This is some legit and hearty birria. We loved how generous they were with the fillings where both the tacos and ramen were loaded with tender meat and other toppings. The consomme on the side was deep and flavorful with the right amount of fat to coat the tacos well. Great amount of melted cheese in the tacos too. I've seen TaKoz Mod Mex a few times and really didn't think anything of it. Let's be real, there is no shortage of trucks dishing out the same kind of foods. Thanks to my daughter's school event, I was able to give them a try. The menu has all the items you would typically expect: quesadillas, tacos, burritos, & nachos [but made with fries]. Purchases: *Mexican Soda [Jarritos- which flavors sold out quite quickly] *Quezadilla w/ Carne Asada *3 Takoz Your Choice- beef, chicken, pork Food was good. Meats were seasoned very well, meats were not overcooked/dry, and portions were absolutely generous. Cost is kind of on the higher end but you are not being served food packed with cheap fillers. As a fair warning, once you start to eat it becomes very hard to stop. 5/5 stars. The lines were long but for good reason. I'd easily eat here again. These guys were outside of Pour Decisions today so we grabbed a bite. The line was short which was nice so our order was ready in under 15 minutes. Here's what we got: PIZZADILLA - this was smaller than I thought but ended up being large enough to feed the 3 of us who weren't starving. The meat was super tender and the tortilla was crisp and yummy. I wished there was a little more heat and a bit more tang to cut the richness of the meat and cheese. The fresh lime squeeze was nice. It was also pretty greasy but that added to the flavor. BIRRA FRIES - These weren't my favorite. Kinda one note IMO but cooked well. Would have liked more gooey cheese and again, something to brighten it up a bit. Maybe a lime cilantro crème or something and more of the mango salsa. It was just a lot of fries under the meat. Overall the service was great and quick for being made fresh to order. It would have been nice to have had paper plates and lots more napkins because there is no real way to share without making a mess. I also would have liked more salsa but it sounded like they were running low so no extras were available. This would be outstanding bar grub so maybe next time I'll try it with a beer! read more

First time trying this food truck. Also first time trying the Melita which is braised beef with cheese stuffed between 2 toasty crispy tortillas. It's like gourmet quesadilla. Really good seasoning on the braised beef. It had the flavor of roasted chilis and maybe cumin. The beef looked fibrous but so soft and not dry at all. The tortilla's crispiness was the perfect compliment to the saucy beef. The tortillas had some charred spots which added another layer of flavor with slight bitterness and grilled smokiness. Lots of cheese which helped balance the savory taste of the meat. A very slight spicy kick from the meat. If you prefer it more spicy, you can drizzle the chipotle Sriracha sauce that it came with. Price was $8, so reasonably priced. It was filling and make the taste buds happy and satisfied. Didn't wait long for the food. The staff who took the order was nice. Soooooo goooood. I crave them all the time. I've tried literally everything on their menu and nothing is bad. The service is fast, too. Even on busy nights I wait no longer than 20 minutes total. Also the price is amazing compared to other birria trucks in the area. I can't say much about the location because it changes frequently. That's the only downfall is you have to watch Instagram the morning of to see where they will be if there even open at all. Quesabirria and pizzadilla are the favorites. I was craving some fries, but was too afraid to get a whole order, so the owner was really nice and got me a small tray of it to try. No salt, and super delicious! +100 PRICING/MENU. Yay! Super affordable, and HUGE portions! Everything on the menu looked amazing. We ordered: 1) Knockout Burrito // HALLELUJAH. AMAZING. 