I have been coming here for a little over a month now (8 cycles) and I can honestly say, it gets better with time. My first reaction to this place was a negative one because the employees seemed unprofessional and more interested in laughing and joking with one another. After coming here for weeks, I see MAjOR improvement. Some employees are better than others but it's like that everywhere. I enjoy the attention the pay (majority of the time) to the patients. The 1st time you go, make sure to bring proper paperwork or you will be denied. Be sure to have a LOT of free time because the 1 let process can take up to 8 hours to complete. The second time, you'll need proof of address to be seen. I like the perks and bonuses they have....for iPads, more money etc. Overall, good set up, ok execution, obviously will be back. read more

I've been coming here over a year . So I go on a Saturday was hooked to the machine for about 10 min my machine acts up so one of the employees comes checks the tubes and it works .. well for about 5min passed and it starts acting up again so instead of maybe unhooking me and sticking me again she comes overs and fiddles with the tubes and next thing you know my blood is everywhere . So I can't go on with my session instead they take me off and that's that. I come to schedule another appointment for the day I usually go and I can't go I call and I'm told I can't go back until February because of the incident and then not knowing how much blood they took blah blah etc I'm pissed !!!! Why couldn't they tell me the reasoning the day the incident happened . But because of the lady who was fucking with the machine and tubes I am out of the little extra money I get which helps out tremendously especially now for the holiday season . I'm deferred because of something out of my control . This isn't right and it's all bullshit Honestly Something else should be able to be done .instead of having that donor not being able to come back cause you ASSUME so much blood was taken out and because of a workers messing with the shit read more

Given we're in the middle of a pandemic and most are out of work I can never say anything against donating plasma, regardless of the center it is at. But if you are transgender, I would highly recommend finding another center to donate with. I hate to be a nagging Karen with this, but after donating over 21 times most of the employees could recognize me from sheer frequency; but still, my name and my pronouns get mistaken. The most recent visit happened today and even after one employee recognized my name, and my identity as a recurring donor, I still heard him calling me "she" from not but 5 ft away. Well within earshot. If its strangers I will never see again, its fine. If it's from people who see me frequently enough to have a working relationship with, especially those related to a medical field-- And I even requested them to put my preferred name and gender in my personal file, which has been highlighted-- It just gets exhausting. It's tiring, it's detrimental, and every time I go there, It sets off a huge wave of dysphoria that takes days to get over. When people KNOW they shouldn't be doing it and they do it anyway, it's no longer something that can be excused as an accident. It's either laziness, or it's intentional; Either way, I almost always come out of there worse than when I came in. All in all I am sick of the lack of preparedness and solutions to handling transgender people, who are in the process of transitioning. There is no excuse to be treated badly when someone knows exactly who you are. I have to wait and work and undergo years of treatment and surgery just to be myself. Unwillingness to accommodate us in society when we already go through this, does nothing but add more stress and pain to an already hellish struggle. Obviously this does not represent all the employees who work there; as there have been many kind faces and workers there I genuinely looked forward to seeing when I came to donate; But the point remains, the bad outweighs the good for me personally, and if you are transgender I would donate elsewhere or do so infrequently with this center. Not a bad place, nice enough people but they have a tough time getting the needle straight. I get people are a "tough stick" but every time? With multiple people including their "leads" that when they see you walk in they have somebody else try. There has to be better training or someone better trained that can handle the tough ones without bruising arms and then putting you on restriction. read more

