This is a review coming from someone who is EXTREMELY picky with how they want their hair and eyebrows done...I've had some traumatic experiences in the past so when I find someone great, I STICK with them! I've been getting my hair done by Lindsay Alexander for several years. Not only is Lindsay great at cut and color, she is professional, funny, gorgeous and extremely understanding to your wants and needs. Since I went was at college in San Diego, I've waited to have my hair done by Lindsay every time I was able to visit back home in Los Gatos. She is always worth the wait! I recently lived in Bali and traveled throughout Asia and Australia for work for 8 months and was forced to get a trim. I went to Next salon in ION Orchard (a top salon in Singapore) and paid $$$ to get my hair done and was not satisfied. The master stylist actually thinned out my naturally thick hair...I was pissed. Luckily, I returned to Lindsay a month ago and she was able to restore the fullness and thickness that I love back to my hair. Lindsay always listens to what I want- keeping the length, thickness, health, color, and shine of my hair to perfection. She really has an eye for what cuts and colors look good on people and is honest in her opinions and has great suggestions when it's time for a change. Love that. She's also reasonably priced for someone with her experience, talent, and being in Los Gatos. Lindsay makes you feel like her best client everytime and is a breath of fresh air from all of the annoying, overrated, overpriced stylists out there. I love her sense of humor and always enjoy my appointments with her. She's incredible! I recently got my eyebrows waxed by Kimberly. Having lived in so many places, I DREAD trying new people out for my brows because I'm so scared and nervous that they will mess up because some people just don't listen. But Kimberly listened and understood my requests- focusing on shape, arches, and a clean, full brow. I paid $20 and will definitely be returning. Gotta love clean, fresh eyebrows! I have been going to Lindsay for years now... She is FANTASTIC! She always makes my hair look exactly how I like (and that is not an easy task!) I am a person who is never happy with my hair, and I have tried many different colors and stylists. Lindsay is the best I have gone to! I love love love this place. The stylists are always really sweet and they are young and modern, so they know what a young person might want. I asked for not-so-simple request. I just brought in a bunch of pics of different but similar looks and asked for a combination of them. My stylist and I talked it out and she figured out what to do for me. I was a little scared but it came out EXACTLY the way i wanted it! She really took care of me and offered me beverages while i waited, which is another reason why i don't mind spending the extra money for a nice salon-- the experience beats SuperCuts. The stylist i got was Lindsay-- super down to earth and sweet. Today was my first visit to Tangles and I will DEFINITELY be back! Kirsten was my stylist, and she did a great job listening to what I wanted and making it happen. I go to Tangles not because of the salon but because of my hair stylist. Lauren Finiello does a great job with my hair. I've been going to her for over 5 years now and have followed her to every salon she has moved to. Not once have I ever walked in with a photo asking her to make me look like a celebrity. Instead I tell her how I'm feeling that day and she rolls with it and I always come out wtih a great haircut and color. She will definitely give me her two cents if she thinks my ideas are far out and will make me look "fugly". She has great stories and always offers me a beverage when I sit in her chair. When I'm sitting under the dryer she always grabs me a stack of magazines to keep me occupied. If you haven't found the right stylist, then at least give Lauren a shot. read more

Kaycee is a doll! From the second I walked in everyone was beaming with smiles and so kind. Kaycee was full of fun energy and held a conversation the entire time! I don't trust anyone else with my hair other than the girls at this salon. I've had great experiences with two stylists: Kaycee and Kristen. Both are so sweet and down to earth. I moved to SF a year ago but I still make the trek down here to get my hair done. I have been going to Lindsay Alexander at Tangles for years and she is the most talented stylist I've ever had! Seriously, she's the best! She's very dependable, and even when I have an emergency or need a last minute appointment, she goes the extra mile to fit me in. I get highlights and a cut from Lindsay regularly and the color she does is amazing! Lindsay has great style, is very detail oriented and she is very intuitive with color. The highlights she does for me are always perfect and she gets right down to the root which makes my color last even longer. Whenever I change my color slightly she always chooses a blond shade that compliments my complexion. Also, she really cares about the health of my hair--I've had stylists that over bleached my hair and really damaged it, but my hair gets healthier after every visit with Lindsay! Recently, I was instructed by my dance team director to cut my hair short, which I was very sad about, but Lindsay took the pictures that I brought in and interpreted them into a very sexy and stylish cut that I love! Also, because she has a great sense of personal style, she knows what looks good and she imparts that style into her cuts. I also got extensions to add volume to my hair and they look AMAZING! Lindsay chose the perfect shade and I get compliments on my hair all the time! Furthermore, my line of work is in the entertainment industry, and my look is an important part of my job. My dance director saw my cut and exclaimed about how good it looked--she loved it! I carry around a bunch of Lindsay's business cards, and give them to everyone who compliments her work. Several of my friends and family switched to Lindsay and they have had the same experience--they love her! If you're looking for a new stylist, go to Lindsay! I have seen Kirsten twice for a haircut! She is really talented. The first haircut I got from her, my hair was soft for 4 months after! I usually get my haircut every 3-4 months but with her, I am able to do every 6! She's talented, I'm always seen on time and she styles my hair very nicely after. She's really awesome!!! read more

