Tamale 2 Tamales, Beans, Rice Salsa Combo
    Maria R.

I'm glad that there is a place where you can get tamales year round. Comparing my family tamales with theirs, they are okay. Ours have a lot more meat and softer, theirs well; I got the two tamale combo and I could tell they were from two different batches. One tamale had plenty of meat and the other very little and I was hoping they were softer. Needs more manteca, lol. The tamazole was good and tasty, I broke up the tamale to soak up the juice of the pozole. The roasted red salsa was very tasty but wished it was more spicy. The star of the breakfast was the Chia cucumber lime drink, was so delicious and the horchata was really good too. I was disappointed that they open at 10am should be sooner. Tamales are eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The service was okay, the young girl at the cash register could be a bit nicer and with more enthusiasm, more cheerful. But the food was serviced quick - I liked that. The ambiance was okay it's a typical Mexican restaurant. Overall, it's okay not fantastic but would return for the aguas frescas for sure.

My husband asked to go to this place for Father's Day. So we took him and his dad... there was a total of 5 of us. It worked out fine for us but there was a lot of people there and the place is kind of small. I did see there was a door im wondering if it is another room with seating... anyway... I'm not much of a tamale eater so I was a little nervous. We ordered a chicken tamale, a jalapeño and cheese tamale and pork... They were soooo delicious and fresh! My favorite was the jalapeño and cheese but the others were super good too. The chile relleno plate was Amazing... I would have never thought there would be this restaurant in the area where we were just because it's not in a place where you would be looking for food. There was red salsa and green salsa... both fire! The staff was really busy but very attentive... Everything was sooo good and we will be back very soon to try a few other things on the menu.

4/16/25 Hot & New!! Must try! Getting lunch. Arrived and greeted by nice worker. Asked what dishes were most popular. Told the Tamazole and picked it. Also asked for extra hot sauce and given. Paid for it with a short wait and received! Nice restaurant. Clean and safe. Lots of seating and Spanish music playing! Lunchtime! It is Pazole with a chicken tamale. Wow! great Tamazole! Really tasty! Tender chicken and hot sauce spiced it up and made it even better! It came with a lot of tortilla chips! They were tasty too! Leftovers also! Good service & GREAT lunch! Highly recommended!

So yes they hooked me from instagram. I saw their ad for the tamazole and that looked amazing so I followed. Then they posted something about a pizza tamal and that looked intriguing! So I knew I had to get there and I think it was New Year's Day and they were one of the few places open. I drove downtown and found them. They have a big lot in the back and at this time it was pretty empty. I noticed their outside eating area and snapped a quick pic. I hear they are re-doing it right now so consider this the before picture. I went in and the amazingly intoxicating aroma slapped my face. I drifted to the counter to place my order. The friendly face who greeted me took my order. I ordered a dozen tamales for $27-$30. I had to wait about 5 mins for them to wrap it all up. Within 10 mins I had my order and was on the way back to my car. I was so happy! As soon as I got home we ate every last tamal. They were so good! The masa to filling ratio was on point. The cheese tamal is gooey and salty. Very satisfying. Will I be back?! Yes! That's for sure!

In all honesty, I saw this restaurant come across my tik tok app and I was intrigued by the tamale pozole. I had to take a drive to get there because I don't live in Fresno. But I'm a foodie and felt it was worth the drive to check it out. Besides, who can turns down tamales?! The inside is small and the menu is very simple. They serve 3 different types of tamales; pork, chicken and green chile and cheese. We ordered the tamazole, and the wet tamale combo which is your choice of 2 tamales with green sauce poured over the top, rice and beans. Of course, my meal wasn't complete without a cucumber chia agua fresca. The Agua Fresca was refreshing and yummy! The tamazole was very good. They place a tamale of your choice (I chose pork) in the bottom of the bowl, and pour the broth with hominy over the top of the tamale. The broth looked lighter in color so I was nervous that the flavor would be bland but not at all. It was delightful! The wet tamale combo was mediocre but I would definitely be back for the tamazole. A delightful bonus was what we assumed to be the owner came over to talk to us and we had a great conversation!

First time trying this place and it has some really good tamales here. Stopped by on Saturday at 12:30 for lunch and this place was PACKED. Not only was it packed, the line was to the door consistently. If that's not a good sign for good food, then I don't know what is lol. The menu is very limited but it's a good one. They offer some pretty unique Mexican dishes like the Tamazole and Ruben burrito, however I'm personally thankful for that. Due to the uniqueness, I actually ordered both those dishes. The Tamazole was good, would rate that dish a 7.5 out of 10. The Ruben burrito was a 10/10. Such good flavor, can't reccomend this burrito enough. Also tried the green chicken tamale and it was so good! The tamales here are so moist and well sized. Overall very pleased with my lunch today. Very good authentic Mexican food at good prices. Defenitly don't sleep on trying this place at. Support this local Fresno buisness. Thanks Tamale Mama.

ok finally tried this place based on the tv hype and all the reviews, actually my second time trying due to being so busy. i tried a bowl of posole and it was ok, not the best and not the worst, it was a simple bowl of posole that to me needs more flavor in the juice. also tried the chicken tamales and they were more chicken and masa with no sauce so they seemed really dry.

