As a first time customer, I definitely expected a better experience than I got for $200. Everyone there was very friendly and nice but I waited 30 mins for my appt to start with no one giving me any notice that Id have to wait. Wouldn't have been as much of a problem if they had let me know in advance! I had booked for a consultation but I don't feel like it was taken seriously as it lasted 2 mins. Didn't sit me down in the chair at all even though I had booked for a gloss she just asked what haircut I wanted? When they washed my hair, they did not double shampoo or do any sort of head massage. Double wash is something I always look for as someone with curly hair, it's necessary. After my gloss I did not see a difference in my hair color at all, and I wonder if my vision couldve been executed better if she took the time to ask me what I was going for in my consultation. I would've skipped it since it was $60 with no results. Then the haircut, I was unimpressed and felt she rushed and botched my bangs. When I go to what is supposed to be an upscale salon, I expect upscale service and am willing to pay for it. Before leaving, I did make a statement that the color and cut was not what I had described. Initially, they were willing to fix it. Witness this exchange from Monika: "This is exactly what I wanted to see, thank you! And in an ideal world, (or almost ideal), you would like to see what colors in your hair? Lighter, softer, etc. dimension? Even an inspo photo can help us dial it in. Is there a way to snap a pic of the disconnect in the cut? If it's too hard to capture, no stress whatsoever " I replied with the photos requested. I had a two-week business trip immediately afterwards but promises were made that they'd fix it when I returned. Only to get this reply from Monika: "Hi Helen This is Monika from Tantrum. Isn't life something? I hope your health has enjoyed some levity I also want to apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I spoke with Desiree, and she really enjoyed her time with you. She did mention that without more frequent upkeep for retouches/glosses, the shine and vibrancy in your hair will start to fade... Of course, everyone's lifestyle is different, and when the timing is right for us to care for our hair, we do it right. Right? I'd love to help make that timing a little easier for you, so I'm mailing you a $100 gift card, on me, to use toward your next appointment, However you decide to utilize it Please confirm this is the correct mailing address:" So we go from making it right to a $100 gift card because they took Desiree's side. Great. That isn't going to help and now I don't want to go back, I want a refund and now I need to discuss with the owner. "Hi Helen, I wanted to reach out to acknowledge your concerns and provide clarity. We did offer an adjustment following your visit in June, which you chose to cancel. Our policy allows corrections within seven days of the original appointment, and we were willing to honor that even beyond the policy window. At this point, however, we aren't able to provide further adjustments. We truly wish you the best moving forward. Heather Owner " So again, I clearly stated I would be out of state for two weeks and was told it wasn't a problem. Now we are down to 7 days. Why the sudden change of mind? Desiree, the original stylist, did a horrible rush job on my hair, tried to give me assurances that it will get better as it relaxed and was distracted with other family members in the salon that were there for an event. If she didn't want or have time to do my hair properly, she should have had someone else do it. Bottom line, spend your money elsewhere. You'll be glad you did. They cut all of my girls hair two and they are amazing when working with them. We have never left disappointed but also know they would do anything to fix it if it wasn't just right. Was in need of a haircut and color. I went to Tantrum and worked with Callie. She was friendly, very personable, and worked wonders with my hair. I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for so left it largely up to her. I was so impressed that Callie asked me quite a few questions to get to know what I had liked before and what I hadn't liked. She took her time with my hair and my cut turned out great. I even noticed a few gals near me getting cuts and colors. All of the color and cuts I saw turned out great. 10/10 recommend I've been wanting to find a hair salon in the East Valley for quite some time now so I didn't have to drive up to Phoenix for my hair. It's been about a year or so since my last haircut and I couldn't recommend this place enough, they were so kind. They also just went through a remodel and the new look of the hair salon is very inviting. While you are waiting they have refreshments like soda, water, coffee, and an assortment of snacks. Can I give 0 stars to begin with. Have been coming to this salon for almost 6 or 7 months now and the hair stylists were always nice. The lady on the reception is super rude, they canceled my appointment because I have the hair stylist review that they glazed ne with the wrong colour and spoiled my hair. She said I have been banned from the service cos I made the stylist feel not adept. Madam why are you in this business if you can't handle feedback? Tantrum does great hair but watch out for your personal banking information being stolen. They are secretly saving your information to charge you a cancellation fee of $79 dollars if you can't make your appointment even if you call the day before and cancel. I had never confirmed the appointment in the first place but still called just in case they were expecting me. I also would never authorize them to save my information as I'm sure most people wouldn't. The hair stylists are fantastic. Navy and Ella are really incredible in their hair styling skills. I believe it's ownership who makes the really bad decisions on how they treat their customers. I said this in a text and I'll say it now, I hope it was worth losing customers over. read more

