Bagels are awesome. Coffee is great. The Hadley store needs to get new large coffee cups with lids that FIT. Today is the fourth time that a lid has come loose on my coffee and spilled on me, my car, my desk, etc.. Brought it to the managers attention the first time it happened and he said that they were aware of the problem. Gave me a ToGo Mug and a GC and apologized profusely. He was very empathetic and understanding, but that was 5 months ago and had the same issue again this morning. I know to grab the cup with both hands, but once that lid falls off, it's impossible to keep the coffee from spilling. I don't want to stop doing business with them. I prefer their bagels and coffee over their competitors, and I want to support a local business. But it is about time that they fix the issue with their coffee cup lids. read more

The bagels are fine but the sandwiches are not worth it. They've cut way back on portion sizes-- I ordered tuna salad with avocado and there was a thimbleful of tuna and I couldn't really tell if they even put avocado on it. The focaccia was ice cold despite my asking them to toast it. Also the last three times they substituted a salt bagel for plain -- salt???? Really???? AND we ordered a side of lox and received a laughably small amount for $5. The prices, ridiculous small portions and order mess-ups just aren't worth it. Bagels, as I said, are fine. read more

I was so hungry and excited to try this place. I arrived to find the only person on front counter taking a phone order that went on and on and on. Others came from the kitchen seeing us but didn't ask for our order. I was at the time the only customer. When she finally hung up a few others came in and instead of taking our order she went to serve the folks who just walked in. I protested saying I waited for her all this time when on the phone. Instead of apology and taking order she stated the line starts here. WTF!! Fire this server if you care about your business reputation. Nice people, but a terrible value for sandwiches. I had the roast beef sandwich yesterday at the Northampton location. There were 3 deli slices of roast beef on the sandwich. Couldn't taste the horseradish. Asked for no lettuce, and there were lettuce fragments. A couple of weeks ago, I had the turkey sandwich, which was lame, but not as lame as the roast beef. I wasn't sure what to expect of bagels in the area but the garlic one I got here for my Tuscan sandwich was pretty good. The sandwich as a whole was fresh and filling. The employees were friendly and since I was already there to use the gym, parking wasn't an issue. Not sure their bagel sandwiches are anything I'll crave, but it's nice to know that there are solid bagels here if I have a hankering. read more

It's nice to see a local business thriving however I could never understand what the big deal is about their bagels... I think they're decent but nothing special , never was a big fan of the microwave egg patties they put on their bagels either...And yes I watched at the Easthampton location as they threw the egg patties into the microwave so I'm suspecting they get those in as a frozen product. read more

I've been to Tandem Hadley on three separate occasions with at least a month between each visit. And each time the experience has been less than enjoyable. Two of the times my order was wrong with missing items and the third my one vanilla latte somehow managed to turn into three coffees. In one of the instances my order was incorrect, the manager argued with me about it for 30 minutes insisting I was wrong and was reluctant to credit me. Today, when the woman taking order repeated it back and listed three coffee drinks, none of which was what I had ordered. read more

We have tried two tandem locations and both have great bagels and sandwiches, which is essential! This is our go to when we are stocking up on bagels, however I would not recommend getting espresso drinks here as both times I've tried espresso coffee drinks they've been really not good, like burnt coffee or something. read more

Pretty average bagels nothing bad, but nothing great. I do like the hot and spicy flavour. They don't automatically cut their sandwiches in half VERY annoying, so make sure you ask. read more

Ordered an egg and cheese on everything bagel. Decent enough bagel which came with one egg so added another. Disappointing that they charge a whopping $2 for an extra egg which are those precooked ones in a shaped mold, probably just microwaved. This is a review of the Russell Street branch in Hadley. I am grateful that this company is opening branches in the area. I arrived just at closing time, so the choices were understandably limited. My server was very pleasant but professional. I did not try their coffee. During the pandemic, I understand that the Black Sheep in Amherst is no longer importing their bagels from Brooklin, so there are no good choices right now in the area. Whilst Brueggers has some locations that boil and bake an acceptable product, the Amherst branch isn't one of them! It is also a rather scary store with the table by the washrooms giving every appearance of being used for drug deals. A tall pedophile from this table stood up, walked over to my 11-year old son, and gave him a long and deliberately focussed menacing stare. Homeless people need a place to relieve themselves, but they should not be circulating around the tables looking to collect partially consumed abandoned food. I wish Tandem every success, but I hope they employ an experienced bagel baker as a consultant to train their staff in the art of giving their dough more flavor and to further perfect their crust. Consider working with a local miller to prepare a better blend of flour. Consider experimenting with the yeast (UMass in Amherst has a huge collection and will work with local businesses). Finally, consider experimenting with fermentation time and temperature. The Valley needs this business to succeed, but a little more work is required to make this a reality. read more