3 types of meat, fries, an egg...YUM. The concept is cool but nothing out of the ordinary because almost anything "fusion" if done right can be awesomely delish plus there are tons of food trucks doing the same thing nowadays. I was on lunch and was about to go on a walk around the building like I usually do but I heard my name so I turned and saw my former coworker from Extreme Networks. I didn't want to eat because a) I didn't want to spend and b) I didn't want the calories but he talked me into trying a chicken taco (w/ the mandarin orange). I forgot how the slaw tasted (my fault for waiting weeks to write this review) however, I do remember the chicken being a little greasy. I don't know the purpose for the orange wedge (I don't eat fruits or as my boyfriend would say, "You don't eat anything healthy") but overall the taco was OK. The presentation was very nice.. I go after food trucks. Heck, I have a few of the schedules memorized (Mogo's, OMNinja, Mayo and Mustard, Chairman Bao, etc.) but the one thing I told them is that they must be able to accept Visa/MC. Saw this awesome truck with great graphics at Movable Feasts, since my brother and I were looking for purely Mexican styled food versus Mexican Asian fusion we decided to try TaKoz out. Since we ordered many other things at the truck meet, we decided to go with their beef El TaKo and a Coca Cola. It's the name of the truck so why not? The beef taco came out on corn tortillas, beef, corn, lettuce and a wedge of lime. I doused it with their chipotle sauce. I thought the marinade for the beef was on the sweeter side and the lime definitely accented the taco, the beef was also really tender. I thought the corn was a bit strange as it seemed more like a southwest signature, but I suppose that's what the "Mod" part of their taco is. Their menu is pretty good and has all the basics like tacos, burritos, and burrito bowls. All there items I felt were reasonably priced which was nice. I decided to try there Nacho Libre Fries with Chicken. Let me start by saying these nacho fries were delicious there layered with Monterey cheese at the bottom and then covered in nacho cheese. It comes with cilantro and jalapenos which added a really nice flavor. The is chicken marinated in their house sauce and the chicken was tender and juicy. The serving size was large which was nice and it was priced just right. They also have a mini salsa bar I tried the Spicy Mango, and the chipotle-based sauce both were really good. The Spicy Mango is on the sweet and spicy side, while the chipotle sauce was creamy which went amazing with the french fries. My only complaint was that the food was a bit to salty, my co-worker had the burrito and also said it was a bit on the salty side. The website said they had tortas, which they didn't not. It also said they had churros, they didn't have that either. I was not in the mood for cooking tonight so we had it anyway. I ordered a regular chicken burrito. I have to say it was pretty good. With the chipotle sauce (bottom) pic. The mango sauce was okay, not bad though (top). They both gave the burrito more flavor, however, they are not spicy. The burritos taste sort of like chipotles chain, since the rice is white and the beans are black. I felt like I was eating a semi healthy burrito haha. I'd eat here again (if I didn't feel like cooking). I ordered 1 'El Beef Tako' for $3. The taco was topped with a lot of arugula but underneath all the leafy greens was a whole lot of beef. The meat was good, but it contained a lot of fatty pieces which I am not a fan of. I was given a piece of lime which was dry and contained no juice; served no purpose. I did, however, appreciate the guy who told me there was no salsa on my taco and offered some sauce/salse suggestions. I took a side of their creamy chipotle sauce which was mild, not spicy at all. TaKoz Mod Mex is my fiance's favorite food truck so naturally I had high expectations and I knew I had to try them when they came to my workplace in Palo Alto. I'm happy to report that TaKoz Mod Mex did not disappoint. I ordered two veggie tacos and one beef taco ($9 for three tacos). Only a few minutes after ordering, my tacos were ready. They certainly looked healthier (and more beautiful) than your average tacos because they were covered with fresh arugula and cilantro. I love me some greens so I was very happy about this though I know some people find arugula to be too bitter. My coworker doesn't like it so she asked them to leave it off and they ended up giving her some extra veggies on the side... nice of them! The ingredients were so fresh and the flavors were remarkable. The veggie tacos had an assortment of poblano peppers, shiitake mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes topped with plenty of arugula, cilantro and sweet roasted corn. These were not the lackluster vegetarian tacos that I'm used to. I enjoyed them so much that I almost wished I had ordered one more. The beef taco was also on point with plenty of flavorful carne asada. My fiance would order their burrito when they'd come to Off the Grid Cupertino in the past and he raved about it every time.
