Both benedict's were decent, but they came with sourdough toast instead of the classic english muffin, making it very hard to eat. There was not much pork belly to be honest also. The hollandaise sauce that is vital to eggs benedict was lacking in my opinion, but I did really enjoy the side salad it came with. The kale salad was not good at all. The dressing tasted artificial and we did not touch it at all.

I'm not from here, so from just the outside and where you order, I thought they were a cafe first with food options, but nope. Definitely wrong, they make a great sandwich. And the coffees were also delicious! Baristas and team were all friendly, the space inside was very cool, cozy and comfortable and they had plenty of outside tables as well. You order at the counter and they will bring all of the food out to you, you also grab your own waters inside. A nice mix of casual and service. If I was local or visiting when I needed a space to bring my laptop and get some remote work done, this seems like a great option.

It boils down to a poor decision to change coffee brands from the excellent Counter Culture to some small batch, no name mediocre choice. Perhaps when this small roaster goes out of business, they'll switch back. They've fortunately stuck with Iggy's for breads and treats and the service and vibe remain strong.

There was no room on the small table for all of the dishes. Kind of ridiculous to try and maneuver. So we hurriedly finished off a couple of dishes so the server could make room for the dishes in her hand. I can't imagine if we had four people at the table and they tried to fit 8 dishes on the table. They really need to time the arrival of the dishes so that we can enjoy and leisurely eat..not rush through them to make room for the more on the server and chef's schedule. The food? The ratatouille was delicious as was the Caesar salad. The arugula salad was fresh and satisfying. The salmon crudo was small, expensive and kinda weird. The butternut cavatelli with lemon and chicken was a wee tiny portion for $17 that was gloppy and without the advertised crispy skin. The $15 octopus was one tentacle in a spicy mush mosh. The charred shisito pepper starter was undercooked and came without the advertised sea salt. No bread offered. The wine list was really nice and fairly priced. The house wine was tasty at $5.50 a glass. All in all, disappointing but promising. The small plate emphasis will cause bigger than anticipated tabs. They really have to think about the size, comfort, and utility of those narrow rustic tables. And they need to stagger the arrival of the food so that customers are not rushed through their meals with all the dishes crammed on the table at once. Some nice traditional plates of food for one person (not everyone loves the sharing schtick) priced from $18-26 would be great. There isn't parking directly near Iconica, so you'll have to find parking either on Main Street or one of the smaller side streets. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.

This review is for the newly open Hadley location: I had heard a lot of really great things from friends who live around the Amherst community and was very excited when I saw that they had opened one in Hadley, Mass. Servicescape: When I first walked in, I was surprised by how large the space was. From a large amount of light let in by the windows to the high ceilings and open floor plan, I was very impressed by how clean and welcoming it was. There was a slightly stale smell to the restaurant but the coffee and bagel smell distracted me from it. The rustic modern design of this "neighborhood coffee shop" allows for a calm atmosphere where students and locals can enjoy some food and coffee while meeting with friends, working, or relax before starting their day or during their break. Employee Interaction: Although most of the employees were new, they were all very friendly, outgoing, and smiling. They were very knowledgeable and for the information they were not sure about, they were not afraid to say that they would find out. When getting my coffee, the employee behind the counter poured the coffee then asked me if I wanted more coffee or if it was enough for adding milk. He also offered for me to be able to pour my own milk because "everyone has a different opinion on how much milk they want in their coffee". Cleanliness: Walking into Tandem Bagels, everything is neat and clean. The restaurant's colors are white with dark floors and wood tables. With that, it is very easy to see when something is dirty. However, looking around, all of the tables were wiped down and clean after the customer had left and the floors looked clean with no crumbs around. There were a couple of trash cans with bus stations next to them, but the trash cans were covered with a pleasing trash can cabinet that matched with the theme and allowed for the bagel baskets to be stacked on top of. The trash cans were not overflowing which allowed it to be clean and the bus station was cleaned very often. Since there were bus stations, there were no dirty dishes sitting around which made it feel very clean. Food Quality: Our bagels came out with no mistakes and looked very appetizing. The bagels had been made that morning and tasted very fresh. We were also told that they make their egg patties every morning so unfortunately, they could not make it sunny side up, however, it ensured that the eggs were fresh and never frozen. We were also told that all of the food is made daily to ensure freshness and quality taste. Overall Experience Overall, our experience was very pleasant. It was easy to locate, there was a lot of parking, and it was very welcoming. The food was very good and fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. It was easy to find a table since there were many seating areas, and everything was very clean meaning that we didn't have to avoid dirty tables. The atmosphere of Tandem Bagels allowed us to feel like we were welcomed to stay there and work as long as we were respecting everyone else there. The employees seemed like they wanted to be there and were very friendly even before they knew we were doing a project at the restaurant. They were very open to answering questions and finding out answers when needed. I like to have recommendations on where to go for food around the Amherst community and after hearing a couple of people rave about Tandem Bagels I was excited to go. With the experience that I had, I can gladly say that I will be going back there for a bagel, coffee, and to complete some homework. read more

