I did not stay here but I hung out in their lounge area two days in a row as I needed a break between XC skiing. I came in here around 11am, however, their restaurant doesn't open until noon. There is a really nice lounge area where there are two fireplaces, jazz playing and a really cozy space to just relax. I just came here both days resting between XC sessions, ate some lunch I brought, had some water and just chilled out. Id definitely love to return and have a cocktail here and hang out here with a special someone, flirting the night away, plotting some clandestine tryst (maybe a beautiful hike into the mountains behind - looking at stars, listening for wild animals) and deeply enjoying life, big grins, and making each day count. Id also consider staying here on my next return, the surrounding area is just gorgeous! read more

We had a great visit to this spot this August. It's away from town enough that you feel like you are away from it all, but just minutes from fine food at Skadi. We stayed in a cabin and it was fantastic. We had a deck overlooking Twin Lakes and the cliffs above, a kitchen where we cooked one night (who wants to leave heaven?), a fireplace, and was totally clean. The only downside and definitely a star deduction was perhaps it was too clean and smelled strongly of cleaning solution. We left open all the window and turned up the heat at night and turned on all the fans when we left for the day and by the second day, it was tolerable. Continental breakfast was fine with hard boiled eggs and yogurt for protein and cream cheese and peanut butter and all the toastable carbs. We loved our hikes and I loved kayaking on Twin Lakes. It's a perfect one-hour paddle and so peaceful up at the waterfall. read more

My husband, adult daughter, daughter's boyfriend, my dog Molly and I spent the first week in June in a 2 bedroom deluxe cabin. It was our first time staying as we used to stay in the village but we have our Molly now so we wanted a dog friendly place. The "bad" reviews had me a little worried but from the moment we arrived through the morning we had to head home it was amazing! Everything! Ross, Dave, Aldo, Mike and I know I'm missing some but they were all the best! Great personalities and so helpful and personable! We had one day with no power as the electric company was working on something above and Ross called to let us know the day before. We were fine and just kept the refrigerator closed all went sightseeing down 395 all day but they offered to charge any devices in the lodge if need be etc. The continental breakfast was perfect and delicious. Great choices. We had a kitchen in our room as we do like to cook so we did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner this time but we enjoyed a cocktail. We loved the cabin itself from the fireplace, the bedrooms and two different bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed to the lakes so close for Molly. My daughter's paddle board was perfect there. There were short hikes, longer hikes or just a walk on the path to walk along also close to our cabin. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The entire location is beautiful and they truly think about the little details. Bryan at the front desk helped us book a room very last minute on NYE (same day!), and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in what we should know for our stay. We were able to book a cabin, and it was nothing short of perfection. They provide ample heating options in the winter with central heating as the primary. They have TVs for you to borrow and you can choose any DVDs you'd like, as well as board games and puzzles. I also appreciated that there are employees who make sure the grounds are safe in snow season. Our CRV got stuck after it snowed overnight, and an experienced employee came to help us out and also helped put our tire chains on. I can't wait to come back in the summer! This is officially our go-to spot for lodging when in Mammoth. read more

We stayed in one of the cabins at Tamarack lodge because we had our dog with us and dogs are not allowed in the lodge. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beautiful deck in front of the cabin. I wish the deck was gated so our dog could have been off leash but that is my only complaint. The front desk people were very helpful and made our checking in and out a very positive experience. The location is beautiful. read more

This was our first trip to mammoth and decided we wanted to stay here to get a more cozy and close to nature experience. All the staff working there were great except for the restaurants host who was kind of condescending when asked about a kids menu stating that they're only fine dining and can offer a butter cheese pasta. But everyone else was very eager to help and offer any type of assistances. the lodge itself is very small. Maybe about 8 tables or so. We stayed at a 1 bedroom cabin (36) and the location was amazing. It's close enough to the parking lot to not have to walk with all your stuff super far. We were right by the ski entrance so there's definitely foot traffic but it didn't bother us. My son enjoyed saying hi to everyone. The view was impeccable. We could see the frozen lake and the mountains full of snow. I will say the cabin is very outdated and didn't seem as clean to our standard. We had to request new sheets for the pull out bed and the extra blankets due to it being dirty upon arrival. There was no wood for the fire but staff was able to bring us some quickly and help get it started. The kitchen is fully stocked with all gadgets and dinnerware. There are plenty of small hills in the area that the kids can go sledding on. The area itself is about a 10 minute drive to town and they don't have a convenience store so if you forget something you will have to drive. All in all our first trip to mammoth was ok staying here. I'm not sure if we would stay here again, maybe booking a bigger cabin. read more

