Hi was referred to Teresa for cut and color by a friend who has been seeing her for over 20 years. I had an awful haircut last year and came to Teresa looking for help. I had a really uneven short cut that I needed guidance on how to grow it out and repair the color. I have to say Teresa is amazing and a color queen!! She has really helped me to grow my hair as well as have the perfect blond I have been looking for for years!!! This week I had a Brazilian blowout and it is amazing how smooth and soft my hair is!! I can't say enough about her she is patient and amazingly helpful!! I am grateful to have found her. The salon is also a very comfortable, clean and fun atmosphere!! Nice salon but I feel like I'm taken back to high school coming here. I was forced to listen to this stylist Jamie talk badly about another girl, and then and to find out the girl she was badmouthing was getting her hair done by another stylist sitting in the next chair!!!! Next thing I know the stylist Jamie goes up to the girl and starts threatening her. Extremely unprofessional. It made me uncomfortable, I can only imagine how it made the girl feel. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for over a year now, since the first time I came into Tangles and had my hair done my Jamie Garland. This girl is my hair guru/savior/master. I have pretty dark brown hair, which she's transformed into a sun kissed, blonde-balayaged masterpiece that looks natural, effortless, and oh-so-chic. I've been stopped by dozens of women since going to Jamie, all who want to know where I got my hair done. I've even sent a number of them to her! It truly is amazing what she can do in terms of color (and cut, too! My lob looks textured and beachy, just the way I like it). I cover Fashion Week in NYC for work, and just to further prove how good Jamie is, the Tresemme runway style team stopped me as I was on my way into the tents last September and asked me to be in one of their street style videos...because they liked my hair. I give 100% credit to Jamie for that one! Aside from my lovely stylist, I like the environment of the salon too! All the girls are friendly and laid back. I wont comment on the stylist because it really depends on who you get. I asked for a stylist who cut curly hair, and she does, but just not in a way that I like so she isn't my stylist anymore. My complaint is more about the place itself. Could there be more fake boobs and fake tans and fake smiles? It's so full of itself. I had called to make an appointment, the stylist I had been seeing left the group, but they wouldn't tell me where she went (she did a great job with color, I just didn't have her cut my hair anymore). They scheduled me with somebody else, I found where my stylist was now working, scheduled with her, and then called Tangles to cancel, as I don't believe in not showing up. I got such a ration of crap from the snotty receptionist. I told her when the appointment was scheduled and I wouldn't come, she asked who it was with, and I said I didn't know because they scheduled me with somebody new who was available. She did the heavy sigh thing and said, "Well now I'm going to have to look through each book for your name." Uh...isn't that what you're paid to do? Or are you too busy staring at your boobs falling out of your too low cut shirt to do your job? It just wasn't my kind of place. It's too loud, too "trendy," and my boobs aren't big enough to fit into that crowd. read more

So I have said this before. Finding a good stylist is like finding a good pair of shoes, finding a good colorist is like finding that perfect outfit, but finding the two in the same person is like finding your soul mate! No joke. My poor hair has been put through hell and back and I found myself a hair angel. I stumbled into Tangles on a random Monday evening hoping that someone would be free to get my locks into some sort of manageable shape. Brandi was able to take me as a walk in and I am sooooo glad I walked in. I went from bleach blonde to vixen red just in time for the holidays and the color was amazing. She trimmed my mangy locks into shape and I had never been happier. As a Colorist and Stylist she is amazing and as a person so is sooo easy to sit in a chair with. since then I have gone back to have her take me back to blonde as red was fun but I am a blonde at heart. I was afraid of damaging my hair but she has been taking it slow and my hair feels amazing and looks great! No awkward in between color for me at all! Pricing wise I was scared as it was Los Gatos but It was ridiculously reasonable for the amount of time and care she lavishes on you. (just over 100 for cut color and style) The salon itself is very cute, the owner seems to have a good handle on everything and the other stylists there do not intrude on your me time (hair cut is me time!). I am not letting this one go and it's worth the long drive from up north to come and see her! read more

Ask about price again before appointment. I don't appreciate finding out that I have to pay $75 for my sister's half up do when she was quoted about $50 for up do and a little less for half up. I will dismiss it as a misunderstanding, but even more disappointed that we had to finish the job because it was falling apart an hour and a half later. read more

If you make an appointment at this place you will not regret leaving here! Once you walk in the staff is amazing; both welcoming and warming to new clients. I highly recommend Lauren, although everyone else in the salon does a great job as well. Lauren does exactly what you want with your hair and makes you look like a bombshell beauty by the time she's finished with your hair! Lauren gives your hair the right amount of highlights/balyage (most likely misspelled) where you can let it grow out for a few months and no one could ever tell that you had highlights or in the need of new highlights. The price is spendy but worth every penny of it. I drive forty minutes to come here because this salon is just that good; I am definelty going back and will recommend this place to anyone! read more

