Delicious drip coffee and great service. My friend had a spinach and cheese empanada which they loved. The empanadas are HUGE. I'll def be back for the chorizo chimichurri. I wish they were kinder on the wallet at $8 per empanada but this Argentinian bakery is a welcome addition to H st. The sweet pastries range from about $3 to $4 so great options for all! The dulce de leche latte Special looks divine as well. Barista was so seeet and answered all my questions. She even gave me a refill of drip coffee! Great ambiance and decor we were happy to spend the afternoon here!

I thought the menu of small baked goods at this Argentinian shop was worth a shot. H Street is not the easiest area to park in, but I managed to get in and out reasonably quickly with a handful of interesting looking pastries and one savory item. I shared them with others, so I can only say secondhand that they were well-received. The other menu options for fresh food at this place didn't appeal to me and the menu was not huge, but I'm always happy to see something new.

Awesome spot I stopped at while walking on H street. Cool interior with great empanadas. Service was very good and friendly. I got a pork empanada it was right and tender well session with fried onions. Pastry was nice and fluffy. Well cooked was very filling. I will definitely be back.

Tango Bakery is a welcome addition to H Street NE. Open Wednesday-Friday from 7am to 5pm and 8am-5pm on weekends, it's a space that serves Latin American pastries to empanadas and coffee. Popping in on a Wednesday morning, here's my experience. 1) Food: The beef empanada and the ham and cheese one were good. My favorite is the beef with the green chimichurri sauce along the condiment bar. (There are three kinds of sauce. Be careful as the bottles are oily.) 2) Drinks: My dulce de leche latte was great! It comes with a large swirl of the leche to mix into the drink making it the right sweetness. 3) Service: The man behind the corner was friendly and attentive. Despite other customers, the wait wasn't long for my latte and empanadas warmed up. 4) Space: It's one room with different places to sit. It's a cozy spot to sit for awhile.

I loved everything about this place. It's in a vibrant location. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in better homes and garden magazine. The service was great and friendly, we tried all of the empanadas and our favorite were the spinach, and the special which was corn and cheese. Can't go wrong with the ham and cheese empanadas either. I also got a Ferraro Rocher latte. Can't wait to come back and try all their other pastry goodies.

Came here for the empanadas and they did not disappoint. At $8 a pop, you're sure to get filled with 1, 2, and certainly 3. Service was kind, the cash register greeted in Spanish and continued speeding in Spanish which gave me a reason to practice mine! The space was nice, clean, comfy with just a wee touch of bougie to feel very like DC but not too much if that makes sense lol. Would come back again!

We stopped by this spot on H Street while looking for a new local coffee shop to try -- it looked really cool and inviting! I ordered a mocha latte, but unfortunately, it was just okay. I was expecting something bolder and stronger, especially from a Latin-style coffee, but it didn't quite hit the mark. On the bright side, the beef empanadas were delicious! The service was good, and I'm glad to support a local business, but I was hoping for a better coffee experience overall.

I recently stopped by this cafe on H Street because I was craving empanadas. These are Argentinian-style empanadas. I tried the beef and olive with the chimichurri dipping sauce as well as one of the pastries stuffed with pastry cream. I thought the empanada was nicely baked and generously filled. I got there late in the afternoon, so I think the chimichurri was just down to its dregs, but that's on me for coming so close to close! I enjoyed the sweet pastry - I've never had this style before, so I can't give any reference point for how it's supposed to be. It was softer and doughier than a croissant, and next time I'll be curious to try the membrillo filling or the flan. I would give the food a solid 3/5 on flavor, and I do think it's overpriced for what you get ($8 for 1 empanada is definitely on the high side), but the service was great and I really appreciated the recommendations! It was a cozy place to hang gout, talk, or work, and I think I'll definitely come back for a coffee and a pastry again. More of a 3.5, but rounding up because I really liked the comfortable coffee shop vibe, welcoming service, and wide range of options on the menu. I don't think I'd return for the empanadas, but overall I'm glad I stopped by!

Food 9.5/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance 9.5/10 This place is so lovely! As I walked in I was immediately greeted and offered a sample of the membrillo pastries and the medialunas, both of which were great. I went for the chicken empanada, which was large, the cream pastry, and an americano. All three were 17 dollars, which was a great price for their size and quality! The empanada was a 11/10 (I had it with the chimichurri) and the pastry was a 9/10! Everything was delicious, the staff was wonderful, and I learned that they only opened in April! I will definitely be back! The photo is of my half drunk Americano because everything was so delicious I already ate it! (The Americano was also excellent)

Was excited to have pastries I grew up with. Found the ones here to be very expensive and pretty stale, unfortunately.

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

All the pastry was delightfully flaky and appropriately filled. Pistachio croissant was dancing on the edge of being a bit too sweet but went very well with my latte. Latte and cappuccino were nothing to write home about, potentially underextracted as there wasn't too much flavor coming through. Totally inoffensive and wouldn't hesitate to get another espresso drink if we were grabbing pastries again. Nice quaint limited outdoor seating. Had a nice chat while we demolished our goods right out front. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that knows how to move the line quickly!

I'm on a kick with trying new whole grains, wheat berries, etc. so this bakery was calling my name. I also loved that they offered some unique pastries that I hadn't seen elsewhere. We ended up picking out four of their pastries and coffee drinks to have breakfast on-site as a family. In our typical tradition, we cut everything into fourths and the whole family tries every pastry (everyone wins... ;). We thoroughly enjoyed both the savory and sweet (chocolate) options. I could see how this would be an acquired taste for some. I loved being able to peak into the kitchen to see the big oven and where all the magic happens. I also appreciated their sweet neighborhood location and the big windows offering lots of natural light. Overall, a positive and tasty experience.
