So far, I've had their chicken enchilada plate; pork and chicken tamales; and carne asada fries. Chicken enchilada plate: the rice and beans were especially good, like better than I would have expected. The chicken inside the enchiladas was ground chicken which I didn't love. The overall flavor was good but the chicken itself was meh. Carne asada fries: so these were different than I'm used to. I'm used to it always having sour cream, cheese, and guacamole on top. They only do a queso and meat on the fries. It's spicy cheese, and it's very tasty. I liked these and would order them again. Tamales: On point. To be honest, that's what I'm most likely to order again. They're delicious and perfect consistency. I also had a side of chips and guacamole and both are delicious. Do not get the chicken burrito, tortilla was hard and hard to cut through and the stuff they called chicken, was dried up pebbles of something didn't taste like chicken. No flavoring couldn't tell what it was. My buddy got the beef burrito, the beef tasted OK but again the tortilla was hard and dry and hard to cut through, pass on this one. read more

I have been a customer for over 10 years. I have loved this place for that long. In the food service industry, there is good and bad days and this is normal. I can honestly say I have had 9.5/10 times of the hundreds of times I've probably eaten here experienced good service and good food. I've had it delivered on door dash and picked it up and we've eaten there it's always been consistent and good. Tamales are amazing, green chili amazing, but my favorite dish is breakfast burrito special with cheese and sauce on inside. My son and daughter love the tacos! I love this place. Staff isn't overly friendly but they are curtious. I've been coming here for years. it's just what I expect and I honestly appreciate that. I don't mind small talk but I'm also a "let's get down to business" kind of person so I'm not really looking for a deep and meaningful connection. There's one girl that used to work the counter (don't know if she's still there) who we would talk about nails because she always had cute nails but really, this is the perfect spot for a quick in-and-out trip to get a breakfast burrito on the go. Some versions of my usual (egg and potato special with queso) are better than others but the size of the burritos are more than satisfactory for the price imo. Most of the staff I've seen have worked there for years and that says a lot to me. Not to mention, they're always busy and they're right down the street from home. Now they just need to add the Chimichanga option for burritos like the Sloan's Lake location (by my salon studio) and the Sloan's Lake location needs to add Queso to the menu. read more

So I went in to get a chicken burrito today. The girl at the counter seemed like she would rather get stabbed in the eye than be working. She wasn't rude, but on the border of it. I got the chicken burrito plain, and let me tell you it's the plainest most disgusting chicken burrito I have ever had in my life. It was basically sawdust wrapped in a tortilla. They put nothing but dry ass plain no flavor chicken on it. I assumed that they would at least put the staple cilantro and onions on it. Now, I ordered plain because they put chili inside and/or on top of the burrito, and I assumed a plain would be just a normal fucking burrito like every other Mexican joint on earth, with onions and cilantro. Literally do not know what's not to like. If you're coming here for a cute atmosphere, date night, or for exceptional service, look elsewhere. If you are coming here for great tamales, tacos, etc, you've come to the right place. The prices are fair, the beans are the best ever, and the breakfast burritos are to die for. My go to is an egg, potato, bean burrito special (chili inside rather than on top) without cheese and with pico. Their pico might be the best I have ever had and I could eat it on its own. I have never had a bad meal at any of the TK locations and I've been at least 100 times. Literally. In short, I would continue to be a repeat customer and would recommend it to others. read more

Yum! Coming from Englewood and having a Santiago's literally 3 minutes from the house we knew we'd need to find a comparable spot in our new neighborhood. We were in luck! Tamale Kitchen is very similar to Santiagos in price and taste. We had the huevos and they were very good. A little salty, but the green chili had flavor and spice like were used to. I'm looking forward to trying their burritos and queso as well. The service was prompt and the prices were cheap. Cozy and laid back. I photographed some menu items for an online food delivery service but did not have a chance to try any of the meals. Although the dining area is quite small, this place does things right from the meal portion sizes to the friendly customer service. I was truly impressed with the consistent demand of this restaurant. During the 30-40 minutes I was there there was one customer after the next (despite the bitterly cold weather and snow). The only reason this place is getting three stars is because their Mexican food is great, but if you appreciate service like I do, management needs to take a look at things. We ordered a pick up order online. I hadn't been to Tamale Kitchen in awhile, but to my knowledge their menu hadn't changed. Their menu online said the family pack was $39 and when we got their they charged us $57! They let us know the menu hadn't been updated online. I get that things like this can happen, but you should honor your price. At least meet me half way or something. The fact that you had your prices wrong isn't my fault. The worst part about it is the guy who was working didn't care at all. We asked for him to honor the price and he said it is what it is. Pretty crappy to have that experience especially when we frequent there. Again, the food there is great and at a great price, but customer service I'm not thrilled. read more