Decision, decisions- Organizing this fishing trip.. I decided to book a night at this lodge for next week. Easy to manage reservations online. And happy they have several discounts available.. anything helps.. I did upgrade to the cabin vs.. the studio- I need my bathtub!.. Also has a newer kitchen so you know I'm bringing my mokapot, and creamer-.. Who knows, maybe I'll pack groceries for dinner.. The Tamarack Lodge was a really lovely and cozy spot for our ski/snowboard trip that comes with a few caveats that people should be aware of as they book! Here are the pros: *The lodge is not that far off the beaten path from the Mammoth Downtown areas and was never super traffic heavy. (at least as of Feb. 2025 - I did see a new hotel being built on the way which might make the traffic worse eventually) I also liked how it was right by a gorgeous frozen lake and how easy it was to hike around the area with lots of reading material on trails as well as if you wanted to ski hike around. *Parking was usually pretty plentiful as well during our stay. And appreciated how easy it was to come in and out of the lodge. Continental breakfast was also served every morning and was pretty solid. We sometimes brought our own snacks down like our own hot chocolate and could use the hot water and eat by the window watching the snow fall or by the fire. *The rooms themselves were super cozy. We got the room with the attached restroom which we thought was great. It was bigger than expected with a living room area with a sink + a restroom with a toilet/shower + a nice bed area. The view was gorgeous and lots of lovely touches. We did pass by the shared restrooms and showers which looked all good. Did want to note here (don't think it's a negative) that you'll have to request room service if you want it including trash pickup. They do give you extra trash bags which were great. *The front desk usually was fantastic. Lots of great information and pointers on where to go and what to see. They usually went above and beyond! *This could be a negative to some, but although there isn't a fitness center/hot tubs in this lodge, Tamarack attendees can go to the sister hotel at the Mammoth Inn. Granted, we didn't realize the first night that the Mammoth Inn was about at 20 minute drive away and a bit of a trek in the dark. But when we got there, it was usually super lovely to find a lot of hot tubs and showers/changing rooms there along with another spot to explore. A few caveats as noted and by the lodge as well: *The walls are definitely pretty thin so do expect to hear footsteps and conversations from other rooms. No one seemed to complain but definitely good to know ahead of time if that does bother you. (Quiet hours are from 10PM - 8AM.) *The way to get to the rooms are a little tight, especially the second floor as it goes through the bar/living room area where sometimes a musician is playing at least on the weekend. It makes getting to our rooms quick and easy as well as to breakfast in the lobby but sometimes was a bit awkward when a bunch of people were in the area. *The lights outside the lodge were a bit funky. We were told there was a timer that went off at 10PM. However, during our 3 night stay, the first night had the outdoor lights on until 10PM while the other two nights had no lights come on at all outside. The front desk was nice enough to give us a free flashlight but would totally recommend bringing a flashlight of your own regardless or use your phone to watch out for ice in the winter. It does make for good stargazing at the very least! Nothing but a lot of love for our Tamarack Lodge trip which was a blast and the lovely people at the front desk that went above and beyond. read more

We had a great experience over Thanksgiving Weekend. Quite frankly Bruce was a tremendous help checking in along with helping carry all our luggage, as was Joshua at The Lakefront Restaurant. The service was impeccable & friendly as Rebecca could not have been more impressive & made us feel right at home. Need I mention Juan's smile & eagerness to help out as well. My wife and I stayed here the week of October 19, 2025. I've got nothing bad to say about this place. The staff were fantastic, super friendly and very accommodating on everything. Yes if you stay upstairs in the lodge itself, the rooms are extremely small but it was still a fantastic experience overall. We recommend the Tamarack! read more

Requested a refund well within the time frame, and with protection that allowed for a full refund a week further before the trip. The lodge refused to issue any sort of refund, for any reason. I do not recommend using this lodging, considering the snow conditions may change your ability to make the reservation. This company is ok with stealing your money. read more

My wife and I visited Mammoth Lakes the week after Labor day 2024. We had a picnic lunch at the Twin Lakes campground on 9/8 and were excited to see the Tamarack Bike & Paddle rental Yurt. There are miles of beautiful paved bake trails that go around the upper basin area and down into the village. We rented E-Bikes and opted for the 4 hr. rental. This gave us plenty of time to check out both the upper basin and village. The views are truly amazing. We enjoyed every minute of it. Grace was the name of the young lady that helped rented us the bikes. She was very helpful and patient as we had never been to Mammoth and had many questions. This was one of of our highlights. We cant wait to go back for future adventures. I highly recommend Tamarack Bike & Paddle rentals next time you are in Mammoth. read more

Amazing hospitality. One of my favorite restaurants places to stay ever. I had a studio cabin right next to the lake with a view from my bed and dining table. The cabin came with a kitchen and cozy fireplace. It was a few mins to walk to see a waterfall. You can have a continental breakfast (included with resort fee) ready for you at a time you want and it can be delivered to your room, ready at the dining room, or takeout. It's basic but you can tell they thoughtfully picked items to be organic etc. The staff were super friendly and kind. Hope to be back again at some point! read more

