We did take out! The curries were so so delicious; the meats were tender and flavorful. The frontier Chicken was tasty tasty and juicy! Garlic naan was OK, a bit dry. I wish the curries came with rice and you didn't have to do it as an add on. Overall a delicious experience.

Amazing food for truly unbeatable prices. Staff remembered my baby from when I came back at two months old! It's always busy, and for good reasons. Great potions, friendly (albeit busy) staff and prices you can't find these days anymore. CASH ONLY! But worth the ATM pull

Teen me? Eh for Ghareeb Nawaz. Adult me? Big fan of Ghareeb Nawaz! Anything with a fresh paratha is a sure hit. The place has remodeled since the early 2000s and it's clean in the restaurant. However, the bathrooms still need work and I would make sure to go before I visit this place. It's still cash only and if you want a quick bite before hitting up the beach or before spending serious money on other things in Devon, I feel a little better eating at Ghareeb Nawaz! Food service is fast and you just order by the counter. Get some parathas to go too, they freeze well.

Ghareeb has been close to my heart for many, many years. A late night spot serving delicious food at still-affordable prices? After their renovation a few years back gave their dining area a face lift, what is there to complain about? The workers have always been friendly and personable and the food fresh and hot. HEADS UP: Ghareeb is a cash-only establishment. There is an ATM inside but you're better off having cash ready beforehand.

The price has definitely gone up since the last time I came here but worth it! Portion size is great. I love getting the chili chicken biryani and their butter chicken. They also have paratha specials for breakfast/early lunch for only $2 and they are filling! Can't beat the price on that one. Street parking only. Service was good. Food comes out fairly quick. Cash only!!!

Have I had a better Indian/Pakistani food? Yes, but this place is dirt cheap. We had the chicken biryani for eight dollars. It was enough to feed both of us. You can't beat these prices!

Ghareeb Nawaz is a great place to go to if you want some really good Indian food that's very reasonably priced for what you get. This location is cash only and they do have an ATM on site however to avoid ATM fees just make sure you bring cash. When we went the ATM wasn't working, so just wanted to give you a heads up . The service is definitely no-frills , and the cashier was definitely about the business. She was moving people along very efficiently and we probably waited for our food for 10 minutes or so. But it was definitely hot and fresh just how we wanted it so it was definitely worth the wait. We both ordered a butter chicken bowl to go and it came with some saucy butter chicken over rice. The butter chicken sauce was so delicious it was just what we needed. We aren't in Little India very often however because this place is so delicious and also because I wanna check out other places too we definitely will be back very soon.

The menu board. Lots of nice choices.

You can't go wrong with this place. Huge selection, good prices, very tasty. Just keep in mind that it is cash only.

This is a really really must go Indian/Pakistani restaurant spot in Chicago. Everything is just $13.75 (plus a soda too). If you order sth like this in NYC which is where I'm from, you will have to pay 2-3 times the price for this amount of food.

Vegetarian thali. Rice, paratha, yogurt, onions, and four vegetarian curries. All for $10. And served in about five minutes.

Cheap and tasty South Asian food, served quickly, in a quiet and spacious restaurant. Huge menu and portions. Staff had helpful info about the dishes. They don't seem to have typical systems like order numbers, yet the food came out quickly and everyone seems to find their order. Many people eating solo at lunchtime on weekday; also some groups. Muslim-friendly space.

I'm writing this review literally just for the best samosa you'll ever have. This place is nostalgic- cultural ties and family memories. I mean, Devon St itself is a world of its own and a vibrant thrill of colors, businesses, and busy-ness. Ghareeb Nawaz is an underrated corner stop that is a hub for Indians plates of affordable meals and snacks. This 5/5 is a spotlight review for the BEST samosa had; the exact ones that you'll spot as soon as you walk in and spot behind the glass counter. They usually have two selections, the veggie filled (cilantro, onion, peas, and some other greens) and the potato one (the $0.75 one). The deep-fried pastry is the perfectly timed-fried thing, nothing burnt or undercooked about it. More so, that, the seasoned mashed potatoes inside are also well-cooked and not overly spiced. The balance between the starchy potatoes and the chili powder, turmeric powder, with sprinkles of mustard and cumin seeds is simply effortless.

Can they do catering in a food truck?

I am not aware if they can. My niece in Chicago got food from them for many parties but ordered the stuff and went and picked it up. That is what you may have to do unless you can persuade someone with a food truck to pick up food from Ghareeb Nawaz…

    Do they cater at all?

Their website states they cater for all occasions

I arrive within twenty-one minutes buying only a quarter's worth of time at the parking meter thinking surely that would be enough time to grab my carryout order? Guys, why was I waiting an additional twenty minutes for food when nobody was in this restaurant? I hate when a restaurant draaaaaaags without giving any reasons. Thali shops have literal fast food. Not in the American sense but the foods are as simple as crepes (dosa) served with chutney. The other items would need more time. Curries, biriyani, etc Ordered an onion dosa and a masala dosa. Texture was different from what I'm accustomed to eating. But I'm wanting something similar to South Indian style. The onion dosa contained what looked like a full, medium sized onion. In Southie style it should be pan fried till brown, sometimes incorporated into the dosa or stuffed inside, this was barely translucent. Didn't slap. The masala dosa was mid. Didn't touch much. Hate throwing away food but.. Not wasting the stomach on barely good. Something about the texture of the dosa wasn't... It just wasn't good. One and done. If a restaurant offers dosa, it's gotta be great. Maybe their other foods are better?

We tried their chicken dosa, aloo samosa, and mutton thali. I love dosas but I think I prefer dosas from a different restaurant in the neighborhood. However, the mutton thali was delicious and I would come back here just for that. Which makes sense, it's in the name. I will be back!

When I say Tan you say Dory…read more Tan! Dory! Tan! Dory! Yes I know it's spelled different but the message here is to get the Tandoori. Easily the best Indian I've had. The highlights were garlic naan, Lamb Vindaloo, and of course the Tandoori Chicken. The only criticisms was that the Chili Naan was way too spicy. I like heat and Indian heat never really gets my mouth burning. This Chili was really just raw hot peppers in the Naan. Tikka masala was actually not great either. Favorite of the below was the lamb vindaloo followed by the tandoori chicken. The somosas were my favorite I've had to day- gotta get the lamb. They had those funky little indian pickles too which were great. Super aromatic. I felt it seeping through my pores (in a great way) for the next few days. Momo was solid but I'd either switch to chicken chili fry Momo or chicken 65 next time. This was our order: 2 orders of tandoori chicken 1 order of chicken tikka masala 1 order of lamb vindaloo 1 order of palak paneer 1 order of Momo 3 orders of samosas 1 order of onion pakora 4 orders of naan 4 orders of chutney 1 order of raita 1 order of pickles 1 order of dessert And we ate it all! 6 of us. Shoutout to the incredible staff and chef. We were able to meet him which was an honor and a privelage.

The restaurant was quite packed and full of patrons. Overall the restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear in there. We ordered the Chicken Biryani, The Highway Chicken Karahi, the lamb kebabs, the chicken Bihari kebabs, chicken Tikka and the beef Seekh kebabs. Although the food looked good, it wasn't quite up to the mark. The chicken biryani was dry and had too much essence in it, the chicken Tikka was dry. The chicken Karahi and the lamb kebabs by far were their best dishes. Honestly though for $228, we felt the food was overpriced and the quality of the food, fell well short of our expectations. Overall, we give Bandoo Khan a 3 out of 5 stars. It is a one time for us. There are better options out there with better prices.
