Excellent cozy little tapas spot. We had our first meal here on a recent trip to Barcelona, and although we spent a week in Spain, these were the best patatas bravas we had! The other dishes were also very good. They did mix up one of the dishes we ordered (a cheese dish) and brought another instead (mushroom risotto) -- probably as a result of our poor Spanish -- but we just went with the flow and ended up really enjoying the risotto. read more

Isn't wonderful when a place combines good food, reasonable prices and a fantastic atmosphere? Add this to central Barcelona and 5 stars are deserved. The restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived. We had the ravioli and the pork with straw potatoes. My husband ordered a second round from the pork, for the first time ever (portions are ok but not huge). A very decent price too for EUR 10-15 per main course. The staff was nice even if the kitchen looked very busy. My parents had also eaten there the same day with similar takeaways. Absolutely recommended. read more

We ducked in out of the rain and we're thrilled with our choice! Our waiter was handsome and fluent in English as we are stupid Americans whose español es mal. The food was the best we had eaten in Spain, the seating was tight but that helped us meet the French group sitting behind us! I want to dine there again before we leave! NOTE: This is a service review. The food was delicious. However, the service leaves much room for improvement. Especially given the fact that we were served by a person who claimed to be the restaurant manager ... Upon arriving to the restaurant we requested a terrace table. After being seated, the waiter didn't offer any refreshments and made us wait for the menus - which were a hands reach behind our table. Finally he brought us the menus and left, not to return again. After about 5 mins of waiting I tried hailing the waiter without much success. All three waiters were serving customers inside of the restaurant. After multiple attempts, and growing frustration, I finally got his attention - he made his way to us after clearing a table and taking another customer order inside of the restaurant. We placed the order for water, wine and tapas ... Everything arrived in a timely fashion. The food was exceptional, probably the second best tapas we had in Barcelona. The Iberrico jamon was good, not great. The mushroom risotto was to die for ... Listening to street musicians our wine glasses became empty, the water bottle was done for. We were finishing the food, with our table of empty dishes - waiting for someone to check on us. No such luck. Around us were two tables, both were attended to occasionally - as should be in a tapas restaurant. We were purely ignored. The waiter came outside picked us empty dishes from the other two table and left. He didn't return to clear our table or to offer desserts or drinks. At that point my patience ran out. I got up and walked into the restaurant. I approached our waiter and asked for a manager. He told me that he is the manager. I laid out my complaint about the poor service, which were met with no apology and pure playing dumb. The same person who took my orders in English, who is the manager of the restaurant - now couldn't understand me. Shame on you!!! I gave up and asked for a check. They brought a check and threw a RESERVADO sign on the table before we even left. The check included a 10% terrazzo surcharge. I called "the manager" and asked to remove it. His reply this is a standard charge for terrace service. I replied: "There was no service. I am not paying that." Finally they removed the 10%, still no apology. I hope that this is a one time occurrence for such highly rated Yelp restaurant, holding 2017 Trip Advisor Cert of Excellence. read more

Excellent meal. I had the steak with foie gras and was impressed. The spicey potatoes while very good...were not spicey. My daughter ordered the burger (which is a pattie) and it was tastey. We also had the calamari and local fried fish - fingerlings sized. A hit with all of us. read more

Great tapas last night at this cute spot in Born. Enjoyed a good mix of dishes and there was suitable items on the menu to please a vegan in our party. I won't list everything we ordered but everything was fresh and well prepared and ranks up there with the best tapas I've had in Barcelona. My only gripe is the weird and inpatient wait staff. He literally couldn't stand still for 30 seconds while someone chose a wine, laughed each time he bought out a dish as he kept saying we has ordered too much (I'll be the judge of that thanks chief) and then managed to forget 2 dishes he'd written down. Like he just decided we didn't need them so we had to reorder them at which point he made sure to point out the kitchen was closing. Cool story. Anyway standout dishes was the chicken croquettes and the chips/egg/jamon. The mussels were great too and quite a big portion. Definitely worth a visit if you're in this part of Barcelona. €70 for 4 with 2 glasses of wine. read more

I have been tasting around tapas dishes at different restaurants in Barcelona for a few days now and followed a friends recommendation to Tantaratana. Absolutely delicious tapas, the best I've had and we will be going back there before we leave. Make it a point to visit, excellent service, environment, and you can also sit outside. This will become a must go for us in future trips. read more

Very good food and service! Lovely place, cute and homie feel. Very relaxed atmosphere. The tenderloin with foie gras was delicious. Risotto and muscles a little salty for my taste but otherwise very good in taste. The tomato bread was delicious though, best one I have had in Barcelona so far. Definitely a strong 3.5 stars. I almost went 4 stars. After a day of strolling around the city, we came by this place for some late lunch, aka typical Spanish lunch time. Read a few Yelp reviews raving about the sangria, so decided to partake...when I'm Spain...lol. Decided to order what I thought would be a bottle of sangria versus a glass (I mean, one glass would not be enough). Turns out the "bottle" meant pitcher. So basically my next thought was if was a good idea to order a pitcher of sangria for two people. Well, we were on vacation so screw it, right. Anyways, we went for tapas: Eggplant with honey, batter fried calamari, baked cheese with iberian sausage, peppers from padron, roast curry chicken croquette and mushroom croquette. The use of honey on the eggplant and the baked cheese was brilliant. I liked the mushroom and chicken croquettes as well. The Iberian sausage was nicely seasoned. The calamari tasted light with great texture. A couple of the dishes seemed A bit too mushy like they were sitting in oil too long. I feel like this took away from the dishes. The sangria was great. We managed to chug that seemingly huge pitcher...Even found our hotel after. read more

