My favorite place at Tropicana to have drinks, relax, and see a band. We usually spend our time at the bar and have a nice view of the traffic in the casino. They have a lounge area with comfy couches and tables for more of a personable experience. The drinks are affordable and take advantage of their happy hour. We usually hang out during the late afternoons, that's when the crowd is manageable and tolerable. However, on Friday nights into the weekends, it gets really noisy and it's popping if you are into that kind of bar scene. Tropicana has some great bars, but this is my favorite considering its within the center of everything if your staying at the Havana Tower and plan on having dinner at some of the popular restaurants. Bar: Okay experience, overall. Security: Awful experience....ruined it all for me. For starters, we were told completely wrong by a security guard first. He told us there was no cover charge, but we got to the front of the line and were told the cover was $5/person....which is fine, but we had just waited in line thinking we were good to go! Learning this, we were directed to an ATM close by in the casino to get cash for the cover and did the line thing all over again. Okay, fine. Immediately after paying the cover and getting in, the live band quit playing. Just saying, this would have been nice to know because we came for the band! However, we learned a DJ was setting up. Okay, fine. They had a bucket of beer special, which was pretty reasonably priced (5 bottles for $25). The bartender was pretty nice and quick. Okay, great. After being in the bar for close to an hour and a half, dancing on the dance floor, having a great time, we were joined by three girls who seemed pretty fun! Shortly after their arrival, my friend was abruptly grabbed by a security officer who demanded all three of our IDs. Okay, ask for our ID but please keep your hands off... Strike one. After showing our IDs for the second time (first being when we were let in the bar, initially), we were asked for them again. Okay, fine, but what is different now than the first two times you looked at them? Strike two. From here, we were asked where our wristbands were. Fair question, but what wristbands? We were never given wristbands? To which one security officer replies "we have you on camera giving your wristbands to those three girls". ~what. an. actual. joke.~ ...and resorting to intimidation strategies to get us to confess to giving away wristbands we never even had?? Strike three, four, five, six....ugh. Might I add that during the time we are getting bombarded and intimidated by the security guards, the three girls who were apparently under age had scrammed; no where to be seen! And apparently we knew where they went? Nice try. I still wonder why the girls weren't questioned or asked to show their ID again?? Another strike. Back to the fact that the security guard resorts to our apparent misconduct being caught on camera.....My friend assertively suggested that they go check that camera and tell us what they find because that's not the case at all. It was almost laughable! I don't want to play the "young women" card, but is this why this was said to us? We didn't budge, though, so better luck next time. After the security guard who initially told us there was no cover charge stuck up for us (with a gentle suggestion that he knows better) by saying we were never given wristbands, we were finally told to get the bands from the woman at the entrance who neglected to do so initially, and we were sent on our way. Little do they know, my friends and I are not going to give money to or spend time at a place that falsely accuses us of smuggling underage girls in and lets them run free while badgering us! We got out of there and moved on to the next place! Maybe I just had a bad experience, maybe the security shouldn't represent an establishment....maybe give it a shot and make the call for yourself. Nonetheless, I can confidently say I would not return, but to each their own! read more

My last night in AC was great. Whenever I go to AC I always stay at the TROP. I love this hotel because I never have to leave to have fun. Last night I decided to visit Tango's and quite honestly I'm glad that I did. First off they had live music, which was great, it drew me in. The singer was great, and it seemed as everyone was having a good time, so I gave it a shot. It's a nice size bar, it wasn't too overcrowded but there was no seats at the bar. I waited for a few mins and then a seat became available. I immediately was greeted by the bartender. I didn't order a fancy drink, just wine and it was good lol. The bartender and patrons were all friendly. Everyone there was truly enjoying themselves. As I mentioned I always stay at the TROP, however this was my first time in TANGOS. Came here for a bachelorette party staying at the trop. We originally were going to go to boogies, but a freak blackout put boogies out of commission. Tangos did a great job pinch hitting! They played so much funk and disco and old school fun dance music. We danced for hours. A warning to the ladies, though: some of the gentlemen guests aren't familiar with the term "personal space." So be on your guard. Some of the men were very sweet, but some were kind of disgusting chauvinists. That doesn't reflect on tangos, but it's something to know about the ecosystem of ac nightlife. Went once with my boyfriend and last week with friends. Great prices on drinks and definitely not watered down. I went both times on a Fri night and it usually gets packed between 9-1am. Last thur night they had a band playing some good tunes. They have tables and chairs all around. You don't have to pay for bottle service in order to sit which is great. No dress code so that's a plus of you want to just sit and listen to music. It was a great time and worth coming in. read more

Arrived at Tangos and just after walking in prior to the cover charge i received a call from my son. My friends stayed at the bar and i exited the way I entered so I could hear my son on the phone. I was never stopped and told to get a stamp to be able to return to the bar. When my call was done I came back to the entrance to return to my friends when a rude African american security guard stopped me and told me i could not enter without paying a cover charge. My jacket was in the club already on the chair but no matter. I was forced to pay the cover and had my purse checked while the rude security guard turns to the African American woman at the register and she shrugs her shoulders and does not admit she saw me enter 5 min ago. I was never told to get a stamp upon exiting and was treated rudely while trying to re enter. Other customers who were also exiting were let back in with no cover. They were African American. When it comes to customer service your staff needs a course in how to treat your customers fairly. No matter what your skin color. read more