I absolutely love Tandem. It's definitely my favorite place to go for bagels. They have lots of different kinds of bagels and drinks that all taste amazing. My only complaints is that they put way too much cream cheese on a bagel and it gets kind of messy to eat. You can ask them for less, but it would be great if they would just put less on. I would also say the croutons on their salad were a little too soft for me, but everything else is amazing. Tandem is still absolutely the best bagel place. read more

This review is for the newly opened Hadley site: I stopped in mid-afternoon on Tuesday, the day after opening after seeing this new restaurant. I had visited the Easthampton store a few years back and was favorably impressed. After a friendly greeting and a couple of answered questions, I got a roast beast sandwich on a gently toasted pumpernickel bagel. The horseradish sauce is delicious, and there was a decent amount of onion, lettuce and tomato, as well as the important protein and slice of cheese. I also refilled my mug with a fresh cup of coffee, of which there are several to choose from. Also specialty coffee drinks are available. The space is newly renovated from the old Sears outlet, and so it is bound to fill quickly on the weekends. I hope to return and sample either a pizza or salad. My only itty-bitty concern is that the delicious bagels are larger than I usually choose for a breakfast treat, but they make a very filling meal with other ingredients. But I am a bagel snob, so most folks should disregard this if you are looking for a nice, filling meal! read more

This place is great for all the reasons people mentioned. The bagels and options are great and the staff is sweet. I give it 3 stars because of two things that are so annoying on principle that I often don't bother going: 1) they're almost always super skimpy on the spreads, at least the ones I get. I suspect this is the policy they tell staff because it's almost every time and every location. Might be worth mentioning beforehand to make sure they add enough. They're usually cool about it. 2) The plant milks cost an extra dollar. This is just silly. Assuming they buy them in bulk, that's at least the cost of two containers. So this price is just a straight rip off issue considering how many people order alternative milks these days. Certain other prices here are kinda wonky in this way too. read more

I've been here on several occasions while getting my car fixed at Honda. After ordering my Jalapeno bagel cream cheese I asked for veggies on the side. They have no problem and put them in a little bowl. As we all know they all fall out when you bite into it anyway! Great coffee cheerful Place located right next to the Northampton gym. Came here to try it out, excited there was an independent specialty bagel place in the area. Trying to ignore the fact it's in a health club, so you have to park in back of the building and walk around to the side, and smell rubber and sweat as you enter the cafe. I managed to get the person vacuuming to put down the vacuum and take my order, I had a toasted bagel and a smoothie. The bagel was just ok, but it took another employee over 5 minutes to toast it and put cream cheese on it. The person making the smoothie kept walking around and checking her phone and when I finally got the smoothie, the fruit is ala carte each piece and the bagel with smoothie was like $7.50 and I did not add extra protein or any of that stuff. I went and tried the Easthampton location and the bagels were much better, much more staff to serve the customers. The iced mocha wasn't great though, tasted like chocolate milk with barely a coffee flavor, much less espresso. I'd return to Tandem, but, just the E'hamp location. read more

Bagel taste gets a five. Location and service gives it a two. The bagels here are consistently very good. The ham they use is delicious. A think chunk of it too. The location is atrocious. Parking sucks. And the staff seem to get it just a little wrong each time (especially the younger ones). I wish I could take their bagels and serve them at Brueggers. That would be a win. read more

What on earth??? I think I was just punked. First of all there's a thousand Covid signs when you walk in and people just mingling in the hallway since no one knows what to do or where to go. Here's a tip, put tape arrows on the floor and forget the maze of tables, chairs and signs you set up. Secondly my order was wrong just like every bad review sais. Been here once and they messed up already. Third, what's with the massive 1/2 thick chunk of Canadian bacon instead of "ham" like every other place on earth does. Did you run out of actual sliced ham? Lastly the price, wowsers! Is this Dubai? Who would go here more than once??? Even the setup of the place is bad with drink coolers and the menu in the back so you can't get your juice or see the menu while your at the counter or in line. Who designed this place? read more

This place is great! Their blueberry bagel is definitely my favorite. For a while I was just getting a toasted bagel to go and putting my vegan cream cheese on it at home but I was estatic to learn recently that they actually have vegan cream cheese as an option!!! Also I have never had a bad drink from them and I don't even like coffee but their iced coffee is delicious. They have a few non-dairy milk options... I do not remember all of them but I know they definitely have soy milk and I think maybe almond as well. read more
