The tacos were just okay and same thing with guac and tortilla chips. I do see who their demographic is since it's centered where thee are nightclubs and other type of clubs on the same strip of street. The point of sale tablet gui is terrible and it made going through the selections longer than expected. Also the service was non existent we were waiting for our number to called since we had it for dine in and instead we waited for some time before heading to counter and seeing that our food was in a takeaway bag. This is a skip for me and If I were the target demographic for the weekend club crowd, I'd go to 7th street burger instead.
Came here with my brother for dinner - we both have never been. We ordered the chicken tomato basil ramen and Birria Mac and cheese, and a mangonada to try. Something special about their mangonada has lemonade added to it and much more tajin than chamoy. The ramen was eh - a 5/10. This is for those that really like tomatoes or want soup. It was too much for me after a couple of bites. One thing to note is that if you hate onions, let them know! Or else they will throw a heap of them on the bowl. Outside of the meal, I really enjoyed it and I would return to try another food option!
Happy I could stop by I got the birria burito and the beef and all other items were well seasoned and tasted great. The beef was tender and flavorful. The other fillings had good seasoning as well. One thing Id improve is giving some coseme along with the burrito.
The birria tacos are not the best in the city. Maybe at a different location but these were just "good". The meat didn't really have any flavor but the tortillas were DELICIOUS! My blue lemonade was ok. Melissa at this location was very sweet and did great to make sure we were good though! This location is also VERY small so people will be waiting for you to get up and leave if it's crowded lol. So nicely decorated though!
Had a group of us go in and it was limited on space and seatings, but we were lucky enough to find 5 spots at a shared table that sat approximately 10 people. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant with colors and music. Since I am from a different region of the country, I found the flavors of this place to be more sweet than I would like down to some tacos and even the hot sauces. Overall, the food was presented well, looked appealing, but it had an overall flavor that I wasn't crazy about. I know there are plenty of different kinds of queso out there, but this one just didn't do it for me. I will say that they have some bomb churros which were cooked to perfection. Everything else was either a little sweet or really on the mild side. I tried the jalapeño hot sauce, cayenne hot sauce, and habanero hot sauce. I honestly could not tell a difference in heat level. Attached are some pictures. The food was good, just not my style.

