DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT bring your animals here. I brought my 4 month old puppy Shepherd/husky mix here to get her rabies titers test done so she could successfully fly to her owner and be in her forever home. NOT only did they sit an tell me she was "not a dog" and then continuously tell me they guaranteed she was a "coyote" they sent her paperwork with the breed listed as "coyote" and now has put my baby at risk of being euthanized because of their stupidity and assumptions. They also told me multiple times to surrender her ECT. The extremely messed up part is when I filled out her vet visit paperwork I wrote her CORRECT breed "husky/shepherd" and they had the audacity to CHANGE her breed to coyote without my consent and again putting her at risk of being euthanized. I have had my puppy since she was 2 weeks old and I met the parents and also have had her embark tested (4+ breeds came back along with 15% unresolved) NONE WERE COYOTE. Once I saw the titer results I immediately called the lab and they were shocked! The only way to fix this is they VET writing a letting explaining the situation (which they refuse to do knowing the danger it has put my dog in). My pup weighed 30 pounds at her visit (4 months old). I want everyone reading this to google the average adult weight of a female coyote and then judge this review. I plan on taking this way further than a review on yelp and if my puppy gets euthanized the blood will be on YALLS hands. read more

I have been going to Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic since 1993 or 1994 and drive about 35 miles to go there because it's WORTH it! Of course, in a city the size of Houston, there are veterinarians all over town. But Tanglewilde was referred to me and I made an appointment. It only took that first appointment, and I knew then that I wouldn't go anywhere else! Not only have the doctors at Tanglewilde saved lives of my pets over the decades, they have provided them with QUALITY of life. When I have lost pets to old age or disease, the vets and staff at Tanglewilde have always been so kind!! There is nobody anywhere that does it better. My pets love the doctors AND the staff there! I wanted to try out a new vet that was in our area and the reviews looked great. The experience was overall unwelcoming. We had a 10:30 appt and a young man came and put us in a room, and slammed the door on his way out. He didn't introduce himself, or try to familiarize himself with my dog. He came back in after 15 minutes and asked me what symptoms my dog was experiencing. Again, he did not introduce himself to me or my dog. He said he was going to move us into another room. So he did and slammed the door again behind him. They had a call loose in the hall, and the whole time the cat is crying. As we walked by he said the cat doesn't like dogs as she begin hissing at my dog. So he distracted the cat so we could safely make it into the other room. I waited for another 20 minutes since nobody came to check in with us and I walked out. The front staff of 3 were sitting in the front watching tv. I did not feel comfortable leaving my pet in their hands. Since then nobody called me to follow up. I will not be back, and instead I will drive the distance to our original vet. In response to Jessica's message: I was not informed of an emergency because as soon as I sat down nobody came to speak to me. You were not in the room with us so you can not speak on the behalf of what happened, and I do not appreciate you challenging my character. The tv was on as I walked out because I saw it on and the front staff was watching it. Thank you though for responding and proving that your business lies. read more

I recently just got a new puppy and I also just recently moved to the Tanglewilde area and was in search for a new Vet clinic for my girl Winnie. When I initially called here I was annoyed bc I don't feel like the initial phone greeting was polite but thankfully I decided to check it out anyway and to my surprise I met a great staff! I waited maybe five min, filled out my paperwork and Dr. Stone was with me before I knew it. She was so inviting and very eager to meet and care for my Winnie. I really appreciated how sweet and loving she even held my pup because at the end of the day they don't have to "love" your dog just treat him/her. Dr. Stone was very patient with my questions and gave me all the info I needed to make sure I can take the best care of my new puppy. She gave great recommendations and let me know I could always call if I had any questions or if I noticed odd behavior from Winnie. Dr Jessica Killingsworth Parkerson has been my vet now for about 6 yrs or so. I'm so happy and excited for her own venture with Tanglewilde Vet clinic. I probably have one the most difficult cats that any vet has had to deal with. She not only has social problems and anxiety she has the WORST skin problems. Dr Parkerson has always been there to help out with anything. She is great at being very thorough in a situation but also isn't quick to medicate and overdue it. This is one of the things I appreciate most about her care. She explains in detail everything and anything that could be going on with your animal and makes sure you really grasp everything. She alo is how I came to meet my wonderful toy poodle Ms Bebe. The beebs is one of the best things that has ever walked into my life. I would and have recommended many people to her. We had our puppy neutered here even though we live so far from Tanglewilde because a friend had recommended this place because they have decent doctors and the prices are good. The neutering itself was great. My problem comes in with the nightmare of trying to pay for services here. They under-charged my husband for the service while he was at the vet clinic and didn't bother to tell him until he was already halfway home. They tell him it's OK for him to pay the next time we come to the vet clinic (since we live so far). A month later we get a letter in the mail charging us a late fee on top of our due amount for not paying the extra couple of dollars we owe. My husband calls the clinic back, explains what happened, and again reiterates that he'll pay it back the next time he visits (we have another dog and are waiting for her to get old enough to be spayed). They agree and tell him they will remove the late charge and make a note on the account that we'll pay the next time we come in. A second month later, the same thing happens - we get another letter, call them to explain, and again they say they'll make a note and that it is OK to pay the next time we come in. After another month or so, we get ANOTHER letter in the mail indicating that they are "highly disturbed" at our behavior in not paying back the money we owe, and they threaten to send us to a collection agency. By this time we are extremely frustrated. They had clearly told us MULTIPLE times it was OK for us to pay the few dollars we owe when we return the next time with our second dog. My husband calls them AGAIN, and they say they need to talk to someone higher up and will call him back. They don't call him back, so he calls before they close and just pays over the phone. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back to them for future services like we'd originally planned. read more

