Wonderful! Amazing , original and high end spirits , many made on site. Knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Short hours, so plan ahead to visit this quaint NH village and enjoy a tasting flight or expertly prepared cocktail.

We were visiting friends in New Durham. They always plan the most interesting excursions for us. Today, we set out for Tamworth. After a delightful lunch at the Art in the Age Cage, we strolled down to the Tamworth Distillery. We were thrilled to see such an enchanting and charming distillery. We were able to look into where the products are distilled. Today, they were offering several ways to taste their products. You could have 3 tastings for $12, 5 tastings for $15 or a Cider Making which included a tasting of 3 spirits; make your own cider and a plate of cheese, biscuit and apples for $20.00. My husband did the 5 for $15 tasting of the following: Chocorua Straight Rye, Tamworth Garden Pommeau, Tamworth Garden Dutchess Gin, Old Hampshire Applejack, and Ginger Quince Cordial. Our friends did the Cider Making Tasting. Tamara was our server, and she was a delight. She took the time to explain everything to us. We found it most interesting, and my husband enjoyed all of his tastings. So much so, that he purchased a bottle of Flora Gin (which he had previously enjoyed). We enjoyed a really nice afternoon.

My partner and I first heard of Tamworth distilling after we bought a bottle of their gin at a local liquor store. After doing some research, we saw that it was made in Tamworth, NH and had made a mental note to go and check it out sometime. After some time, I did some research and found that they regularly do events at their venue. One of the events that caught my eye was a yoga and cordial tasting, so I decided to buy tickets. First off, when approaching the venue, I was in awe of the beauty of the facility. It was definitely built with the history of Tamworth in mind and has a modern farmhouse look to it. It also sits by a river and they have seating by the river to enjoy some tastings and to sit and relax. Our yoga session was outside by the river, which was the perfect landscape for it. After our yoga session, the workers were quick to accommodate everyone for the cordial tasting. They were knowledgeable about their products and the tasting was fun because of that. After the tasting and yoga session, we perused the store where they feature all of their liquors, ranging from various gins, whiskey, vodkas, and cordials, among other items for sale. I would be interested in coming back to explore more of the actual distillery and offerings. Definitely a spot to check out!

A must for the connoisseur: I admit I was accompanying a whiskey expert, who thoroughly enjoyed himself with the fascinating flavors.

It was very hot the day and you are forced immediately off the trolley to sit in a glassed in pouch that was 112 degrees for 20 minutes, which sets the tone of the experience in a negative way. You view the mansion hot and sweaty, which stinks (Pun intended). Even if it wasn't hot, people should have the option to skip the video. 2. The trolly is supposed to cycle every 15 minutes (trolly even said it on the way up). We waited over 30 minutes. 3. Some guests were chastised for things that could have been easily avoided by putting up signs. If you don't want people doing things which seem perfectly acceptable to do, put a sing up or put it at the end of your 20 minute video. I think the guests who were talked down too felt embarrased and it was unnecessary. 4. When you drive up to the attraction, there is parking, by the cafe. We parked, got out, and had to go up to some people working in the park to find that we had to continue driving up the mountain to get to the carriage house. Are signs that expensive? "Keep driving to see Castle In The Clouds" or "This way to see Castle in the Clouds".

    * Review from August 2025 *…read more My husband and I had a great time on this tour! I thought our guides were very friendly and informative. Yes, you do travel the same roads all night but there's very good reason for that and the guides explained it to us. Maybe I'd feel differently about that if our tour hadn't been successful? However, I know they can't guarantee sightings and the reasoning for traveling the same areas made sense to me. We were able to see twins!! It was so cool, especially as a couple from the far south being tourists in the northern US for the first time! I also didn't feel like there was much else to do in the area at this time of night so you might as well go moose tracking! Make sure that you're there at the time they tell you to be for check in. At check in, you receive a card and that determines the order in which you board the bus. So, if you care about choosing your seat, you'll want to be there on time for a good boarding spot.