Great food. Ordered the birria grilled cheese with shrimp. Came out good. Service was great. Food came out quickly. Clean environment. I like this place.
Went for Cinco de Mayo, when we first arrived it wasn't too busy, but a line quickly started forming. We waited about 10 minutes to order, then nearly 50 minutes for our food with nowhere to sit. We even got a text saying it was ready just 10 minutes after ordering, but when we went back in, it wasn't actually ready. It was extremely crowded, and we couldn't find seating, so we ended up having to take the food to go. By the time we ate, it was a bit cold. The biscoff churros were great, the bang bang shrimp tacos were delicious! The birria rice bowl was good but I think it would've been better fresh, it was a little soggy by the time we ate it. However, the employees were clearly overwhelmed but still remained sweet and helpful throughout.
What an interesting experience... Our first time visiting here was for Cinco de Mayo ! We heard that the food was good so we were excited to try. When we arrived, the line was so long we weren't sure if we would be able to stay. Long story short we were able to sit. Service was rather slow, but we were waiting patiently because it was so crowded and the servers were super kind. I think the attentiveness and kindness of the employees made the experience much better. The food.. was just okay. The tortillas were tough, the street corn was rather bland, and the horchata had a super sweet milky taste. However, the guac was phenomenal. All in all, kind of underwhelming, but I wonder if that was just due to the busyness of the holiday. I can't say that I will be back.
I was so excited to come try the Birria Mac n cheese. As a reviewer I would say Mac n cheese is my speciality! I love it! But unfortunately this Mac n cheese was not it at all. I would not order it again. The birria was good, the takis were a little Over powering so I'm glad they added a small amount. But the noodles and cheese itself. Just not good the most bland thing I've had. Like seriously I think Kraft Mac n cheese would have had more flavor. It was also super watery... and I usually love my mac n cheese creamy but this wasn't creamy. I'm not sure the cheese they used but it was not it.... I also asked for a side of hot sauce on the Kiosk and it was not brought to me. So I can't rate how that was. The horchata was good though. But there weren't that many people and the churros took forever to come out. They were the best thing I had there though lol. I left hungry... time to try the next spot in DC. Final thoughts: I think all food should come out at once... With so many spots to try in this spot I'll skip it for a retry. Even the birria was okay but not best birria I've ever had... not even top 10... maybe an off day? The vibe inside was beautiful though! I dig the video showing the process of making the food.
Stopped by because of all the wonderful reviews and they did not disappoint. The spot was vibey and cool - definitely great for a late night meal. When you walk in they have two screens where you can order your food. Once you order you grab a number and find a seat and they'll let you know when your food is ready. Now the main event - the tacos. They are really good! Very flavorful with good portions. They have plenty of options to choose from and I will definitely be back for more.
I stopped at this location for lunch and was directed to order at the kiosk. Only one of the two was working and I ended up waiting behind a guy who took forever to place his order. An employee came over to hand menus to those of us waiting. When I asked about the broken machine, he did something to get it back up and running. I placed my order on the kiosk after the delay and got a text on my phone telling me my order would be ready in 15 minutes. My order was ready right on time! I ordered a blue lemonade and three tacos: 1. Bang Bang Shrimp: Breaded shrimp with pickled onions in a crispy corn taco. Delicious! 2. Caribbean Carne: A generous serving of beef and plantain. Yum! 3. Southwest Chicken: Chicken, corn, beans, and romaine lettuce. Nice combo, but the chicken was salty! The place was nearly empty when I arrived and gradually filled up. I appreciated the complimentary refill on my lemonade. Tip: Order online to avoid the wait at the kiosk!
Nice vibe, tasty tacos, service with a smile! What more could you ask for? I recently ordered a trio consisting of one mahi mahi fish taco, one bang bang shrimp taco, and one chicken achiote taco. All were delicious and satisfying! I'm a fan and will return on my next trip to DC.
Hubs loves this place for their loaded fries. I think they are good but nothing special. We got the elote bowl without takis (it was ok), and two trio taco combos. We tried the south western chicken taco (ok), birri tacos (meh), carne asada taco (better), bang bang shrimp taco (a little more better) and mahi mahi tacos (the best of the lot). I like the vibe of the place and ppl working there are really nice and the service is quick. So plus points for that but the food was a bit lacking except the loaded fries and fish tacos. If you're grabbing lunch at Talkin' Tacos, do yourself a favor and hope Melissa is working! Melissa made the entire experience incredible from the moment we walked in. She was welcoming, attentive, and brought such great energy to the space. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about making sure every customer has a great experience, but Melissa absolutely does. She was patient with questions, offered great recommendations, and made sure everything came out perfectly. On top of the amazing food, her service truly made our lunch stand out. Friendly, professional, and just an all-around joy to interact with. Talkin' Tacos is lucky to have her! If you stop by for lunch, look for Melissa--you won't regret it! read more

I have to give the food a 10/10! There isn't any parking at all and I actually ended up getting a ticket but it was worth it lol the wait was about 30 minutes because it was pretty busy and there is space to sit down in there, plus it's really cute! It was clean inside as well and they have a lot of drink selections. They also have some great sauce options as well. I will be going back to try something else another time but maybe I'll get dropped off next time so I won't have to worry about parking at all. Overall, everything was great! I would absolutely eat there again. read more
This place is all around awesome. Had the stomach growl after a long day this was one of a couple restaurants open close to my hotel. Walked in, and noticed all the brightly colored artwork on the walls. Orders are placed at the kiosk. It didn't talk long, I was tasting tacos. Semi packed on a Thursday night, food was ready in 10 minutes. The chicken achiote, bang bang shrimp and bean taco are amazing but the birria tacos are amazing. read more
As soon as you walk in, there's music playing in disco life. There's two kiosk to order food, which you don't get a receipt. They will call you by your name. It's self seating so if you go during dinner like we did, it was very, very busy and not a lot of seating spaces available. You can also order with the cashier. The Carne Asada tacos were good. I was not a fan of the tortillas. They were kind of hard now my husband ordered the Beria tacos. They were OK as well. We feel that the Beria soup could have had more flavor. The guacamole was delicious with the chips, crispy enough. The Horchata was a little different from what I'm used to. I'll give it an 8 out of 10. The guava jarrito drink always good. The servers are very attentive and helped us find a table for two. He did mention that the Horchata was free refills. I would like to come back and try other items on the menu. read more

