Their sorbettos taste amazing, but it's not worth hurting yourself trying to open the jar. Running under hot water doesn't even help, you have to saw away at the lids, and by the time you do it's completely melted. It's ridiculous that they haven't fixed this problem. After just returning from Italy and enjoying gelato like it is meant to be I decided to try Talenti for the first time. What a mistake that was. The Belgium chocolate gelato was so sweet it was disgusting (38g of added sugar into a small serving) . I also tried the Alfonso Mango sorbet and it was so bitter it was not edible. $12.00 for two jars of garbage. Never again. They have definitely not figured out how to get close to real gelato. :( read more

I cannot believe that no one has noticed Talenti Gelato recently removed the plastic seal around the top of each lid. Of all the times to do this? Really? In the middle of a Pandemic? Have you folks lost your minds?? Even in non-Pandemic times this is unsanitary and completely unacceptable! Now any psycho can walk into a supermarket, easily unscrew as many quarts as they like and drop whatever they want inside and YOU the buyer will know nothing about it! I called Talenti about this and their response was they removed the seal to help preserve our Ecosystem. Ok fine and lovely and I'm all for that. Then replace it with something else, wtf? I love Talenti Gelato and have found many of their flavors to be a refreshing change from Ben & Jerry's and Häagen-Dazs (still a plastic seal on those). Seems like this is for the establishment, and not the brand, but... The packaging. Seriously, what the heck? It might be "distinctive," but so is opening every door you encounter with a blow torch. Distinctive != desirable. Second, the product. Flavor-wise, pretty solid. Texture? A lot can be learned from how heavy their pints feel in hand - a little light. Similar to a lot of other packaged ice cream / gelato, there's lots of air mixed in, that then leads to the formation of ice crystals which ruins the creamy texture. I had a container of Hagen Dazs vanilla bean and a container of Talenti MadGAcan vanilla bean in my freezer and tried tasting them side by side to compare. The Talenti has no flavor compared to the Hagen Dazs. The texture of the Hagen Dazs was also much more creamy, especially as they both melted a bit. Would not buy this product again. So glad to see the bad reviews of un-talenti. Everytime i try one of their flavors (with years in between) i write them off again. Today cheaper than b&j and hag daaz so tried cc cokie dough which should be a no fail, but of course it was. It's un-talenti. No chunks of cookie dough!!! Maybe 4 tiny "chunks" smaller than a mini m&m. I looked up who owns them online & it's Unilever, a huge company that sells "food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products". They own 8 brands of ice cream, inc klondike, breyers, ben & jerrys. The talent container is a GREAT idea but that all it is. A marketing scam. All looks and no substance. So just as an update. At this point my girl and I have enjoyed at least 5 other Talenti flavors and each one has been excellent. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic they enlist to make the flavors so rich and creamy, but it is working and I highly recommend you buy a pint (some flavors are available in quarts too)! I would never buy this ice cream again. It's way too soft and it's probably from all the sugar that's in it. It's literally melting while in the freezer. I understand that they want to use as little ingredients as possible, but there is just way too much sugar for me to enjoy. Not to mention it's also pricey as hell. I have tried 2 flavors; Southern Butter Pecan and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The butter pecan was divine. Rich flavor, plenty of pecans. The cookie dough was a huge disappointment. There were maybe 3-4 pieces of cookie dough in it. I won't be buying that flavor again. I do have to agree with the review that said the ice cream melts in the freezer. Unable to unscrew the lid after numerous tries and even melting the ice cream. I could have cut the plastic case with a knife but afraid that I might eat plastic so ended up throwing the whole full container away. I am sticking with Ben and Jerry's or others in which I never had a problem opening the lid. As someone who often makes ice cream and gelato at home, I used to love Talenti. Talenti ice cream used to be fantastic when they were independently owned. I used to love their Sea Salt Caramel and their Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors. I used to recommend them to all my friends and family. A few years ago, I noticed that their Sea Salt Caramel had a metallic taste and way fewer caramel chunks. Upon some research, I learned that Talenti had been sold to Unilever -- the multi national conglomerate that only cares about profits. Their ice cream went from amazing, to bad, to worse. Since they sold off to Unilever, the list of ingredients have been increasing. It used to be only a few ingredients, such as milk, sugar, cream and eggs. Since then, undesirable ingredients such as Dextrose, Carob Gum, Corn Syrup, etc, have entered the list of ingredients in their "gelato". The difference can be easily tasted: their ice cream currently tastes metallic, too light for a true gelato, and with a horrible chemical after taste. I cannot recommend Talenti ice cream to anyone anymore. Especially for the premium price they ask. Talenti ice cream tastes cheap with a hint of chemicals. Unfortunately, Talenti is not even close to a premium ice cream, let alone gelato. read more

I have been a long time fan of the Mediterranean Mint flavor and occasionally have went out of my way to purchase the flavor. Unfortunately, the kid is absolutely impossible to remove.