This review is for the new Hadley, MA establishment. Floor plan: I came in for a coffee and a bagel sandwich. When I walked in I noticed that the place was rather large for a coffee shop. The floor plan was open with a modern aspect to it. There was plenty of space to sit at. There is also a kid's corner where you can have your kids play in while you enjoy a cup of coffee and do some work. Employee Interactions: When I approached the service station, only one cashier was working. Another worker saw that I was waiting so she quickly ran over to take my order. I ordered the cheesy garlic bagel egg and sausage sandwich with roasted red pepper. I also ordered a medium iced coffee. I asked if I could get the egg over-easy, but she informed me that they already pre make their eggs for their egg sandwiches. I was given a table number and sat down at my table. The food came out within 5-10 minutes along with our drinks. I went up to put cream in my coffee and the waiter that served me asked me if I wanted more coffee in my drink. He didn't want to over pour the coffee and in order to satisfy the customer's needs he waits for the customer to add cream before he asks them if they want more coffee. Quality of Food: The cheesy garlic bagel was crisp, thin, and soft on the inside. Although the egg was not over-easy the way I wanted it to be, the egg that was given to me however was soft and fluffy. The egg was complimented with a savory sausage patty and a sweet roasted red pepper. The sausage did not taste like the regular sausage patties that you get at a fast food establishment. It tasted fresh, along with the roasted red pepper. Overall Experience: Overall, the experience was great. I came in hungry and in need of a coffee. After I left my needs were satisfied. The coffee shop was clean, and employees were friendly, helpful, and informative. The food was slightly overpriced for a breakfast place, but the quality and atmosphere added to the experience. I gave the person at the counter a 20% tip because she was very informative. The total came out to around $8 before the tip. read more

I used to be able to eat their regular bagels, but now I'm gluten free, I have an intolerance. My husband and I travel (sometimes very far) in search of the best gluten free products. (We have flown to Nevada, twice, to get our favorite gluten free pizza). I was so excited when I saw that Comfort created a gluten friendly bagel, took the drive to their Westfield location and tried one. I bought a couple to take home incase they were good. I SHOULD'VE BOUGHT THEM ALL OUT FOR THE DAY. Unfortunately I was already on my way home when I realized how delicious they were, but I will now be traveling 30 minutes to Westfield every-time they have a batch out for sale. I had a plain gluten friendly bagel with scallion cream cheese (homemade as well) and it was so delicious, not even overly chewy! You could buy these bagels if you are gluten intolerant and use them as bread. They're perfect. Pictured here is what I bought to take home, gluten friendly Asiago Parmesan bagels and roasted garlic cream cheese. The gentleman working gave me a sample of the cream cheese and it was delicious- had to buy it! They have a LARGE selection of homemade spreads and they have gluten free sesame and everything bagels as well. Trust me when I say RUN, DONT WALK, to get one (or 15) of these GF bagels. They are so worth it. I'd drive hours to get these, I'd probably fly to get them too. Just try one. Thank me later.

But its consistently troubling issue is the large amount of flour caked on and baked on the outside of the loaves. They use an extreme amount of flour on the raw dough as a release from their baking baskets, and after the bake they just leave it all stuck to the loaf. When I bring a loaf home I often spend a few minutes smacking it and scraping it over the sink where I dislodge so much raw flour from the outside of the bread. Sometimes there's a rind of undercooked flour cemented to the outside of the loaf. This is wildly unacceptable.