We ate here after an afternoon of sightseeing and what began as "just a bevvie and a snack" became an impromptu dinner at 4:00pm. The restaurant is very small (probably only a total of about 12 or so tables), though there is seating on two different floors. We were seated upstairs, and though set apart from the movement and drama of the main restaurant and bar, the room had a nice, homey, eclectic feel to it. There was a nice little seating area with a leather couch, several tables with flowers and candles and an interesting mix of nostalgia and modern decor - old newspapers lined one side of the walls while the opposite was a black, very sleek tiled partition (almost like subway tiles) separating the dining area from the restroom area. Sounds odd, but somehow it worked. We ended up getting a pitcher of sangria, which I don`t normally care for as the majority are pretty much just like drinking a glass full of purple sugar water, but this one was pretty good. There was still a hint of acidity from the wine as well as the assortment of citrus fruits used to make it, and there was a nice balance of spice (clove, i think, was predominant) in there as well. Overall, it was good, and much less offensively sweet than the other versions Ive had in the past. As for food, we tried an assortment of tapas dishes - the mushroom and the chicken curry croquettes, warm brie with Iberian sausage, fried eggplant drizzeled in honey, the Padron peppers and calamari. Everything was very good, though I would say a couple of the dishes were less than excellent. On the excellent end of the spectrum was the brie with Iberian sausage. This came in a round topped with a mixture of the sausage, tomato and honey - a really unique combo as the honey was rather prominent. This didn`t detract from the rest of the flavors, however, it really sort of enhanced them - the sausage, of course, was salty and fatty, the tomatoes acidic, the cheese creamy and the paprika smoky. Overall, a delicious balance of textures and flavors. The calamari, in my opinion, for fried calamari, was also excellent. Many times, fried calamari really has no flavor beyond oil and breading, but these were pretty thick rings, lightly coated in breadcrumbs and quickly fried so that the primary flavor was the calamari itself - sweet, a little salty, and delicious - not the cooking technique. The croquettes were next, and while I did feel they could have been fried a little bit better - they were just a tad (and I do mean a tad) soggy - they were both really tasty. The curry chicken really surprised me, actually, as I was expecting either no curry flavor or an outright assualt on my tastebuds. Thankfully, it was neither and as I mentioned, they were quite good. Now, on the "not so excellent" end of the spectrum were the peppers and the eggplant. This actually really disappointed me because I love eggplant and I kept hearing about these fiery little peppers that we just had to try. The eggplant was cooked well - lightly breaded and fried, drizzeled with honey - but I just didn't get the eggplant flavor and creamy cooked texture I was looking for. And, to be honest, I was a little confused by the bowl of peppers...they were good - it appears they were baked or grilled, drizzeled with olive oil and topped with salt and pepper - but what am I to do with a bowl of peppers? I know, they are probably meant to accompany something, which is what we did, but it was such a big bowl for this to be the purpose. Also...none of them were particularly spicy (a key feature that was mentioned in the menu), which was a bit of a disappointment. Despite that, overall, everything was good, and though we only got tapas, it all ended up really being quite a bit of food...enough to pretty much tide us over for the whole evening. Word on the street is some of their main dishes are pretty outstanding, so perhaps we will return and give a couple of them a shot! read more

Yet another quaint, tiny, and tasty tapas bar. The food was deceptively simple sounding and surprisingly good. Food - Judias con Calamar: Squid and beans, baked together in a pan. So simple, but cooked perfectly and delicious. The beans were soft and creamy inside and the squid was tender, not the least bit chewy. - Patatas Bravas: They are just potato wedges, but they are cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside. Hard to stop eating. - Anchoas: Anchovies. You either like a plate of salt, or you don't. - Mousse Chocolate: mm Drink - Sangria: Yep, tastes like sangria. Service An example of the type of amusingly causal service we experienced everywhere on our Barcelona vacation. We walked in, the server told us to go find a seat outside, gesturing vaguely. But, as the restaurant goes all the way thru the building and there is seating outside on each end, it was unclear which side to go to. We walked outside and found all the tables full. We went back inside and were told to sit anywhere. It didn't take long to get menus, but in a tapas bar, where people order many rounds, why do they always take the menus away? Gross food and below average service. Like many other yelpers, we were deceived by the positive reviews and decided to give them a shot. What a mistake. We ordered the chicken croquettes (mushy and bland), padron peppers (these were fine, but then again, pretty hard to screw up), quinoa kale salad (drenched in thick, slimy, and overly sweet dressing, we couldn't stomach more than a couple bites), mini burger with foie (tasteless burger with NO foie gras), and the mushroom risotto (thick and gooey, not creamy without any noticeable seasoning/salt - we ate less than half of the dish). The service was less than attentive or friendly. Our waiter never checked on us during the meal, never offering us another drink or more water. Another waiter eventually cleared our barely eaten dishes, and took another 10 minutes to bring our check. It was bad. Save your money, time, and appetite for something more worthwhile. Tapeo is right around the corner and a million times better in every way! read more

My family spent 5 days in Barcelona. We stayed away from the fancy, expensive restaurants, and this was my favorite of those we visited, slightly edging out Bormuth, which was also good.