Tamarack lodge is a good option in mammoth. I'd take it over the Mammoth mountain inn if you're traveling solo and you are looking to enjoy lodge style rooms. The lower tier Tamarack rooms are (objectively) the same quality as the lower tier Mammoth mtn inn rooms. However, walls are paper thin. There is no garage parking or pool but the lodge has character and charm. It's well maintained and logically laid out. The shared baths are well kept. Beds pretty comfortable. It is in a beautiful area and I would take one of their cabins over the MMI offerings (aside from the MMI Chalet, pinnacle sweet, etc) if you're looking for a romantic getaway. The cabins are more private than the rooms in the lodge. Quality of the lodge rooms will depend on how loud the guests are around you and if you have a room on one of the far ends of the building. Location is not as good as Westin Monache with the gondola or the MMI with slope side access, but if you're looking to save a couple bucks or you like being near a lake -- this is not a bad option. Bruce, the restaurant staff, and the rest of the crew take pride in running the lodge. Experienced a nice service recovery from the manager after leaving a note of my issues with the late night noise (kids screaming and running around at midnight over the course of my stay) at checkout. Close to canyon lodge. Stay included access to MMI pool and MMI workout facilities. Minus one star because of the noise and paper thin walls. Would potentially return and stay at one of the quieter TML Cabins or the Top of Lodge Unit. read more

Never in my 19 years of staying at hotels have i been treated worse by someone at the front desk. Donald was the man at the front desk and the second we walked in to check in to the hotel we were greeted with pure disrespect and uninterest. He was specifically condescending towards the women in the party when they would ask questions, and only stopped when the oldest guy in our group gave him a look. On our 2nd night staying here we asked where to put our trash bag. I asked the bartender where to put the trash and then Donald instantly responded with hatred and told me to not listen to the bartender at all. I then proceeded to apologize and was met with more anger and rudeness. After this I asked where the board games were and asked what they may have for my family to play. Donald then proceeded to tell me that I am not allowed to see what games they have but then brought us to the front desk and they were clearly visible. It makes me truly sad the way me and my family were treated and I do not recommend speaking with the front desk if you want to keep your sanity. However, the cabins and amenities were great! Everyone working in the rental shack was lovely and the cabins had functioning wifi and a propane fireplace to keep us warm. I would 100% stay here again (it's easy to just avoid the front desk!) read more

What a lovely mountain retreat, old world charm mixed with rustic comfort. Such friendly and helpful staff and excellent job at maintaining a truly wilderness vibe while providing all necessary amenities. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. Caught a nice big rainbow trout right in front of the lodge at Twin Lakes. First time fishing and using a dough ball for bait We gutted and cleaned it and fried it up with butter right in our cabin within minutes of catching it and it was utterly delicious. Such a treasure. It had hardly changed since my husband visited over 30 years ago. Love that!! read more

Fantastic cabins in Mammoth Lakes! With Twin Lakes on the shore and Lakes mary, George, and Mamie nearby, this is paradise. The cabins are equipped like a 4-star hotel, with kitchenettes too. We came in late October so the colors were changing. It was definitely Gods country. My only issue is ghat the master bathtub drained very slowly. Hopefully that gets fixed. We are definitely coming back. read more

My wife booked us a cabin here for four nights back in July for my birthday in May. There was still snow around our cabin so we had to park down on the road and carry all our stuff and food up the hill. This cabin had a king size bed and there is a fireplace and three additional propane heaters in this cabin. Most of the windows are just single pane and they have a lot of windows and that is where they lose most of the energy from. The cabins were built many years ago and they probably need some insulation in the walls and floor and ceiling. At the night it was getting down to 19*f and the days was in the upper 50's or 60's. Our cabin was #21, each cabin is different size and some are two levels. This place is very beautiful. We could see the lake from our cabin. Our cabin did not have a T.V., but who would want to waste their precious time watching tv when you have the beautiful nature just outside. I highly recommend this place to others. read more

Location could not get any better. Right on twin lakes, with kayak and bike rental next door. You can just hop on the hiking and biking trails. We stayed at the top of lodge which is their 2 bedroom/1 bathroom/kitchen/living/dining area. Downside is that the bathroom is only accessible through one of the bedrooms. This is very annoying if the other people in your party have to use the toilet at night. On the website they make it seem it is like Jack/Jill style bathroom but it is not. The lodge is old but has its charm. The entire location could use some TlC. The another thing we were bothered by is that the bedroom that is connected to the bathroom has no windows. It actually feels more like a closet than a bedroom. The restaurant behind the lodge has a really loud vent that you can hear very loudly throughout the night. It really destroys the quietness of the surroundings. Unsure if we would return. Maybe we'll try a cabin next time. One that lays far enough from the main lodge. read more