I stumbled into this salon almost on accident. I had been researching extensions for some time now and all the salons I've researched were sooooo out of control expensive. $2000???? HELL NO! (Now this was probably 3-4 years ago when extensions were just starting to become more and more popular). I was walking downtown LG and decided to pop in and ask if anyone can consult me on extensions. Lindsay happened to be free and gave me a free consultation. She was sweet, knowledgeable but most importantly her prices were TOTALLY REASONABLE! I booked my appointment right away! I went to her for about 2 years, and loved loved my extensions each and every time. Recently I've been giving my hair a break and not getting them done, but when I decide to do it again, I will be going only to her. She is my extension queen. Oh and she literally works sooo fast. I'm always in and out in a breeze. Lastly, I did ombre highlights with her a few times using the balayage technique and she did a really good job :) My sister has also gone to her a few times for color (bright red) and she did an excellent job. read more

I feel super ugly and often cry when I look in the mirror. The most money I have ever spent on my hair only to receive the worst outcome ever. My hair has no style, is about 4 inches shorter and the color (even after I went back to "fix" it) has not only faded but including the chop job, looks nothing even remotely close to the photo I brought in that was carefully studied. Won't come back. Went in with an idea only to have the stylist talk me out of it because she didn't want to take the time to do it. Instead of staying stern, I went with it thinking she knew what would look best. $200 later, and a trip to my normal salon on Friday to spend another $200+ to have it fixed. My hair looks like it's from circa 90's early 2000's trend. Go to House of Blonde or Faux/Station X. Don't even bother with this place, unless you just want to look at the aesthetics of it. Jamie Garland is a genius! Anyone who has ever sat in her chair will agree with me. Her skill for choosing color that compliments your skin tone and condition of your hair is amazing! I never thought I could have highlighted hair and always stuck to my basic black color but since receiving my latest update on my color and cut I am hooked! I received so many compliments and it was just the change I needed. This review is for BRANDE: I came in to Tangles devastated. A few days prior, I had my hair destroyed, colored and cut badly by someone in different salon. I was so upset. Brande looked my hair, and she immediately knew how to fix it. Moreover, she found time to fit me in right away, fixed my hair, and gave me an amazing deal. Now I can look in the mirror again :-) She somehow cut it in a way that made it look LONGER, and the highlights she put in fixed the color. Hands down (hee hee) Ti (pronounced "Tee") does the best pink and whites I have ever had. I have gone to dozens of places in San Jose over the years, and scoured Yelp for quality pink and whites- at long last I have found my holy grail. She is so good that I actually worry that she will move out of the area, and than what would I do!?!? She uses quality products (Tammy Taylor) that don't yellow or lift, and stay shiny for 3 weeks (I get fills every 3 weeks. They would probably last longer). I always, always have issues with lifting, but not with Ti. She does a superb job- she will ask what you want, and then actually do it. Thin, durable, beautiful nails. AND as if that were not enough, she is incredibly friendly and nice, she speaks excellent English and is fun to chat with. AND she is fast! Perfect nails in under an hour. Seriously. If you want cheap acrylics that wreck your real nails and turn yellow, go somewhere else. If you are willing to pay a little bit more ($35 for a fill) for outstanding quality and to support a hardworking, kind small business woman, go see Ti!! read more

Went here for the first time yesterday for my appointment with Jamie Garland and I am blown away. Had been anticipating my appt with her for months and was NOT dissapointed. She is everything and a master at her craft. My hair is naturally dark brown but I have been blonde for 15+ years... this is the first time I have attempted a dark root and been happy with the results. She gave me a balyage look with a darker root but made sure to keep blonde framing my face and throughout for a nice, clean look. She also cleaned up my blonde ends since there were numerous colors running through. My advice is A. go see her and B. let her decide what will look best on you. I had zero photos or idea of what I wanted I just told her to do what she feels would look best. Jamie is THE "it" hair girl and you can tell she has been trained and is truly a natural talent. Mind you- I drove FROM the city which was about 3 hours round trip and would do it again and again without a second thought. The salon itself is GORGEOUS. It is the right amount of girly and edgy (chandeliers are EVERYTHING here), yet extremely welcoming. They have a cookie and coffee area (YAY for Icing on the Cake). They had different fun movies playing leading into the Halloween holiday which was fun. They also use top of the line products (Oribe, Unite). My review is a little skewed because I only go there for Laura Young. Sadly she is moving soon to yet another salon, but she is worth it to follow. She is simply amazing and a very interesting person to talk to- her friend delivered Cher's baby...my hair turned out amazing as usual and she was even able to correct the horrible butchering I got from the last place...I guess you get what you pay for...Since first going to see her a few years ago (she still remembers me even when I don't go for MONTHS because I am cheap) at her old place, a haircut used to cost me forty dollars and now it costs 75. She is a little expensive but her cut is worth it and I haven't found better. On the rest of the place it is nice looking but I had to wait a while even though it was quite empty and I probably wouldn't pay that much if it weren't for laura! read more