The "special" breakfast burritos are dry and over priced. The service is unwelcoming. The second time, we ordered them online and my boyfriend picked them up. (He agreed that the girl behind the counter is rude and off-putting.) I ordered extra green chili for $1 more. Still dry af ~ so I went to Las Delicias for their $4 fire authentic burrito. Went again had a chicken taco and a steak burrito special style. My husband had the ham, potato and cheese breakfast burrito special style. He loved his burrito so much that he ate the whole thing on the way home. Seriously the steak burrito was delicious. It was full of steak!! The sauce made it even more amazing! This is an order an the counter and eat in, take home type of place with mexicans cooking a fine brew of great chile. The chile reanos were crispy, full of cheese and pepper, yet the green veggie chili was flavorful, hot and among the best I have had in Denver. I am not a tamale fan, but Westside girl swore these were top rated and also enjoyed the kick green chile. This local place seems to have a real following, the food order takes about 5 minutes, no tipping is required and you will enjoy your take home dinner without cooking just for one night! read more

When they first opened, I ordered the bacon/potato/egg smothered breakfast burrito. They were unable to fulfill this order because it was the middle of the afternoon. I was furious, especially since I had always been able to order this burrito at the Sheridan/Mississippi branch. I vowed never to return to this location. I guess they received quite a few complaints because, not only do they now offer "my" breakfast burrito at any time of the day, but they even have a sign posted in the window about this "correction" to the menu. The recipe is the same as the Sheridan/Mississippi location so I am never disappointed. But the place is almost TOO sterile looking, so I always take my burrito home. read more

The breakfast burritos at this place were great. My partner and I have recently been on a quest to find the best vegetarian green chile in Denver and we have tried quite a few breakfast burritos. So far, this is one of our favorites. The green chile we had was perfectly spiced to have a great taste and not set my mouth on fire. The burritos were a great size and had plenty of fillers. The potatoes inside were especially good. We also tried some of the vegetarian tamales. They weren't anything special, but for $1 a piece that's totally fine. Calling it like it is......weak! Weak chile offering in the rellenos, especially during a bountiful harvest time. The least impressive wonton wrapper rellenos (which in itself is disappointing) I've sampled in Colorado. Weak tomato sauce with some green chile in it being served as their "green chile" smothering. Only impressive thing about the sauce was how un-green chile like it was! I'd skip this place unless you are stuck on foot in the burbs. We tried Tamale Kitchen on Kipling for the first time last night, after my kids were indecisive as to what they wanted at another fast food place nearby. The chili and salsa were spicy. The Mexican hamburger burrito was okay, although I did not like the seasoning on the patty. The egg and potato smothered burrito my wife had was pretty good. The prices were decent for fast Mexican style food. I have never been to the Original location, but would like to if their food is allegedly better. The food was fast. The cashiers were smiling at least. It looks like things have changed some since many Reviewers made negative comments on the staff. My sister swears by this place so, staying with her in Littleton and fiending for tacos, we gave them a whirl. We weren't disappointed, but I will have to try them again to get a better feel for their service. The food was very good. The steak and shredded beef in the tacos was well-seasoned, but there needed to be fixings (although in their defense the cashier had never heard of "street-style tacos."). My brother in law's burrito was great but seemed spicier than he expected haha I'm still on the fence about the service. The cashier, who I hear is either an owner or co-owner, was a bit laconic and in repose the look on his face seemed a bit pissed off at my existence. That said he accommodated our order changes and whatever else so he was effective, just ... a bit sinister? We aren't in that area often, but the food was good enough that we're willing to give them another shot, perhaps inserting some more requests into the order to get it just right.
