I loved this place. I went for empanadas and grabbed some alfajores too. The place is immaculate and inviting. The guys at counter are flawless, professional and friendly. The food is amazing. Flavors, variety and portion size. Easy street parking, might be a short walk but not difficult to park. Overall a fantastic place. Ill visit every time I am in DC area!

I thought the menu of small baked goods at this Argentinian shop was worth a shot. H Street is not the easiest area to park in, but I managed to get in and out reasonably quickly with a handful of interesting looking pastries and one savory item. I shared them with others, so I can only say secondhand that they were well-received. The other menu options for fresh food at this place didn't appeal to me and the menu was not huge, but I'm always happy to see something new.

Awesome spot I stopped at while walking on H street. Cool interior with great empanadas. Service was very good and friendly. I got a pork empanada it was right and tender well session with fried onions. Pastry was nice and fluffy. Well cooked was very filling. I will definitely be back.

Tango Bakery is a welcome addition to H Street NE. Open Wednesday-Friday from 7am to 5pm and 8am-5pm on weekends, it's a space that serves Latin American pastries to empanadas and coffee. Popping in on a Wednesday morning, here's my experience. 1) Food: The beef empanada and the ham and cheese one were good. My favorite is the beef with the green chimichurri sauce along the condiment bar. (There are three kinds of sauce. Be careful as the bottles are oily.) 2) Drinks: My dulce de leche latte was great! It comes with a large swirl of the leche to mix into the drink making it the right sweetness. 3) Service: The man behind the corner was friendly and attentive. Despite other customers, the wait wasn't long for my latte and empanadas warmed up. 4) Space: It's one room with different places to sit. It's a cozy spot to sit for awhile.

I loved everything about this place. It's in a vibrant location. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in better homes and garden magazine. The service was great and friendly, we tried all of the empanadas and our favorite were the spinach, and the special which was corn and cheese. Can't go wrong with the ham and cheese empanadas either. I also got a Ferraro Rocher latte. Can't wait to come back and try all their other pastry goodies.

Came here for the empanadas and they did not disappoint. At $8 a pop, you're sure to get filled with 1, 2, and certainly 3. Service was kind, the cash register greeted in Spanish and continued speeding in Spanish which gave me a reason to practice mine! The space was nice, clean, comfy with just a wee touch of bougie to feel very like DC but not too much if that makes sense lol. Would come back again!

We stopped by this spot on H Street while looking for a new local coffee shop to try -- it looked really cool and inviting! I ordered a mocha latte, but unfortunately, it was just okay. I was expecting something bolder and stronger, especially from a Latin-style coffee, but it didn't quite hit the mark. On the bright side, the beef empanadas were delicious! The service was good, and I'm glad to support a local business, but I was hoping for a better coffee experience overall.

I recently stopped by this cafe on H Street because I was craving empanadas. These are Argentinian-style empanadas. I tried the beef and olive with the chimichurri dipping sauce as well as one of the pastries stuffed with pastry cream. I thought the empanada was nicely baked and generously filled. I got there late in the afternoon, so I think the chimichurri was just down to its dregs, but that's on me for coming so close to close! I enjoyed the sweet pastry - I've never had this style before, so I can't give any reference point for how it's supposed to be. It was softer and doughier than a croissant, and next time I'll be curious to try the membrillo filling or the flan. I would give the food a solid 3/5 on flavor, and I do think it's overpriced for what you get ($8 for 1 empanada is definitely on the high side), but the service was great and I really appreciated the recommendations! It was a cozy place to hang gout, talk, or work, and I think I'll definitely come back for a coffee and a pastry again. More of a 3.5, but rounding up because I really liked the comfortable coffee shop vibe, welcoming service, and wide range of options on the menu. I don't think I'd return for the empanadas, but overall I'm glad I stopped by!

Food 9.5/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance 9.5/10 This place is so lovely! As I walked in I was immediately greeted and offered a sample of the membrillo pastries and the medialunas, both of which were great. I went for the chicken empanada, which was large, the cream pastry, and an americano. All three were 17 dollars, which was a great price for their size and quality! The empanada was a 11/10 (I had it with the chimichurri) and the pastry was a 9/10! Everything was delicious, the staff was wonderful, and I learned that they only opened in April! I will definitely be back! The photo is of my half drunk Americano because everything was so delicious I already ate it! (The Americano was also excellent)

I paired this with ROASTED STRAWBERRY. They literally roast the strawberries before adding to the gelato. It tastes like real strawberries! It was phenominal, and my favorite of the two if I had to pick. My daughter ordered the PISTACHIO falvor, a traditional gelato offering. It was extra dense while creamy delicious. I sampled the OLIVE OIL soft serve. It tasted predominantly like vanilla. I wouldn't order this one. Expect a long line coming out of the storefront. It moves reasonably quick and is worth the wait! A short jaunt the hotel and squarely in downtown, it's an all things cobbler themed spot. Kids got Mac and cheese with meat, plus a mini cobbler, and my better half and I shared a "biscuit cobbler" - which was effectively a delicious biscuit over top a thick soup. It was solidly in the pretty good category. A little cold in the middle but it filled me up. The biscuits were excellent - like Bojangles good (Biscuit connoisseurs will feel that!). The Mac and cheese was good and the cobblers were solid. The mini cobbler was like $2 and came as part of a combo. Get that - enough to get a good taste, but not massive. The banana pudding (the bourbon walnut specifically) was the show stopper for me. I'm sure it's gonna box, but it was really good! The woman helping us was very nice and got us served and fed quickly. Not an every day spot, but an, I'm walking by and feeling like dessert at 2 pm sort of spot for sure!

A freezer held a wide selection of gelato pints, including some flavors not available in the display case. I appreciated that even the small cup could be split into two flavors. Deeper into the shop, there was also a dessert case and a menu for coffee drinks. *Toasted Almond: intensely nutty and very forward in flavor. It tasted almost exactly like almond extract in the best way. One of my favorite nut based gelato flavors I have had. *Vanilla: similarly bold, with a rich and pronounced vanilla flavor. A sweeter take on a classic, but still very satisfying. *Green Tea: well executed with a clear earthiness. It was not overly sweet or milky, making it a solid and above average version. *Cherry Blossom: a seasonal flavor that could have easily felt gimmicky, but was handled well. It reminded me of a lighter lavender honey profile, not overly fragrant or sweet. It tasted natural and paired nicely with creamier flavors. *Espresso: true to its name, though slightly sweeter than expected. It was the least sweet of the group but did not stand out as particularly bold or aromatic. *Honey Mascarpone Fig: my favorite of everything I tried. The mascarpone added a slight tang and depth, while the honey and fig brought a soft, almost jammy sweetness. This was the most balanced flavor and would pair well with many others. While they do not offer as many flavors as some dessert shops, the quality across the board makes up for it. The execution is strong enough that it does not rely on gimmicks, and I would definitely return to try more of their seasonal offerings.