I don't get what everyone is talking about here. I went to Tangles for the first time and everyone was beyond polite and the salon was very professional. I waited about 10 minutes for my stylist, but since when are salons EVER on time?? I went to see Laura Young at the recommendation of another Yelper (Thank you Julie!) and she was FABULOUS. I told her what I wanted done, and it came out way better than I could have imagined. I only paid $90 for a partial highlight and I have really long hair. I think that's a very reasonable price for a good hair color. She was quick, SUPER friendly and extremely talented. I will definitely be going back to her not only for highlights but for cuts as well. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reasonable salon. UPDATE: I went to Laura for a haircut, it was great. She was quick and did a great job. Didn't try to do anything fancy just made it manageable and stylable. It should grow out nicely and she only charges $65. read more

Rene is one of the best hair stylists in the bay area! Even when I don't know exactly what I want to do with my hair, I trust her to do her magic and it's amazing every time! I discovered Rene in 2005 and I have followed her since then. I live in SF now and I still make the 1 hour drive to see her! She also hires some of the best and nicest stylists and her salon is always clean and tidy. Anyone that has the time to create a fake yelp profile (Lana W.) and write false statements is a jealous loser hater that has nothing better to do with their time. Got my hair done there for the first time today by Lauren. Great place! Everybody is so nice. My hair looks amazing and is softer than ever. I wanted it done totally different, but the stylists are so good at helping you pick exactly what will look good. I was there for about 3 hours, and every minute of it was great. It's not the cheapest salon out there, but is totally worth it. Of course, its also not a $300 for a haircut salon. I will definitely be coming back every few month. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and definitely love this salon. Kaycee always does such a great job with my hair, and I always look forward to my appointments. She does an amazing job with coloring and can always suggest something that would look great on you if you're wanting a change but not sure what to do. The salon is right in downtown LG so you can walk and get coffee, get sweets from icing on the cake, or hit up a wine bar after your appointment which is nice. read more

Love love LOVE Shaleen and her skills with color! She's such a sweetheart and really listens to you and what you want to do with your hair. She is a hair genius! Rene did such a great job orchestrating taking back Tangles - the location is fantastic, it is decorated really modern and hip, the salon itself is really open and doesn't asphyxiate you with chemicals (a fantastic bonus!), and they added a nail corner, which is awesome ... I've been coming faithfully here for a year. I love my stylist but she tends to keep me there for 3+ hours! She does great highlight and haircolor but I haven't been too WOW'ed by her haircuts except once and it was actually a different haircut then I envisioned. I also tried eyelash extensions there and they were OK. It didn't last for 2 weeks though. Maybe because I got sick and kept rubbing my eyes but I think there is a loooong way before eyelash extensions start looking more natural. The hairs they use are stiff and crinkle so if you are a side sleeper BEWARE because the eyelash extensions crinkle and hard to tame! One thing I hated was that they tape your bottom lashes down and the tape hurts and cuts into your eyeball if you aren't careful..... I felt more satisfied at Atlier Aveda Salon in Santana Row but I can't afford them ALL THE TIME! read more

Lindsey is AMAZING! She is so nice and really listens to what I want. She knows what she is doing and I totally trust her, which is the most important in my book. She does amazing highlights and a great cut. I have fine hair but a lot of it. Every cut shows and Lindsey blends everything so well. Parking is a pain in the butt here but I can't take a star off for that because I don't feel like that has to do with the service. All the people that work here are nice and they always offer me water, tea or a glass of wine. The atmosphere is really comfortable as well. read more

Love Tangles, I've been patronizing for a bit over a year. They've made some recent updates to the salon, and it's just beautiful! The chairs and the washbowls are so much better! Jami Garland is amazing. She has such great vision for style and design, knowing what works best for your face and your hair. I drive about an hour each way to see Jami every 5 weeks and would drive farther. She has taken my hair through multiple lengths, colors (including blue, purple, pink, pink & purple, red, natural, highlighted) and she keeps it healthy and me looking fabulous. Nothing against the salon or the person who did my hair but this is an update 2 months after I had the Brazilian blow out treatment. I loved the way my hair felt when it was first done, it was slinky straight. I've shampooed with special Keratin shampoo and conditioner that they recommended and only washed my hair 2-3 times per week as they said to do. I felt my hair got damaged even though it looked good when I would blow dry it. But the treatment severely damaged my hair, causing constant breakage and severe tangling. If I could go back in time I wouldn't have done it. My hair was very healthy before, I was lazy and thought this would help decrease blow drying time and give it more shine. It's a very harsh treatment DON'T do it. read more

