Taps & Barrels is a place with a lot of potential. The layout seems to encourage a lot of community with long tables meant for sharing with friends and strangers. There's also a nice couch section with a round center table where I saw a group of friends enjoy their visit. If you're into sports, there's several televisions around the perimeter that provide good view of the action. As my first time here, the staff is very kind in explaining how the process works. I was told that you can enter your phone number and then it allows you to scan the QR code on the table for food. The alternative is to walk up to the front counter to order. I wanted to learn how to do this process so I tried. I added the food item to the cart on my phone but when it came to checkout, I was unsure how to proceed. It asked me to add a credit card, yet I already had one opened on file for my visit. I went back up to the front and the team member was unsure so we handled the entire food ordering up front. I put in an order for the chili nachos and the size was quite decent with a lot of toppings. It's a good shareable to start. I also tried the sweet potato fries which I asked for more well done to ensure that they come out with some crisp. The sweet potato fries were actually a waffle and they did come out nice, hot and crispy - so that is a winner of an app! The pour yourself concept is interesting and it's nice that each sign provides information about the content and more info if you tap the screen - such as the general beer taste description. The glass shelf has several options. I didn't see any cold glasses which would have been a plus. The staff member said that you can sample beers by just pouring a little, but there were no small shot glasses to do this. Therefore, I was compelled to just go for it and pour 3 ounces to try a light lager. Sitting back at the table, I was almost certain that a new glass would be required for each visit. However, I saw everyone bring their own glass back up to refill each time. I didn't see any clear signage on site that explained the process. If refills are allowed - then I think that additional signage should also explain pouring etiquette as well. There's a water station for self serve as well. I appreciate the lids and straws that are also at the station. I would have loved to have some ice readily available but I'm sure it's probably just an ask as I saw others have ice in their drinks. The pricing per ounce reminds me of a self serve yogurt place in that the amount you get actually feels more expensive in the end. The per ounce feel makes you think it's a good deal, but it's on par or a hair over other places that pour for you. Overall, I think this is a cool concept to try and to show out of town friends if they don't have anything like this in their area. Also - I can see this being a great place if friends are going dutch as they can use their own card and everyone is responsible for their share. **This review is for the beer and pour-your-own system only ** Generally, I'm not keen on pour-your-own beer bars but my wife and I were in the area and wanted to grab a beer. They had some stuff I haven't tried so figured it would be neat to check out. The glassware, taps and wall appeared clean but glassware style and size options were lacking and no indication of when the lines were last cleaned. Would be nice to have some 5oz "taster" glasses as an option at the least. Also, no offer of instruction on how to pour the beer (although I'm well versed in the proper pour) didn't inspire confidence that people weren't reusing glasses or touching the spouts while pouring. Beer didn't pour well on most taps, and one of the kegs kicked leaving me with a bunch of foam. Beer prices were a little high per ounce compared to a pint around town, but the fact you can pour almost any size pour means you'll pay a little extra. Options were decent with some beers I've not seen elsewhere in town. Overall, it's not a spot I'd visit again unless there was some special beer I couldn't find anywhere else in the city. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday night, and this was my 2nd time here which was so opposite from the first time I came here. The vibes were a lot more chill and all TVs were on and playing different sporting events: MLB, NFL, and NBA. The last time I was here on a Friday night there was a small party happening and live music. Lots of parking with indoor and outdoor seating, including high top seating and couch seating. We were helped by Vance who was friendly and very helpful with recommending beers and food to try. He recommended the Beerhouse Flatbread with prosciutto & fig, which was 10/10 exactly what we needed to drink our beers with. There's a wide range of beers, ciders, seltzers, and wines to choose from on the wall. I love pressing the info button on the screens to learn more about what I am drinking. I also love that it's a self-pour with different glasses so that you can control how much you want to pour. This is a great place for someone to try different things, especially if you're not sure what you like. As a beer and cider