I've stayed here a few times, only in the Studio Cabins, and have enjoyed myself. Its rustic, but it does have internet so I'm not totally unconnected. No TV, however they do allow you to borrow a DVD player and have a reasonable choice of movies. The Studio cabins come in slighty different sizes. The last one we stayed in was tiny, with a small fridge, a small shower, and limited storage space. We survived, however, though I will definitely make inquiries the next time I book. Was told that was what I should do to ensure a larger kitchen. Snow was abundant the times I have gone, and the shuttle to the mountain has been delayed for avalanche control at least twice. As a tip on the shuttle, ask to be let off at the tunnel and huff it to the Eagle Lodge trail in order to avoid having an extended transport by going to the village. The trip from the Village back is not too bad, but the other way (particularly if you are eager to SKI) seems to take forever. There is cross country skiing and snowshoeing at the property, if you are so inclined. The stay at the lodge (as well as an IKON pass) gets you 20% off. For a relaxing visit away from the crowds, in a quaint setting, I recommend. read more

Located in front of Twin Lakes, it's the perfect spot to do summertime activities in Mammoth if you are interested biking, fishing, hiking, or just enjoying the view. During the wintertime, it becomes a cross country skiing area. My husband recently stayed in one of the lodge rooms with a private bathroom. It's an old lodge and has been around since 1924 according to the sign. Our room was small but very cozy. I liked the grapefruit bergamot scented toiletries. There's no TV, but you can request one. It's not the quietest room because we heard nearby footsteps. The staff was very friendly and attentive from check-in to check-out. I like that they offered a continental breakfast unlike other Mammoth properties like Mammoth Mountain Inn and Juniper Springs. It wasn't a bad spot for one night, but I'm not sure I would stay here again. There is also a $23 resort fee. read more

We love the Twin Lakes area and were excited to stay at Tamarack Lodge especially given the highly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was mediocre at best. As expected, we loved the trees and mountains and quiet mornings, and we got to watch the sunrise paint the cliff, listen to the birds, and explore the lakes. The cabin itself (a studio) was just OK. The finishes and furnishings were quaint but sufficient, and at half the price would have been a steal. Even with the IKON pass discount, though, drastically overpriced for what you get: dingy carpet, beat-up furniture, barebones kitchen with a match-light stove, bathroom too small to bend over the sink or turn around in the shower. We do not at all recommend this place if you're bringing pets. They charge a pet fee per pet, per night; with no cap - so if you have two dogs and are staying a week, expect to pay over $400 before you even get to the room rate. This is obviously asinine, but the supervisor Josh refused to discuss a discount or cap. They also don't mention this until you're already all the way through the booking process. All the maintenance staff we ran into were friendly and helpful, but the front desk staff ranged from disinterested to outright rude. We will not stay here again until they change the pet fee policy, and will probably look for more reasonably priced lodging even then. It is a pity because the area is so beautiful. read more

We ate there last night with a party of five and we all loved it. It is a very small, old fashioned, all wood lined dining room. Imagine it was built in the early 1900s, like it was, and that is what it looks like. So if you're looking for something that is ultra modern, and what I call soulless, don't bother. But if you want a great meal with excellent, caring, staff in a traditional setting please try it. There was a short menu with five appetizers and five mains. Since there was five of us, and all looked good, we ordered one of each. So, uniquely, we can say we tried it all and loved every dish. One of our party is a certified sommelier and we brought our own wine and they charged a reasonable corkage charge. Since it was a 35 year old wine the staff took great care to uncork it with care, decant and pour with profession. We absolutely loved our server and I feel terrible to say that we do not remember her name. But hats off to her for being the right combination of informative, friendly, attentive and professional and she never forgot to smile. All in all let me suggest you try it in your next visit to Mammoth and I love you love it as much as we did. Bon appetite. read more

It was the cutest coziest cabin located near a beautiful lake with gorgeous views. The staff treats you like family. Everyone who works there made us feel so welcomed from the second we arrived to the moment we left. If we needed extra blankets, wood for the fireplace, more heaters and help with luggage in the snow.. it was met with a smile and amazing hospitality. The cabins are individually spaced. Very close to the lake and all ski resort Lodges. Easy access through the shuttles. Warm water, nice gas fire heater. The only reason it's not 5 star is the WiFi is TERRIBLE. can only stay connected 2 feet from the router If you have work to get done during your trip or want to try to surf the web for dinner spots or other locations in town. This is not the place. Barely any service in the cabin itself and like I said Wi-Fi will not stay connected at all read more
