Really great bar for a fun Thursday night or weekend night out. Mostly early 20s crowd when I went, which is great because it's my age group. Drink special for Thursday night was half off all drinks. I was surprised to see how cheap the mixed drinks really were. Pretty good music and overall a clean place gave way for a great Thursday night out. This was one on the worst experiences I've had in Hoboken. The bouncer who claimed it was "his bar" (which don't be fooled, he is NOT the owner) was completely rude to me and my group of friends. He treated us as if we were all incoherent children which was definitely NOT the case, especially on a Tuesday night. He was extremely irrational to the point where we voluntarily left the bar because we no longer felt they were worth our service. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this new establishment and can promise you that I will not ever be setting a foot in the door again. My advice: let the bouncer go. I came here with friends for a New Years celebration. Tally-Ho did a very wonderful job The up the party and serving their customers. The food was delicious and they never ran out of anything. The bartenders were very attentive and made sure everyone received exactly what they wanted. I highly recommend coming to Tally-ho for any event or celebration. The only complaint I have is about the one security guard who is short and chubby, Tommy. He refuses customers for no reason a d sometimes makes them pay him on the side to enter. Bar is ok but the selection of beer is very limited. No Stella really?? it also took forever to get a drink at the bar. The music is good at least. I would of given it three stars but my friend had joggers and they would not let him in even though this was perfectly acceptable at other places that were similar to this place. The kicker is that the bouncer said we could go in if he paid $20 which is very shady, he wound up paying because our friends were in there and when we got in we noticed a lot of people wearing hats and some people even had sweats so I guess the bouncer just wanted to make some extra money and no dress code exists for this place. This used to be Bahama Mama but I guess they changed name under new management. I definitely enjoy this place. Dewitt brings such great vibes. The bartenders seem happy and definitely having a good time behind the counter. I love the bartender Andy, he is some kinda sexy. I like the DJs they have; it's usually a great mix of hip hop, reggae and top 40. The bar is definitely more packed than what it used to be under Bahama Mama so they're definitely doing something right. read more

Tally-Ho. Previously known as Bahama Mamas. I used to frequent this place years ago (when it was under the previous name) and was a huge fan until Dino sold it and the corporate monster took over and destroyed it. I recently visited the new Tally-Ho just to see what it was all about. I have to say, it was like being back in the old Bahama Mamas, which was kind of refreshing. I went on a Thursday, relatively early, so there wasn't much of a crowd there. But I did enjoy the drinks and some games that they have set up. Beer pong is available, which is a nice addition. It's not completely like the Bahama Mamas of back in the day, but definitely a lot better than what it was prior to the name change. read more

Me and my friends went for my buddy's birthday and couldn't get in because my buddy was wearing khaki joggers. never heard of a bar not letting someone in with khaki pants on. the only thing that made them joggers was the elastic bottom, he was well dressed with a button down and everything. they let a group of girls in with sweats and raggedy dressed, but wouldn't let my buddy in, which was with a group of 6 people, they would let us all in who were considerably underdressed compared to him. 2 bars both rather large. Huge dance area in the middle, D.J. was pretty solid in the throwback hip hop 90's area, drinks were price about the same as any other bar in Hoboken. Crowd was pretty attractive, all and all not a bad spot. read more

Decent place. Nothing special. They keep the place pretty clean. Cheap drinks. Place isn't overly crowded. Not a bad spot for football games. They have a small food menu that comes from Planet Mac. I recommend the buffalo chicken mac n cheese. Overall a chill place if you aren't looking to spend too much and have a good time. read more