person, I would say that every drink that I had here was great with lots of choices for people who don't drink beers/ciders regularly. So yummy!! I am personally not a huge beer fan, but I'm so glad we tried this place out! It's like yogurtland meets beer and there's a large variety to choose from. You get a card, grab a glass, place the card in the designated area, and self serve from their rotation of flavors. I really liked being able to taste a bunch of different flavors without committing to a whole 8oz glass. Some stand outs for me were the Ube and Guava flavors, so yummy but on the sweet side. Prices varied and were per ounce, but I'd say most were around $0.75 an ounce with some on "sale" as low as $0.30 an ounce. We tried a lot of food dishes too from the nachos to the mexican corn dip to the wings and all of it was soo delicious!! Definitely on the pricier side, but I'd say most of it was shareable. They do have happy hour Monday-Friday for the drinks and various food happy hours throughout the week, so I'd take advantage of those. The interior is really open with lots of long tables to accommodate big groups. There's a few board games to check out behind the cashier. And the outdoor patio is great too. It's very upscale outside with water features and fire pits. Last but not least, the service here is great! Very friendly and accommodating. We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel very welcome and helped us out with extra plates and forks for the cake. The only qualm I have with this place is that it closes too soon! There was plenty of parking out front, and plenty of seating inside with tvs. The employee (I think Vance) was very friendly, helpful, and offered free tastings of a few of the beers. This is one of the only places in Vegas where you can get really a really interesting variety of beer, have as little or as much as you want so you can taste like 10 beers in a night, and also just have a rare find. Great Notion (our personal favorite), Drekker, Delirium, and many more including all the local favorites. They also have a variety of your staple beers, though if you're coming here you should really be seeking something different. They also have a few wines, ciders, and usually a hard kombucha or mead. Ming and Matt and the rest of the crew (sorry I don't remember everyone's names) have always taken great care of us and our friends. While it isn't the cheapest night out, you just can't get these beers anywhere else in Vegas, except maybe Player One. The food is kind of just what it is - nothing too complex, but I usually just get fries or wings when I'm here. Frankly, their butter board and charcuterie are very good but not cheap options. The outside area is always super chill, and dog friendly as well. I didn't even mention this is a self-serve tap bar (only one in Vegas). read more

Lighting was a little bright, but you could find yourself still able to be relaxed. Once the sun start to set the vibe was nice. I enjoyed trying the different beer. I'm more of a cider drinker and was expecting more in that area. Food was a bit over priced for not really being prepared in a full service kitchen. It was more like the heat up type of food. It's okay... beer was good but expensive. The salads were okay but basically a side salad for the price of a dinner salad. How can one ask for a tip when you are ordering and serving yourself? The tables and chairs are so uninviting. Don't bring grandma or grandpa or a short girlfriend because they can't sit in the tall seats. If you have any friends with physical disabilities you really can't eat or drink there. Even someone in their 20's won't sit and stay because the seating is so bad. Had 2 beers and 2 salads and it was over $60! I feel bad for the people that work there because no one is going to come in for much longer with how uncomfortable it is. I love the concept and I love the space but the price of the beer can sneak up on you really quickly and although they have a large selection, I didn't really find too many that I actually enjoyed. That being said, I would definitely come back here and try the food that is offered and some of the other drinks. It is in a beautiful new complex next to Basilico Italiano Ristorante and their gorgeous patio and the building's outdoor fountain complex, which, when the weather is good, is beautiful to walk around and hang out by. The concept is you connect a credit or debit card to a plastic card which you can then use to scan at any of the multiple taps and pout your own drinks. Taps and Barrel is a pretty unique location that isn't to common in Las Vegas, as far as I'm concerned. Once you arrive you go straight to the front and get a tap card. This tap card is attached to your card and you can go to any of the taps they have to fill any beer you like. They have multiple types of cups which are good for specific beers. But if you aren't too knowledgeable about it, just pick a cup that you think is cool. From there go down and just choose your beer. There's many selections, and you can pretty much try them all with just a tap of a card. One thing that is actually pretty cool is that they have a sake tap, usually more to the right. I like getting a cup of that plus like a lighter beer and you're good to go. Food wise they have a really good charcuterie. It's a big pretzel along side with meats and cheeses. The mustard is really good and the brie/fig combo is also great too. The environment is really chill as you can sit anywhere you'd like, including a couple of couches which is pretty comfortable. We brought our dog a few times so we had to sit outside, but the outside is pretty spacious as well. When you're done, all you have to do is drop your tap card in a tip bucket which indicates how much you'd like to tip. After that you're all done! read more

