This was our first time at turtle Mountain brewing and it did not disappoint! My dining companion was craving something from another restaurant on the other side of town, but considering it was so late, I suggested coming here as it had similar things on the menu, and I am so glad I suggested this place. We walked in, and the place was a little crowded, but we were still sat pretty quickly. I liked the atmosphere of the place because it seemed very open, inviting, and had a certain local charm to it. As soon as my dining companion saw the people around us getting their food delivered it looked so good she no longer remembered what we came for and we ended up ordering something completely different. We didn't wait long for our waitress to come over. She was very nice and attentive I asked her for a drink recommendations, and she mentioned some good ones. Considering the day before was New Year's Eve and I probably should've took a break from drinking, I said say screw it and got something light. It was a blood orange cider, and it was delicious, I was not expecting it to taste like that! Unable to make our minds up, we decided to split a salad and pizza. For the salad I wanted to get the Valley grande, but we compromised and got the brazos which was essentially a Caesar salad. That's how it was huge. We had enough to share and more, it was also tasty, the dressing. You could tell was definitely house made. For the pizza we decided to get a split half truchas and half chimayo (my half) and it was amazing the flavor was great and the topping fresh. Although next time I will ask for well done. On to dessert. The best thing we ordered all night was the Apple calzone. It seemed to be the size of a little football and came with two scoops of ice cream. It's been years since I've last visited Turtle Mountain. When I say years I mean we're talking at least a decade and a half. These days it's very rare for me to be in the Rio Rancho/ West Side of Albuquerque but after my favorite restaurant with amazing calzones closed up shop at the beginning of the year, I found myself looking for around for a decent calzone. With fond memories of this place I decided to give em a shot. The restaurant was very busy when I arrived. Luckily I ordered ahead. Got myself a pepperoni calzone with extra cheese. I walked in bout 20 minutes later and the staff had it ready to go. I thought great that's awesome. That was until I got to the car and inspected it. I knew this thing was coming home but I was really hungry so I decided to at least get a couple bits in. The considering the calzone was prepped pretty quickly after I'd ordered I have to say it wasn't very warm and the sauce was way too thick. The crust and the flavor overall didn't impress me too much I admit. It wasn't until I got home and dug further into it I realized the center was not cooked well. The center had not melted at all. There were strands of shredded cheese piled on pepperoni you can clearly tell had not melted at all. I should have called to complain but by then an hr had passed so I ended up throwing it in the oven to melt finish cooking it. Even then I wasn't impressed. Considering how expensive it was at almost $20 I expected a lot better quality. For the same price I could've gone to another pizza joint and ordered a pizza instead that I know would've been way better. Overall between the crowded tables and bustling traffic inside, I'm sorry to say they miss the mark on this one. After this experience it's no wonder I haven't thought to return in so many years. I've dined here many times and this is the place we like to visit because the drinks are good and so is the food. The parking lot is a little deceiving because once you drive in you think that the front parking is all the spaces they have. But you have to drive in a little further and there is more parking in the back of the restaurant. As I stated before, we have dined here many times the food is not disappointing. It is always good. We always try and get an appetizer, I recommend the spinach dip so creamy and delicious! This time, we decided on a burger. We tried it with sweet potato fries. Perfect!! Service was fantastic as well. Service with a smile, the staff is so friendly and attentive. Here at the restaurant, there are tv's where you can watch your favorite sports team. Always a great expierence when we stop in. The appetizers are always good and the adult chicken tenders are exactly what every adult wants!! As of the writing of this review they weren't brewing their own beer but the waiter said they hope to be back brewing in a few weeks. This was recommended as a fan favorite but my experience was a bit off. Service was decent, but it is extremely dark (even during the day) and our table was sticky. Food was good, but my plate portions were more like an appetizer. The beer I had seemed a bit flat. Not a fav for sure, more of a "meh" for me. Perhaps another visit would be better. read more

This is an elevated neighborhood joint. The menu is standard pub fare, at first glance, but then you get your food. For instance...the calamari appetizer is not your standard Sysco food service rings and tentacles. It is large strips of calamari topped with pesto aioli and feta cheese sprinkles. The quesadilla appears pedestrian, but then you bite into and taste the excellent green chile. The pizzas are oak fired and unique. The Truchas pizza is topped with marinara, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, spinach, mozzarella and pine nuts. The Ojo Caliente is Habanero Ale BBQ sauce, chicken, fresh pineapple, red onions, mozzarella and cheddar. Amazing. I could go on, but the entire menu is like this...familiar, but with a twist that makes it special. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They are very accommodating, especially if you need to modify a menu offering (I am allergic to mushrooms...so I often have to make a special request). The beer and cider selection is vast. They have their own excellent in house brews and many craft brews from other local breweries. No Bueno today. Sorry got here at 1:45. Ordered at 2pm, got our food after 3pm. Everyone around us already finished their meal. We sat at the main island with 12 seats around us. Everybody was just hanging out and done with their meals for 30 plus minutes before we got our food, and we sat first. Server actually said hey they're just melting your cheese now, 20 minutes before we got our goddamn food. It was a Philly for fucks sake. Someone, probs manager because our server ghosted, deliver our food. I told her it had been over an hour since we ordered, she said, sorry it's been busy. we just found this place few weeks back. Decided to come back on my birthday. it was a perfect end to a great day. 5 PM there was a 15-20 min wait, but no wait at the bar area. Bar area we went! Bartender: Andrew...with the perfect hand bar mustache helped select the best beer for me "Dunkel Ale" based on my comments/likes. Manager: Seuss...gave great insight to the pizza choices, made sure our food arrived hot, & very attentive to our needs. Wife had the dinner salad with cranberry vinaigrette. Salad was crisp & vinaigrette had a very nice taste. We shared an Adam Bomb pizza, it was outstanding. Best I have had in a long time. I highly recommend you stop by for a pint. read more