Fun no frills, danceing bar! Thursday nights are happy hour so all drinks are half off which is awesome. The DJs tend to be spot on with their music selection and it's less house music, more songs people actually want to sing and dance to. I went to Tally-Ho with a group of friends for a Friday night happy hour. We really enjoyed the music and the happy hour prices were unbeatable. However, I am giving a 3-star review because the $1 happy hour sliders were absolutely foul. Not only were they small and burnt, but I am not convinced they were made from real meat. I still feel slightly ill today. I know Planet Mac is responsible for this horrible "food item", but Tally-Ho should consider removing it from their menu. Place is trash, not only do the bouncers suck, and when i say they suck i mean they sssuuuuuccckkkkkk. They never let me in, even when i am dressed in slacks, nice shoes and a button up. I was there on Saturday night. The DJ was awesome - amazing mix of music! They def let the bar get too over crowded! You could barely move. And they were way under staffed when it came to bartenders - you had to wait incredibly long for a drink! Bartenders were so weeded that they messed up my order on 2 different occasions. What is the sense in letting that many people in if you can even make money off them buy being properly staffed?? The bouncer was very rude and disrespectful and does not know how to treat customers, singled me out for no real reason (his reason was because I had a Santa hat on which is ridiculous because it was Santa con and the people behind me all had Santa hats on and sweaters and he let them all in, he made me take it off and he was still being rude) although he let my friend and I in , we couldn't even enjoy it inside. Me and a couple friends tried to go here on friday night 3/27/18 and they wouldn't let my one friends in who was visiting from england. the bouncer, who he himself was foreign , said we dont accept foreign passports because "of everything thats going on in the world" when we asked him what that meant he just kept repeating himself with no real valid answer. not to mention we were all minorities. we also got rejected at a few other bars on the same block. they were very rude! i guess forgein people are not allowed to come here and try to spend money and have a good time. welcome to the new america. read more

Tally-Ho was one of my favorite bars on the Washington stretch in Hoboken, Unfortunately, my opinion took a 180 based off the service I received while watching a football game in January. I was with a party of 7 and we had been ordering pitchers and food for about an hour and a half. Our coats, bags and personal items were piled on the barstools by the table we were standing at. We were situated in the front area of the bar where there is more open space and the bar was not too crowded. The bus boy would come through every five minutes or so to clear away empty glasses and plates. Rather than saying "excuse me", he would shove his way through our group to get to the table. About the fourth time this occurred, he knocked over two full pitchers of beer on top of all of our belongings including my leather purse (which was wide open) and my goose down coat. As soon as this happened, we quickly grabbed our dripping and soaking wet belongings to move them from the table while the bus boy scurried off to the back of the bar. I immediately asked to speak to a manager, clearly irritated that the bus boy didn't even express any remorse or offer to get us towels or napkins to dry our things off. When the GM, DeWitt Maxwell, came to speak to me, he told me that the bus boy said another customer had bumped into our table causing the pitchers of beer to spill on our items. This clearly was not the case as we were the only people in the front of the bar and we saw him knock the pitchers over. When I tried to object to this, the manager raised his voice telling me to "calm down" and that he couldn't help me unless I lowered my voice. I was talking calmly and respectfully to the man and I took this as him trying to spin that I was drunk and out of control and to make this look like it was our fault. I said I would appreciate it if they could offer some kind of compensation as well as pay for my items to be cleaned. He said this was not a decision he could make but took my phone number and said somebody would be calling me to discuss offering no sympathy or apology. I never received a phone call and $78 later, I've paid for my coat, leather bag and leather wallet to be professionally cleaned. Needless to say, I won't be going back here anytime soon. read more