We went to Tango's on a Saturday night because all the other clubs in The Quarter in Tropicana were charging $20-$25 cover charge and Tango was charging just $5. You get what you pay for. The music was good. My mom ordered a Malibu and pineapple and my mother in law stuck to beers. The waitress Carmen said the drinks were $10, which is the norm in AC. The drink they made for my mom however, was pure pineapple juice. She passed it around the table- out of four people no one could taste the alcohol. You could even tell by how dark yellow the drink was that it was pure juice. I politely brought it to a bartender and his response was "I didn't make it. You have to go to the person who made it." Nice. I bartended for 12 years- never ever told a customer that. So I find the bartender who made the drink and he says no problem. My mom ordered a second drink from the waitress and told her "make sure it's correct because the last one wasn't". The waitress comes and drops a cup of water on the table at my mom- aka- pace yourself you're drunk. After one drink. No one asked for water why would you bring a cup. Then she sent another waitress to our table instead of coming back. When we got the tab, one of my moms drinks was $10 and the other two were $12 with "rocks upcharge" underneath. I asked the waitress why the discrepancy and she said "she ordered them on the rocks" Um. No she didn't I was sitting right there. She asked for Malibu with a splash of pineapple. She replied "yea that's on the rocks" Again. No it's not. On the rocks is on the rocks. When I told her that she said "oh yea?" in a patronizing tone. Bottom line- they upcharged because we complained the drink was weak and because she thought my mom was drunk. If there is an upcharge for a drink- tell the customer, it shouldn't be a surprise on the bill. read more

Fun, fun, fun! And so much better than paying a cover to one of the clubs at the hotel. We came here after attempting to pay to get into Boogie Nights- $15 and empty inside...I think not. You'll hear the music from this lounge as you are passing by. It's hip, it makes you want to dance and it's a cool mix of all types of people. The drinks are casino prices and they don't exactly have a dance area, but if you are there for a bachelorette party like my friends and I and many others that make the trek to AC, you'll find the space to dance. My only major disappointment was the time that they shut the party down....I mean this is a 24 hour casino, why is the party shutting down so early. Oh well, we ended up hopping into a cab to Harrah's where they know how to keep a late night party going. read more

Great experience at this place. Excellent service with the young lady who served our table. She made my wife and I feel like VIP's of the hotel. Comfortable, cozy, friendly, classy and cool setting for a lounge within the casino. The drinks were outstanding and they provided a tasty pretzel mix snack at no extra cost.Then the icing on the cake was the live entertainment by a great 8 piece band called Funk Daddy. This band brought an energy level unlike I've seen from many top name touring acts. The lead singer was on his A game, surrounded by incredibly powerful harmonies and tight/pro arrangements. All heads turned when the lead singer left the small stage area to start dancing in the middle of the dance floor. It was all so entertaining and a fun spot. Went with a group on a Friday night to celebrate my cousin's fiancé' bachelorette party. The cover charge was $5. The drinks were overpriced, under poured and just plain gross. Seriously, who doesn't know how to make a margarita?! I ended up taking a few shots of patron to help turn things up. The DJ played a mix of old and new hip-hop, pop and Latin music. I liked the place. Good drinks, centrally located by the fountain so very easy to find. But the live entertainment was sooo loud that it made drinking here unbearable. And to add to this the lady running the show singing thru her karaoke machine was unbearable to listen to. I myself prefer live singers and entertainers over just music in the background and one always gives room before judging due to what they have to work with. But this lady was just off - on all levels. Plus the casino smoking section is right next to Tango's so you're hit with all that beautiful smoke in the air. Real nice. Seriously the entertainment was waaaaay too loud and not very entertaining. Next time, we'll pass. read more

Amazing service, great live band . So many hype older ladies smiling ear to ear dominating the dance floor. My husband, who is 29 got out there and danced with them all. The singer is interactive and the seating is intimate and comfortable. If I'm hotness in tangos I'm playing the slots very near by for the music. Love the trop and love tangos. read more

Maybe a beverage manager should take note of this review. You have dishonest bartenders who are stealing from you. 2 days after my visit here on a Friday night I received a notification from my credit card company questioning my 63% tip. Our first round of drinks were 16 bucks. I had another beer that brought the bill to 22. Service was less than stellar and I left a 4 dollar tip on the 22 for a total of 26 and filled out the credit card recipient. The first 16 dollar tab was also sitting there untouched when we left. One of the bartenders took the 16 dollar recipient and added 10 dollar tip to bring the total to the same amount 26 bucks. So instead of the 4 dollar tip I actually left they changed it to 10 dollar tip. Probably assuming I would never know because the bottom line was still the same. I have my receipt at home and double checked it when I received the email from credit card company. The dishonesty bothers me to no end, I would be more upset if someone changed the total amount. If you're paying with credit card you better check your bill. Beyond that the band wasn't bad, service underwhelming. Way too overcrowded with an older crowd doing the pickup game. Had been here years ago and it was a more upscale feel, that's long gone. read more
