    Paste estilo Real del Monte

Claudia and her staff are very welcoming. We have been her customers for more than 25 years, she is an expert at preparing the English pastes from Real Del Monte, Hidalgo in Mexico. Her secret recipe makes each flavor unique and extremely delicious, she cooks with love, homemade food is the best. I highly recommend you to try the green mole and of course the original paste made with potato and ground beef. Thank you for your time and dedication to keep the taste and quality as amazing year after year.

The side is huge for the price. Full of filling, hot and fresh. However I think it does need a little more flavor due to my liking. The beef and potatoes are ok (not my favorite). Green chicken is pretty good Creamy chicken needs more seasoning.

Authentic empanadas. Our favorite is the pollo verde. Just like my abuela's salsa verde. Was surprised they make arroz con leche empanadas.

A few years back I was on a major empanada kick. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't able to really…read morefulfill those cravings at any particular business. It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. Parking is disastrously busy so come here with patience- it'll be worth all the hassle. I promise!

3.5 star. We had an…read moreimpromptu visit because someone had a craving of empanadas on a Saturday morning. I thought it would be hard to search Mexican restaurants one by one to pick out the ones that serve empanadas; I was wrong. One easy search and BAE pops up. I was very happy to arrive at a private parking lot instead of looking for street parking or desperately searching for a parking structure. BAE is clean, organized, and neat; the interior is more like a cafe than a messy mom-and-pop restaurant. The empanadas are clearly displayed on the cashier's side, each with a label underneath. There are corners decorated for selfies or simply a good mood cheering. Overall, it's visually appealing. We ordered the Chicken and Mushroom, Potato Egg and Cheese, and Bacon Egg and Cheese. The cashier was polite and offered us some sauce choices. They are $0.5 each. We chose Tsatziki which has Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil and dill. It wasn't our cup of tea. We chose take out and each empanada was nicely warmed, wrapped and clearly labeled in each paper. The empanadas I would rate them in this order: potato egg and cheese, chicken mushroom, bacon egg and cheese. The Potato Egg and Cheese has diced onions inside, but it's soft and warm, very balanced in flavor and texture. Top notch comfort food. The Chicken and Mushroom filling was creamier than I thought. I was not expecting a white cream cheese element in it, nevertheless, chunky chicken and mushroom slices are solid. I was most disappointed at Bacon Egg and Cheese. It was too salty and the egg looked and tasted like those overcooked dry breakfast eggs from Comfort Inn breakfast where it came out from some kind of liquid egg box. In summary, location, service, interior 4 star; food 3.5 stars.

Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. Conclusion: We've been on the hunt for the best empanadas in the South Bay, and we finally found them.

This isn't just a one-time thing--almost every time I come here, they're gone. I usually get there about 11am. Big E is much closer to my house than their sister cafe, BAE, which is why I keep trying to come here instead. But if the sausage and egg empanadas are selling out this consistently, they're clearly one of the more popular items. You would think they'd adjust and stock more of them rather than repeatedly running out. I usually end up driving to BAE anyway, where they actually have them in stock and, in my experience, the presentation is better too. I'd much rather support the location closest to me, but it's frustrating to keep making the trip only to find the same popular item sold out again. Hopefully they start stocking according to demand.

Check your empanada for mold!…read more We stopped by for breakfast and got chilaquiles and a chicken and mole empanada. Enjoyed our chilaquiles (do try this if you stop by), and were wrapping up our meal with the empanada when we discovered a chunk of fuzzy blue grey mold in the MIDDLE of the empanada about 1" in length and 3/8" wide. The empanada was already cut in half and wasn't showing from the outside or the cut area, but the mold was in one half of the empanada and I broke the other half which was normal looking. Thankfully we spit it out, and didn't eat the bite that we took. The waitress had offered to replace it but we said no because we were so shocked. We were kind of disappointed that the manager didn't try to come and address the issue with us. Just left it to their serving staff who quickly cleared our table and gave us the check.