I got my hair done by Chrystal. She is a gifted women with doing hair. I had brassy ombre and my roots were a mess. She changed my root color, cooled down the brass, gave me a nice ash blond balayage, and trimmed my hair. Her work went over my expectations. I am very picky with my hair. I wanted a color that would fit my olive skin tone and she did an amazing job executing this. On top of that, her customer service was 5 stars. So warm and welcoming. The products she used on my hair were great quality, I could not stop touching my hair. It's just the first day and I've had so many compliments. Thanks Chrystal! I'm definitely coming back. She is pregnant right now and is probably going to have some time off around December, but if you have the chance, book her before December or when she gets back. read more

Thankfully, I went in to see Rosanna at Tangles, a seasoned hair professional, who not only corrected me but took time to educate me before our session began. That point enough should convince you see Rosanna since she takes time in her initial consultation to understand your goals, examine your photos, and take you through her process. She isn't chatty like most stylists but I just assumed she wanted to concentrate on her my hair which I appreciated. This review is specifically for my stylist Danielle Burdick. Danielle has beein doing my hair for about 7 years now. She always does a fantastic job and listens to what I want. I like to change my hair color frequently and she gives me her honest opinion on what colors and cut will look good with my skin tone, face shape, etc. She also did my hair and make-up for my wedding, and she does it for special events as well (Masquerade Balls, photo shoots, etc) I always receive a ton of compliments on how great I look after I see her. I highly recommend her for everything from your basic cut and color needs to special event styling. She is reasonably priced for the area, she is efficient, professional, and extremely friendly. Tangles is also centrally located so after that perfect cut and color it is great to meet friends in downtown Los Gatos for dinner and drinks. read more

My opinion of Tangles isn't very high. With paying a hefty price tag for cut & color, I expect to be treated well (greeted by staff, offered something to drink, kept in the loop about how long the wait will be, etc.) I also expect a professional environment , for example, where the unoccupied hairdressers (4-5 at one time, obviously fresh out of beauty school) gossip in the back room, instead of at the front desk, completely clueless to the fact that a customer is right in front of them. Customer service & professionalism is lacking here, and for my money, I'll go somewhere else. Laura Young is a very talented colorist, a "color-ho" in her own words, buying new collections each season. Cuts are nice too. Talent aside, my time is valuable, isn't yours? I stopped seeing Laura because she consistently kept me waiting 15-30 minutes, every appointment. She works 2-3 people at a time; one processing, one haircut, one sitting in the waiting area. A highlight & color shouldn't take more than 2 hours, right? Better block out 3 hours. read more

I went to Kara for a color and trim a few weeks ago and she ruined my hair!!! I didn't want to make a scene so I just left. I have no idea how that girl passed in school and she should go back and learn how to do hair professionally. I ended up going back to my original salon and had to have my old hairstylist strip my hair and give me a new trim. Not only am I mad but I'm upset that I paid to have my hair done AGAIN!!!!!!! I should have gone with my gut instincts on this one and should've walked out of the salon once I saw her appearance and the way she has her hair done, she looked like a grease ball. I do not recommend Kara for hair! Customers are better off at Supercuts and going to Walgreens and purchasing that cheap hair dye. For the price it's more worth it! read more

I've been scouring Los Gatos for a perfect place for me and my bridesmaids to get our hair and make-up done for the wedding and I think I've found it! I read another review of this place and I can't believe that we went to the same place! An airy and open space, this place is really welcoming and gets really busy with young and older clientelle. I received a full color, highlights and cut for only $130 from Susie:) It was a great run-though so I could get a feel of what it would be like on the wedding morning... don't want to stress! They offered some snacks, coffee and water while I waited for the color to set so it was pretty relaxing. Susie did a great job and was friendly... i love how it turned out... and I'm picky! She made sure not to damage my hair too much since I often highlight my hair and made sure that I was satisfied. I also hear that they offer manis & pedis and make-up artistry (MAC products) for weddings so I'll be checking that out. read more