wish i could give this place 0 stars... had a very unpleasant experience last night... don't come here unless you're a alcoholic frat guy who can't handle their alcohol. they love those people here. i went last night with 2 girl friends for their birthday. we were casually drinking, nothing too crazy, dancing, minding our business, and having a great time. The whole time we were standing next to a security guard who was on his stand thing or whatever, bc there was a hook there for the girls purses and coats... anyways, it started to get packed, and these super wasted, stumbling, rude frat guys came in, and were moshing, to rap songs. they were pushing everyone around and not caring about their surroundings. this one guy pushed up against, and hit my friends drink out of her hands from being crazy, and didn't even apologize... i tapped him and asked him to please be careful because he kept pushing my friend. he's like 6foot and she's barely 5'1... he goes "fuck you".. and i just let it go.. after that, i spot in the corner of my eye, his friend PURPOSELY push him into us again at full force, so i push him back and told him to back up and be careful... the security guard we've been standing next to all night, seen me push him, and kicked us out. myself, and my 2 girls friends were trying to explain the situation and that i was just standing up for them because they started it, and his exact words were "i don't give a fuck, you're leaving.." and made us leave... so don't come here and try to stand up for yourself or your friends, security won't care and they'll just kick you out... read more

This place is haunted! My friend and I were waiting for the bathroom Saturday night, saw a girl go into the bathroom (its basically a water closet...no where to go). Been here a few times, added tons of tvs, decent for football, there was a good crowd. Very dark inside, so on a nice day not the best place to go. I was honestly most disturbed about the bartender in the back. While most may find this review hilarious, I can assure you the experience was not. While she was very nice, her boobs were falling out, she was jumping all over the place, etc. I understand she's trying to get bigger tips, but there was little left to the imagination and the jumping up and down cheering was over the top. Patrons were snickering and making comments, and at the time I was there, there were plenty of available seats at the bar as no one wanted to take the risk of getting their eye poked out. no wonder we got seats! read more

The bouncer tried to take the ID of one of my friends- even though she's over 21 and the ID was real- and threatened to call the cops. A bunch of us went here after work, and they broke my friend's ID who is 24 almost 25, just because it was a South Carolina ID. She just moved here 2 weeks ago, and as she was searching for another form of ID the bouncer, out of her eyesight by the way, and BENT IT IN HALF! After she found a picture of her passport on her phone, the manager came out and said "Sorry, we just had to make sure it wasn't fake." As far as dive bars go its great. Our usual bartender is Alex, a pretty blonde girl. She actually knows how to make cocktails and her Sangria is awesome! She is half of the reason why we go. The food is ok and you have to pay for it separate which is kind of annoying. But there drinks are pretty cheap for what your getting. read more

Worst experience ever. Rudest manager we have ever encountered. He said he owned the bar.... But we know he doesn't, so he is just giving the actually owners a bad name. This is the third rude encounter I've had with this manager so I've finally decided to write about it. He has the temper of a 13 year old girl and has no idea how to run a bar or how to make a bar successful. Although somehow he's had a job here for a couple years... Must know someone. The first time was at Black Bear where he was completely discriminatory toward my Irish friend. He was rude about her passport and refused her service. When we questioned him, his bipolar personality kicked in and he told the bartender to refuse our entire group service. This time, we brought 15 people into an empty bar on a Tuesday night. He was there playing darts and drinking with a girl so he didn't have any issues at the start. My friend accidentally opened the back door and he came over to reprimand us and asked us to leave. We were the only people in the bar and he asked us to leave. We were the only customers the bartender had and because of the managers poor people skills, he cost the bar money and unfortunately lost a tip for one of his bartenders. He has no social skills, is arrogant, and has no clue how to manage a bar. If mills, black bear and tally ho want anyone to continue to return, they better hope that their customers don't encounter this manager. read more

honestly i don't expect much from any bar or pub in jersey especially in the hoboken area. but this bar took the cake with the bitchiest rudest bartender ever. she took it to the extreme. first off they don't do Long island iced teas there. so i asked for a jack and coke and i watched her make it. she pours the coke and splashes it with a very tiny amount of jack. i asked her if she could please put more jack. she looked at me i said it was barely even a shot (i was NOT rude about it what so ever) i even said please. she just said "you know what you can order your drink from someone else" and walked away. i came back to the bar 5 min later to order a drink from another bartender and she saw me and whispered to the bartender to basically warn her about me. fucking rude and i will never go back. read more
