I brought my dad here for Father's day. His favorite dish is paella. This is my second time here and everything I've had is delicious. The plates and the deserts. We have passed by this spot tons of times, and thought we should try it out finally. The outside is pretty unassuming, but the inside decor is welcoming and chic! Our server was very friendly and recommended dishes for us to order. He was very attentive which we appreciated. Everything we got was prepared with care and yummy! I would say food is about a 4 out of 5, I've definitely had better tapas but it's not bad by any means! The paella was the star of the show, so I highly recommend that. Stuffed mushrooms with cheese was good but I wish there were more than just 2. They are getting their liquor license in the beginning of April, so hopefully more folks will come check out this spot! Beautiful restaurant inside. It's a little weird it's behind an attached liquor store but looks are deceiving. The restaurant was completely empty when we popped in at opening time (4) to check something new and different in town .... Tapas! Every dish is served on a single serve plate you'd use for a regular size salad in case you're wondering about portion sizes. Tapas are smaller sizes but just enough there to be shared and boy did we! We tried to hit a little of everything from bread to seafood lol. We had alot of leftovers though . Service was a perfect pace and definitely perfect imo. He was very good with allergy instructions and descriptions of food. We went for a smaller paella instead of the huge one which I was appreciative of that it's offered! Feeds about 2 - 3 he said yet even the smaller size at around 4. Definitely plenty in portion size for everything else as well. Each plate serves at least 2 - 3 people so come hungry. The food was excellent just missing salt on everything. It's something different which we need in Indy. I hope the location lasts where it's at because it's off in an area that seemed to lack enough foot traffic. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience Spanish tapas. My wife and I were greeted right when we walked in the door. The waiter, who I also believe was the owner, was pleasant and greeted us when sitting. He explained that his bar was still waiting on his liquor license, and most likely won't be obtained until 2026- that's okay, we came for the food. We ordered six tapas between the two of us- which I think was the perfect amount. The croquetas were first to arrive. They were crispy, filled plentifully, and had a nice tomato sauce. All of our meals were played beautifully. The blancos queso de brava arrived next- the bread was crisp, had a nice amount of spread grilled on it, and the tomato with goat cheese was flavorful. The chicken and steak skewers tasted fresh, with each having their own sauce to dip in- both were wonderful. The alcachofos were one of my favorite items- everything in the dish tasted fresh, was plentiful, and was presented beautifully. Lastly, the patatas bravas were crispy, and had a nice spice to it. Overall, we can't wait to return to try out new dishes on the menu, and drink some bar items when that days comes. read more

I am so happy to have found this place! Totally unassuming building, which, as any foodie knows, often houses the best food, and Tapas Ñ - Taste of Spain is no exception to that. You walk in and you're immediately transported. The interior is gorgeous. The seating is plush and comfortable. Every employee we encountered was so kind and friendly. Now, the most important part: the menu. Beautiful! My husband and I are pescatarians, so I can't speak to the meat selections, but there are so many vegetarian and seafood options. We started off with their sangria and, red or white, you can't go wrong. Amazing. For food, we ordered the Gambas al Ajillo, Patatas Bravas, Champiñones con Queso, Blanco's Queso de Cabra, and Piquillos Rellenos. Am I embarrassed by how outrageously much food we ordered? Yes. Do I regret it? NEVER. Every single thing was incredible. The shrimp were done to perfection, the potatoes were exactly right and the cheese was fresh and delicious. The sneaky winners, though, were Blanca's Queso and the Piquillos. We like to pick out a handful of places that are go-to's for when people come to visit, and this spot is 100% going on the list. In fact, I plan on going again next week when family comes to visit. Seriously: check this place out. It'll be a fast favorite. read more

So the entrance is a bit tricky. Half the people end up in the liquor store which is located in the same building. You want to aim for a set of two dark brown doors at what I would consider the side of the building, facing the strip mall. However, once you make your entry you will be surprised by the beautiful interior of this restaurant. There is a gorgeous bar in the along the main wall, unfortunately when we visited they didn't have their liquor license just yet. Guess we'll have to come back. Some of my guest did peruse the wine menu and are looking forward to some of the Spanish wines listed. It is a bit pricey, but the food quality is excellent and therefore well worth it. The dishes will be served as soon as they are plated, so you may get your food at different times. But since tapas are meant to be shared, this should not be a problem. I enjoyed the Almondigas almendradas aka meatballs and I was pleasantly surprised. You get 3 big meatballs in a delicate but very flavorful sauce. The meatball themselves also pack quite a bit of flavor, being made from a combination of different meats. An absolute group favorite. The beef skewer (Pinchitox de solomillo) rolled in cracked pepper and served with some kind of onion horseradish saute and sour cream received a lot of praise... delicate pieces of beef full of flavor and that onion saute is absolutely delish and has a little bit of a sweet and tangy thing going for itself. Highly recommend. I enjoyed the flan for dessert and it was all that I hoped for. However the Pastel de Churros was the show stopper.. Beautifully plated and served with ice cream, this is a must have at every visit here. My guests also had high praise for the bacon wrapped dates, Queso Blanco and the octopus. The paella is a huge serving and too much for just one person. As are the olives. I don't think one person alone can eat that many olives in one sitting. The only thing not sweeping us off our feet was the Spanish omelet, which is served cold, but would be better warm. The taste is fine though. I do highly recommend this place. Just be a bit patient as they are ironing out their little snags. It is a fairly new spot. The food is delicious and the servers try very hard to give you a great experience. read more

