I had high hopes for Tanner's based on google and yelp reviews. I found my experience to err on the interesting side as the dishes I ordered were unexpected. The roasted Brussel sprouts were covered, literally smothered in bacon bits and feta. The sprouts were fried beyond crispy. If you like your sprouts super charred and buried under bacon, this dish is for you. I, however, would have preferred my sprouts less burnt and far less toppings. The French dip was shockingly NOT a salt bomb - which was a pleasant surprise. It's the first time I've had a French dip where I actually wanted to dip it in the side of au jus to give it a flavor bump. The real gem is Tanner's amazing selection of sides to choose from - you can swap in a twice baked potato, kettle chips with French onion dip, steamed broccoli, grilled asparagus or potato salad! Any other place would up-charge but Tanner's doesn't. I chose grilled asparagus and appreciated the separate packaging so the sandwich didn't get soggy. I would come back and try other dishes as the menu is quite large. read more

Was here from out of town for work. They were across the way from my hotel and menu looked decent. Service was ok, the place itself was awesome I can see it being a great time during summer. But the food was awful. The chili tasted like it was in a crock pot for 2+ weeks and had a thick hard top crust like it was sitting forever and they just scooped it right into the cup. Garlic parm wings is what I ordered. I should have definitely avoided the sauce, I had to ask for side plate because the wings were soggy from sitting in the deep puddle of sauce. I really wanted to like the place but food was far from enjoyable. Diet Coke was the star of the show. read more

Wings on Mondays. $12.50 for 1 pound of real wings (and not them little bitty ones either) and fries. I skipped the fries, so won't speak to those, but was allowed to add a salad for $5, kinda crappy trying to not waste food. Lost a star for this. But the wings. Oh the wings. Standard Buffalo Hot Wings. Hot by most standards, I've been done for a solid 10 minutes and my lips are still tingling. I'm happy, this ranks in the top 2 places in the nation as far as I'm concerned for wings. Cooked to perfection crispy on the outside, tender and hot on the inside, none of that undercooked weirdness you get at some places. My bartender was perfectly attentive, very polite and my cup was never left wanting. It's a sports bar with a bags and indoor volleyball and basketball. Every time my business partner and I go to Appleton, we go to Tanner's at least once, if not three times. I am a creature of habit and enjoy the baby pike basket each time. I also enjoy their chili. By far a much better choice than any other restaurant in the area. If you want a 5-Star meal at a Bar and Grill this is the place. We have been here several times and not been disappointed. Came in late on a Monday after a really long day. Sat at the bar and was greeted immediately with a smile and able to place a drink order. The bartender gave me some pointers on the menu and also what the favorites are for customers. I ordered the French dip and wing special. First off huge portions so way to much food but the prices were very fair. The wings were nice size, cooked perfectly and loved their Buffalo sauce (kinda like Frank's). The wings also came with an obscene amount of delicious fries. The French dip was awesome. Shaved prime rib with mozzarella cheese, mushrooms and peppers. It was very similar to a cheesesteak. Taco Two-sday was fun. We watched people play volleyball and snacked. The atmosphere is relaxing and the waitresses was pleasant and attentive. The brisket is a solid offering, and the portions were generous. Personally I would like to see cheddar, slaw and a spicy BBQ sauce on that taco. Our favorite taco was the Mahi. We really liked that it's grilled and not breaded and deep fried. The wings are good. The chicken itself was not fatty. There weren't any broken wings. The wing sizes were bigger than B-dubs. The best part was the cook on the wings. They were hot, juicy, and thoroughly cooked. I would like more sauce offerings, especially something Thai or something really spicy. This place is apparently THE place to go in town and now I know why. It's a bar and grill. Loud music, fun friendly staff, great food and things to do! I had cheese curds because... Wisconsin. The food is okay. Everything in Wisconsin is mostly deep fried, creamy, or over processed. I've had good food in this state but this place is just another bar. They come a dime a dozen here. The service is okay. As a person of color they do look at you funny so I suggest avoiding this place if that makes you uncomfortable. There isn't much to do in the area so plan to go a distance if you want to do something fun. The closest places to enjoy some sort of fun is either Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, or maybe even Fox River Valley. The ambiance is the typical setup with a bit of life which includes some lights. The positive side is that there is a huge parking lot. It does get crowded sometimes. I travel around the world and I've been here twice. I just came here a few times because my ex husband lives down the street and used to work here and raved about it. I didn't receive the best service and there aren't a variety of healthy options. The food was pretty good and had a nice selection of appetizers to choose from as well. The drink selection wasn't that big and no drink menu but if you're looking for beer in a small-ish Wisconsin bar, they likely have anything you're looking for anyways! The only real complaint I have is that the place was not busy and our waitress was busy talking to her friend behind the bar so I had to walk up to get a refill on drinks. But after that she was at our table checking on us more frequently than necessary even. Overall she was great in the end. What a place! Fire menu, solid business, and tons of extra activities. They have a pool and good bands in the summer. They also have corn hole and other fun activities. They have a full indoor gym for basketball, volleyball, etc. The food is great. I always go with the Nashville chicken sandwich which is a 10/10. read more

