Went to try tapping taco for the first time. You've only got four choices of meats, but the Carne Sada is ground up into almost ground beef. How about leaving long strips like the Al Pastor maybe it would be a little better. Also, the Pacifico on tap is barely cold enough.make no mistake, it must be chilled. Nobody likes hot beer. Please manager work on that and we'll go back we promise. But seriously work on it now. by the way, I forgot to mention about the tortillas that you guys use for the tacos. You have to double up the tortilla because it'll get soggy and break apart when you're trying to eat your tacos. I'm from the NE Heights area and was regretting my decision to come this far for tacos. I've lived several years in Houston and have been spoiled be very good Mexican restaurants and Taco Trucks so I had low expectations. Even standing in line, I was still skeptical as this wouldn't be the first restaurant I've been to where the food was ok and the restaurant is over hyped. To my surprise, the line moved fast, the meats were moist and tasty, all the go to sauces were present, the tortilla was soft but still held up, everything down to the mechelada, vibe and atmosphere was on point. I honestly could say, I felt transported to Houston and definitely not in NM anymore. Discovered my taco place. My only regret is only ordering 5 tacos. And some flies here and there is expected anywhere when the doors are constantly opening and closing. Cheap yummy food! I got one asada quesadilla, one barbacoa taco, and a large horchata. The quesadilla is $6 or $7... and the taco is $2. The quesadilla was so filling I had to get a to go box. Well I finally trekked on over to see what all the hype was about. Let's start with the important stuff; the food. I had the fish tacos, just ok. It was fried and I don't care for fried fish. I also had the chicken taco and it was delish! We Also had the loaded nachos. The order process is ok, stand in line, grab a tray and pick whatever you want. They make everything in front of you, which I like. After we grabbed our trays we headed into The bar and commenced to stuff our faces with some local brews. The music was a tad too loud IMHO. Oh and the tacos are SUPER tiny. The prices are pretty low so order more than 2! It's fun and super casual! Thai is an old Burger King which has been updated somewhat. I'll be back! read more

Reminds me of a food truck next door to a small, neighborhood bar! The tacos are tiny (3" in diameter) but inexpensive ($2 each). Chicken, beef, fish & carne asada are the varieties. If you want cheese, ask for it when you order. They also offer a generous/looking portion of quesadillas. Two types of "papas" are $7: a whole baked potato or smothered French fries. We aren't sure if toppings are extra. Lastly, they offer "loaded nachos," which look pretty good. If you want a soft drink (Coke products) or Iced tea/lemonade, they are available at the food line checkout. In medium or large paper cups. Did I mention that this all takes place on the right half of the building? You stand in a line that is long but moves pretty quickly. You're served your food on cafeteria trays, and standard paper plates. Plastic cutlery is provided. You pay for your food at the end of that line. The left half of the building offers some seating on its perimeter, along with several high top tables. It's somewhat unclear as to how you get served at the bar, because there isn't a specific order area. It seems as if the bartenders will bring drinks to your table but I'm not sure. There is a large patio area outside with wooden picnic tables large enough to seat 6-8 adults. We were there on a perfect weather day, a week after the ferocious winds forced them to take down sun shades (like awnings?) it could get a little toasty as summer draws near. The bar service is efficient and you can run a tab with a credit card. Drinks seem reasonably priced. Patricia, Primo/Javier and "Dani" were all very pleasant. I imagine we'll return. We are always looking for places that offer outdoor dining. It is so appreciated. read more

This place used to be a Burger King and we would always say the place was cursed because there would be 0 business. Tap N Taco proved otherwise, a Sunday evening and it was poppin. It was so good. We got the chicken tacos, carne asada fries, churros and some drinks from the bar. There's a nice area to sit at outside it would be perfect during the summer. read more

I don't get to Rio Rancho very often, but my daughter and I needed a place to eat before seeing Cirque du Soleil's OVO. A friend of hers told her about Tap n Taco, and we figured we couldn't miss out on $2 tacos! They're small street tacos, and you get your choice of fish, carne asada, chicken, al pastor, and barbacoa. I ordered one of everything but the chicken, and my daughter ordered everything but the fish. Everything was cooked to perfection - fresh corn tortillas and delicious fillings. You can top yours with onions and/or cilantro, and then go to the salsa bar with they have a wide variety of choices, from mild to things that looked like they would burn my lips off. You can also get the fillings in a nice-sized quesadilla, over fries, or topping a baked potato. Drink choices are Coke products and iced tea, and you can order beer or a cocktail from the adjoining bar. Our food was great and we were finished in plenty of time to see our show. read more

So so good. I love the ability to be able to interact with the staff as they cook in front of you. The menu isn't that big but what is on it is enough for me. I love the quesadillas and the tacos are excellent as well. It's funny when I go in with my adults kids and they remember playing in there when they were kids. It's a must try. read more

I've stopped by twice thinking my first experience was a one off but nope, it wasn't. Tortillas were dry and meats ( Al pastor y Asada) had no flavor :( Was really disappointed and thought that the green salsa would do the trick pero ni maíz, even the salsa had no flavor. The salsa can make or break your taco and honestly needs spice. Went a second time thinking first time was a bad day but same thing :( husband choking on dry tortillas and tacos were just plain tasting. It's ok definitely needs to work on the sizes that you get I would honestly rather go to chipotle even though this place is a little cheaper But something that was ticking me off was the employees were mumbling while it was super loud in there not the nicest people but the food was pretty solid. The only problem with the food is the portions they give are so little and the tacos weren't all that great. I'd just would've said go to chipotle if my parents weren't paying for my food. read more

I'm hardly ever in Rio Rancho so I'm not super familiar with all the restaurants out this way but my friend was like "girl we gotta go check this place out!" & being the foodie that I am and the love I have for her I obliged. The taco's were about average in my opinion and didn't really give me a wow factor they are something you can basically get anywhere in this state but for the price of only $2 not bad at all. I came home my family ate them my husband was not happy I thought the food was fine however both of my girls were sick the next day . My husband and girls said they don't want to ever go back . Great food, great staff!! I will say this is pretty authentic when it come to the food... staff is friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable. Only issue is the flies in the bar area, not bar flies but actual flies! The bay door was open and a decent amount of flies got in, which does happen but they were in the bar area over the cut lime and lemons. Bar room was a little hot!! I will say this, no flies in the food area of the kitchen. They would have received 5 stars if not for the flies!! read more

Went to check it out for early dinner, and found out it was happy hour so super reasonable Dos XX and Blue Moon, and nice and cold. Hubby got a quesadilla with carne asada, and I got a baked potato with barbacoa, with various sauces and pico de gallo from the salsa bar. Hubby's quesadilla was fulla meat, and he enjoyed it with the super hot and spicy red sauce. My baked potato was definitely the wrong vessel for allowing flavor to come thru, as the meat got lost in the bulk of potato. Next time I'll just get tacos. Great location for serving as a neighborhood hangout, kitchen and bar service was super friendly, and I'm sure we'll return. read more

Food was okay. Drinks in the bar area were good. Place is a little small, but has outdoor area. Apparently not full service so you have to go to the counter for drinks which took a very long time to get served. Bathroom in the restaurant part was pretty bad.