I usually don't ever write reviews but I had to for this place. They deserve it. I am recently a new donor, never donated at any center before this one and my first day there I felt so unbelievably taken care of by all 3 people I encountered that day. It was awesome! Every visit I've had since then has been the best. The staff are always very welcoming, kind, friendly and laid back. The girl that is usually at the front desk is super nice! They all do their job very well and no matter the kind of day they are having they don't let it effect how they do their job. They all made me feel comfortable really fast. The app they have makes it super easy to make or cancel appointments. I'm always in and out of there within an hour. Great way to make some extra cash and helping others. Biomat USA/Talecris Plasma Resource is filled with friendly and kind staff always offering you water and pretzels along the donation journey. They consider the safety of donors with utmost importance. It was my first time donating at Talecris in Lakewood. I called ahead of time and they got me prepared with everything I needed: my ID, Social Security card and the instructions that I eat a lot before arriving. Once I got there, I showed them my Identity information and they offered me pretzels and water. Then I went to go see the nurse, James. He was professional and intelligent yet supremely bad-ass! He performed my physical thoroughly. I felt safe having this company donate my plasma. We got along so well that I wasn't even remotely nervous to hand him my cup of warm urine. He even stated "that was fast". I would say James and I had a good relationship. He even let me in on a little secret -- they used to serve Cliff bars instead of pretzels, but too many people had peanut allergies. James directed me back to the receptionist to get paired with someone to draw my plasma, and at that moment, I knew I would miss him for a long time. When I got back to the receptionist, she was in the middle of denying someone who reeked of some kind of herbs. As he stormed off he yelled "since when is that a rule?!" I asked the receptionist "Doesnt it smell like herbs?" and she said "thanks for reminding me." Then looked deep into my eyes and asked if I wanted any more pretzels and water. Once I was paired with my plasma harvester, I noticed her nametag said "Yellow" so I said "Your name is yellow? That's such a beautiful name." She looked at me like this "" and said, "My name is Cortney...I'm just working in the yellow zone." Then she gave me a squeeze ball to help suck the plasma out faster. So once I had filled about a Gatorade bottle-worth of plasma, my lips got really cold and I started sweating profusely. I knew something wasn't right, mainly because I remember my old friend James telling me about this experience he overheard a new donor have. He said that the donor got really cold, then started sweating, then he tried to lift up his arm to try to call for help but couldn't move, and so he passed out, barfed, and soiled himself on the comfy plasma donation seats. Then it hit me: I never accepted the offering of pretzels and water. I was malnourished, but at this point was too late. I tried to lift my arm to call over for help, but I started to lose vision. With all the energy left in my body, I managed to let my head fall to the side and turn to another plasma donater sitting by me. By this time I was essentially blind, so I just shouted "Miss!" to this woman sitting next to me, and she called for help. James came running. Instantly I felt my rectum dilate and I had the urge to vomit, and I thought I was going to be yet another of James' horror stories. But right before I soiled the chair, James told be that they were returning my fluids back to you cooling me down with ice packs. My rectum returned to normal and the vomit slithered back down my esophagus. Once my fluids were fully returned and they unhooked me from the plasma machine, I could finally stand up. I walked over to my bag and drank an old kale shake. I gave the woman next to me who had called James over a Trader Joe's date and peanut bar as a token of my gratitude. My vision was soon restored but I had a terrible headache and couldn't really form sentences. James wanted to makes sure I was ok, so he ran some quick medical tests and he gave me suggestions on how to feel better. Then he offered me the iconic pretzels and water. I stared at him, unsure what to think. Then he added they had some Mountainberry Blast Powerade. I took the Powerade. read more

This place USED to be pretty good. Now you're better off not wasting your time. Unless you are completely unemployed and able to spend god knows how long waiting, don't bother. I have been a regular donor with them for almost a year now but I'm at my limit. They recently implemented this "appointment" system, when it started they told everyone that appointments would be required through their website/app. That was complete BS and I got proof today. I am a full time nurse who loves the chance to give back in my spare time. So I did my very best to schedule appointments when I got off slightly early. I wanted to give a slightly higher star review because some of the staff are very lovely and kind, but I just couldn't seeing as I have been openly mocked by staff for being upset my appointment time meant nothing and I have sat on multiple occasions watching several employees laugh and gossip while 5+ people waited. So to say the least the staff is passable. Today I went as normal, approached a staff member and gave my appointment time, they were full and I was slightly early so when I was told to wait outside I wasn't surprised but asked if I could still be seen for my appointment time because my time is limited. I was told yes. Fast forward to 15 minutes past my appointment time with me trying to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt. The last straw hit when that same staff member came out and brought in someone who had been waiting less than half the time as me and had openly stated they DIDN'T have an appointment. Sadly to say I will never be returning. I fully believe that leadership said to the employees, "Hey, we made this appointment system, completely ignore it and do whatever the hell you feel like." My boyfriend an I were first time walk-in donors. The older male nurse who completed my physical was so kind and informative, I am in nursing school and ask a lot of question, and he was happy to answer any and all of them. It takes about 3 hours your first time donating, just so you can go through all the necessary formalities, but it went by quickly. Arika, was the lovely woman who stuck us with needles, and was kind to let us sit next to each other. She was hilarious and very informative. I am still amazed as I donate blood often, but plasma donation needles use a 12-gauge, I did not even feel the prick when she did it. Thank you girl! The only negative I would say is the office staff does seem to socialize a lot, in a loud manner, and walk in an out of rooms where personal questions are being asked. read more