On a random "let's go on a date," my husband and I visited Tapas N. Per usual, we bellied up at the bar, watched the World Cup and drank Spanish wine and beer. We tried three tapas (yum!!) and the sangria (also yum!) while hearing Saul's story of how the restaurant came to be. I can't wait to go back, take friends, and try the paella and other tapas. Outside restaurant a bit deceiving as it is one half of building, the other half is a completely separate store. Inside reminded me of a swanky Miami club, playing upbeat music- not obnoxiously loud, could still have a conversation, dark turquoise blue accents against dark brown, with lush palm-like plants. Service was impeccable, super friendly and the food came out so fast! Food was excellent! I didn't get a picture of it but my favorite was bacon wrapped dates with pimiento sauce (datiles al Horno). I also ordered the Queso de Cabra -a goat cheese baked in tomato basil sauce served with perfectly crispy crust but soft middles garlic bread. A great new Spanish tapas place in the Castleton area that serves authentic Spanish cuisine. Upon entering you get an old world euro feel. The walls have murals and pictures that reflect such. I ordered the Paella Del Mar: shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, calamari on a bed of saffron rice. The seafood was fresh but the seasoning were a little on the mid side. The fact that they've only been open for about 3 months I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The owner greeted us and gave us a churro cake on the house. This was very decadent treat. We are huge fans of spanish tapas (small plates) in general and used to frequent the now long gone Barcelona in downtown Indy. This new place, if you can get pass the not so ideal location and the fact that its attached and share the building with a liquour store, the food is actually not bad. They didnt have a liqour license yet when we went, so no sangria for us. But other than that, even if they dont offer gazpacho and use white correlle plates, we had a great dinner. We were satisfied with all the tapas we ordered, including the paella. Our server was very polite and attentive, explaining the dishes. Inside ambiance is not so shabby either. Our Matters of Taste foodie group came to Tapas N restaurant to try out some tapas for dinner. Tapas N is a new Spanish restaurant in Castleton that just opened up five weeks ago. They do not have their liquor license yet, so we could not get any alcohol for dinner, which was fine with us. Our server told us they should have the liquor license in a couple weeks, so if you come here for dinner in a couple weeks, you should be able to order a glass of wine or sangria. Anyway, Tapas N used to be Tandrum lounge, which is a nice, quaint space with a very nice bar area. The ambiance is very nice and attractive looking for a Spanish restaurant. The tapas menu was very impressive along with the dessert menu. When we ordered the food and it came out, OMG,were we in for a surprise! The food was wonderful and amazing! I ordered the grilled octopus with potatoes, the roasted dates wrapped in bacon, and the chocolate churro cake with vanilla ice cream. Everything was incredible and high quality!! The texture of the grilled octopus was just right and the flavors were unbelievable!! The chocolate churro cake with vanilla ice cream was pure heaven!!! The texture and fluffiness of the cake was absolutely perfect! The roasted dates wrapped in bacon were fantastic and the sauce that came on the plate accompanied the dates extremely well. Everyone in our group loved their dishes! I sampled the meatballs, the veggie noodles, and the grilled beef skewers. They were all fabulous and had great flavors! Our server was very good and was running ragged, because he was the only server on the floor working the restaurant, and the place did start to get busier while we were there. I figured since it had only been open for five weeks,they did not get enough staff hired yet, so it was understandable. However,he did an excellent job taking care of our group and taking care of other guests in the restaurant. This was a great new restaurant in the Castleton area, and a welcome addition to Indianapolis! I am confident that once Tapas N gets their liquor license, they will be very successful and obtain more business. The food alone is worth coming back to the restaurant. The food was pretty good, the reason for the 3 stars. Needed salt. Something to note - there is absolutely NO alcohol. So it's not really fair to call themselves a "cozy place with a curated wine list." Having no alcohol isn't the end of the world but saying you have it and not is another thing. Additionally, the wait time was very very long last night - we had reservations and waiting 25 min to be sat. The line stayed long all night. Again, long wait time isn't always bad, but there was no acknowledgment to the line all night. No "I'm sorry we'll be with you soon." Absolutely nothing. A line of at least 6 people was present all night. That being said, there were only a few servers and they did their best, once sat, to be fairly quick and timely, despite being very busy. This new spot, while located in a less-than-ideal area and sharing a building with a liquor store, was a pleasant surprise. They didn't have their liquor license yet during our visit, so no sangria, and there's no gazpacho on the menu, but despite that, the food was quite good. Sometimes I hate writing a great review because I never want to have to wait to get into a great place but I was so excited to try this restaurant and I was not disappointed. All of the food we tried was fantastic, had the goat cheese and tomato dip, mushroom caps, empanadas, beef skewers, and churro cake. They have Spanish wines which I loved. Our only critique was since the skewers are small pieces they were a little over cooked for our taste but the sauce and onions with them made them still very good! We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday, and since she loves paella, this was the perfect place. Although the restaurant has only been in business for three months and didn't have its liquor license, which was a bit disappointing since tapas are always great with sangrias, the experience was still enjoyable. We were in the castleton area and noticed Tapas N and decided to give it a try. Oh my God--what a good idea that was! The food is amazing. We figured we'd order three items and then see how hungry we were. The Empanada Toledo -- fantastic. Such light pastry with the perfect mix of mushroom and tenderloin inside and the sauce complemented it perfectly. The croquetas - breaded ham and chicken on rich tasty sauce. And then the bacon-wrapped dates. Oh so good. Well, after that full meal, we ordered more!!! The meat balls - lamb and beef, maybe pork too, covered in a rich tasty sauce with a mild amount of heat and almond slices. The Pollo N - chicken breast over angel hair pasta in a light, lemon cream sauce and to top it off the beef tenderloin skewer. The sauces on everything were really perfectly done. Our server was the owner. He was really the only person working front of house. He was hustling and he was killing it. Tremendous service. The location is right next to a liquor store which is kind of weird, but the inside is well-decorated yet simple and inviting. They don't have a liquor license yet so the bar area looks incomplete, but you can tell it's a work in progress. Tapas N is going to be a place we go once a month. We started with the Albondigas and the croquettas- both very tasty. We moved on to the artichokes with jamon- an outstanding dish! This place was not good. I do not recommend. -Ambiance is not good. This is in a building that looks like it may have been a Pizza Hut before. Building is half liquor store and half restaurant which doesn't make for a good look. Music was too low. Lamp on table didn't turn on, and my chair was broken. -They didn't have alcohol. Five of us gathered for a fun night out to celebrate a friend's birthday. When they said their alcohol license had expired it was a real downer. The waiter mentioned that they did have sangria though. I was excited to hear that until he added that it was non alcoholic. -The food was expensive and was not authentic Spanish cuisine. This was definitely the most disappointing part of the night. It seemed like there was a lack of understanding of what Spanish food is. The jamón serrano was fatty and cheap with no flavor. Two of us questioned if it was actually jamón serrano. And the manchego cheese was off. Manchego is my go to cheese and I don't think this was Manchego. The cheese was laid out as thin squares of cheese like a slice of cheese you'd buy from a deli. Manchego is always cut into triangles. It was incredibly disappointing and seemed like they were making false claims. -After eating some tapas, one of my friends ordered paella. They informed us it would be 35-45 minutes. Why you would you not tell your customers about that important detail when they sit down as an FYI in case they wanted paella? For example, when you go to Giordano's they tell you when you sit down that if you want deep dish pizza it will take 45 minutes. -The food was overpriced. -Overall this was a disappointing experience and was even worse since I was with a group of friends. I feel bad when I can tell the people I'm with aren't enjoying their time. Between the not so great food and the ambiance it wasn't enjoyable. I won't be back. read more

