I had my nails done next door and I was hungry afterwards. I had never stopped in this restaurant before and I absolutely love tamales. I walked in and was instantly greeted and I always like that. The menu is simple but covers a great many options. I opted for a smothered crispy chili relenos. I was shocked it only took them five minutes to make and bag my to go order. When I returned home and ate my dinner, I was pleasantly surprised. My dinner was fantastic. Spicy, crispy and well made. Much better then I was expecting from fast food type tamale place. Plus, the portion size was really two meals for me. I really enjoyed this place, staff and food. The parking was easy. Get the receipt and check it! I have been going here for their breakfast burritos for years. Food was always good. Went there for dinner tonight and ordered two items. The total seemed off and when I reviewed the receipt, it contained 5 items. He ok'd a refund for an egg roll we never ordered, but when I questioned him in the other charges he became very defensive. According to him, that's 'just the way it rings up '. All the charges were higher than the menu price. I wound up cancelling everything and getting a refund, but not before I also got a heavy dose of shitty attitude. Our neighbors have told us about this place since we first arrived in Colorado and wanted to know where local Mexican food was served. It has taken us a year. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito, I ordered 2 Chile Relleno's w/sauce. We sat and waited. The store gets a second star for cleanliness, and fast service. (Although I'd have rather waited for a higher quality of food) Our number was called my husband picked up our bag walked to our seat and we opened a bag full of sauce leaked all over the bag. We grabbed extra napkins, cleaned up the mess... and took our first bites. My husband took about three bites and said; ' I can't eat this...' I tried the rellenos, they were hard. No egg. Covered in so much sauce I could not taste the food. I lasted about four bites. $14 in the trash. But a good lesson learned. We will return to Federal and get what we are looking for. read more

I tried calling 14 times over an hour to place a pick up order and was unsuccessful. I started at 6:28 and called them until 7:30 and they hung up on me every time. Been here before. Stopped in for lunch 1/26 and ordered 2 enchiladas with rice and beans, green Chile smothered. Took it to go. If you take food to go in the bag, DONT MOVE OR TIP IT AT ALL. Chile spilled all over the inside of the bag. Sign of things to come. Ate half of the messy meal and stopped due to my lack of interest. Beans were hard, rice had been sitting out forever. I have been going to the Tamale Kitchen for sometime. The last two experiences have soured me on every going again. The cashier they have working on the weekends is rude, unprofessional and not able to understand basic math. in one experience, I asked for a bean burrito special instead of my normal order of a bean and potatoe burrito special. It was more expensive which made no sense to me since beans are cheaper than potatoes. When I questioned it, the cashier was rude and said I don't make the prices and was very disrespectful. My last experience ordering the bean and potatoe burrito that costs $5.26 was unbelievable. This same cashier told me the price and I gave him a $10.00 bill. Then I thought I didn't want all those ones in my wallet from the change, so I handed him an extra $1 bill so that he could just give me a $5.00 bill and the change. He refused and said he couldn't do it and made up some excuse because it is digital. I told him that it was the same amount of change, but that I wouldn't have to put 4 x $1.00 bills in my wallet. He couldn't seem to comprehend and he became angry and wanted to argue. I said, " What happened to good customer service and the customer is always right?" He then told me to move away in a very disrespectful tone. I asked for the manager and the manager was absolutely no help and refused to even listen to me and would not say one word. To that I was even more shocked. The cashier then falsely claimed that I cussed at him and I did not. I don't even cuss. Then the cashier told me to get the "fuck out of here." Smothered means the burrito is smothered in the chili. You can get the burrito without the tortilla if you're keto. The place is small, you can see exactly where it's being made. I only ever get their breakfast burritos, I see some reviews about their other items being poor quality. I haven't tried them so I wouldn't know and can't defend that. But I DO know their breakfast burritos and they are SO GOOD. I crave them often. I always get the egg potato bacon special (with green chili inside) and it's keeps you full for a long time and isn't too heavy. Probably my favorite breakfast. I prefer this location since it's closer but also because they are better quality than the Kipling location. Don't let the reviews turn you away from their breakfast burritos. :) read more

The WORST Tamale Kitchen I have been to and one of the worst service experiences I have ever seen. How they stay open is a mystery. The gal taking my order carried on a joking conversation with her coworker when I was standing at the register and barely acknowledged that I was even there. There was about 6 employees in the front all standing around in the food prep area just talking and joking about, but apparently working is not what anyone is paid to do. Also, didn't help that cleanliness didn't look to be a high priority for the staff themself or the facility.