I am TERRIFIED of needles. Completely terrified. I was so scared to do this but I finally managed to. The staff here are incredible. They helped me feel comfortable literally from the first interaction I had walking in the door. They offer an amazing level of care and listened to my concerns (and took them seriously) and answered my questions. I was wary of coming here because of the reviews and location, but the other location referred me here because my veins are small or something like that. After coming here for almost 2 months, a lot of the bad reviews across the Internet, I feel are coming from people who don't follow the rules (how hard is it to be on time and drink water) or are just generally miserable people who can't read. The first time I went, I read the website throughly, cleared my day, got my photo id, SS card, and my cable bill. Ate a good meal and drank tons of water. It literally says on the website you need a photo id, SS card or tax return, and mail with your name and current address from the past 30 days. My first time took around 5 hours because it was busy, so I ended up having a reaction twords the end of my donating. The staff was super professional and got me back to feeling normal the second I said I didn't feel good. Checked my vitals 3x before letting me leave, gave me ice packs and water etc. Even though they give you water and a protein bar after your physical, it's not quite enough if you've been there most of the day. Eating right before you go in is crucial. Every time I've gone back, it takes about 2 hours. I make the appointment online, which is really convenient, show up on time, and here's how it goes: Come in, sign in on the sheet by your appointment time, wait about 10 min until you're called to do your screening questions, the you wait maybe 10 min to get your finger pricked and they check your vitals(how they make sure you're good to donate that day)probably takes about 5 min, then maybe another 10-15min to get on a bed and get going. I've never had a problem getting paid, never been mis-stuck, and while the staff isn't Chick-fil-A friendly, they arent rude IMO. Make an appointment, espically if you are a new donor! If you just walk in, especially on a busy day, youre gonna have a bad time. Show up to your appointment on time (there's literally a big sign by the sign in sheet that says if you're more than 10 min late they will bump you), drink tons of water (your pee should be practically clear prior to donating), and don't eat shit food before you go in. read more

I spoke to them on the phone and was able to set up an appointment for the next day. They said expect it to take 2 hours on my first visit. When I got there I tried to use the kiosk to check in because there was no one at the front desk. One of the nurses there at reception very rudely told me not to use the kiosk and was kind of rude during our interaction. Luckily I was assisted by everyone else after and everyone else was very and helpful! The process for screening takes 2 hours all together not including the actual blood drawing. It consists of getting a finger prick for blood, peeing in a cup to check protein, being asked a lot of questions and given a lot of details, and a small quiz on those details and questions they spent two hours asking you. After the screening process and you get approved the nice nurses in the back set you up on a machine that takes the plasma out of your blood and then returning the blood cells. This takes 45 minutes or longer to do. It depends on your body. When I was in there I came in well later than some others but got out sooner. The way you receive your money is through a pay card with can be taken out at a seven eleven for free. I received $75 my first 3 visits when I went. There is also a referral program which can get you some extra money. read more