Taps & Barrels is a good spot to hang out and sample a variety of beers to find your favorite. They have a menu of bar foods as well. Find them in the Evora complex, a few doors down from Lemontree Cafe. There is plenty of parking right in front. Maybe that will change once the complex is complete, but for now it's easy to park. This place is huge! There are mostly long tables with a few individual tables too. It'd be a good spot for two or a group. They have one small arrangement of couches. Here's how it works. It's similar to other by the ounce beer and wine places. A whole wall is lined with beer taps. You start a tab at the counter, get a card, and place your card at each tap to dispense. Each tap tells you how much it is per ounce. Once you dispense the beer the screen will tell you how many ounces and the cost of your sample. Perfect for tracking alcohol consumption and cost! I prefer their system over similar concepts for one main reason. You have a tab instead of a preloaded card. So you don't have to debate how to best use your money, have extra, or need to load the card again. Just sample as little or as much and pay at the end. The beers are tried were good. They had a lot of local breweries and some national ones too. I've heard they rotate beers to keep it interesting. I had some of the usual beers, but also tried some unique beers. I really enjoyed a chai beer, a cucumber beer, and several fruit beers. The food was okay, but I thought it would be a little better quality given that they are in a high end complex. Nothing was awful or a deal breaker to returning. I appreciate the variety of options for snacking or a whole meal while enjoying the beers. My favorite of my two food items was the Beet Salad. It had nice greens, nuts, goat cheese, and a tasty dressing. The Fish & Chips were disappointing because I had hoped for something made in house. Taps & Barrels is officially opened! My husband and I have been waiting for them to open ever since we found out about them. Their concept is "pour it yourself"! They have a list of beers and you get to pour yourself a glass -- however much or however little you want. You pay by the ounce and the price depends on the type of beer it is. How it works is you go get a beer card first at the front. They will link your credit card to the beer card. Now using the beer card is how you will activate the pours. You place it into the card holders and wait for it to register, then you pour yourself a beer! It keeps track of how big your pour is and once you're done, it will give you the total dollar amount of your pour. For food, you just go to the front, order what you want and they will log it in your beer card. At the end, when you're ready to leave, just give them your beer card and just check out. Not into beer but your friends are? NP. They have two wines and a sake on rotation too! Their goal is to never have a certain beer on their list "forever." So I assume that once a keg runs out, they will switch it out for something different. They have a decent amount of selection with beers coming from different breweries. What made me extremely happy was that they had Blanche de Bruxelles on draft! I haven't seen that beer on draft since I first had it in NYC so many odd years ago. Additionally, no other places in Vegas have it on draft and now I can't even find the bottles at Total Wine. I am extremely excited to see what is in store for the future beer list. I am hoping they can get some more Belgian beers or maybe even Great Notion in their line up! That would be amazing! Right now, they are running a special. If you spend $20 on a GC or $20 on food, you will get their "Tuna Pizza" on the house. So my husband and I decided to share a fig & prosciutto pizza and got their "tuna pizza" as a gift. Their pizza crusts are frozen so they aren't made in house. The texture is decent and almost "cracker" like? The texture is definitely not for everyone. It's not bad and the taste of the pizza itself is pretty good. I really liked the flavors of the fig & prosciutto. Overall, definitely check it out if you like beer. They do have an updated list of their taps on their website so you can take a look to see if you wanna try any before you even head there. It can get pricey if you drink a lot but I think coming here for the variety is well worth it. The food is decent but a bit high on the price point but fries/chips are decently priced.
