We are on a mission to hit the majority of the spots listed in the Blackbird app and this is definitely a new favorite. I ordered the ginger lemongrass chicken rice bowl, which was both filling and refreshing. I love Vietnamese cuisine and the flavor pairings were on point. The perfectly seasoned chicken, avocado, rice, scallions, tomatoes, cabbage and carrots were so tender, fresh and delicious. I loved the dressing as well, which you can tell is homemade. Excellent service with a laid back vibe. I will definitely order the Drunken Noodles when I visit next. I couldn't decide between the 2 options today, so went with our server's recommendation.

Healthy fresh delicious food served by nice people with a good attitude and a small butt well laid out environment, on a beautiful day I love to sit out front while I enjoy my noodle bowl salad, I'll probably make it too hot as I always do, but I like spicy stuff and I never disappoint myself in that regard:-))

My friend and I were craving banh mi's so we came here. Ordering was pretty fast and service was friendly. The interior had a cute aesthetic. We both got the Red Curry Tofu Banh Mi. It was okay, but not amazing. The red curry tofu was interesting, curry flavor was good but I'm not sure if it went well with the other ingredients in the dish. I was disappointed that the pickled veggies weren't pickled enough like I'd normally expect in a banh mi. However we had our leftover banh mi's the next day and our sandwiches tasted better somehow. I think it's because the tofu had more time to marinate in the red curry sauce. Anyways, the overall experience and entree is a 3.5/5 for me.

Lunch was hours and hours ago, I wanted something easy and takeaway. Bon Banh Mi appeared in my Yelp search results and so we headed here. I placed a take away order at the counter and it didn't take long before my sandwich was ready. Yes, I chose the Banh Mi sandwich with "five spice ground pork" and it was delicious. Still hot by the time I parked, it was full of meat and veggies and lots of flavor. Next time, dine in. This was yummy! [Review 257 of 2024 - 1121 in South Carolina - 21292 overall.]

Amazing Bahn mi sandwiches, rice bowls and tacos. Twists on Vietnamese favorites. Local craft beers! Owned locally. What isn't to love!

I was starving at work and Ubereats had a coupon for $15 off so I talked my coworker into sharing an order. I am a weirdo and wanted something breakfasty, so I got the strangest thing on the menu: Taylor ham and egg banh mi sandwich. It was a sticky, yolky, delicious mess. The yolk bled through the paper and transferred red dye to our marble desk, but it cleaned up. My coworker is a creature of habit, and got the Duck fried rice because she'd had it before. It was delicious as always, with tender, flavorful duck. We shared the shrimp summer rolls, and they were the same you can get anywhere. Crisp veggies, sticky rice paper, yummy dipping sauce. I liked the creativity of my sandwich, and would happily try ordering something new next time. Maybe I can talk my coworker into trying something new as well!

Good not great. I had the steak special Banh Mi and it was tough! Flavors were just ok. I ordered my food extra spicy and there was no spice at all other than the Sriracha that came on the side.

*Personal Opinion* I thought the appetizer and drink tasted better than the actual meal. Maybe I should give another dish a try, like the sandwiches. However, the bowls did not really wow me. Black-Jasmine Semi Sweet Tea: It was the perfect amount of sweetness and refreshing! Sticky Wings: Tangy, Spicy bbq wings that had a good, Charr-y flavor and the pickles that came on the side were a perfect balance to the wings! Red Curry Tofu Bowl: I tasted the red curry, but everything (even with the sauce shown in the picture) was really bland, and my taste palette is usually more on the bland side anyway. Five Spice Ground Pork Bowl: My friend got this bowl and ate all of it, but he also said that it didn't really wow him either. Complaints: none Service was really great. The waiter was really sweet, and the restaurant didn't push us out of the restaurant when they were about to close. Overall, 6.5 out of 10.

Having tried the other location of this restaurant in the city, I thought this one would be similar but not as good. In fact, it was surprisingly pleasant, with ample indoor and outdoor seating, and I noted that the menu was not the same. Here, their tofu is red curry for example, while downtown it is five spice. There, the drunken noodles were a special, here they are a standard on the menu, and while it is quite different than any iteration of the classic Thai dish I've ever had, their hot noodles with fresh garnishes come out quick and make a very appealing meal. I'm not sure which location I like better, but I'm happy to try both and let them duke it out. Additionally, I got a semi-sweet tea (as a non-Southerner, I steer clear of sweet tea). Their tea was quite flavorful without being solid sugar, and while it seemed an expensive glass, they gave me another serving to go without charging me any more, so it was well worth it. Everyone there seemed very concerned that I leave satisfied, and I did.

