I'm just kidding, I always have more to say. ;) But, in fairness, it's a great little spot that's kind of tucked away about a block and a half off the main strip (College Blvd or whatever it's called). But, it's a hidden gem worth searching for! We were made aware of this place thanks to the kind woman working at our hotel. We were in town for a game at Lambeau, and we heard that there was a shuttle from Rookie's to the field, which we definitely wanted to make use of! (That's a whole other review, but let's just say, it was an experience I'll never forget, and one I would repeat in a heartbeat!) The crowd here was clearly Packers fans. But, in their defense, they didn't make us opposing team fans feel threatened or not welcomed. Quite the opposite! Once they realized we were going to be respectful of their place and their folks, they welcomed us! The food really is good, especially for the money. It's one of those rare inexpensive places left in this country, where a pretzel appetizer easily feeds a family of four! LOL! I wish there weren't just two of us, because we also ordered boneless wings and cheese curds! Everything was hot and fresh, and it all tasted great. The drinks were large, inexpensive, and cold. No complaints at all. The service was also really wonderful, with friendly staff and very efficient servers. Like I said, nobody gave us a lot of grief for being from out of town. But, we could tell right away, this was a "local spot" and for a very good reason. Locals and regulars definitely make up the customer base, but they keep coming back for all the other reasons provided: good food, good drinks, and very reasonable prices. Example: I offered to buy a beverage for a very nice person who was incredibly helpful to us, specifically in arranging our spots on the shuttle bus. She was drinking a rail Old Fashioned. You know what that cost me? $3.50. That's not a South Park reference. That was what I paid for a rail cocktail! Anyway... if I'm ever in Appleton again, I'm stopping by. Any other place would up-charge but Tanner's doesn't. I chose grilled asparagus and appreciated the separate packaging so the sandwich didn't get soggy. I would come back and try other dishes as the menu is quite large.

When we visited, there was a live band playing and they had a Brewers game special: two 22-ounce Miller Lites for just $7. I honestly think this place is bigger than anything similar in the Milwaukee area. Whether you're looking for a casual day on the water, a large party venue, or even a wedding location, Waverly Beach has the space and setting to handle it. Definitely worth checking out!

But we weren't done. We worked our way through an assortment of craft beers spanning Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, Sours and Gose~style beers. The atmosphere was cool, the service was great, and the combination of food, beer and catching up with an old friend made this feel like the perfect beginning to my return to Appleton. Sometimes the best travel experiences aren't about finding the newest or trendiest place. Sometimes it's about sitting down with someone who knows you, sharing some great food and beer, and realizing some things really do feel like coming home. Horrible, horrible, absolutely horrible management! We have never been so disrespected from a bar. A group of us were meeting at Game Day for a Birthday party and most of us have kids so we planned to meet at game day and let all the kids play outside (on their playground for kids) when we arrived the patio was closed. They gave no reason or no heads up on any social media or their website. So we decided to eat inside. The kids were playing the claw machines and the games. We had one very nice young waitress for our whole table and she was very nice and patient with us. Some of us went up to the bar so she wasn't so overwhelmed and then most got told that we can only order from our waitress (in a rude way) the kids were getting very bored so I asked if they could run around or play bag toss in the volleyball area, which they said no, you need to pay for that. They then had the MANAGAER tell us our kids were not being parented and running wild all over the place. The inside is very small and they decided to have a very good band play inside on a nice day. And then we were told they had to turn away customers because of our group! (We all were also paying customers) we tried messaging and calling to talk to someone and were hung up on! A huge group of us will NEVER go back here and we will be spreading the word on how horrible we were treated. If the patio was open, we wouldn't have been inside at all. They took no accountability for any of this being their fault and were so rude to us with children. Don't advertise your a kid friendly bar and then yell at us for having children. If you don't want a lot of customers then don't have a band at your bar. Absolutely gross to me that this manager treats customers this way. We recently rented one of the new gazebos for my birthday and the experience was amazing. We had the brewer game playing on the TV inside so we could watch the game and listen to the live music. The wicker furniture that is in the gazebo was very nice and comfortable. There also is a ceiling fan located in the gazebo which was very nice since the weather was so hot it helped us keep cool! You also have access to a fire table in your private area for nights when it gets a little colder. The service we received in the gazebo was fantastic, which is the same as the service we experience there all the time. Will definitely be renting a gazebo again as it made the live music experience even better having our own private area. 10 out of 10 would recommend! read more

Game Day provided me with outstanding service and food! They're customer service is top quality and their meals are fantastic. Anyone who chooses to go somewhere else obviously hasn't had a taste of their best Haddock and many other entrees and appetizers or experienced the outgoing personalities of their amazing waiting staff. I will continue to recommend this place to every single individual who inquires about it! In addition, I look forward to playing my part in constantly speaking on it during family events, social gatherings and other events! I was at Gameday on Tuesday night. It was busy on the patio. Our server Kimberly seemed to be very busy with a lot of tables, but she never kept us waiting. She let us know our food was going to take a bit longer due to it being busy which I was ok with. We sat by the fire pits by the bar at a table. Our drinks were never empty and the food was great. This our go-to place for a bite to eat when we visit the Valley. Probably have been there 6-8 times and have never had a bad experience. The food has always been very good and wait staff has always been pleasant. Sometimes the staff is busy or short staffed but we've never been in a hurry so it has never been problem for us. All in all it's a no-nonsense sports bar with good food. read more

Need to shout out to Game Day to let the know how awesome they are. Had my birthday party here on July 4th. Rented one of the cabanas. I was leary of having a large party due to COVID.
