Thought this place was going to be the cool hole in the wall place we were looking for! The ambiance was fine but it was evident that the wait staff has terrible customer service skills (if any at all). Three women were working and it took 20 minutes for them to clean off an open table. As soon we were able to sit, it took them another 10 minutes to give us the menus and they didn't even take our drink order at that time. We waited ANOTHER 20 minutes for someone to take our order but by that time we were better off being served at Wheaty's pub- just a few doors down the street! (Great outdoor options and no terrible wait staff- would recommend wheatys for anyone coming in out of town). Also, if you were still wondering if you should check this palace out in the midst of a pandemic, you should know they don't clean down the tables entirely. Loved this place. The bar looks like it was made in the 1800's. Beautiful decor. I had their special burger and it was quite good. My wife enjoyed her salad, and my kids enjoyed the pizza. Skip it. Lunch for 2, over $50 and took over an hour due to slow service. Small portions, high prices, bad service.

1.) We received our food 1:20 after we sat down. There is no host/hostess, which was fine except we sat for 30 minutes before someone greeted us and took our drink order. 2.) The food was nearly unedible. The special was fresh Great Lakes Whitefish, broiled or fried. We ordered broiled and were told there was one option for preparation, lemon pepper, because they were out of crusted parmesan. The lemon was so strong you couldn't taste the fish at all. It was really bad. 3.) The owner, who was very nice, asked us how the fish was and we politely explained the lemon flavor was way too strong. There was no remedy offered, but someone in the future should benefit because she said that she would give the cook the feedback. 4.) They charge $1 extra to use a credit card. I have never been charged extra at a restaurant for using a credit card. Until now. They were nice people and I would like to say it was a good experience, but it was very disappointing. read more

Went here based on a 4 star rating on Google Maps. Atmosphere was nice, food not so good. Wait staff seemed a bit confused about what was and wasn't available. I had a burger since it is something that can't be messed up too badly. The fries that came with it were greasy, in small pieces, and not very warm. The side salad I ordered had sen better days. The lettuce was brown around the edges, and the cucumber had been frozen at some point. At least it was a nice mix of greens and the house Ranch dressing was quite good. My husband's walleye was passable but the broccoli was no longer green, more a putrid yellow. The onion soup he ordered was pretty good, but it arrived after he had finished his main course. There don't seem to be too many choices in Manistique, but I think we will go to Big Boy tomorrow. read more

Never know what to expect with UP dining but this place is 5 all the way! Really great food, great and attentive service and ice cold Michigan beers on tap. Glad we got here early because our 5 minute wait is over 30 for those coming in now. AND...we've never heard a restaurant recommend other restaurants if the wait is long. We visited Tap21 twice in early August 2017 and really enjoyed it. This bar/restaurant has a dark, woody rathskeller atmosphere that is very pleasant. They have a good selection of (21) Michigan beers on tap. The food was very good; somewhat upscale....not your usual bar food. My boyfriend and I went to TAP21 recently and enjoyed it. When we got there around 7, all of the tables were full, but we were able to grab a couple of stools at the bar. The drinks were good, and the food was decent. The fried fish sandwich was good (light and crispy batter), but the hamburger, fries, and chips were just average. Great beer selection (tons from MI breweries) and friendly staff. Get there early if you'd like a table; it's pretty small. read more

It was definitely busy when we came in and were still seated fairly quickly. Service was great- our waitress was friendly and the perfect amount of present without hovering. Food was incredible (10/10 recommend the Tap Burger) and the beers we had were awesome, as was the selection. We had been here a few times and each time it got worse and worse. Had ordered a crab stuffed fish that they used to serve and it was cold. Next visit, ordered a breakfast sandwich that was supposed to have eggs, bacon and cheese, it was served as a regular grilled cheese sandwich. The waiter said he would compensate our bill, instead he over charged us. We didn't go back for two years. We decided to try it once more. The waitress was decent and we spoke with the owner about our other experiences. She told us to let her know if we have any other poor experience. We went back again and had a HORRIBLE experience here!!! We ordered an appetizer plate, a few cocktails (one being a martini), and a glass of water.The waitress served the martini warm, forgot the glass of water, and didn't bring the sauce for the appetizer. We asked again for the water, sauce and some ice. We were going to put the ice in the Martini. She never came back. The appetizer sat getting cold and couldn't drink the martini. The waitress was playing with the TV, so I got up and asked again for the sauce, water and ice. She yelled at me to go sit down. We decided we will leave. She began screaming that she is calling the police. Another customer heard what she had done to us and he paid our bill. We will Never go back there again! read more

Disappointed.... Service took forever and we were there prior to the dinner rush. Ordered the chicken cavatappi and it was absolute mush while swimming in butter. Was supposed to get a side salad prior to meal but waiter informed me that it may come out with the meal and if that would be okay or they could box it up for more to eat later. Seriously? They were able to serve my husbands side salad prior to his meal but a side ceasar salad is that much more preparation smh. Needless to say I left hungry. My husband and I, being a huge fan of craft beers, made it a point to stop at this place. When we walked in, we were awed by the beautiful bar. Our waiter said there are only two in the world like this and the other one is in England. So cool! We sat and ordered our beer and some food. The way the menu was laid out on the iPad was cool. However when we got our flights, the waiter took the iPad away, leaving us with beer that had no identification on it. Big no-no in my book. The food was okay. I had these pretzel sticks that dripped of grease. My husband got these mozzarella balls that he was pretty excited about. Except, when they arrived, there was an extremely small number. He also got a Tap Burger, but he said it was just so so. Our bill totaled up to $43 for small amounts of mediocre food. We felt cheated just by the small amounts of food for the price we paid alone. As for the service - our waiter was extremely talkative. Like too talkative. Later in our meal, a girl started serving us, but I'm thinking we must've been her first table she's ever waited on, cause she was horrible. Honestly, the only reason I gave this place two stars was because of the beautiful bar and the atmosphere. Label your beer, serve more food if you're going to charge that much, and get better waitstaff. We probably won't return again. read more
