Double scoop with Huckleberry and Moose Tracks.
    Melyssa G.

Oh boy was it a crazy hot day today. Ice cream hit the spot. Never had Huckleberry so we tried that and it was pretty darn good. I suggest you get a scoop of that. Also got the Moose Tracks and that had some big yummie chocolate pieces. If you like chocolate, then that will suffice. You had your choice of a cup, waffle cone or regular cone. Staff members were super nice. Service was quick. Sit outside and enjoy the fun signage they have out front. Turn around and enjoy the views too.

Just had the best espresso I've had in Alaska; and I'm a Cuban American that takes his espresso seriously! The young ladies running the shop we're very friendly, the hot chocolate was rich and the fresh made donuts were amazing! You must stop here while at Denali.

Nuttin' to love at Denali Glacier Scoops Ice Cream, but cool 'n dreamy ice cream in a fresh-baked waffle cone. The smell of the cones is such a lure that I simply didn't even try to resist. This ice cream shop is in the long strip mall of stores across from the hotels located just a mile north of the entrance to Denali National Park. If you are visiting the park and staying overnight, you'll surely hit the strip ... and find yourself tempted by the smell of fresh warm waffle cones. A single scoop is $3.95 or get a double for $5.95 with just a $1 extra for that sweet treat waffle cone. Flavors when we went included Moose Tracks Caramel Caribou Cookie Dough Cookies & Cream Espresso Explosion Black Cherry Dulce de Leche Maple Nut Strawberry Chocolate Vanilla Blueberry Cheesecake Butter Pecan Birthday Cake Bubblegum Lemon Meringue Mint Chip Soft serve is an option for $3.95 or get a Sundae for $7.95. Coffee, Cappuccino, Mocha, and Espresso will give you a jolt if you needed it. Shakes are $8.95 for large while an Ice Cream Float is just $5.95. Your on vacation, right? Get what you want ... cause, admit it, you want ice cream.

In Alaska, ice cream seems to be served undersized and overpriced. Denali Dancer's smallish "small" was $2.75, and my mini "medium" was $3.75. At least it was served quickly and with a smile. With all the glaciers around, maybe I should open a shaved ice stand. At tourist prices, I'd make a pretty good summer income.

Conveniently located across the street from the major hotels in Denali National Park, this ice cream parlor has about 20 different flavors. Earlier during this late-July day they seemed to do a pretty brisk amount of business with a steady stream of tourists. My brother and I stopped by around 10PM under the bright Alaskan Summer sky. The service was very fast and friendly. I sampled the huckleberry and Maui Wowie flavors, both of which were very good. My brother ordered a one scoop huckleberry ($3.75) on a waffle cone (+$1). When I saw the size of the scoop, I asked if I could get two half scoops instead of one big scoop. He said that it was no problem and honored my request at no extra charge. So, I ordered a waffle cone with huckleberry and black cherry. It was delicious and really hit the spot after an evening of river rafting. The waffle cone was very crisp and tasted extremely fresh.

This little ice cream shop is located in the busy Denali National Park strip mall located across from the Princess Wilderness Lodge on the Parks Hwy. Since it is the only ice cream shop within probably 100+ miles, they had a pretty big crowd the day we came. There is a wide variety of flavors, especially many berry flavors. The ice cream itself is very creamy and almost makes you forget you are in the states. However, the prices are pretty high, to the point where they charges us for an extra spoon. A waffle cone by itself was around $3 extra. The workers are all from Eastern Europe, and while I have found most to be quite pleasant, these were pretty impatient and careless. Overall, the ice cream is good, but the service and prices just don't cut it. But hey, when you're the only place that serves ice cream in the area, you pretty much have the right to charge whatever you want.

I've cream was yummy and portions were generous. Staff was polite and patient which can be difficult in a heavily touristy area.

Great ice cream, but poorly run. We called to verify hours and were told 10:00 closing. We arrived at 9:45 and it was loxked up tight.

Wide choice of ice cream flavors. Do not miss their huckleberry and moose trail flavors. Giving them four stars because they are expensive.

