I visited Taneytown Deli in June 2026. I called them my office after looking at the website because I had a question about the chicken sandwich that they had listed on their menu online. I asked the lady who answered the phone if the menu item "Chicken filet w/french fries" on the overstuffed sandwiches section of the menu was a fried filet or if it was a grilled filet. There is another chicken filet w/ pepper jack cheese listed below that menu item. I asked if I could get the chicken filet with french fries and I asked her to confirm that it comes with french fries. She said that it doesn't and began to lose patience. I explained to her that I see a menu item that says a "chicken filet with french fries" so I wanted to know what that was. She clarified again that the sandwich comes alone and you have to order the fry separate. I was okay with that, however, I was confused because it is listed as "Chicken filet w/ french fries" on the website. I could tell by this time she was annoyed by the tone and her voice and I was about to say okay just give me the french fries and the sandwich. I was working so I really just wanted to be able to pick up something really quick and come back and eat while I continue to work. However things changed when she said do you want it or not?. I was taking a back but I composed myself and I said Well ma'am I'm just trying to understand what the sandwich is on your menu that comes with fries. She said again that doesn't come with fries it's separate. I still wasn't understanding or accepting it because it says on the menu chicken fillet with french fries by this time she was really annoyed and she put the phone down but didn't tell me she was leaving the phone I could just hear her taking orders in the background I was so appalled, I just sat there and listened because I could not believe it. When she came back to the phone she asked me if I wanted to order or not. Overall this was a horrible interaction in this review is way too long so I'll try to sum it up. The woman was disrespectful. However, I went over to the restaurant anyway hoping that we can gain some understanding because perhaps there was a language barrier or something. Unfortunately, her disrespect of me escalated as she began yelling at me and I had to repeatedly tell her to lower her voice when she is speaking to me. While I was there she had the realization that she was wrong. She at first try to argue with me as she did on the phone but then she realized that I was referring to the menu that they have on their website which is incorrect. I explained to her that it is not my problem that HER website is wrong. She went on to say that I should have told her that I was looking at the menu online. If I am not in front of you, you should assume that I'm looking at your menu on your website. Especially, if I'm asking questions about your menu you should know that I'm not a regular and I do not know your menu that's why I'm asking you questions. Why is it on me to tell you that I'm looking at your menu online? You mean you shouldn't be wrong. I have never been treated that way at any restaurant ever in my 40 something years of living. She is rude and she will never get another penny from me. Take a look at the menu yourself. Two months later, it's still wrong. Food: 4/5 family owned deli that has the cheapest, meat-packed sandwiches for a cheap price. I am pleasantly surprised that I was able to eat out for lunch with my husband for less than $30 for once. Besides being jam-packed full of meat, the sandwiches taste like if you just made a sandwich at home. Nothing super special, but a great cheap lunch stop option. Service: 5/5 kind cashier and quick service. Efficient even with a long line of people. Ambiance: booth seating available to dine in, seating about 4 people per table. As I first walked in the door I was overwhelmed with the array of menus on the wall. Not being from the area the nice lady behind the counter recommended the shrimp salad or corn beef Rubin so I opted for beef. It was a good recommendation and the beef was piping hot with just the right amount of toppings. It was so hot though it may be better served open vs. wrapped in paper if you're dining in. My sandwich rye bread was toasted but steamed too making the bread doughy. Still a great sammich. My buddy had the shrimp salad and that roll look good. Cream of crab was decent and could have used more crab in my opinion. Hospitality was awesome and there's a side entrance for seating with maybe 10 tables. Great deli! read more

This business discriminates against disabled people. First time I've ever visited, and they refused to let me in the place because of my service dog. If I could give less than one star, I would. The owner demanded a certification for my dog, which DOESN'T EXIST IN OUR COUNTRY. (I've added that particular section copied straight from the ADA website below.) Here I wanted to support a small local business, all I wanted was a sandwich to go and wouldn't have been there for more than ten minutes, and they discriminate and won't serve me over my service dog, who is federally considered medical equipment, much like a wheelchair or oxygen tank. And I don't think the business owner would have kicked me out if I was in my wheelchair. She did this whilst holding a card with the ADA laws printed on it in her hand, clearly stating that certifications are not something she can legally ask for. I have NEVER had a situation like this that couldn't be handled with a simple "he's a service dog, he's legally allowed to be here". My dog did nothing to warrant removal, what she did is absolutely illegal. If you're going to run a business, it's on YOU to learn the laws that apply to YOUR business. "Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go." "When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person's disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task." Wonderful experience! We ordered 2 of the 6 foot subs for a school event. We didn't have a lot of people show up for our event so I assumed we would have tons of leftovers. We had 2 small pieces left! Everyone was asking where we got it from and if they could take some home. So fresh, delicious and very prompt having our order ready on time. An all time Catonsville classic! The staff are very friendly and efficient, there is enough room for a party of 4 at their booths and they have several of them in their dining room. I usually order a jaw breaker, governors club, shrimp salad sub, cheese steak, mother clucker or Eddie Muenster's Revenge all of which are good. When I arrived, the lady at the counter was friendly and helpful, and it was a promising sign to see so many people coming in to pick up to-go orders as I browsed the menu. I decided on a turkey and ham club with bacon, expecting something spectacular. While the sandwich was decent, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. It was a basic club, but I think the flavor of the meats just wasn't to my taste. On the bright side, I got a parking spot right out front, which was convenient, though I can imagine parking being tricky during busier times. Solid food at an affordable price! Very rare nowadays. This place is a staple in the Catonsville area for breakfast and lunch. A little disappointed when I want a sandwich at night, but they've already closed for the day. All the more reason to order your breakfast, then some sandwiches for lunch and dinner later on. Woah! Can't believe I hadn't been here before. The menu is massive and the line appears a little chaotic, but the staff knows what they're doing. We ordered quickly and got our food fast enough. Unfortunately, by the time I got outside to eat it, it was too soggy. I would have preferred that they slice the meat and heat the separated slices on the grill before stacking. That would draw out more moisture before it made it to the sandwich. The sandwich was tasty and large, though. Best deli around! This place got some big recommends from friends that used to live in Catonsville. We stopped by when we were in the area to pick up lunch to go. The are really strict on COVID safety precautions, so only 2 people in at a time and then you wait outside and they will bring your order out. I really appreciated their due diligence about making sure all customers have a safe experience. I mean, I couldn't go here for my first time and not order the jawbreaker...and neither should you. That sandy is BANGIN! I don't want to get too in the weeds about all of this, but even just the way it was layered impressed me. I am a huge fan of this Korean-owned deli shop, located in Catonsville! Their menu, especially the types of sandwiches they offer, is EXTENSIVE - the different types of combinations that they come up with with the meats, the cheeses, and the toppings, is pretty overwhelming! I ordered "The 3 Stooges" (stacked with bacon, sliced turkey, and VA baked ham) and "The Jawbreaker" (stacked with corned beef, turkey breast, roast beef, cole slaw, and Thousand Island dressing on 4 slices of bread) - the sandwiches were assembled so perfectly - no mess here! They are deli-wrapped and cut for easier handling and for easier consumption. The bread and the ingredients were all super fresh and so tasty! All sammies come with lettuce, tomato, and mayo, but you can always customize.
