Newly opened and doing quite well...! We arrived for lunch at noon to an empty restaurant, but by 115 it was jumping on a hot summer day. *Sparkly Lemonade s *Egg Salad sandwich with sprouts + chips on bloomy grain bread *Starter rocket salad - super fresh. *Butterscotch Tart + creme A very solid lunch. The Butterscotch Tart was a bit of a letdown at the end, not terribly exciting, but surely a nice try. I had a taste of the neopolitan parfait which was frozen -- could've also used some "oomph" to spice things up. The egg salad sandwich was a delight, as was the salad. All very fresh. The real shining star was our server. Some of the best service I've had in London, we lucked out. I wish I'd gotten his name. Very attentive, helpful with recommendations. It's an entire restaurant themed around "gymnasium." Done quite well, but somewhat of an odd theme. It does lend itself well to the playful menu, and a light/casual atmosphere. Some very nice long group tables as well that can easily sit up to nearly 16, I'd guess. Will surely return -- wonderful lunch and once they kick those desserts into high gear, this place is 5 stars, surely.

    Hmmmm hangover food

we came in here for hangover food on the way to get the rain back upt North Laden with rucksacks we flumped down and gawped about. Absolutely love the gym equipment and old school feel to this place. finally something a little different. The food was great, if a little long to arrive (did i mention how hungover we were? very) and there was a bit of an annoyance of 3 out 4 meals arriving together and then having to wait for the fourth. I don't like that. Sorted us out for a long trip home.

    Bacon and smoked cheese burger

Came here on a Thursday night after work. This place looks great from the outside with their courtyard decorated in multicoloured globe lights. On the inside the restaurant has a nautical theme. We started with cocktails. They were delicious! I ordered the bacon and smoked cheese burger for my main. The waitress made a point that it is served medium so I was disappointed when it came well done! It was still really tasty though. The reason I'm only giving this place three stars is because the service wasn't great. They had another event on in the restaurant and we got neglected. When sitting down the waiter failed to bring enough glasses for our water. We eventually had to go up and get our own. It took ages for our wine to come and the bill also took a while to arrive. The food was good. For this reason I'd go back and give it another go!

Busy considering it's not 5 pm

Quick to seat considering it was quite busy. A bit loud and lively so not for the quiet minded. Drinks are average price for the area but great mixers selection. Good menu, friendly staff. Got starter in 15 minutes - main shortly after. I had steak and it was cooked perfect just a bit under temperature for me. Otherwise a good all rounder if you are London Bridge way.

Cool vintage typewriters on the bar top!

The restaurant is in a cute little spot with a few other restaurants. Great vibe with indoor and some outdoor seating The fresh fish and wine pairings are outstanding. We started with sea scallops which melted in your mouth. So good! Then we got a bottle of white wine with fish pairings (they had 8 local options the night we visited). I had the sea bass, and my husband had the trout. So good that I picked that sea bass apart all the way to the bone, which is saying a lot given that it was a very meaty, generous portion already. I tasted the trout, and it was equally amazing. Very impressive and fresh! I wish we could've actually tried some dessert because others around us looked very happy, but we were so full it didn't make sense. If you like fish, go out of your way and stop here! I was craving the Maldon Rock oysters and loved the vibe here. The presentation of all their dishes is beautiful art. Did you see the oyster picture???? I had the St Austell mussels and the cream sauce is spectacular like melted goodness dripping in each taste. Who would think almonds could be paired with mussels???!!! Ooeemmggee. I almost went with the rum baba dessert. But the lemon verbena panna cotta is superb with the delicate white chocolate and pistachio crumbles. Come sit here. Be at peace with whatever. The space itself is beautiful decorated - some trendy wall paper paired with warm wood tones. Its inviting, cozy, has a very pretty bar. We were seated in the main dining room where the manager explained to us that the Brigade is a social enterprise. Meaning, they help to employ and educate members of the homeless community in London so that they can lift themselves out of poverty and enter into the food/bev industry. Great food with a great cause, SIGN ME UP! On to the food - it was VERY good. We ordered two local beers. I loved mine, it was a mead style that wasn't too sweet, but perfect to wash down all the noms. We started with sourdough bread. This was perfectly toasted and paired with butter topped with crystalized salt. YUM. We also had roasted bone marrow and the cornish rump of beef. The bone marrow was good but it was the beef that really blew me away. Brigade uses local London ingredients and this beef was no exception. It was perfectly cooked to rare and I enjoyed every bite. We also got a side of chips, because carbs are life. These chips were SO GOOD. Admittedly, we came to Brigade because we saw a photo on Yelp with fish and chips, which they no longer serve. So happy we ended up here to explore the menu, as a meal filled with carbs and beef is always on my favorites list, and it was no different here. Service was super friendly, and we ended up getting a discount on the bill because they had a promotion going on in November. Double win!

Before I go on, I have to thank the staff for allowing us to be seated because the restaurant was fully booked yet they managed to squeeze us in. The steak was tender, rich, and slow-cooked to perfection, packed with deep, savory flavor from the ale. Every bite was hearty and comforting -- exactly what you want when you're in London. The gravy was silky and robust, perfect for dipping those thick-cut chips, which were golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It also came with fresh greens, roasted tomatoes, and crispy onion rings that added great texture and balance to the dish. You can tell this is proper pub food done right -- no shortcuts, just bold, satisfying flavor. If you're looking for a classic, filling English meal that absolutely delivers, this is it.