Loved it! While in…read moreDenali, Alaska on vacation, we decided to have our 29th wedding anniversary dinner here at Canton Steakhouse. My first impression upon checking in at the hostess station and looking into the seating area, was that it might not be as good an experience as I'd hoped. I was wrong. They were jammed. We got seated at one of three 2-tops next to the open kitchen. Normally I enjoy being able to watch food being prepared but I thought it was going to be too loud and busy. Well, it was loud but tolerable and it was a very busy space but I really enjoyed watching the grill-man, the other prep folks as well as the 2 People doing the finishing touches, garnishes and delivering the food. Our server was Regan. What a pleasure she was. Really delightful, helpful and attentive. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer and slowly enjoyed both. Later, we ordered a single meal to share. We loved it! Here's what we had: Drinks: Cosmo cocktail Lavender Gin cocktail Blackberry Smash cocktail All the drinks were well crafted and very tasty. Appetizer: Halibut Bites Really nice appetizer. Salad: Wedge with Blue Cheese dressing The salad was large enough to share and we asked for some extra dressing. Really good. Side: Marscapone Potato Gratin These were really special. Love it. Main: Prime Beef Filet with Lobster Herb Butter Oh my word, super tender and flavorful. If we find ourselves back in the area, we'd eat here again!

On the first visit we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Bartenders were friendly even though many were working their first day of the season. Ordered the cub size (12") Boreal Forest which is perfect for 2 people. Also had a few beers from their very long menu. Inside was cabin cozy. They also have outdoor seating. Overall, excellent experience! Boreal 5/5 stars. For our second visit, we needed a quick lunch between two excursions so we ordered pickup and tried the Homestead this time. Took 20 minutes from calling in to the pizza being ready which worked well. Homestead 4/5 stars, crust was still amazing but pizza felt like it needed something more. Very happy we found this place on our first day in Denali.

If I was just rating the pizza, it'd be a 4 stars cause we thoroughly enjoyed it. Average size for…read morethe price, good amount of cheese (almost too heavy personally) and pepperoni but fantastic crust. Super light, nice air bubbles and charred just enough but not burnt. Crust had nice structure/crumb and chew as well. Really solid overall and would definitely get it again. My few issues: -Saturday late afternoon/early evening I get it'll be busy but the front of house was just way unorganized and none of the staff seemed super helpful till I had actually ask someone where to place a to go order. I was literally standing in front of them and no one acknowledged me lol. It was also so cramped with people standing around everywhere for no reason it seemed. -We ordered to go as mentioned and they text you when your order is ready. Cool, not a problem. What they forgot to mention was you get a text as items on your order become ready. So you'll get your appetizers or whatever else that are quicker to make well before your actual pizza. Do you eat them hot in your car while waiting for the rest of your order? Or let them get cold and eat them when you get home later? Who does it that way?!? Absolutely ridiculous and so dumb. Have proper kitchen planning and make food so it all comes out hot and at once. -Just FYI, the ravioli appetizer for $16 came with 5 raviolis. Yeah you hear that right, only FIVE raviolis in an order for 16 bucks. That should be a crime and such a rip off. I expected at least 10 of them for that price. But hey, you get both marinara and pesto, so that's nice. -Last issue was when they brought my pizza, it didn't have my ranch's that I ordered and paid for. It took probably 5 minutes and the staff going back n forth 3 times saying someone must've taken them. It took a manager to get ranch's from the kitchen and bring them up front...Then tells the to go staff that the kitchen sent them with my ravioli that was sent half an hour earlier, which they didn't. Why was it so hard to get some ranch?! And I paid $50 for a pizza, appetizer and can of side, why would I lie about getting my extra sauce? Shouldn't have even been an issue for a dollar worth of ranch IMO.. I gave it a 3 star overall because the pizza was really good and would've given it a 4* on its own but everything else was a 2* as outlined above. Definitely things that could be improved upon at the end of the day, but they do make some really solid pizza.