It's been years since I've had short hair & both times I looked horrible in short hair, so I was prepared to look unpleasant. Kylee surprised me! She spent an hour pampering me with a relaxing shampoo, cut my hair in a asymmetrical bob, style & easy conversation. I've never had such a relaxing, yet productive experience in a beautiful setting such as this stand alone cottage of hair design. Everyone loves my new do, including me! I had a consultation before the procedure and was given the impression that they know what they are doing. First, you pull up to a nondescript building. Yes, there is a sign on the street, but the building is set a ways back. No outside decorations or signage, I questioned if I had the right spot. Once inside, imagine a bland room, not especially large with maybe 10 stylists and their clients packed in there. Maybe two masks between all of the clients and staff. My stylist was very kind and asked if she should wear a mask. If you are COVID conscious or trying to avoid poorly ventilated, highly crowded spaces, avoid this salon. Just an FYI, they charge $40 to blow dry your hair when you pay for a color and/or toner. When paying I stood next to another woman when the owner (manager) came out and said, thank you and did you get your welcome bag? (Not to me- also new, to the other woman). I felt like I was invisible. Hi, I'm new too... lol I'm giving three stars because the stylist was kind and competent and the end result is what I hoped for. read more

I contacted Tantrum through Yelp with my haircut ideas, color ideas, and plans to donate my hair to Children With Hairloss. My stylist, Charity, and staff were super friendly, accommodating, and transparent during the whole process. The whole process took two appointment. The first appointment was a wash and hair cut. I really appreciated that they followed the hair donation guidelines and provided bags and printed form without prompting. The second appointment was for bleaching and coloring. She really took the time and effort to listen to what I wanted and even went back in to perfect it. My hair was very damaged prior and she brought it back to life. Truly amazing! I went to the wrong salon. I had a 4pm appointment no one knew anything about it. Maybe a "you're at the wrong Salon?" would be appropriate. I wish i could post a photo. As a retired hairdresser, I came in with a swatch of the extensions I already purchased. They are sun streaked blonde. My hair is in no way close to the color. Once dry, i informed the gal, i hate the color but it was the dark haired owner who gave instructions of color and and volume of hydrogen peroxide to use. I have beige hair. I said, " this is in no way close to the color of the swatch" she said i know, we will recolor it once they are in. Why? 150.00 in upsell to recolor. The place was clean, nicely decorated, friendly but i got a color I didnt want. I called the owner to discuss the situation, I was displeased. I was told, "you walked in" yes i did, by mistake. You got the services you wanted, Yes, but i am not pleased. I plainly stated, If you wont compensate by a partial refund or fix it, I will post a negative review. He said, "Is that a threat?" I replied, "No, its fact" You refuse to fix what your mgr and stylist did. I am entitled to my opinion as are you. If you bought an item from Amazon and didnt like it, you'd return it or get a replacement. read more

Their customer service is the best I've come across, after trying so many salons in the valley. They respond quickly, and their prices are fair. I paid double at a "high rated" salon and left so disappointed because then stylist didn't do what I asked for, so I came to Tantrum to try and fix it, and they HIT. THE. MARK. Their reception area is so cute and the front desk is always so sweet... and there's goodie bags on your first visit! She answered so many hair questions that I've always had, but was too scared to ever ask. She insists that if I am not happy with my haircut that i am able to come back within two weeks to get any adjustments.
