, it looks like they don't do much work and probably have all day to chit chat with each other. This company seems very selfish and they're employees have no consideration for other people. I can't even imagine how hey are still in business. read more

Love love Take Pride in Long beach, have a very large 4 Plex in the Shore, the crew show each week on time and take care of every inch of the 7000 sqft lot. Take extreme care of the grass, and the flowering beds, the lighting, and the timers. Michelle in the office is always quick to response to all emails and calls, very attentive and personal. Have had the crew update the wiring, update the sprinklers, the lighting, have had them trim the trees, yard clean, came this month and turned all the dirt to prep for new planting this season. Fired this company six weeks ago for bad service can't get my keys back calling everyday no return calls..ill keep calling you.

Once I spent $$ having them construct my yard they stopped caring. They overwatered so extreme that they killed a 20 year old, 30' high Magnolia tree...and took no responsibility for it. They "fixed" a blown fuse in my irrigation controller by sticking in a piece of tin foil and routinely dumped my yard waste and my neighbors in my trash cans instead of hauling it off like a real maintenance company. When I finally hired someone new the owner John's response was to call us "deadbeats"....real professional outfit. Hire at your own risk. read more

Very very disappointed. The crew created hole in my backyard while, John in the office (major attitude) never apologized. His solution was to charge me more money to fix the problem his crew created. The front walkway was never clean after the crew left. Always mud and dirt left behind. Way too expensive for the poor service. read more

I've been using them for 2 years now. They're professional and are licensed-insured. They also have an office to call into in case there's a problem. Their estimator, Milton, is pretty knowledgeable and honest. Also, their fees aren't too bad, comparable to some of the other mom/pop type of outfits that usually aren't licensed-insured.