The positives I have of this place is their service was attentive and very nice. Their loaded fries were pretty good as well - fries were very crispy, all the loaded toppings were plentiful but not overwhelming. Their main concern I had was the birria Mac and cheese or birria ramen - not sure what the restaurant calls it. I may have misunderstood this as a purely Mexican spot but this felt very American trying to be a Mexican establishment. Something about the birria meat and the Mac and cheese combination was not blending well, and it made me go to the bathroom for about 30 minutes after. I took the Mac and cheese to go and had it later in the day in hopes that the upset stomach was a false alarm but I had to go to the bathroom once again. read more

I was visiting from Richmond, Va and stopped to try the birria tacos. You order from a kiosk and staff was available to any questions especially Jimmy! The birria tacos were really good and I loved how they cooked the shell as it had such a nice crispiness. I will say the consomé was good but not as flavorful as I expected. I tried the mangonada which is one of their specialty drinks but I wasn't a fan and without asking the staff removed it from my ticket (I thought that was very nice). Walking in downtown D.C. around dinner time, the flashing neon lights drew me into Talkin Tacos, even though it's a non-local chain. Once inside, order from a tablet for takeout or for here. My shrimp burrito and blue lemonade took about ten minutes for takeout. The burrito was filling. Nothing phenomenal, but it was tasty, especially with the spicy sauce. I stopped by Talking Tacos in NW DC on Taco Tuesday and had such a great experience. From the minute you walk in and see the beautiful, neon decor and accents everywhere catches your eye. One thing that stood out was the touchscreen ordering system. It was different but cool, and made the ordering process quick and easy. I started with a Guava Jarritos soda, super refreshing and perfect with the meal. I also tried the Sunrise Punch, which had a nice balance of flavor and sweetness to kick things off. For my entrée, I got the California Burrito with shrimp. I ordered it without the Takis and salsa, and next time I'll skip the rice too since it made it super filling. From presentation to taste, this was higher than expected but for sure a wish I been here sooner feeling. But overall, it was still flavorful and packed with ingredients. This definitely can eaten by 2 people. This also came with nachos which were crispy, lightly salted and perfect to add on the side. The hot sauces on the table were actually SO good -- definitely added the right kick without being too overpowering. The service alone deserves 5 stars, Jimmy took care of me from beginning to end. He was attentive, friendly, funny, helpful and made sure I understood the menu and helped made sure I was happy especially it being my first time. His service was TOP TIER & I look forward to seeing him the next time I come by. Overall, delicious food, great vibes, & amazing service from Jimmy. My friend posted a picture of his meal here and I had to check it out. When I walked in one of the employees helped me navigate their ordering system and recommended a few things. I got the birria grilled cheese and took it to go. The restaurant looked clean and pretty busy for that time of day on a Saturday. I got home and devoured the grilled cheese. The side of tomato soup to dip the grilled cheese in was the icing on the cake. I would order this over and over again. read more