This tour was a joke...sorry guys!…read more The guys were nice but it cost us $95 (and another $95 for my son and his gf) and they literally went up and down the sameeee couple roads all night. There was a stop at a convenience store in the middle. Convenience store was really nice (probably the highlight of the trip honestly) but they kept telling us over and over to thank the convenience store for staying open for us. Of course we were thankful but come on, they made out too since most of us bought something there and that's where the bus got its gas. Not only that, but if there wasn't a stop mid-way, we never would have took the tour. So why don't YOU thank the convenience store for staying open for YOUR tour? Also, maybe tell everyone once, not over and over like we are children??? We never saw any moose and although they state they have a 90% success rate (highly doubt that) and there's a chance you won't see any, in my opinion, they (as a business) should have offered us something. It didn't have to be money. It could have been a 50% off ticket for another tour or anything really. Think of it this way, we'll never be back. We live in MA and go to the White Mountains often. Someone asks us...we say...oh no, don't do that tour. Boom...you lost even more business. Not my problem but as a business, you might want to think through your policy's. There's not a person in the world who wants to spend $95 per couple to go on a tour of the same two or three streets for 3 1/2 hours and see nothing! The kicker was at the end when they had the gall to ask for a tip and put a flashing red sign that says something like, no tip is too big. Are you even kidding me???? Nice guys but maybe should think about their business model. Very important to know, you are NOT guaranteed to even be able to sit with your person or people you go with. Ridiculous! Also, supposedly doing this for years (I forget the exact amount but 30 plus comes to mind), and you don't know when the moose will come out (type of conditions) or do a little drive by before the tour? If we saw a moose, I'd feel the same way but at least I'd feel like I got something for my money. Meh...wasn't impressed. Don't waste your money and just go do the drive yourself. There's lots of maps on where to see moose in the area. We would have done this as well but thought we'd have better luck with the so called "experts"

It was a crisp and cool Saturday morning, and we had the place nearly all to ourselves. I wasn't expecting much beyond a few caged native New Hampshire wildlife and a good walk. Instead, we were totally blown away. First, the nature center is organized in such as way that it really is a walk through the woods. Paths and boardwalks wind their way through the compound, preserving the natural environment as much as possible. The animal displays themselves are first-rate. The enclosures are well designed to allow for both easy viewing and a sense of the animal's natural environment. The displays also include both information and activities for the kids. My boys enjoyed seeing the big cats, the deer, the raptors, and most of all the bears! Because it was a little cold we didn't have a chance the hike the trails, but when we go back in the spring we will take a picnic lunch and make a day of our visit.

Serious Concerns About Emergency Signage and Safety I…read morevisited the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center on August 2, 2026, with my 9-year-old daughter. This was our first visit, and before entering I asked the staff if there was anything we needed to know. I was simply told, "Just enter and follow the signs." About halfway through our visit, we stopped at the Gordon Interactive Playscape: A Predator-Prey Adventure. After about 15 minutes, I looked around and suddenly couldn't find my daughter. I immediately began searching the indoor play area and calling her name. No answer. I went from one section to another, becoming increasingly desperate. Then I started looking for an exit sign so I could figure out how to get out and find help. I couldn't find one. When you're looking for your child and don't know where they are, every minute feels like an eternity. After approximately 10 minutes of searching, I finally found my daughter. What a relief! At that point, I decided to leave. On my way back, I started paying attention to the exit signage and counted only one clearly marked exit sign. At the gift shop, I explained my experience to a staff member and asked how many exit signs there were throughout the park. She told me there were two. I asked, "Do you believe that's enough, given the size of the park?" There was no response. My concern isn't about blaming an individual employee. It's about emergency preparedness. If a parent is desperately trying to locate a child during an emergency--or if another emergency requires visitors to leave quickly--people should be able to immediately identify where the exits and escape routes are. Clear, highly visible emergency signage is not a luxury. It is indispensable, vital, and essential. I strongly encourage the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center to revisit its emergency escape routes, exit signage, and wayfinding system. I hope the center takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements before another family finds itself in a frightening situation like the one I experienced. Thank you for your time. Eds Santiago
