Many years later (7 years IS many in my book) and who knew I would find myself back at Tandem Bagel. Reading my old review, I was all about the coffee and breakfast sandwiches and that still holds true, but this most recent trip was a big batch of bagels. As a Jersey girl, my standards are high but Tandem met them all once again. We were stopping by family for breakfast so we preordered a variety bag of a dozen bagels. Everything from salt to French toast was in the mix so there was something for everyone. We also got a tub of the plain cream cheese and a tub of the veggie cream cheese, both were gone almost immediately. We (luckily) preordered ahead of time. If you are stopping by on a weekend morning, this is the way to go. It was a madhouse, and I am sure it moves quick, but it was amazing to just pop in, grab our bag and head out. I like the food at Tandem and i'm glad they came up with the system for pick up orders to avoid waiting in line, it's great especially when you're on lunch break with limited time What i'm not happy about, is placing an order online and it showing they are out of a type of bagel , and i go in to pickup my order at 2:00 ( they close at 2:30) and there are three of the bagel I really wanted that it said there were none of. I inquired about it, and when i explained that that was what i really wanted I was told no, i couldn't switch it So, NOT happy- it's customer service it's a BAGEL and they will be closed soon Not cool Tandem ..... not cool at all I'm a local business manager so I'm familiar with customer service in this climate and sometimes, it's worth it to "swap out a bagel" that I would've even paid for... read more

Would give 5 stars but the service is slow. They often don't have the second register open when there is a long line. Bagels are great! Everything is always super fresh. The coffee isn't great. read more

Just ordered in person and picked up an everything with turkey, Swiss, lettuce, mayo. Got to MT Tom, opened my chair, turned on some music. Opened my sandwich...no turkey. Tandem, you're my everything (bagel). Found this spot thanks to our awesome friends that brought us here all the way from NY. We heard so much about Tandem and just couldn't wait to try it. These delicious bagels are made fresh every day. Make sure to get here early since they do sell out of the faves. As soon as I saw the French Toast bagel, I knew that's exactly what I wanted. Ordered this holy deliciousness with honey walnut cream cheese. Perfect compliment combo. We also ordered an everything bagel with olive cream cheese spread and another one with the jalapeño spread (errr mehhh gerrrddd, loved the spicy goodness). Coffee bar is presh. You can pick and choose or mix and match out of all the wide selection of self serve freshly brewed coffee they have. Of course, they have plenty of drink options besides coffee and many loaded bagels. Breakfast sandwiches and sandwiches are available as well as smoothies and tea. Tandem has the best bagels in the Valley, and their sandwiches are very good. The Easthampton shop is the best in the area. It's a very pleasant space, and the workers are both efficient and largely very friendly. This location seems particularly well run. One additional point, fyi: there are sometimes a lot of school kids here during lunch hour and school breaks. (They're not necessarily disruptive, but it can cause seating issues.) read more

Pay no mind to the bad reviews some people just have sad unhappy lives and take it out on yelp. Bagels fantastic, salads fantastic, service is great homemade cream cheese is great too! Can be a longish wait sometimes especially weekend mornings but that's to be expected especially during the school year. Omg the bagels here are very good, definitely ordered too much but don't regret a thing. It's a nice spot to hang out, there are tables inside and out, it was busy but didn't have to wait long for my bagels, and prices are decent. We had: --cheesy garlic bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese - favorite bagel of the morning. everything about this was delicious, but the cream cheese was the star. --sausage egg and white cheddar on a wild cheddar bagel - not sure what makes the bagel wild, but this sandwich was very good and hit the spot. --turkey chipotle on a wild cheddar bagel - a solid sandwich, packed with turkey, cheese, spinach, roasted tomatoes. --snickerdoodle with cream cheese - my least favorite of the bagels we had, but still a great bagel. Just wasn't as big a fan of this as a bagel -- savory (pesto, roasted tomato, egg, mozzarella) with sausage on an Asiago bagel - amazing. Cute place. They offer vegan options, alternative milks, gluten free options. The matcha green tea is sweet but good. My partner liked the chai tea latte. The harvest grain bagel was good but the vegan cream cheese has no flavor at all. Would be cool if they flavored it with chives or something. My parents liked the gluten free bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. Both times we've been there the covers popped off the cups and explode matcha all over me and the car. Even after we checked them. Something is wrong with the lip of the cups I believe. read more

Delish!! I love a soft bagel especially when they will toast it. Some shops won't toast because of the "char" on the topping but that's what makes it so good. That and the bacon scallion spread were perfection. My friend had a tomato, cheese and egg sandwich on a salted bagel, equally good. Coffee is hot and smooth. Service is fast and efficient. Next time we will walk in via the Manhan rail trail which is behind this location. The continual line of customers says it all. Plenty of parking and worth the ride (or walk). Took home a GF bagel, hard as a rock. I get that the texture of gluten products varies but this was inedible, threw it away. read more

These are not the best bagels I've ever had but it is a totally solid neighborhood spot. I love the sweet sandwich and the harvest grain bagel. Prices are good and service is courteous and quick. I also like that there's a patio and everyone there seems to be in a good mood. The coffee tastes burned to me, so I usually keep my order to just a bagel and get coffee somewhere else. read more