This restaurant is SO CUTE! The decor is unmatched, I love it! It was very Dia de Los Muertos and I'm all about that! When we walked in there were two stations where you could order electronically, so we did that, as there didn't appear to be anyone at the register to take orders at the moment. I didn't love the electronic ordering bc I couldn't compare multiple items at the same time like I could do on a physical menu. We decided on birria tacos, al pastor tacos, bottled water and horchata. My friend had never had horchata before, which i thought was wild, but i digress. The establishment is small, but luckily a table just left. We went to claim the table as our own and almost immediately an employee was there to wipe down the remainder of the last patrons, thankfully! The birria tacos and out very quickly, which I'm assuming is because the meat is slow cooked and they just have to put em on the grill and melt the cheese. My friend said they were amazing and tried to give me her last one! At that point i was like wait, I ordered food, too! And we ordered and paid on one ticket. My friend went up to the counter to ask about my food and they were like what? The food never came out? I didn't realize there was more. They apologized and got the tacos out as quickly as one could! I will say, I was saddened they didn't have pork for the al pastor tacos, as I do not consume a lot of beef, but the steak al pastor was phenomenal! There was pineapple annnnnd pickled onions-- I've never had pickled onions on my al pastor tacos before, but it will become a request going forward. After we were done eating, we asked for boxes and I decided I needed a horchata for myself, to go. There was a gentleman with braids sitting on a stool at the register and I stood at the counter for a couple minutes without him acknowledging me or anything when a young lady came over and asked if I needed anything. I told her yes, I just wanted to order a horchata, and she told the fellow sitting down to take my order. I asked which was better, the regular horchata or the pumpkin spice and he said the classic, so that is what I ordered! I hovered by the counter where the orders are placed when they're ready for about 7-10 minutes, when I was finally like okay can some please tell me how long it takes for horchata? If it just happens to take a long time, that's fine, I can go sit back down. The guy that took my order was like omg you're still waiting on your horchata?? And immediately got up and poured it from a pitcher that was right there at the counter... so both of my orders were forgotten about, entirely, unfortunately. I will say, even though nothing i ordered was prioritized or ready in a reasonable amount of time, I would still go back. The employees were all very nice, I really liked the vibe of the place, and everything was delicious! Like, soooo good! I did take off the one star because.... like where's my food, now where's my drink?? But I do highly recommend! read more

This place was one of my #1 restaurants to try while I'm here in DC for the first time and honestly was soooo delicious! Order your food, sit & they give it to you. Mark & Malachi helped my group & they were honestly so sweet & amazing. Checked in with us & asked us if we needed anything. I appreciate that you can order the sampler tacos so you can taste many dishes. My fav had to be the birria but they were all so good. The street corn was so delicious! Horchata was thiccccc. Guac was yummy. Loud music but the vibes are viiiibing. Honestly had the best time. Great service and great food, I will definitely come again! Thank you Mark & Malachi! read more

I visited Talkin Tacos on a Wednesday evening. I was attending a company function at the new Onyx nightclub across the street. I wanted to step in and try as I love tacos. The establishment was pretty busy. This was around midnight. It has a decent size dining space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The line was long but moved pretty swiftly. You order your food from the digital tablets stationed near the entrance. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The wait was pretty quick. They were made to order an extremely delicious. I'm more of a flour tortilla person, but the corn was OK. I definitely will be back. read more

TALKIN TACOS got it! They rave that they are the best tacos on the East coast and I think that might be right. At least for the DC area these are the best tacos I've ever had. They are located right in the downtown area making parking a little bit tricky but definitely worth it. We tried their, + Mango lemonade (10/10 delicious) + Bang Bang Shrimp tacos (10/10, whatever sauce they put on this is so good) + Mahi mahi tacos (8/10) + Chips and pico (4/10) Their menu is one of a kind as they have a large variety of unique taco and burrito options including caribbean carne tacos that have plantains on them. I'm definitely giving that a try the next time I go. And there's even birria pizza, loaded fries and nachos. The pricing is standard for a taco shop in DC, $16 for 3 tacos. The tacos are corn tortillas and slightly bigger than a normal street taco size. The team was very kind and got our order out quickly. There's a lot going on inside of the restaurant with colors and lighting so I think I will almost always order to go. It's a very simple process online and doesn't take very long. Can't wait to eat here again and highly recommend if you've been looking for great tacos in DC. read more

