Orange Chicken Rice Bowl and Spring Rolls

I usually work nights shift but when I work day shift I love being able to eat at the Food Trucks at the Greenway. Tamashii is always an excellent choice! The food is delicious, the workers are friendly, and the service is fast. Definitely recommend

Tamashii visited our office this week for the first time and it was also the first time I've had the opportunity to give them a try. I ordered the Crispy Chicken bowl and it was delicious; rice, slaw, and deep fried bites of chicken topped with yum yum sauce. I really wanted to try the pork, but it was sold out early. They also had a taco beef bowl and volcano beef bowl, but I thought the price was a little high for those bowls. Not only was my crispy chicken a great dish, it was served up really fast for a food truck. And the staff working the truck was super friendly and cool.

Tonight's menu, selling fast, was excellent.

Check out Tamashii food truck when you see them. We enjoyed some Japanese Soul bowls recently and want more. There were just 2 entrees tonight on menu, one was crispy chicken and the other a pork curry. Plus an appetizer of edamame. Wow, all were so good. My favorite was the pork curry, a breaded pork cutlet (sliced), served over moist sticky rice with a mellow curry sauce. Slight sweetness of some pickle veggies on top. The smell was wonderful and it tasted just as good. We were surprised by the cold edamame, which were seasoned with sesame oil and seeds, loved them. So use to it being served hot, but the cold were nutty and delicious. The chef said his truck is new and he's out to make it known. He wants to share his childhood memories of comfort food. Well done. Hope to enjoy more Tamashii again soon.

Five stars for food truck (4.5). Unlike any other food truck food I've had - good, hot, and quick. We got spring rolls, crispy chicken bowl, and shrimp bowl. The sauce on the chicken was great and a good amount of chicken with rice and raw cabbage. It was my favorite. The spring rolls were solid with plenty of duck sauce. The weakest was the shrimp just ok. We ordered and had food in five mins. It was still hot when we got back to the house. All the restaurants in Wild Dunes were closed so appreciated them setting up.

    "Yum yum chicken"

I'm so sad. I used to go to this food truck all the time at the MUSC greenway, their chicken was so perfectly crispy and flavorful. I went today and was SO disappointed. This chicken tastes and looks like freezer chicken strips cut into pieces with a dab of yum yum sauce and slaw. I gave an extra star just because the owners/employees are always nice. If I'm paying 15$, please give me something worth that price.

This is one of my FAVORITE food trucks! Most of the time when they are in my community, I always pay them a visit. I LOVE their yum yum shrimp bowl and yum yum fries. I can't go to their truck without ordering these two essentials. My husband things their orange chicken is one of the best he's ever had. I always get top notch service when I visit here too, I may or may not get recognized due to my frequent visits I will be a FROADIE (foodie food truck roadie) for life!

I had Tamashii for the first time tonight and it was better than I imagined! I had the crispy chicken bowl and my husband ordered the volcano beef bowl. The sticky rice and yum yum sauce was just perfect! They offer online ordering through Street Food Finder so you can avoid waiting in line. Our food was ready for the time slot I selected. I can't wait to try the yum yum fries next!

Volcano bowl is where it's at! perfect spice in your life!!!

I gatta tip my hat to the guy who served us. He was the only one in the food truck taking orders, and making the food! Definitely worth the wait! I orders the volcano bowl and I underestimate how spicy it was (in a good way)! The pickled ginger on top was the icing on the cake, beef was delicious in the sauce/marinate and the rice was cooked perfectly not mushy or crunchy. Wish I tried the dragon ballz though...my only regret!!

Had Tamashii for the first time tonight and must say it was very good, no complaints. The flavor was very good, the truck was very clean, and service was excellent. All in all, a good solid option if the truck is in your neck of the woods. If you're craving something out of the ordinary, this is the spot for you. The prices are conducive to food trucks and specialty foods, good job guys thanks. Salud

Then on to the issues here are the following: The hostess with the most-ess and the failed system of reservations and lack there of, no matter how far out you plan in accordance becomes a major debacle when arriving and leaves a poor taste in your mouth. Not to mention the huge snarky attitudes and negative undertones received from the hostess's staff. Literally, I witnessed the young black female this past Saturday evening, Kamaya, I believe is her name display a fake disposition, associated with a fake smile and then spoke negatively of patrons behind their backs, under her breath. I get it, they can't control diners who linger around after being serve and or can't control or predict, when they decide to leave so others are able to be seated and served in a timely fashion. But, I would suggest, to always remain very transparent and do not force bogus rules of rushing a party to arrive early and then convey a message that states your table will be held for 10 minutes and then released/ cancelled. When a party, such as ourselves, arrive before time and then are told that your party will not be seated until all parties are INSIDE the building, even though they are trying to find a park in this small parking lot. Finally, all parties of your group are present and accounted for, standing in your face still within the time frame mentioned. Then to be told, you now have a few tables ahead of you and the wait is approximately 20 minutes. Really? But in actuality you and your guests now wait 40 to 45 minutes after your scheduled reservation. All the while witnessing them seat random small parties that walk in after your large group with an actual reservation. I know this because I listened as I stood idly by the hostess desk. One or the management of this establishment need to focus on revamping this failed system and have some of your hostess to work on their attitudes. Last I checked, it is patrons such as myself that keeps them employed and your business successful and thriving. Also, a word to all other patrons, if you desire a table greater than a party of 12, prepare to pay a deposit of $10 pp but you still will probably have to wait for your reserved tables. The only thing that made me come back to this place was a special request from my daughter for her birthday and our amazing Chef Marcelino, and Gee, our server was pretty cool as well. Needless to say, with all of the hoops, unnecessary rules and lack of communication, unwarranted attitudes, rehearsed apologies and lack of organizational skills, it will be a while before we return to this establishment, if at all! There are too many restaurants here in the Low Country who strive for professionalism and actually value their patrons without the blatant disrespect from their hostess desk. I would give, 5 stars for Marcelino and Gee but 1 star for the hostess desk! Do better!

The place itself is kind of small. I sat at the bar but I'm not sure why but it felt a little off. It didn't feel like a normal sushi bar where I felt like I was able to see the chef prepare the food I'm not sure if there was some kind of height disproportion or if the glass with food was blocking the way. The staff was friendly but there did seem to be some kind of miscommunication between the server and the chef when they were doing hand offs on top of the bar. It might be better to do food handoffs at the open corner to the side so the waitress didnt have to reach high and over customers although maybe it is different when it is busy since I was the only one at the bar. The food itself was delicious although I must admit I can't tell the difference between normal sushi. I would rate this as normal sushi. To put things in perspective bad sushi would have dried out rice or fish that tastes a bit off in a bad way. Amazing sushi would be something that just tastes so different but in a good way. Could be a cute casual date spot or even a friend group meet up spot. Keep in mind the space is limited but it shares the menu and space with Taste of Thai next door. I havent been into Taste of Thai yet so I can't talk about the spacing in there.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.

This visit we found they no longer offer their cocktails, which was a disappointment because it was one of the reasons we came out. That being said we loved the Yellowtail, and the Baby Romaine was delicious!!! Brisket, was bland and dry, and at $32..a shame to serve. Not sure where the English pea and potatoes were. The sesame noodles were wet, drippy, and had no flavor. We'd go back in a heart beat for dessert. While it wasn't what was supposed to be offered, the passion fruit sorbet and the toasted blueberry/cake compote were sublime. The meals here are to be like a tapas, and shared, which really raises the prices. And since each plate may be one bite each for 4 people, you can see how quickly your bill will climb. Sharing a weekly menu on the website and bring back your amazing cocktail menu would be nice.
