Coming from Atlanta where Vietnamese food is delicious and cheap I was a bit surprised by the prices. This place is at least a few dollars over typical ATL prices, but the food did not disappoint so I'll take it. We were a large group who ordered a whole lot of stuff. One of the favorites was the duck bao though the bao took much longer to show than the duck... I'm pretty sure they forgot about it. Chicken wings in lemongrass sauce were crazy good. I highly recommend. The beef eaters of the group liked the shaking beef. I really dug the salt and pepper shrimp though the portion size was quite small. Chicken cabbage salad was solid. Claypot fish didn't arrive in a claypot, weird, but it tasted pretty good. Not the best version I've had, but passable. Anyhoo, that's all I can remember. Really good banh mi on the West Bank and super affordable. I came in after shopping at Hong Kong market and realized that their sandwich counter shuts down at 5 pm. We ordered off the menu and got our sandwiches to go. Our order of three banh mi came out really fast and they came in convenient little paper sacks that made for convenient car eating. I got the mixed Vietnamese meats with pate and the lemongrass chicken. Each sandwich was less than $4, which is exactly what I like to pay for banh mi. read more

This is the worst restaurant i ever had. We went there last year with a group of 12 and they charged me double price. The son of the owner is a cashier who is SO RUDE!!!!! Always double check the receipt make sure they don't charge you double. It happened to me. I had to tell him to go over couple times. Foods were so bad, taste less. extra tasty peanut sauce at the table for dipping the lemongrass wings were nice and meaty with a great crunch,and a great balance of sweet/heat. shrimp vermicelli buns were great as well. i had the short rib and vermicelli entree. the ribs were some of the best flavored meat i ever had. at points it tasted like heavenly buttery goodness. the veggies were also extremely tasty - and having that peanut sauce at the table was a great kick to the dish. i also tried my friends crispy pork and eggrolls which were fantastic. everything came out to almost $20 a person, but there was a lot of food and it was worth the price. bonus point for the waitress saying y'all. i dont normally hear that from vientamese wiaitresses in nyc (obviously), it was extremely amusing. read more

I consider myself a well-decorated foodie with vietnamese being my favorite cuisine. Of all the Vietnamese restaurants I have been, this one by far overrules them all. Prices are great but the food is better! You get more than what you pay for both in quantity and quality. I have not had a single bad dish here. The beef stew and lemongrass chicken wings rank amongst my favorites but I am eager to try the entire menu. The place is clean, convenient, and on top of it all, the people are very nice. This is my back up when Pho Tau Bay is closed. The first time we went, they were a tad bit rude. We did give them another chance, and the determination is that the service is just ok. They have a lot more menu choices than Pho Tau Bay. I like the Korean Short Ribs with sticky rice and lemon pepper sauce. It isn't a Vietnamese selection, but it is good. Plenty of parking, large dining area, extensive menu, not a bad price point for the amount of pho you get. Usually order pho tai chinn, but since they didn't have it ordered pho tai nam -was tasty and hot and was craving it since I was sick. I was a bit curious about the yellowish unskimmed fat that pooled at the edge of the soup but I was hungry and craving soup and just skimmed it off myself. Pho Tau Bay used to be my favorite Vietnamese place in New Orleans until a friend recommended Tan Dinh. Do yourself a favor and eat here! The most difficult part about dining at Tan Dinh is the INCREDIBLY extensive menu! It's pages and pages of amazing sounding food; really quite overwhelming. I'm not picky, so I was comfortable just asking the server to choose for me, and I sure was not disappointed! The restaurant is nice, plenty of parking and staff, food is great, but it's a hit or miss experience. One out of five they will mess up my order. Everyone at my table of three got their meals and the server double checked to see what I had ordered(meatball curry). Fifteen minutes pass and not a single person came by to refill water or check up on us and still no food. I had to flag them down(by now everyone is done eating) and reorder. They bring out my food and it's the wrong curry. No one apologized or even mentioned it. Paid full price and left. Never again. read more

How do you review a place like this? Big, generous servings of excellent Vietnamese food. To me there are perhaps too many options of sauce and combinations of proteins and this can present problems in order accuracy, especially with the inherent language barrier. Whatever you end up with, however, will be great. So then why 3 stars and not 4 or 5? The food is 5 star good. The service is 1 star bad. One of the members of our party was served the wrong thing and our server was insistent that it was what she had ordered, would not take it back. I was stunned. Once we were served, we were completely ignored, and were rushed out the door as soon as we had finished. Go there, eat the food, don't expect anything but that. Maybe even get it to go. read more

This is my favorite pho in the city - fresh, flavorful, and good service. It's also very child friendly, which makes it a go-to spot.

I'm a regular customer, eating at least once a week for my lunch rounds. Their pho tai nam, grilled lemongrass chicken, and charbroiled pork spring rolls are fantastic. Decent food at decent prices; you can add a half star for the prices. Not as refined kind of place as some others, floors and tables are not kept very clean (many plates left on other tables for quite some time after the customers have already left); well at least the times I've been there. The lemon grass chicken appetizer is the bomb and I usually order that as an entree; the actual entree lemon grass chicken is so-so as it doesn't have enough lemon grass seasoning. The kids like the tapioca drinks. Portions are on the large side, if you have small kids you may want to split an entree between two kids. Start of service is good as menus and orders are quick but end of service is very poor. Servers do not check on drinks often and end of meal, you have to go to the counter to ask for containers (I saw two other tables have to do the same thing) AND you have to go to the counter to request to pay the Bill. Not good, some people are here for a quick meal and have things to do, ignoring customers at the end of the meal is wasting the customers' time and this should be corrected. If they correct this glaring problem, they would definitely get 4 stars. read more

Some of the best tofu I have ever had. The portions are enormous and the kids love the food. Their bubble tea's are huge and they have some interesting flavor's that I doubt you'll get anywhere else. Now that Pho Tau Bay is closed this is my go-to Vietnames restaurant on the westbank. read more
