After dropping off a client in Lexington, while driving to another restaurant for lunch, I changed my plans when I spotted Versa de Punjab and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. For lunch they offer a combination of 3 different curries ( I had chicken tikka, goat and lentil) rice, a generous serving of plain or garlic naan and a dessert. It was simply outstanding. They also have a very complete Indian menu. About 90 minutes from where I live, I can now justify a trip to the buffet they offer on the weekend.They offer a simple, stylish, clean dining room, with bar, friendly service and lots of off street parking, Lastly, don't miss trying their mango lassi. I have been to this establishment a few times. I like their ambiance. I consider the service they provide to be above average. Personally, this place is the best Indian restaurant in the area. I have sampled a wide variety of their items, but I will focus on two of them. Their paneer dishes are amazing. The paneer is fresh and lightly spongy without being too dense or crumbly. The paneer pakora is one such example. The paneer is stuffed and the chickpea batter is light, crispy and crumbly. The pakoras are then seasoned with chat masala. This goes for their other paneer dishes. Their dishes are authentic and they do not shy away from Indian flavors. Makki ki roti and sarson ka saag is a famous Punjabi dish. However, it is actually quite rare to ever find this item on the menu in the US, let alone in other parts of India. The item consists of a buttered roti made out of corn, and mustard greens that have simmered for hours with rich Indian spices. This dish takes to back to the fields of Punjab. The creaminess and silkiness of the saag and the grittiness and sweetness of the roti make for a flavor bomb. Also they serve this dish with raita, an Indian yogurt dish, that adds a refreshing touch. And if you want to add a bit of saltiness and sourness, they give you indian pickles as well. I came here for lunch on a workday, and the place was quiet, which after the hectic day I was having, I appreciated so much. The peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect midday break. The menu is extensive with plenty of variety (they also offer a buffet on weekends). We were greeted with a complimentary fried sweet potato appetizer while we waited for our meal, which was a nice touch. We all ordered the Mild Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and two sides of naan, one regular, one garlic. The portions were generous, enough to fill us up and still have leftovers for dinner. The naan was delicious, fresh, soft, and gooey. To top it off, we were treated to a mango smoothie-style drink at the end, which was refreshing and sweet. Nice dessert-ish. I got the chicken tikka masala (typical white dude order lol), garlic naan and mint sauce. The only down side is that it's a a bit overpriced or expensive but it's still worth it every once in a while. I'm not Indian and had no clue what the music videos were that they play on the TV but they're interesting to watch and I much rather that than eat in silence or extremely quit music. Some people may not like it but I actually like how they play the TVs kinda loudly. The first time I went there the service was comically bad, we were the only ones there and our server never came back after we asked for a mint sauce, more rice and refills. We ordered takeout from Virsa, so can't speak to the service or ambience but the food was delicious. We ordered the vegetarian pakora, butter chicken, papad, and paratha. The pakora was crisp and flavorful, with onions and peppers inside, and the butter chicken was delicious. We were disappointed to see we didn't get any rice with the butter chicken, especially with the paratha not holding too well for delivery. In the future, I'll probably just go safe and order naan instead. One thing we weren't expecting was that all the food had a little bit of a kick to it, which I found to be a pleasant surprise. Ordered takeaway from here for the first time. Hubby and I ordered the chili paneer, the chili chicken, and the Peshawari naan. Total came out to around $45 (without tip). What's Hot - Menu variety. Pretty good variety and there seems to be something for everyone- meats, vegetarians, vegan, and desserts. - Quality. The chili chicken was delicious. The chicken was nice and tender. The peshwari naan was tasty, as well. You could taste the slight sweetness, especially the coconut. My chili paneer had a decent amount of other veggies, like bell peppers and onions, which added to the flavor. - Portions. Pretty good size portions. The rice was in a large Chinese takeaway container, which was helpful for my husband and I to share. We also appreciated that it wasn't already with our dishes, because the rice would get soggy. Good size portions to get you full, as well. - Service. We ordered through Uber Eats before the restaurant was opened. Our food was made within a timely manner, which was helpful. They appear to communicate well with Uber Eats, because we received timely notifications when our food was ready. When we arrived for pickup, our order was ready in a bag by the front register. I confirmed the name for our takeaway order and the waiter was ready. - Spice. In our order, we asked that they make the food spicy, which it was. It was a good level of spice for me, but not for my husband, which I address below. What's Not - Dry paneer. Although the flavor of my chili paneer was good, the paneer was dry and not as cheesy/moist. - Spice. Hubby couldn't really taste the spice level very much. To be fair, he has a high tolerance, so I only add this to make people aware. If you have a high spice tolerance and you like