The produce was bruised and the upcharges for a salad fork portion size of avocado for $2 was offensive. The atmosphere is that of a small restaurant kitchen you might find while on vacation abroad. The staff are friendly and want to make sure you have the best experience possible whether it's your first or fifth time in. Ordering comes pretty quick as their location is hoping, especially with to go orders. So if it's your first time in, ask for a menu and have a seat while you decide. The food was filling and light without making you feel heavy afterward. A HUGE plus is that they use cornstarch for anything that goes in the fryer, so a happy accidental celiac-friendly designated GF fryer! Which means nothing was off the table -- the Sweet & Spicy Sticky Wings nor the fried potato chips! Just let them know if you have an allergy and they'll steer you right and take care of you! We tried almost everything (save for the fried rice and sandwiches as those items did contain gluten)! I had the lemongrass chicken bowl but wished for the shrimp once I tasted that on the corn taco. There were leftovers and I think the chicken actually tasted better the next day being able to soak up some of the moisture from the rice and takeout situation in the fridge. The Summer rolls were tasty but I wished the rice noodles were just a touch more cooked. And, they didn't skimp on the fresh veggies-- finely shredded carrots, cabbage, cilantro-- on anything! I ordered the ginger lemongrass chicken rice bowl, which was both filling and refreshing. I love Vietnamese cuisine and the flavor pairings were on point. The perfectly seasoned chicken, avocado, rice, scallions, tomatoes, cabbage and carrots were so tender, fresh and delicious. I loved the dressing as well, which you can tell is homemade. Only thing is it ended up being like 60 bucks for three things which felt kinda expensive for what it was. My friend and I were craving banh mi's so we came here. Ordering was pretty fast and service was friendly. The interior had a cute aesthetic. We both got the Red Curry Tofu Banh Mi. It was okay, but not amazing. The red curry tofu was interesting, curry flavor was good but I'm not sure if it went well with the other ingredients in the dish. I was disappointed that the pickled veggies weren't pickled enough like I'd normally expect in a banh mi. However we had our leftover banh mi's the next day and our sandwiches tasted better somehow. We ordered 2 orders of summer rolls, 1 order is basically 1 long summer roll cut in 1/2. We also got a Vietnamese coffee and kids rice bowl(cucumber, carrots, lemongrass chicken). Our summer rolls were good but noodles were a bit hard(all other ingredients in there were fresh) so not sure they pre-made it instead of making it while noodles were just made out of boiling water. I would have made the peanut sauce a bit sweeter.Our Charleston friends recommended it. The Vietnamese coffee tasted like Vietnamese coffee but my hubby thought it needed more condensed milk. I am a weirdo and wanted something breakfasty, so I got the strangest thing on the menu: Taylor ham and egg banh mi sandwich. It was a sticky, yolky, delicious mess. The yolk bled through the paper and transferred red dye to our marble desk, but it cleaned up. My coworker is a creature of habit, and got the Duck fried rice because she'd had it before. Having tried the other location of this restaurant in the city, I thought this one would be similar but not as good. In fact, it was surprisingly pleasant, with ample indoor and outdoor seating, and I noted that the menu was not the same. Here, their tofu is red curry for example, while downtown it is five spice. There, the drunken noodles were a special, here they are a standard on the menu, and while it is quite different than any iteration of the classic Thai dish I've ever had, their hot noodles with fresh garnishes come out quick and make a very appealing meal. I'm not sure which location I like better, but I'm happy to try both and let them duke it out. Additionally, I got a semi-sweet tea (as a non-Southerner, I steer clear of sweet tea). Their tea was quite flavorful without being solid sugar, and while it seemed an expensive glass, they gave me another serving to go without charging me any more, so it was well worth it. We visited this place after attending a conference at the Wild Dunes Resort. Bon Banh Mi is set up like a coffee shop with several tables and an intrusive counter at which you place your order. We ordered the duck fried rice, a chicken taco, two shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce and a specialty sweet tea. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious with the accompanying peanut sauce. The chicken taco lacked seasoning and didn't express any particular taste profile. The duck fried rice was enriched by the fried egg (which needed another minute to fully set the egg white) but was a bit heavy on the oil and light on the shredded duck. But overall it was very tasty and uniquely flavorful. The tea was strangely spiced and not to my liking but my wife liked it. I was not impressed enough to miss this restaurant but recommend trying it. The counter service was quick, super friendly and our server checked on us several times although we had already paid. We stashed our dishes in the tubs as requested when finished. Unlike most of the restaurants on IOP, these entrees were not overpriced. We left no tip. Pleasantly surprised by the food -- it is hard to find good asian food in the south. The server was very kind - he offered a sample of their tea brew and was very informative of their restaurant location differences. Their downtown site is more of a take out restaurant and has a smaller regularly available menu, however they do have a jalapeño sriracha that is great but not at the mount pleasant location. I was craving asian food and luckily stumbled upon this place on yelp's nearby locations. I really wanted soup but decided to settle for cold vermicelli noodles. We walked in and the server notified ya of their Monday special -- duck pho; it was perfect for what I was craving. Of course I got this and we also got the summer rolls, duck fried rice, and the pork banh mi. These were all delicious! The duck was cooked perfectly and it was tasty. The summer rolls were alright -- I've had better. They seemed to have been pre-made and sitting for a bit so the wrapper got hard. The duck fried rice might've been my favorite -- I couldn't get over how tasty it was. The pork bahn mi was very tasty as well and the meat to bread ratio was great -- I don't like when there is too much bread not enough meat, but this was a perfect ratio. Their bread it also amazingly soft. I also enjoyed that they have a pretty big selection of beers -- some on tap and some canned. They also have sodas, teas, and coffee. Their tea was good and they brew it themselves so it was nice. The coffee is a very good French coffee that they make not too sweet -- lots of restaurants make it too sweet, but theirs was perfect for my liking.