The following review is by far the strangest Yelp review that I have ever written, and by far the most disgusting and atrocious. It actually pains me to write a bad review, but I feel it is necessary to do so from time to time. Today, what I did NOT like were two things: (1) a befouled piece of medical equipment and (2) a truly despicable employee. I just came here after graduating from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. While I was a student, I would infrequently donate some plasma at the local CSL, which used to be located on campus (University and Huron). It was not a classy place, but, as a former medic, I know the value of plasma donation to society - I also needed the money at the time as well. A lot of the donors always said that the local Talecris was a bit more "refined" than CSL. That is why I chose to donate at TPR in Denver, versus another of the multiple other locations. I felt validated in my decision up until today. First of all, I like all of the staff (except for one HIGHLY notable exception). I like being able to sit while waiting to be called (I have a podiatric disability acquired in the Army that causes severe pain during prolonged standing). I like the adequate parking. I even like some of the clientele that frequent the establishment (which is shocking for a place that gives you money for pretty much selling parts of your physiology). I laid myself down on the table today, and one of the staff set me up and started the extraction process. Almost immediately, I smelled a horrific odor that can only come from an unwashed body in close proximity to my highly-sensitive olfactory bulbs. At first I thought it was the staff member that set me up, but when he left, the smell remained as strongly as ever. I kept looking around for the source, but it was not until I was almost halfway done with the process that I came to realize where the foul odor was coming from: it was coming from the blood pressure cuff around my arm! It smelled like straight-up unwashed armpit! I was APPALLED! A staff member noticed my discomfort and came over to ask if I was okay. I told her what was wrong and she shrugged and walked off. I told another staff member the same thing and she went to speak up about it to someone else, which was some comfort at least. However, she spoke to another staff member, and the staff member just stated that I was in the middle of a draw, and there was nothing I could do. She also stated that the cuffs were all sanitized at the end of the day. Well, first of all, that information helped me none in the least; second, she could have just waited until the draw cycle, paused the machine, and then replaced the cuff; and third, this is APPALLING to a former medic in the Army! If we had a BP cuff that smelled bad or was discolored, we would wash and sanitize it immediately or just throw the damn thing out! If there is smoke, there may be fire, and we did not want contaminated products potentially spreading infection to our patients, our other medical equipment, or ourselves. She also had a nasty attitude toward me that was completely unwarranted and absolutely infuriating! It was like my mere presence and my discomfort were nothing but unwanted inconveniences in her day! I demanded that I speak to a supervisor, and, when he eventually arrived, (I was told that he was in the cold storage area,) he was very understanding (thus why I gave 2 stars, instead of just 1). I was eventually disconnected, and I thankfully no longer had to deal with the obnoxious odor of B.O.. I asked the staff member if she threw it away or not, and I was told that she would look into that; this did not please me very much, but I left it at that and exited the building. This is the strangest advice I have EVER given others outside the medical field, but here it is: before you lay down on the table, smell your equipment first. read more

AVOID this place. most of them do not know how to insert needle. they just find the vein and start jabbing without directing. they never get it eight the first, second or even third time.. it hurts!! sometimes thry even bruise u and that makes you ineligible to donate for a whole week. only had luck with two people that actually know what they're doing. but the other ones make it sopainful and i honestly don't want to go back because of it. aside from the pain, the staff yell at each other. zero professionalism. third, they don't pay consistently. they pay u 32 then 42 then 37? how is that supposed to get me to come back. read more

My appt was scheduled at 345. It's now 5. Haven't been connected yet. Apparently they increased scheduling without increasing staff to compensate. Very unprofessional. Corporate needs to increase staff to make up for this. I know it's about their bonuses. But the fact that there are more donors this month should easily mean that they can increase staffing. They decreased compensation as well. I know for a fact that this company is compensated greatly for the plasma. I was reading the reviews and the bad ones proved to be right. Had my appointment & got skipped over by the staff because they have more interest in socializing & laughing then attending to their job. An hour and a half after I was there & did the questionnaire they denied me. Maybe in the future they should do the questionnaire FIRST!!! That way if there's any underlying issues you don't waste your time filling out paperwork,getting pricked & taking a picture!!! They don't seem to be very professional at all,young kids that maybe this is their first job ever. Plenty of staff but pretty slow even with minimal donors there that day. read more