Dr. Parkerson has maintained the best from Dr. Stiles era and brought her own refreshing style into Tanglewilde. Dr. Parkerson is everything you could hope for in a small animal veterinarian. She is attentive to detail but doesn't get lost in the small things. Dr. Parkerson is well versed in both hard Western veterinary practices and well as Eastern medicine. She has no qualms about referring a pet to another practice for more specialized care when needed. Even when the news is the worst possible, she helps you makes the right decisions for both you and your beloved pet. Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic is a 40 minute drive from my house. I live in a neighborhood with easy access to great vets. But, the drive to Tanglewilde is well worth it. I know my babies will receive the best care available in Houston. read more

I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Parkerson for 6 or 7 years. I even followed her to this practice when she bought it maybe 3 years ago? I don't remember when it was. She is great with my dogs and everyone at the practice is very helpful and caring. I feel like she is knowledgeable about a lot of different breeds. She knew a lot of specific things about my breed of dog (Shih-Tzu) that I only knew because I've read a lot about the breed. I highly recommend her! read more

I recently took my 2 year old black lab here for a cough that she had, and I can say that everyone at the clinic was incredibly friendly to me and my dog. Dr. Parkerson and the assistant Joseph were wonderful with her. I felt like they cared what was going on with my dog, and were very informative in answering my questions. I also think it is pretty cool that they have alternative forms of treatment for dogs, since there are apparently very few vets in the Houston area that perform Eastern medicine. read more

There are so many ways I can review this place to be the best. First of all, I have been to the Voss Road Animal Clinic and also the West Alabama animal clinic. Do I treat my cats well? I don't know how not to. BUT This is absolutely top notch in my review of any pet/vet place I have ever been to. I adopted a dog this week and was given a vet list from the animal shelter for a free exam. I went by a few clinics, who were cold, and they seemed uninterested in handling my adoptee (in bad shape). I called this clinic and got Taylor, and he was beyond pleasant. He even asked me to bring my pup that day which I know is very rare. Upon arrival, every staff member showed compassion for my baby also Taylor remembered speaking to me. The doctor was so knowledgeable and she educates the owner; however, when she kissed my smelly baby I knew that she genuinely loves her job. I will write a review if I either had a great experience or a horrible one. Unfortunately this is of the latter. Unfortunately again, this review is being written because of the receptionist that picked up my phone call regarding possible post operative side effects to my tiny Yorkie puppy. I took my puppy in for a puppy exam and second serious of vaccinations on Aug 22. The vet was very nice and pleasant. The problem was the way the receptionist handled my post op concerns. My puppy has never had any kind of whooping cough, wheezing etc since I bought her. This was over a month or so. My pup starts having classic signs of kennel cough within a week of her vaccines, including bordetella... bingo. I called and gave a short narrative of what was happening. Lady on the phone asks if I'd like to come in. I say not if I don't need to. She then says that she can't disclose any info on the phone. Fine, no problem. I ask if there would be a charge for this follow up visit. She says yes, be prepared to pay. I tell her that my pup has NEVER displayed these symptoms since I got her. I tell her how long ago I got her - one month- she flat out says it could still be something she had prior to her visit. No compassion whatsoever. I tell her this is disturbing because of the timing of the coughing symptoms within a week after service. She argues back that I should still be prepared to pay. After expressing my discontent with her customer service does she say that she would have the vet call me back. Here is the saddest past. I'm a dentist. I take care of people. My practice and office philosophy is patient care and my staff knows this. If I provide service to a patient and the service was done recently... a week, let's say.. I don't care what post op symptoms they're describing. They are asked to come in if possible just as a courtesy follow up. No charge. Post op instructions are given to the patient verbally and in writing prior to patient dismissal. Patients are urged to call if they have any side effect, complication, concerns etc. Ok, some may say vets don't treat people and maybe have a different standard of care. I completely disagree. I entrusted my little bundle of joy in their hands. The vet has great hands, the receptionist most definitely not. What this office needs is a revisiting of practice philosophy. Take care of your darn patrons. Or I guess charge them for what they've got. read more

Dr. Parkerson has been our vet for about 5 years and we are SO excited join her in her new practice. Don't get me wrong the other place was fine, but it was Dr. Parkerson who made the difference. I have to admit, I get more worked up than dog or the cat, and she answers my hundreds of questions with a demeanor that puts me at ease. One stand out comment I can make is that she doesn't over dramatize situations or suggest a battery of tests before she has a clear direction to take with treatment - she is realistic, honest and genuine. We just started taking our fur babies to this veterinary and we absolutely love it! The last occasion was due to an emergency that dealt with worms-that we had no idea how to handle, the clinic gave us an appointment immediately and answered every possible question we could of had. We have 3 dogs and they have been extremely helpful and understanding of the chaos at times when we have appointments and have been beyond patient with our million questions and concerns. The staff has always gone above and beyond at each appointment and anytime I've called with an issue we weren't sure how to handle, the staff has always answered and guided us through the issue. I have received monthly reminders-through the most adorable mailed post cards - for each dog on when their next medicine is due. I couldn't be happier with the clinic and the entire staff! read more

I was very disappointed when I learned Dr. Stiles had sold her practice because she had been so good with my two wonderful little rescue doxies ... however, after visiting with Dr. Parkerson I discovered that she is incredible and has such a caring manner in dealing with my pups, now three wonderful little doxies!. It's difficult to visualize the posts indicating she is anything but involved and compassionate when treating her patients. There is one front desk employee who is less that top quality. I have learned to live with her, but she could be a turn-off to a new customer which would be unfortunate ... she's not bad enough to offset the quality services of Dr. Parkerson.