Absolutely love Turtle Mountain. Now I am partial to the Enchanted Hills location but you can't go wrong with either. The one on southern is awesome, more quiet and small while the north location is large with a huge bar (with purse hooks) If you go for lunch while it's not noted on the menu, you can ask for a lunch sized pizza. The nachos are fantastic and so are the fish and chips. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is outstanding. I've never had a complaint or issue. If we're talking the north location. Well, the salads are fantastic!!! My favorite place for a salad honestly. The salmon is delightful and funny but I've never had the pizza there. It's big and airy, plenty of seating and one of the biggest bars. The bloody Mary's are yum! Brunch when they have it is fantastic. Turtle Mountain is a Rio Rancho staple. Either is great! I personally love their calzone pizzas or even just the pizza and wings. It is on the pricier side for what you get but the quality makes it somewhat worth it. I thought the waiter both times was phenomenal my drink never went empty and was cleaning up and talk to us during perfect times. And i love that the people who go there are chatty it makes the room feel alive. read more

I have always loved coming here, even when I moved out of state I would always make time to visit when I came home. I moved back a few years ago and now live closer to the North location, so I have been going there for quite some time. I had six people from out of town, plus myself last night and thought we'd go to the OG location. It was sadly a miss. The host(ess) at the front counter (with the red kool-aid colored hair) was absolutely rude, condescending and cold. The server was awesome, but it took quite sometime for the food to come. Most of our entree dishes were lukewarm and two calzones were still cold in the middle. It might have been an off night... but I hope it improves. read more

I like this place. Close to home, just down the street from the house. Seems lots of customers, maybe not enough staff, as some waited and complained of how long it took for their order. Me I sat down and in less than 30seconds I had a menu and was ordering. Cooks look really busy and the pizza oven is going full blast Atmosphere is actually great, music and TVs with multiple games on. Bar top has a bunch of different brewery coasters. Seems to have messed up my order or lost it. It has been over 20 minutes for chicken strips and fries. Not good, everyone that came in after me has gotten their food. Now I know the frustration! The service was fast and friendly every employee asked if we needed anything and they were quick to clear empty dishes and glass. Consistently great food in a bar atmosphere. We've never gotten a tbale, always sat in the bar at the center high-top. Casual conversations with others are the norm. Service is consistently good. Fish Tacos are possibly the last thing I should have ordered. I wanted light, and got it. Strange sauce: habanero wing sauce? Spicy overwhelmed the fish which looked great but couldn't taste. I ordered an extra corn tortilla to reinforce the one that came wrapped around each taco. Not my first experience with corn tortillas. I was finally able to check out turtle mountain brewing. The food here was great. The have a vatiety of options for even the pickiest of eators. They are known for their calzones but i tried the fish and chips. The batter was perfect and extra crunchy. I invited a group of 12 friends to dine with me in the afternoon at turtle mountain. I typically will call the restaurant and give them an advance notice if I'm bringing some friends but in this case I forgot. Regardless, they were very great about setting three tables together and welcoming us. Our server was amazing I have to give her kudos. Her name was Chase. She handled our group impeccably including some special requests in the way foods were cooked. The kitchen also deserves a lot of respect for their ability to put out great quality food that satisfied everybody in the group. The wine and beer selections here we're okay not great but everybody found something that they liked. We would come back here again in a heartbeat everyone thought the food was really good. Eva and her team did a fantastic job catering to the crowd we brought in for our pre-wedding celebration. They were patient and conscientious of everyone's diverse needs. We had ordered a plethora of apps off the menu which were fantastic (and thats saying something for a brewery) and went faster than Usain Bolt on a 100m sprint. The beer was on point and high quality - given the fact that competition is stiff for good beer in the area we were impressed. The rest of the wedding group was super please with the cocktails also (who doesn't want a quality margarita?). The food and drinks here are really good. Service was really fast and the inside is all around just comfy. My husband and his friend ordered the beer. They really liked it. I ordered bees knees which is really good. I also ordered a blueberry type drink taste of kind of like tea. I didn't really care for that one too much but it was still okay. I would probably order the bees knees again. The tortilla burger super tasty green. Chile was good. Meat was cooked well. I'll definitely be coming back here again and try other items. read more