Kay is UHmazing!! The previous hair stylist I went to gave me a "balayage," however I left with a brassy, unblended mess. I was lucky enough to come across Kay at a photoshoot and she see could see that my hair needed some TLC. I needed a color correction which involved a mix of colors and treatments - quite the project, but Kay really knew what she was doing! We made great conversation and she explained what she was doing throughout the entire process. The outcome is so great and I can feel confident styling my hair and showing it off again! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and could not recommend Kay enough! read more

I've been getting my hair done by Chrystal for almost a year now & she is amazing. One of my sorority sisters recommended her & I'm forever grateful. She doesn't just do whatever she wants. She listens then makes recommendations based on your wants. In the past I've been to stylists that don't care what you say/want & they do what they think is best. She listens to her clients ! + she is super sweet & great to talk to. The salon is beautiful & in a great area. The service is superb. Right when I walk through the door someone is always there to ask if I want something to drink. Parking is a little tricky though just because it's in downtown Los Gatos. Can I give less than one star? My daughter just got back from this so-called salon. She wanted to bleache her blonde hair white with grey/silver. Not only did the stylist not listen to her wishes, she left her multiple times FOR AN HOUR with no instructions to attend to other customers (who had later appointments). My daughter was forced to blow dry her own hair, and then pay $95 for no noticeable color difference. Unacceptable! By the way, the stylist's name is Teresa, who obviously cares more about how many customers she can squeeze into three hours (3 hours!) than if they leave satisfied. I really feel like she took advantage of a teenager who hadn't had enough experience with service workers to stand up for herself. Very expensive lesson learned. read more

I have been here twice and both stylists gave me a bad haircut. I specifically asked for a stylist that's good at layering long hair. Neither stylist was skilled at current layering techniques. Let me just say, after having my eyebrows waxed off, burned off, tweezed to death and then rubbed raw from threading then this is a place to try. Kim is amazing and pays extra attention to detail. If you have extremely sensitive skin, develop hives, swell and blister, like me, then you should really try the Tangles Salon! I was red after, but only for a little bit. I have not had a bad reaction and that is amazing for my skin!!!! Let's just say that I was so impressed I went further with the waxing and couldn't be happier. This review is for Brandi and the salon it self! Review for Brandi If there is anyone who knows pixie cuts it's brandi. She is amazing! I went from zero to hero with my new look! I love it and if you get anything done with her, she won't let you leave unless you love it! It's very important to her that all of her clients are happy and it's important to me because I feel like she's looking out for me. Let's be real, no one wants to walk around with a bad cut or a ugly color. She won't allow it. Lol. She's easy going, knows great music, and LISTENS. She knew exactly what style I wanted through just getting to know me! She also great with color! I went from jet black with some green to blonde bomb in one shot! People told me it would take forever but because she knew my hair very well, she made it happen! :) I am very happy with her work. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone! How did i chance upon her? Would like to address this review for tangles talented artist Brande. I was referred by a make up artist to Brande when had a make up trial for my wedding. I set up a trial appointment with Brande immediately and was happy to get into her busy sked. She was very sweet to accomodate me on her day off. She was open to my suggestions as to how i want my hair done on my big day. I booked her that night although my wedding was months away. This is the Day!!! Brande was punctual and didnt waste anytime making everyone pretty in my bridal party. There was 11 of us so we had to start early. very thoughtful as well coz she brought champagne and a fruit bowl for us. Not required but greatly appreciated as it served as my breakfast and lunch. Brande did a fantastic job with the hairstyles for my mother-in-law',sisters, cousins, our kids, sissy-in-law, my bestie and of course myself. She indeed got some awesome talent in bridal hairstyling. Everyone looked extremely pretty. I got busy after she did my hairstyle dressing up and didnt thank her enough but she really made me look the most beautiful girl that night. I can't believe how she made me look the way I pictured myself on my wedding day without showing her a picture to copy the look. It was all based on how I described it to her with a few of twists here and there. She was very nice taking care of my sister who had to alter her hairstyle a few based on her comfort level. My sister was harder to deal with believe me. As i browse through the pictures... I am still in awe. I love every angle of my hairstyle and love how my bridal party sparkled that night. I love the atmosphere and the friendly people that work here! The decor and atmosphere is relaxing - they always have a beverage and snacks for you while you wait. I saw Rosanna for several years and loved the way she listened and did my hair. When she moved out of state, I thought about switching to a salon closer to home but decided to try the hairdresser she recommended to me at the salon. I didn't think I could find anyone I liked as much as Rosannab but I've seen Kara Rigo several times now and she doesn't amazing work and I will keep coming to the salon so I can have her do my hair.