Great bagels and service! Always my go-to for buying a half dozen bagels for the week! My favorites are the whole wheat everything and the pumpernickel bagels. Also love the wild cheddar bagel. They really need to improve their system. The place is huge with many employees. Sunday morning around 9am. They have ONE person taking orders. I am third on line. All I want are two coffees. Not a latte or anything fancy. Just two coffees. I wait on line for 10 minutes and finally get my order taken. Then i have to wait 15 minutes. Yes FIFTEEN minutes before I get my two coffees. Are they kidding me? The coffee was fair, nothing special but to wait 25 minutes to get two coffees when there were only two people ahead of me on line is ludicrous. read more

Tandem makes great food but they mess up any order that differs from the menu. 1/2 the time that you add a second meat to a sandwich which makes the sandwich $11 they mess it up either leaving one meat out or swapping when you paid for both this is such a common problem it happens to all my friends who get the same order read more

This is a unique little place and I enjoy visiting when in the area. The bagels are fresh and delicious with a rotating variety. On my most recent visit I had a harvest grain bagel with was covered in pumpkin seeds and delicious. Fall flavors like pumpkin bagels were also available. The menu is short and sweet and prices are fairly low. On this last visit I tried the spicy breakfast sandwich with jalapenos and spinach. It was just the right level of heat. Their coffee is also a nice blend. But since the building seems to have once been an old train depot, the place has a cool factor to it. read more

LOVE this spot. It's my go to with the kids on weekends. (They beg for it, and are honestly disappointed when we don't go.) The ONLY qualm I have is that it can get busy, but they're working hard to get the lines down, and for the space they have ample seat. The space is well done, also. Comfy, but not too comfy. Right off the Mahan path, and very convenient to walk to. Now... The bagels. I lived in Manhattan. I have not had bagels that remind me of that experience in a LONG LONG time. (Could someone up here figure out how to make a decent Knish now, please?) The basic bagels are all done well, and the non-traditional Bagels are good too. (Try the snicker-doodle. I do it plain. It's like a breakfast dessert.) My go to right now is asiago with egg and cheese (pepper jack) with avocado. Perfection. The coffee is good, the tea is solid. Lots of different choices for drinks. Everything is fresh. The staff is wonderful. I can't recommend it enough... But honestly, don't go... So there's a shorter line. : ) (Edit:) I have since this review been many more times, and found the staff to be fantastic, and the owner to be an amazing person. I usually come with my boys, and one morning we rushed over to get breakfast before the hangry started, and I walked out the door without my wallet. I had sent the boys to grab a table, and as I was finishing the order had come to the realization that I hadn't brought my wallet. My youngest son had engaged the owner in a chat, and as I was coming to get the boys to go home and grab my wallet, and the owner told me not to worry. He'd cover me and we could come pay them back later. He also brought over a rice crispy treat for the lads to share, for free. We waited 35 minutes for 2 sandwiches on Sat and then they were cold . I've been going to the Easthampton location since they opened and it's very disappointing how things have changed . There is no one in management working on one of there busiest days , everyone is under the age of 20 , one employee sucking on a lollipop while handling food . Their bagels are in a tie with the best I've had in NYC. Generally speaking there's not much to improve on with this business. GREAT FOR ALL YOUR COFFEE WANTS AS WELL! I have yet to try the one in Hadley so I can't speak to that but the location in Northampton has their bagels made in Easthampton. I got an asiago bagel toasted with plain cream cheese and she had a plain bagel with chive cream cheese. We had to wait a bit but managed to get a table. My bagel was lacking flavor and had too much cream cheese on it. I absolutely love this place. So good and prices are very reasonable. My go to is the poppy seed bagel, egg, and american cheese, with a cold brew coffee. Everyone here is super friendly and they put it together very quickly! From order to receiving the bagel is typically about 3 minutes - it is quite a system! Have been here a few times. Love the degree of options and that they have inclusive food (things for vegans, gf-- my main caveat is they don't label these if they wrap them for you to go, thus rendering them inedible if you're in a mixed-diet group). The bagels themselves are almost always well-seasoned (a few instances where they've been bland), and they're popular so obviously they appeal to a variety of taste buds. The only reason it's not a 5* for me is that if you make customizations/ ask for items they'd have to press an extra button for you to get (like an extra side of sauce), you're as likely as not to actually get the thing you requested (but somehow they'll still manage to have charged you for it). Now that this has happened a couple of times, I know to double check that they actually included the thing, but it would be nice to not have to be hyped-vigilant about food being given to you as ordered the first time. read more

I am from out of town and my niece had talked about Tandem Bagel. I was excited to go yesterday and ordered 6 bagels one with cream cheese. I did not look at prices but in retrospect and talking with my niece it seems I was overcharged. The bill was 15.59 and online it says the bagels are 1.24 and the special bagels are 1.74. And cream cheese 1.50. Anyway of course I did not keep my receipt and not paying attention was my fault. I am from Ct. and am used to Cohen's bagels and found those to be better. Tandem's were dense but maybe on the healthier side. read more