Great taco place that was open for late night bites. The food was delicious and they have a wide variety of drinks as well. We ordered the nachos, birria tacos, mahi tacos, and churros. My favorite was the mahi tacos and churros. The birria was good, but I've had better at other taco places. I really enjoyed the horchata and mangonada as well. read more

Still flawless! I came back again to my new favorite DC taco spot. I was curious if the food quality, taste and service would be the same; and honestly it was! The staff were so nice, the restaurant still looks so vibrant and fun, and the food was still top tier. I got my favorite flavor taco trio - the Caribbean Carne Tacos, and they were as tasty as ever! Super yummy tacos! I've had them twice and have been great both times. They are well sauced with a good amount of toppings to balance out the whole taco. The horchata was a bit on the sweeter side but still yummy. For dessert, I tried churros which comes with caramel sauce and condensed milk - def recommend eating these hot. I got the Caribbean tacos which are a nice balance of sweet and savory! The fish and shrimp tacos were also yummy. The guac was nothing to rave about but still pretty solid. I would def come back to try other items on the menu. read more

This is a great spot to get quick halal friendly tacos! My friend had the carne asada and loved it! I personally got the following: Bang-Bang Shrimp taco 10/10 Fish taco 8/10 And shared Churros ( we did not get the sauces and regretted it because it wasn't too sweet.... 8/10 So be sure to get them to make it a 10/10!) Great spot and even though it's a fast food style place we were checked on and recommended 10/10 service The ambiance was very much sit and chat with friends over great food! read more

Low lights and attentive staff. Soon as you enter they acknowledge and ensure you understand the menu and kiosk. Almost don't want to share buuuut this place has bomb tacos! Best I've had in DMV area. The Caribbean taco with the sweetness of the plantains yes. Sprinkle that lime and hint of salt yummy . The southwest chicken taco was so darn delicious. My family enjoyed the nachos with beef and chicken . I was stuck on the tacos. Next time I'll try the desserts. read more

This place has certainly earned those stars. I've gone for dinner and lunch and the service has been exceptional- they are actively working on providing the best possible service by helping people at order kiosks, walking around and refilling drinks (including their special lemonade flavors!), and being very pleasant and present. The blue strawberry lemonade is tart and sweet without being too syrupy. The plantains were crazy soft and moist. Very flavorful. I tried three different tacos- carne asada (bland), birria (super cheesy and savory), and bang bang shrimp (by far the best!). We also tried the trio dips and chips- LOVE the loaded queso and the guacamole was very fresh with good sized chunks. I ordered the dulche de leche churros and the flavor was pretty good, not as soft as I personally like them but they give you a bunch of it- definitely more than enough to share. At night they have tons of colorful light and music (the pictures I loaded are all from night). Very fun atmosphere, just incredibly small. This is not built for a big group. 2-4 max but it's definitely worth eating there. read more

This is honestly my new favorite taco spot and I don't even like tacos! I got the trio with Caribbean tacos, chicken and mahi mahi. They are all 10/10. I honestly Can't tell you which one of the three is my favorite because they were all so good. The Caribbean tacos had bits of plantains which added a nice sweet kick. My brother got the burrito and that was great as well. The rice was flavorful and the beans were so well done just like the steak. Guac was good and the pico was just okay. It is a smaller restaurant but love the decor and they play a lot of reggaeton. Service was incredible. The host was attentive and helped us order at the kiosk and gave us great recommendations. They brought our food directly to the table and were super attentive and provided free refills for the lemonade. read more
Loved coming here after going to see the cherry blossoms. Quick walk from the metro and it was easy to order via their kiosk. Tacos came out quickly and were delicious. The shrimp taco was a great ombination of flavors, including the sauce. Only complaint is that the hot sauces on the table werent that good. Not enough flavor or kick. With better hot sauce, the tacos would have been 95/100 I'll be back sometime to try their other menu items! read more
