Historic wood stove cabin in the snow...yes, please!!! It was amazing!!! We'll be back!

    Cabin

My husband, adult daughter, daughter's boyfriend, my dog Molly and I spent the first week in June in a 2 bedroom deluxe cabin. It was our first time staying as we used to stay in the village but we have our Molly now so we wanted a dog friendly place. The "bad" reviews had me a little worried but from the moment we arrived through the morning we had to head home it was amazing! Everything! Ross, Dave, Aldo, Mike and I know I'm missing some but they were all the best! Great personalities and so helpful and personable! We had one day with no power as the electric company was working on something above and Ross called to let us know the day before. We were fine and just kept the refrigerator closed all went sightseeing down 395 all day but they offered to charge any devices in the lodge if need be etc. The continental breakfast was perfect and delicious. Great choices. We had a kitchen in our room as we do like to cook so we did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner this time but we enjoyed a cocktail. We loved the cabin itself from the fireplace, the bedrooms and two different bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed to the lakes so close for Molly. My daughter's paddle board was perfect there. There were short hikes, longer hikes or just a walk on the path to walk along also close to our cabin. We've already booked our week for next summer and are looking very forward to it! Thanks for a wonderful vacation Tamarack Lodge!! The LaCasa family!!

They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The entire location is beautiful and they truly think about the little details. Bryan at the front desk helped us book a room very last minute on NYE (same day!), and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in what we should know for our stay. We were able to book a cabin, and it was nothing short of perfection. They provide ample heating options in the winter with central heating as the primary. They have TVs for you to borrow and you can choose any DVDs you'd like, as well as board games and puzzles. I also appreciated that there are employees who make sure the grounds are safe in snow season. Our CRV got stuck after it snowed overnight, and an experienced employee came to help us out and also helped put our tire chains on. I can't wait to come back in the summer! This is officially our go-to spot for lodging when in Mammoth.

We stayed in one of the cabins at Tamarack lodge because we had our dog with us and dogs are not allowed in the lodge. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beautiful deck in front of the cabin. I wish the deck was gated so our dog could have been off leash but that is my only complaint. The front desk people were very helpful and made our checking in and out a very positive experience. The location is beautiful.

Little hills next to our cabin that kids can sled on

This was our first trip to mammoth and decided we wanted to stay here to get a more cozy and close to nature experience. All the staff working there were great except for the restaurants host who was kind of condescending when asked about a kids menu stating that they're only fine dining and can offer a butter cheese pasta. But everyone else was very eager to help and offer any type of assistances. the lodge itself is very small. Maybe about 8 tables or so. We stayed at a 1 bedroom cabin (36) and the location was amazing. It's close enough to the parking lot to not have to walk with all your stuff super far. We were right by the ski entrance so there's definitely foot traffic but it didn't bother us. My son enjoyed saying hi to everyone. The view was impeccable. We could see the frozen lake and the mountains full of snow. I will say the cabin is very outdated and didn't seem as clean to our standard. We had to request new sheets for the pull out bed and the extra blankets due to it being dirty upon arrival. There was no wood for the fire but staff was able to bring us some quickly and help get it started. The kitchen is fully stocked with all gadgets and dinnerware. There are plenty of small hills in the area that the kids can go sledding on. The area itself is about a 10 minute drive to town and they don't have a convenience store so if you forget something you will have to drive. All in all our first trip to mammoth was ok staying here. I'm not sure if we would stay here again, maybe booking a bigger cabin.

    Here we go!..

Decision, decisions- Organizing this fishing trip.. I decided to book a night at this lodge for next week. Easy to manage reservations online. And happy they have several discounts available.. anything helps.. I did upgrade to the cabin vs.. the studio- I need my bathtub!.. Also has a newer kitchen so you know I'm bringing my mokapot, and creamer-.. Who knows, maybe I'll pack groceries for dinner.. Hoping weather will be great for fishing- we usually come in September.. but will see.. Just got my confirmation - goes thru Mammoth Mountain reservations.

Great idea to have a chess game at one of the tables for couples or dads and their sons to play together

Perfect place to steal away and warm up after enjoying some winter sports. Hopefully you get Bartender Clay...he attended to my whole family extremely well and made us feel very welcome and special.

Extremely Poor Customer Service -- Save Your Money and Stay Elsewhere…read more The saga at this hotel just continued to get worse. We booked six rooms as a group, paying rates of up to $450 per night, and virtually everyone in our group experienced problems. In our case, we paid for an air-conditioned room for three days, yet the AC did not work for two days -- while the heat was actually on. Despite calling the front desk repeatedly, the problem was never appropriately resolved. At one point, Allie (sp?), who originally checked us in, responded to our repeated concerns by saying, "We have given you the manager's fan. What else do you want?" The fact that a hotel charging these rates considers a portable fan an acceptable solution for a nonfunctioning AC system says a lot. Things became even more disturbing when we spoke with Aureli, the assistant manager. Rather than resolving the problem, the proposed solution appeared to be moving us to an inferior room. When we tried to discuss the situation with her, the interaction escalated and she ultimately left the lobby while asking us to leave. Throughout our stay, we encountered an astonishingly confrontational attitude from staff. Statements from Aureli included "You need to leave the lobby," "You can't tell us what to do," and even, incredibly, "We have the room but won't give it." She even walked out on us when we tried to ask her the reason she could not change our room. This is not simply poor customer service; it reflects staff who appear inadequately trained in how to handle legitimate guest concerns professionally and respectfully. There were plenty of other problems as well: our bathroom cleaning was missed, the rooms were extremely noisy due to poor sound insulation, there was inadequate space for luggage, and there was no iron, phone etc etc But those inconveniences pale in comparison with the way guests were treated. Even more disappointing, Renee, the manager, never once spoke with us, despite the situation escalating to this degree. I do want to recognize Jenny, who was the one exception. She was courteous, helpful and genuinely tried to assist us, including helping us obtain the manager's fan so that we could at least sleep. We appreciated her kindness. When one guest has a problem, it can be an unfortunate incident. When a group books six rooms and everyone has complaints about the service, it suggests a much larger problem with how the property is being managed. For a hotel charging up to $450 a night, the combination of malfunctioning basic amenities, poor housekeeping, inadequate facilities and, above all, shockingly adversarial customer service is unacceptable. I rarely feel this strongly about a hotel, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property. Save your time, your money and your frustration and stay somewhere else. This hotel needs a serious review of its management, staff training and basic standards of hospitality.

The location is excellent -- less than a 5-minute walk to the gondola. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant. We've stayed here many times before and will stay many times again.
