Tonight was our first time trying this place and we were very happy with everything. Service was really on point, with everyone being super friendly and just the right amount of checking in on us to see how everything tasted and if there was anything we needed. We got the chili-cilantro naan, the Rogan Josh w/ lamb, and the Saagwala w/ shrimp. Everything tasted delicious... our only minor nit was that some of the pieces of lamb were a bit overcooked. We asked for "spice level 7" on our mains, which our server interpreted asmake it between medium and hot. I found it was less hot than a 7 in my book (it seemed like a 4 or 5 to me). When I told the server this he went back to the kitchen and brought us out a ramekin of what he called "green salsa" (note: this green salsa is a completely different flavor than the spicy green mint sauce that came with the complimentary papadum). We mixed this green salsa into both dishes, and the flavors and heat came out to be exactly what we were looking for. Nice, pleasant restaurant with plenty of parking, easy access and a lot of seats on a recent weeknight. I've had the buffet lunch here on occasion, but had not been for dinner in a long time. I liked the dinner a bit more than the buffet, as we were able to indicate whether we wanted our dishes to be mild, medium or spicy. Yay! I think there must have been some miscommunication, however, as I asked for vindaloo as hot as they could make it, and it came out without any heat whatsoever. I impressed my kids with my mouth of steel (no tears, no runny nose, no hopping around) until they tried it and learned my secret. Even without any heat, the flavors were very good and I was able to add hot sauce. Service was quite quick, friendly and efficient. Next time I'll make sure they spice it up! So my friend brought me here during the week and we tried out there all you can eat bar they probably had about 8 or 9 things to choose from. The owners are super friendly it's a family-owned business and I love that. A lot of the dishes I just felt didn't really have that much depth of flavor except for this vegetable dish I can't recall the name of it it's on the all you can eat bar it's the only vegetable something and it's not whole vegetables it's like more of a creamy chunky texture but that was really good that was probably my favorite. There's so much more on the regular menu to choose from so I would probably forgo the all you can eat brunch bar and try some favorites from the menu next time. read more

4 stars for the food, but 3 for the service. I've ordered to go orders in the past week and each time I entered, there were no employees in sight. There were a few people seated but no one to guide you or tell you what to do. Eventually 1 or 2 men would walk out and take my order. They spoke softly and I could hardly hear them. After the order and paying, they would just say 15 minutes and walk away. I had a colleague order there too and after she paid they told her "sit." I have never eaten at this place so I'm not sure if the service would be different. They weren't busy either times. The food: although the lack in service, the food is great! I've had the chicken tikka Marsala and it was yum! Their Chicken 65 was tender and and looked like sweet and sour pork. The garlic naan was great! The lunch special is a good deal, it comes with a good amount of food. I think it's about $14 or $15 now because they don't show the price anymore. I am looking forward to trying more of their menu. Also, I would do orders in person as we tried to order over the phone and the person hung up at the end so we weren't sure if our order was taken. We ordered takeout here based on a friend's recommendation. We were not disappointed! The service was great, very friendly. They honored our medium spice request, which I feel like is hard to do for Indian restaurants. When I came in to pick up the take out, I checked in the the restaurant and received the free garlic naan without any issues. Note that I also told the waiter I was planning on doing this over the phone. So maybe that helped him mentally prep compared to other customers who wrote negative reviews here regarding this? We recently visited Tandoori Palace in Encinitas and were disappointed by some dishes. The kadahi paneer had very gummy paneer cubes and lacked the usual fresh, soft texture. The yellow daal was very salty, while the aloo paratha arrived with almost no salt at all -- the contrast was surprising. On the positive side, the cashew-mushroom dish was well-prepared and flavorful. Given the price level, we expected a more consistent experience. We hope the kitchen will adjust the seasoning and paneer prep in future visits. read more

Came here for dinner recently, and it was excellent. We started with the paneer pakora, which we'd never tried before, but how can you go wrong with fried cheese? It was delicious and difficult to pace ourselves for the entrees coming. I had the lamb Vindaloo, which was very flavorful and delicious. Probably a little light on the meat versus the potatoes, but very good. Husband had chicken Karahi and loved it. I thought my Vindaloo was better, but he disagreed, and it is definitely a matter of personal preference. Service was helpful and friendly. The appetizers are fresh and plentiful so be careful or you will fill yourself up. Save room for entrees and desserts. Paneer parantha was very tasty, butter and garlic Naan were perfect- not like thick burnt breads most places serve. These Naan were cooked to perfection. We also liked malai kofta and yellow dal (homely food away from home!). Best part was how carefully all instructions were followed on the order, we had some customization and nothing was missed out! Yum! Great place. We ordered the cucumber salad, lamb chops, goat curry, lentil soup and got the free garlic naan with the Yelp check in. The cucumber salad was quite a generous portion. It had cucumbers, spinach, tomato and onion. It was very tasty and not spicy at all. The lamb chops came with plenty of onions and peppers and it was a whole rack of lamb. I prefer my lamb spicy and should have requested it be so. It was too mild for me but well cooked. Next time I'll request spicy. The goat curry was very tasty. Ordered it medium and the spice level was just perfect. Plenty enough to take some home. The garlic naan was the best naan I have ever had in my life!! Don't miss it. We came in to try this restaurant after we saw people's reviews. The service and ambiance are great, staff is friendly and the place is clean and nicely decorated. The food here is quite good - but there's potential for greatness i hope they realize sooner rather than later. Let's start w the name: Tandoori Palace. You'd think they would feature their tandoor oven in their cooking - and why wouldn't they? But why don't they? I ordered tandoori wings. They were fried, not perfected in their tandoor. They even had the dish featured in their food slide show above the reception desk. Nope. (Not to mention that they charged $2 more and put a bunch of bell peppers on the top- yech.) We also had chicken tikka masala. Why would they serve bland, white cubes when they have a tandoor oven?? And isn't chicken tikka supposed to be cooked in a tandoor? The sauce was really great, so it almost made up for the white cubes. Their aloo gobi was quite good. They roasted the cauliflower (in the tandoor???) and that really made it stand out. The highlight of the meal was the saag. It's really, really good. If I lived around here, I'd just order that and take it home to eat w dinner every night. Finally - the service was stretched, which I guess is a feature of dining these days. But it really didn't help to have a server/assistant who didn't understand more than 10 English words. Nice enough guy, but there were issues because it seemed like he didn't even try to understand what "don't pour beer in my glass" hand waiving meant. So 4 stars now - and holy cr@p this place could be amazing if they just lived up to their name. read more