donated Plasma in Madison Wisconsin for 3 years never had an issue. have had nonstop issues at this place, nurses missing veins more than they can hit it (I work out and my veins are literally out of my skin can't miss it) to the point that my arm is black and bruised from my wrist to my elbow. Have had nurses tell me "oh they must have been in a hurry to go on lunch" like it's funny that I can't bend my arm for a week. Today was the last straw as a nurse did What I assume was split a vein as blood starting pouring out of me. I asked the nurse to simply remove it. She instead tried convincing me to stay and started repositioning the needle as I'm pleading with her to please take it out. We were literally arguing as Her and another nurse tried to convince me to stay as they reposition the needle and more blood just keeps coming out. So gross, let me leave stop convincing me to stay omg felt powerless as your literally swaying a needle around inside of me. Have had more issues here in 6 weeks than another center in 3 years. Was placed on a week deferral after my 3 visit because of dark bruising literally from my wrist to elbow. Have had issues of missing my vein/rupturing/collapsing nearly every time I'm here (let's just readjust it) no just get it right the first time like they did at biolife in Madison you're putting in an I.V it's not brain surgery. there nurses either need better training, or just need to take there job more seriously. also if someone asks you to take a needle out take it out felt so not in control of the situation with two nurses arguing with me about what to do with my body. I asked you to take it out because I'm sick of you messing it up and just wanted to leave. go anywhere else this place is bad read more

Waiting for nearly 1.5 hrs before getting to donate and never enough staff is getting ridiculous. Why they took out the appointments is ridiculous. To wait so long constantly is what turns people away. Some people don't have an additional 3 hours a day to do this. You want more donors, but don't care about people's time. Slowest service, you make a 3:40 appointment and then sit for 50 minutes just to have your name called. They socialize more than do any work. What's the point of an appointment if you can't be seen within a reasonable time. You miss your appointment if you are 10 minutes late, but they can make you wait an hour before even making it to the screening process and then you wait some more. read more

Coming from BioLife in Longmont Colorado, it is really hard to meet the same standards that they do. However, from when I first arrived here at Tetracris I felt at home and at ease compared to some of the surrounding locations. The people are friendly and set realistic expectations when you arrive. Of course communication is key and when I first arrived I was told I would not be able to be taken in. This was frustrating but I explained that I just got off the phone with somebody and they said it was okay to come down. After a brief discussion they found who I spoke with on the phone and begin the process right away. Huge shout out to a guy named James that works there. He was extremely helpful friendly and made me feel welcome. If you're looking for somewhere to donate, you're able to follow directions, and listen to the professionals this is a great place to donate and help save lives. Not only that but the one thing that I would say they out do BioLife in is that they have an escalated scale on how you are compensated for your time and donation. A donor can realistically earn over $500 a month by donating when at BioLife I was only able to earn about three or four hundred. Come check it out and ask for James. The inital review I left was a bad day for all. Since then I have returned 8 times (2x week). Its a busy place especially with the holidays approaching. Staff are great and friendly; some you have to aproach and initiate conversation some are just naturally outgoing. Its life and we are all on one end or the other; no ones perfect. Any questions I have had about the process or screening have always been answered. Some days the wait times are longer than others, but thats the way it is. Disgruntled cusotmers will create disgruntled workers who are trying to help you. If you feel that someone is just plain out not helpful, theres a time and place to bring that up and speak to a manager. You should keep in mind that your there to save lives. Stay calm and donate (cause if your BP is too high you wont be able to! LOL) read more

Have been donating plasma for a couple of months at TPR Lakewood location and have been really impressed! Yes, it takes awhile, however this is for our safety and all of the staff is great!. My two favorite people there are Dillon and Victoria Gray, TC. Dillon was the staff member that professionally took me through the whole process on my first visit. He's very friendly and knowledgeable, answers all of my questions/concerns. Victoria runs a type ship and is over the team once you're ready to donate. I can tell she's trained her staff extensively which puts me at ease throughout the whole process. I was treated with the utmost respect from the front desk thru the whole process, The nurse that completed my physical was Jeremy, what a sweetheart, he answered all my questions no matter how simple or complicated.
