Tried Tall Boy for the first time. Not the best experience. To start, it was very cold I had to put my coat back on. The Mango margarita I order was mango juice there was no alcohol, at the I watched it sit at the bar for almost ten minutes before Our waiter went back to get it. The beer queso dip that he suggested was extremely salty! I mean I thought I was chewing salt beer and cheese literally. My boyfriend agreed, at first he thought It was just his taste buds until I said something. Then my food comes out before my boyfriends we waited more than 10mins before our server came back and noticed there was food missing. When he finally did bring the side, papas brava I think it's called, it was burnt to a crisp. Mind you we still didn't have his entree. Hopefully it was just something about tonight but It was a really disappointing experience. He enjoyed his Victoria beer though. And the atmosphere is nice, the waiter was gracious. read more

Really nice selection of tacos, each one for about $4. The stand-outs for us were the brisket, the shrimp, and the battered fish. Lots of flavor going on there. Margaritas were nice; the only downside food-wise was the guacamole. It was good, not great, and their idea of 'spicy' is adding some chopped jalapeños on top. Horrible service! Waited for 20 minutes and no one helped me and my friend out. The only time we got asked if we wanted something to drink was by the bus boy and he was offering us water. As soon as a white couple sat down they got a server immediately. Do not recommend going there, especially if you are a person of color! read more

I was excited about the tacos here as it is located right by my office and the outdoor patio is great for lunch in the summer! Finally came for lunch. The food was average, my friend found a tiny chicken bone in her tacos. And all of my food came before my beer. I was unimpressed and would only come here if I had no where else to go for lunch sometime. read more

A pretty average taco spot. We went for lunch during the week and were surprised to find out that it was only counter service during the afternoon. Not a big deal, so we ordered and sat at a table. We got our drinks right away, but nobody ever came back to the table so it was a bit unclear if we were supposed to get refills or had to order more (iced tea + pop). The corn fundido was interesting; It tasted more like mayo than cheese and was different than what we expected but it was still good. The chips were freshly made, so that was a plus. The shrimp taco and crispy avocado taco were the best. The fish and carne asada were good, but nothing special. The carne asada only had a thimble of guacamole. The papas bravas were tasty but extremely rich and could have used a bit more seasoning. Cute place, nice atmosphere, and started to get busy as we were about to leave. I started this review VERY UPSET, as I called Monday to place a catering order for 19 people...to be delivered on Thursday.......Thursday is here, no tacos, so I call to ask if they are on their way. They say they have no record of my order!! Told them that I gave SOMEBODY at TallBoy my credit card, and exactly what I ordered.......so they offered...."we can get it ready now, for pickup"....BS...so I had to rush out for a different lunch option for my group. THEN, later the manager, Elise, called me and profusely apologized and said they did find my order and they would like to make it up to me, and re-deliver our order "on them" - GREAT customer service follow-up....I will update my review next week after I have tasted the tacos! read more

Very disappointing. We threw most of the food away. The shrimp tacos tasted rancid. The other tacos the tortillas were too wet and falling apart. The carinitas tacos smelled wrong so me decided not to risk it. The corn fundido was tasty as were the accompanying chips. I wouldn't recommend. Taco Joint and Velvet Taco are far better. read more

I am a huge fan of Nacional 27 but I have to admit I do not get the chance to make it there as often as I would like. Now I have another great excuse to hit up this spot on the regular, with the opening of TallBoy Taco in the front bar. I have been here about 3 times since it first opened and it has been spectacular every time, with my most recent visit being a real stand out with it being National Guacamole Day. I talked this place up to family and was so happy when I had the opportunity to bring them last week. My brother in law is Latino and he and my sister frequent Latino establishments, so I am always nervous when I bring them to Latino places around the city which I enjoy. I had no reason to fear, the tacos at TBT are so reminiscent of the small hand tacos you find at street vendors throughout Mexico City and my brother in law recognized that right away. The flavors were all spot on and our flight of guacamole was spectacular with each variation tasting better than the last. Every time I eat at a Latino establishment I immediately judge the place based on the chips and salsa and TBT's salsa is dangerously addicting with light crispy, perfectly salted chips to act as the perfect delivery vessel. I think we ended up trying every taco on the menu between the 8 of us, with stand outs being the 12hr brisket, the fish taco, the chorizo, and the avocado taco. Washed this all down with a Tecate and a Tall Boy of Highlife and I was in heaven. We even had my two nieces with us and the great thing about kids is they are always honest, they could not stop mmmming over the cheese crisp which I do not want to forget to mention because we all loved this as well, young and old alike. Overall just a fantastic place and I will definitely be a regular here, switching off between N27 and here, as the atmosphere is perfect for stopping in by myself, hitting up with a work crew, or taking out family, it is very versatile. read more

I like the decor and bar area of Nacional 27- Went here for lunch and I am not a fan of the ordering at the bar and then sitting with a number at a restaurant - their prices are too high for that and should be serviced instead of having to get up each tim you want to oder and to get up to get your own water and sauces each time. If you like Chipotle, you'll love this place. If, however, authentic Mexican is your bag, you will not be pleased. Not only is the carnitas taco the only redeeming taco, but they have the audacity to serve rice and beans mixed together as some Frankenstein side for the bargain price of $3.50. Inedible food, shockingly overpriced. $11 for two meager "spicy veggie" tacos which contained no cheese, no beans, just a sad, tasteless vegetable slop. A small cup of overcooked rice with about 6 mealy black beans on the side (paid extra). Honestly we've been needing a fast delicious healthy mexican option in this neighborhood and it's finally here. Delicious salads and tacos. Healthy fresh ingredients, lightning fast service. I just ate here for the first time today and am already thinking of when I can make it back for a second. I tried the special salmon taco, which was recommended by the bartender, and it was amazing! I also ate the smoked brisket taco and the Al pastor and both were equally as delicious.