your food really spicy, be aware that it may not be enough for you. - Price. For a dinner for 2 to be almost $50 is kind of pricey. To be fair, they have decent size portions, but be aware that if you are hungry and/or want to try extra dishes, be ready for the tab to add up pretty quickly. - Takeaway containers. Our food wasn't labeled, which was a little frustrating, because it was a bit difficult to tell exactly which dish was which. Given that takeaway orders are the norm right now, I always appreciate it when restaurants label the takeaway container with which dishes are which. It helps avoid confusion, especially when you're sharing dishes and/or if anyone has dietary restrictions/allergies. - Health and safety. The waiter who assisted us in picking up our order was not wearing a mask. During this time of the pandemic, when health and safety regulations are continually fluctuating, I get that it can be uncertain. However, I appreciate it when I see restaurants taking extra precautions wearing masks, gloves, whatever in ensuring the health and safety of others. We went to the restaurant for the first time to try the buffet, and sadly we will not return. The quality and flavor of the food were mostly poor. The variety was limited. We were looking forward to trying it based on reviews but felt that the reviews did not match our experience. The Raita was tangy, somewhat sour in flavor, too salty, and excessively runny. The mint chutney was too thin. Paneer tikka masala gravy had no flavor nuance and the paneer itself tasted somewhat dry and not fresh. Samosas did not have much flavor, and seemed a bit old. Okra dish was not bad in flavor but overcooked. Chana saag had little flavor, and seemed tired. Even a helping of rice from the serving dish was either undercooked or had hardened in the pan which when mixed with our food, was not pleasant. Service was friendly and pretty attentive, so we can recommend that aspect, but the food was so poor that we felt the experience still did not deserve more than 1 star. We left feeling disappointed, saying to each other that this was an especially poor experience. This is sad since it would be wonderful to have a flavorful and tasty Indian restaurant in Bedford, which we are sure would draw many people. Perhaps the restaurant has fallen on hard times. I I don't like slamming businesses - I tried to reach out - I emailed and called twice - once nobody answered during business hours and the mailbox was not accepting voice mails, the second time I left a message (also called during business hours) and no reply. Ordered take out on the way home from an event my daughter was at - got home and cut our samosas in half to find a bug - we live 30 minutes away so returning wasn't an option. Whenever we visit a new city, our top priority is finding the best place to eat, and this restaurant did not disappoint. We visited on a Saturday and savored their delicacies of the day. Onion Kulcha was incredibly soft and wonderfully chewy. Dal Makhani is my personal favorite. While you'll hear different opinions from Indians depending on where they're from, in Punjab, we take pride in our black dal makhani, with butter floating on top--a dish that shines as brightly as a moonlit night in a roadside Dhaba. Though I'm tempted to list every dish, I'm not a professional reviewer, so I'll just say that I packed my leftovers for a delicious layover in Washington, D.C. Breaks my heart to write this as it was my favorite buffet for Indian food. It's really delicious as you can see in other reviews. It's casual and they are accommodating to children (also very sweet to them) and their prices are very fair. However, there is someone that works there who is rude and was rude to my sister about a plate of food. I just don't think rude comments are necessary and he made her feel really bad. It just left a bad taste after a really delicious meal. Unfortunately I don't think I will be coming back soon. They came by frequently to remove plates and refill the water. Once we finished, they promptly paid us out. This was the most efficient buffet service I have ever had. I've tried multiple things and even though some weren't that great, on an average the food here is pretty good as compared to other Indian places. Prices are on a little high side but the quality of food totally justifies it. I came here for their lunch buffet and left barely able to walk, after 4 plates, 3 baskets of naan, and 2 bowls of their rice pudding. I was caught laughing evilly to get a second helping of the pudding by one of the nice servers and he encouraged me to eat more. I like it here! Personal favorites: chicken masala, veggie korma, fried fish, garlic naan, and goat!! They also have fruits and my favorite, rice pudding. Nice restaurant space that gets pretty busy at lunchtime. The naan does get a bit burnt around the edges but they are great about bringing you fresh ones as you eat. Weekday lunch buffet is about $15. read more

We have been to Virsa De Punjab several times for buffet and it has been decent enough with ample options and good quality. Recently was my first time going in for a-la carte post COVID and here is my take - Food - Best punjabi food that I like in the area. Must try - Chicken Tikka Masala (which is a nice creamy gravy with boneless chicken pieces). Naan was fresh and buttery! They seemed a little stingy with naan, which needs to be ordered separately. But enjoy the food About the service: I see some reviews saying that the servers are rude. I didn't find that to be the case at all. It's not that they're rude, they're just normal. They don't come up to you as soon as you sit down, introduce themselves and keep returning to your table every 5mins to check on you.