I don't think I've ever felt betrayed by Yelp reviews...until now…read more During a recent road trip we stopped here to picked up some lunch/dinner because tacos are quick and easy and their Yelp rating is high. Location/services: Upon entering the building I immediately noticed the heat. It was a hot 98 degree day and the restaurant felt like an oven and was maybe 3-5 degree cooler than it was outside. I then quickly noticed this was a very simple operation (almost like a food truck), and not much to the menu, but there were folks sitting and eating and a few others waiting to order, so I assumed the food must be great. We ordered 4 meals (tacos with rice/beans) which was meant to be eaten there but after waiting in line and feeling like we were in a hot box, we decided to make it to go. We sat and waited for our food (about 20 mins), we chatted and observed our surroundings and it became very apparent the restaurant was not maintained with basic cleaning because it was very grimy and just plain dirty. I then used the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Our ordered was called and the staff was very nice. The food: As I mentioned, we got 4 orders of tacos (all carne asada) with rice/beans, and we asked for salsa and limes. We got grilled jalapenos, lemons and one sandwhich baggy filled with red salsa. Not a big deal. The meat was fine but the tortillas were inedible. They were tough, flavorless, and greasy. The bean and rice were ok. We ate enough to curb our hunger but none of us finish our food. Upon my best judgement, I had convinced myself that the food was gonna be great because their Yelp rating told me so. I was so wrong! One last note, there was nothing here that resembled a bakery/panaderia. So if you think you could also grab a treat here, you are wrong.

This place is officially bookmarked for every future drive through Fresno!…read more The lengua and chicharrón tacos were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I also sampled the carnitas on top of crispy taco shells as well. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the tortillas came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every bite reminded me why simple food done right is hard to beat. I was hoping to try the mojara frita, menudo, and barbacoa, only to find out the menudo and barbacoa are weekend only specialties. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed, but it also gives me a great reason to come back. What really stood out, beyond the food, was the hospitality. David, who appears to have been running the place for over 20 years, was incredibly charismatic and provided the kind of customer service that seems harder and harder to find these days. You can tell he genuinely cares about both the restaurant and the people who walk through the door. One of my favorite parts of the visit was when I saw the owner come out and greet the regulars and customers. The interactions felt sincere and heartfelt, not forced. There was a real sense of community here, as if customers weren't just patrons but part of an extended family. That kind of atmosphere is special and says a lot about the people behind the business. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment--I'll definitely be back, hopefully on a weekend next time.

What could have been a disappointing surprise turned into one of the best local dining experiences we've had in a long time. We had the pleasure of meeting Miguel himself, and his hospitality immediately stood out. He took the time to introduce us to several items on the menu and encouraged us to try a little bit of everything. I'm glad he did. The red beans and rice were absolutely phenomenal, and every single thing we tasted was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with pride. You can tell Miguel genuinely cares about both the food and the people he serves. What impressed me most wasn't just the food--it was the atmosphere. Miguel has a gift for making you feel welcome. His heart for hospitality is second to none, and it's obvious that serving great food and creating a great experience are his top priorities. If you're looking for a hidden gem in Clovis, this is it. Whether you're stopping in to catch a game, grab a meal with friends, or enjoy a simple flip-flop date night with your spouse, Miguel's is worth the visit. We'll definitely be back, and I can't recommend this place enough.

Miguel sells his auntenthic mexican food and Lisa sells her favorite sweet treats. By far on the market, they sell pretty bomb salsa! It's not like the generic salsa from store bought one, it's just like the unique homemade family recipes. And trust me, these are not as supper vinegary. I love Miguel's salsa! Miguel's message was to serve his community and bring his tradition to the table. He brought the flavors of Michoacan and Jalisco Mexico which were passed down from the Segura family. SERVICE :: I love Miguel's service! He personally serves you and greet you there. He offered me free chips and salsa while i wait. They were quiet busy but get things done quickly too. RATE : 5/5 SALSAS & CHIPS - COMPLIMENTARY:: His salsas and chips were the best thing I've ever recieved. He serves his famous red and green salsa with a little bit of ground beef on top. They go so well together. RATE : 5/5 RED SALSA :: It's hard to describe it here but it's roasty burnt salsa full of flavors. Not too vinegary. You just got to try it in person. RATE : 5/5 GREEN SALSA :: I personally love the green sauce more, in general. And still Miguel's green salsa still beats the red salsa. I can taste all of the greens and fruit in it. It may be advertised mild but the heat is there. It's about almost the same spice level as the red salsa. RATE : 5/5 ASADA TACO ($3.49) :: Besides his salsa, his tacos were amazing too. It's well seasoned, unique, and full of flavor. The asada is something that I've never tasted before. It's very herby, well seasoned to taste, juicy and tender! RATE : 5/5 TACOS DORADOS ($4.49) :: The tacos dorados were something different from what I've had before and were absolutely delicious. This taco reminds me of birria. The texture and flavor were also amazing. I asked for pork, it was supper moist, tender and juicy full of flavors. The cotija cheese brings a nice dry and light cheesy taste to it. And lastly, those pickled jalapeno just give a pop of juicy, sour, and spicy flavor. RATE : 5/5 PISTACHIO CREAMES ICED MATCHA (16oz - 6.49) :: Lisa use Tenzo brand. I've used and tried Tenzo before and it's hard to ratio the matcha. Over portion Tenzo match will be too bitter and too little too diluted. And yes, Lisa's Matcha was on the diluted side. The pistachio flavoring is light and taste artificial. The sweetness level is perfectly sweetend. Not too sweet. RATE : 2/5 NOTE : Spend anything above $50, get a $5 dollar off voucher for the next purchase. OVERALL :: Overall, it's a hidden gem that's definitely worth checking out! Don't forget his salsas, he do sell them on the side. I'll definitely go back for more and try his other menu!