The interiors of this place is beautiful, which is what drew me in to try their food. Unfortunately, the food was not as great. We ordered the Paella Del Mar; there wasn't much flavor to it. It had an overbearing seafood fishy taste; we couldn't enjoy the dish. The dish had mussels, clams, shrimp, large calamari tentacles that were still slimy, small scallops. The rice was mushy. For the price, I was expecting something better. The skirt steak dish was actually pretty good. The dish was served on a dessert plate sized dish. I wasn't a fan of the empanada, it tasted like it was over seasoned with something. I was very underwhelmed with the flavors of the food compared to the price of everything. It might be a good place for others, but not for me. Keep in mind, the portions are very small here. Service was excellent! read more

This is a new restaurant that opened about a month ago. Do be put off by the Liquor sign on the roof, they share the building with a retail liquor store. The ambience is relaxed and not in our face. There is an "upper" level seating with a glass ceiling which makes it bright. There was no alcohol served as they are waiting for the permit to be approved. We ordered 7 tapas for 4 adults. One was an appetizer that came out first. I would recommend starting with one tapas each to start and add more based on how full one gets after sharing. The beef tenderloin with mash potatoes was a two large portions of meat, very tender. The artichoke dish with serrano ham was a ample portion to share. 3 large stuffed mushrooms, we cut in half and passed around was also very good. The beef tenderloin skewer with horseradish was bland without the sauce. We did have room for dessert and shared the flan which was really creamy and to die for. Our waiter Jonathan was friendly, efficient and professional. The only drawback to the evening was the music-the disco beat from the songs selected was a distraction and took away from the experience. Also, plan ahead if you are going to order the paella as it takes 35 to 40 minutes to prepare. Based on what the table next to us ordered, we will definitely order the Del Mar style to have done when we arrive. read more