Drunken Noodles and Red Curry Beef Rice Bowl

Food was fantastic!! The drunken noodles were a great treat. The shrimp seemed local, albeit a tad overdone. They had great flavor though! The beef rice bowl was a super filling meal without the downside of post-meal bloating and the general "gross" feeling you get when you eat a lot. The server was super kind. She offered us to sample the sangria and made sure we understood how the menu worked. As far as the general vibe of the place, it was clean and well designed, with a modern Asian-American feel.

I ordered the sweet potato roll and swapped the seaweed for soy paper, which I highly recommend. The roll itself was very delicious, and I added tempura flakes for a little crunch. In hindsight, I probably should have asked for extra eel sauce because the flakes made it a touch drier, but the flavor overall was still really good. My husband ordered the GMC roll, which is a spicy crab roll, and that was also included in the buy one, get one special. He really enjoyed it. He also got his go-to salmon roll and requested brown rice instead, and all of the customization instructions were followed perfectly. We also tried the vegetable potstickers. The other option was beef, which we passed on since those are often made with pork as well. The vegetable version just wasn't really my favorite personally, but that may come down to preference more than preparation. Overall, everything tasted fresh, the order was accurate, and it ended up being a really delicious takeout option. After seeing the menu and specials, I can absolutely understand why this place gets mentioned as one of the top happy hour spots around. Some nights even feature all-you-can-eat sushi specials, which honestly sounds wild for sushi prices these days. Definitely glad we finally gave it a try, and now we want to check it out in person for happy hour next time.

Zen Asian Fusion delivered an incredible sushi experience and made my birthday celebration feel…read moregenuinely special. We sat at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend, and from the moment we sat down it was clear we were in good hands. We were surprised right away with a complimentary amuse‑bouche--crab stick rolled with salmon--which was a thoughtful and delicious touch. To start, I ordered the seaweed salad while Justin went with the ginger salad; both were fresh, balanced, and a perfect lead‑in to the sushi. For the main event, I ordered a spicy tuna roll and eel nigiri, and this is where Zen really shined. The spicy tuna roll was exactly what sushi lovers hope for--very light on rice and heavy on fish, something that's surprisingly hard to find around Charleston. The eel nigiri was rich, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Justin ordered several pieces of sashimi and was equally impressed. We asked about albacore tuna (unfortunately unavailable), but were told the salmon was excellent--and moments later, we were unexpectedly served two additional pieces of sushi each. Completely unexpected and incredibly appreciated, especially for a birthday celebration. Between the quality of the fish, attention to detail, and warm hospitality, Zen Asian Fusion absolutely won us over. We've officially found our new sushi spot and can't wait to come back.

You definitely might need to cut it down or maybe half it for a bite but I still loved it. They brought it with a fork and knife, so it's kind of expected. I also ordered the Sambal or yellow curry with chicken. It was pretty good too. It came with a house salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious. The samba curry was really good too. I liked that everything came out hot. I also ordered the SC rainbow. It was good too. I pretty much liked everything I ordered. Id probably order all of those again. Service and ambiance was good. It seemed busier than I expected.

Absolutely love love love this restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, fun location…read more Parking can get tough during busy times but that's pretty typical for any great place. We have gone during their Paella Sunday & Oyster Roast events and spent beautiful late afternoons outside with friends. They offer a great variety of wine to pair with the food. We made a reservation, but ordered at the counter. We ordered a handful of dishes to share. The girl was very helpful and giving us a separate gluten-free menu that allowed us to order for my husband. This place is a Latin/Asian infusion so we were very excited to see how the flavors played out since it is two of our favorite types of food. The best thing I had was the special, stir fried udon noodles with the steak. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the chili spice on it was amazing and it wasn't overly sauced. The steak that accompanied it was also delicious. The tomato cucumber salad was fresh, but could've used a little more salt in my opinion. The bao bun and tacos were also nice and great portions. I would say for me I didn't love the pad Thai in comparison to the many that I've had before, because it was a bit different in flavor profiles than what I'm used to. I wanted a little bit more of the fish sauce and tamarin flavor. You have to get their milkshakes, I'm sure all of them are great. But the one we have was absolutely decadent and delicious! We had more than enough food, and ended up taking a lot of it home. They were multiple people helping us, and they were all very nice and friendly. I'm coming back for the udon noodle dish!