Tanners is a pretty nice spot. They have allot of options available by the pool If you are into games. They host cornhole tournaments. Pool volleyball and have live music. I must say - I walked to this place from the hotel on a Tuesday and the front and back large lots were full with folks even parking on the neighborhood street nearby. From the first look at the outside of the building it didn't make sense until I walked in. It's like 3 completely different restaurants in one. The first restaurant area is a turn to a right door entrance that includes a full size gym. There were local teams playing games and a dining area court-side. The second restaurant area is in the middle and it's a regular sports pub TV's everywhere and a decent video arcade area. Then there is a completely different third dining area out back with a full size pool and folks playing water volley ball (not a mini hotel pool, but a full size size pool) and an outdoor dining area. I was told there's only one kitchen for all three but the layout and separate settings, separate bars, separate jukebox's, in each made it seem like 3 different places all in 1. A pleasant surprise in the small town of Kimberly just outside of Appleton-Oshkosh Wisconsin! Enjoyed the fresh Perch meal here with no frostbite aftertaste like other more expensive places in the region. read more

Nonetheless the combo of rings & fries were founded at this place in 1995 and swept throughout the Midwest swiftly yet no combination had been as peak as this spot. The "Cheers" of Kimberly, WI now has an outdoor pool where various "entertainment dancers" spend there off time which is good if you're not allergic to penicillin. Kiki, Sage & Destiny await you to pay for their drinks pool side and the burgers are the best in a 2 mile radius. Sadly the food we got for takeout did not resemble in any way the Tanner's we knew. Hadn't been there in a while, but recalled good food so tried last night. Ordered the Bacon Bleu burger - it had no flavor. Bacon was unappealing crumbles. There was no Cajun seasoning? Fries/Onion rings were soggy and needed 8 min in my Air fryer to restore. Hubby's Saturday special Brisket sandwich was not brisket? He thinks it was a chuck roast? Not great either- tough & stringy. We won't be returning. read more

Met some friends out for supper on 7/7 around 6:30. We sat outside by the pool. I've been to Tanners numerous times over the years and they always have a great friendly staff! Service is fast and the staff is always helping each other out to make things run smoothly! I've tried various things in their menu and have always had a delicious meal. I had the Chicken Jalapeño Ranch taco last night....very delicious with an overflowing amount of chicken! Fairly priced and quality food. Great atmosphere! read more

Did takeout from Tanners tonight. We love Tanners, all they do for our community and schools it's just been so disappointing lately. This used to be our go to place for steaks but in the last year and a half I'd say one out of our last 6 steak orders has been right. We keep going back because we love supporting them for supporting our community but I just can't justify paying $25 for a steak that isn't even close to being cooked the way it's ordered. The steaks are continuously cooked over to the point of being well done. This was supposed to be med rare, even medium would have been acceptable but this is a well done as a steak can be. This is so hard - because the menu, food, and the ambiance are all 5-Star fantastic! But the service is SO hit or miss. When it's good, its really good. But when it's bad, its horrible. Most recently, we called ahead to make sure our group could be accommodated and asked what the drink specials were. We were told a table would be ready (and was) and that they had margarita specials that night... come to find out, no specials. I even showed my waitress the text and she's like "oh, that's actually the real cost of margs, it's not a special"... and she was kind of a snot about it. Like we were dumb or something. Nope, not dumb - just pretty pissed that we were told "$4.50" was a special... After I questioned that, I was pretty much ignored the rest of the night... she even skipped over me when getting everyone's order. I had to say "can I please order?" My (now) husband and I reserved space at Tanner's for a get-together with out of town friends the week of our wedding. They made the planning process really straightforward, were very responsive to our calls and questions, and were able to make recommendations about the amount of food and drink we would need to plan for. The food we got (pizzas, veggies, and pretzels with beer cheese dip) were a huge hit with our friends. The service was excellent despite our large, rowdy group, and at the end of the night, we couldn't believe how affordable it was to throw a four hour party for our friends. I've been coming to this place for a very long time and tonight, I have never been more disgusted with the manager (Morgan) and one of the bartenders (Lyric). The bartender was being, let's say not so nice, very unprofessional, and I called her out on it, she did not like it & told her manager that I was threatening her, which I did NO such thing, I was sitting there 30 min after calling her out, drinking my beer when I was told to leave & escorted out. WT actual F!! I get protecting your employees but really I didn't do anything. If I were you and wanting to go to Tanners, go to the west side, way better service and staff. read more
