After seeing a Facebook post from this eatery, I stopped by Desi American Kitchen in Acton over the weekend for takeout. I checked out online menus through the business on Facebook and on DoorDash before heading over here. The business online menu had the regular menu and the weekend specials listed, but online fees would be charged. The DoorDash menu prices were slightly higher and offered a good discount with $15 minimum purchase, but no weekend specials, just regular menu. I ordered two vegetarian weekend specials in person, paying cash. I ordered the Vegetable Hakka Noodles ($10.99 plus tax) and the Mix Vegetable Moilee ($12.99 plus tax), which was prepared to order and ready in 12 minutes. I actually enjoyed some of the food in the store since there are a few tables in chairs in front of the counter. The noodle dish had soft noodles tossed with carrots, onions, scallions, cabbage, green peppers, and spices. The simmered moilee dish had a mix of peas, carrots, potatoes, peppers, curry, spices, coconut milk. The included side of basmati rice was cooked right and not sticky. Both vegetarian dishes had good flavors, mild spicy taste. I will have to come back to try their dosas and biryani next time.

I would absolutely get everything I tried again except the corn, which was tasty, but not a new favorite. I love trying new things, so I'd say this was well worth the try, and I look forward to tasting something else new from their extensive menu. Oh! And the chutneys were carefully flavored and really complemented the food. The restaurant is inside a store as well, so if you are low on ingredients for Indian cooking (e.g. dal, ginger paste, spices), you may be able to find what you need. There was definitely a need for a full service sitdown Indian restaurant in this part of Acton since another great Indian restaurant with buffet at Nagog Woods had to close up the road due to plaza reconfiguration and a new Subaru dealership. The now closed Indian restaurant with a buffet still has an open location in Westborough. There is also another takeout Indian restaurant to the east towards Concord in a convenience store. Recently, I placed an online order to Madhuri (not to be confused with Mayuri) for a Fish Masala ($18.95 plus tax), Naan ($3 plus tax) and Gajar Ka Halwa ($4.95 plus tax), which would be ready in 25 minutes. However, I drove to the restaurant and arrived at pickup time. The place was short staffed and there were a few folks still waiting for their takeout orders. My order was in the system, but they did not start the preparation until I arrived. They did not have Gajar Ka Halwa and Gulab Jamun was substituted, no biggie. The guy wearing a winter coat was running the front of the house by himself including answering the phone, taking orders, and serving tables. 30 minutes after I arrived, I finally got my bagged order, but the Naan was missing. I go back inside and inform them and I get my hot naan 7 minutes later. I am offered a Mango Lassi for the wait and since I was not in any rush, I get a complementary Mango Lassi which goes well with very spicy Indian food. I drive back home and the food was still hot for the most part (dessert was chilled as expected). I ordered Fish Masala (salmon in a tangy tomatoes sauce, with onions, spices & herbs), but I was instead given Andhra Fish Curry ($2 cheaper - tilapia in a spicy curry sauce with onions & curry leaf) and basmati rice on the side. The given very sweet Mango Lassi (balances out the mistake entree) helped cleanse the palette on the spicy aftertastes. The hot naan was good. The gulab jamun (3 milk balls) in a sweet syrup was pretty good. Overall, though they were very apologetic on my visit for the long delay due to staffing challenges, they still need improvement on getting orders correct and speed of service. If this was an actual DoorDash delivery order, the Dasher would have likely cancelled the order or take the hit on ratings.
