We really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. The restaurant itself was very chill, seats were comfy, and it wasn't loud even though they were busy. The salmon entree was 100/10. Everything about it. We experienced two instances of food dietary restriction requests not being honors and service did not return to correct it after delivery. The food is not. It's 730 pm and the guacamole is brown and the tortillas are the cheap corn packages you can get at Lucky's grocery store. Ordered the fajitas. Beans felt out of the can, rice was hard, the meat had 0 seasoning and everything is portioned to the thinnest degree. Not to mention I no hot sauces on the table, had to track down a knife, and they skimp horrible on sauce up the tacos. Will Not let you order just a single taco. Even though I'm giving this visit a 3-star review, I'll keep coming back...**The grilled shrimp tostada bites are just THAT good.** The beet and Gorgonzola taco with carne asada was delicious as well. Service: the host was kind enough to check on dessert availability before seating us and we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was kind and tried to include my daughters in conversation by asking them about what they had bought at Claire's (the location is connected to the mall.) The dessert and price weren't as impressive. Price: I love the tacos and creative menu, but $12 for two tacos is steep especially considering you can get superior tacos for $3-4. I went here for a work lunch with a group of 7 showing up around 12 and they were able to accommodate us fairly quickly. The vibes are fun here with big TVs on the walls with sports on. Our server Srijan was awesome. He brought a lot of energy and was great about checking in on us. One person in our party got the horchata and liked it. They also have Mexican Coke which I think is a fun treat especially since they are a Pepsi establishment. I didn't get a soda, but my coworker was happy with his Diet Dr Pepper. The food itself was mostly good. We started with queso and guac which were both good. They bring out chips and tortillas with the queso. They have flour and corn options. One person in our party is gluten free, so it was nice to have GF options that are labeled. I got the PBLTA tacos and the flavor was really good but the pork belly was incredibly dry. This was my first time eating at this location. Possibly this restaurant all together, since I don't usually like authentic Mexican food. But this is where my son wanted to go for his birthday dinner. So we met after work. His birthday was on a Monday so unfortunately, their restaurant closes at 8 o'clock. We did not get there till 715. And my son did not get there till 730. So we have even less time to eat. But we had already ordered an appetizer and we're enjoying that while we waited. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He never made us feel rushed, but we could tell he was trying to clean up so he could go home. We all enjoyed our meals, and I will probably come back. I love this place. They offer so many gluten free options and take it seriously whether it's Celiac Disease or an allergy. My favorite dish is the grilled chicken enchiladas covered in their delicious green chile mole. They even have their own version of gluten free donuts, which are basically churro-style bites dusted in Mexican chocolate sugar with whipped cream and chocolate sauce on the side. Unreal. Their duck confit tacos are my absolute favorite! The crispy leek strings just elevate them to a whole different level. I decided to try something new and I was not disappointed. I got their taco of the day and I can't remember what they called it, but it had carne asada meat with French fries and a spicy aioli. The French fries sold me and these were so good! I normally prefer tacos with corn tortillas, but wow these were just so tasty! The aioli had good spice and the fries weren't crispy, but not soggy either. The Chile - Citrus Carnitas tacos were okay. They had good flavor but were a bit dry. The salsa helped! The roasted guacamole tasted a lot like avocado toast with the balsamic reduction. Wasn't too impressed with this restaurant. I w been to other Taqueria 27 and this is my least favorite. The service was extremely slow and the food wasn't very good. I understand we're still living in COVID times, and there's a staff shortage, but to wait 40 minutes for food is a little ridiculous. Couple of my friends ordered the pork Chile verde tacos. For instance, the carne asada taco with fries and chimichurri is a favorite of mine, and the chipotle duck and grilled pear tacos both sound intriguing as well. This location has a small outdoor patio dining section in addition to the main indoor seating area. Everything was clean, and the time between ordering and receiving the food was pretty standard (though the kitchen made one dish incorrectly for our table). I'd recommend it as a good spot around the Fashion Place Mall area, though it wouldn't be one of my go-to options in the Salt Lake area for tacos. read more

What we got: T27 Classic Sampler - 5* worth it. Glad for the overall experience and let me rank how I liked the 4 samples: Guacamole - 4.5* we got the special and it had balsamic vinegar, pear, and blue cheese (I think, I'm writing this in retrospect). It was such a burst of flavor and a pure joy to consume. Mild salsa - 4* we were too scared to try the hot spicy but maybe next time, this mild one wasn't bad at all! Queso fundido - 5* and more. I'd definitely get this one it's own next time like my friend did because I could've had more. JR's street corn - 4*. I'm glad it didn't come on a cob (not a huge corn on the cob fan). This also made it easier to share with the table and fun to scoop up with the chips. Achiote Marinated Fried Chicken Breast - 3* average fare, nothing exceptional. Grilled Pears and Roasted Beets - 4* surprisingly good. I loved the pears and the beets weren't overpowering. I'm also a huge fan of balsamic which they use in their sauce. First time here and did not really know why to expect. I was able to try out their sampler platter which has queso, corn, salsa and guac. I loved that they had multiple kinds of guac available. We ended up ordering the gauc of the day which had some pineapple in it and it was delicious. The salsa we ordered was spicy option. I personally didn't think it was spicy at all, it had more of a mole' flavor to it if anything. Still good in a different way. I ended up ordering fish tacos if the day- mine happened to be salmon which I ordered fried. I've never had fried salmon before. It was pretty good, I wish they added more sauce on the taco because it ended up being a little dry. My husband got the duck confit tacos which had roasted corn and grilled green onions those tacos were pretty tasty. I think if I ever come here I'll have to try the other tacos! Food was about a 7/10 I think tacos were a little too dry for me and salsa needed a little more flavor. Definitely will have to try something else when I come again. I know Taqueria 27 is a fan favorite to most, but I'm on the fence about it. Specifically on this last visit where the food was okay (not great) but the service was all over the place. Our waiter was friendly, but frazzled. Maybe they were understaffed, but we felt like our waiter wasn't very attentive. I think he checked on us once. We ordered a lot of food and asked for it to be brought out at staggered times...and then all of it arrived at once. Which isn't the worst thing in the world, but it made space at the table very limited. The one thing that almost didn't come out was the dessert we ordered. We reminded our server and he suggested we order ice cream with it. The ice cream came out and then we waited...and waited...for the churros to show up. Overall, we weren't overly impressed with Taqueria 27. We still had a good time, but we probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

Wow! Certainly some of the best tacos I've had in Utah. Their menu has so many fantastic items to choose from. We started with the JR's Street corn. Chipotle-roasted corn with sauce and tortilla chips. Mmm it was a beautiful starter. For tacos, I got the pork belly and the angus carne asada. The food was ok, you don't get very much so we ended up eating it all (no rice or beans with the tacos, no salsa with the guacamole). When we first arrived, there were people inside eating but the doors were locked. After a few minutes of trying to get someone's attention, I called so they could let us and other people in who couldn't get the doors open. Our server never checked on us, and after waiting for about 15 minutes for our check, we went to the front and he brought it after being asked. No "I'm sorry for the wait", he just dropped off the credit card machine and then he and the woman at the front desk left. I had to reach around to the desk to grab our check since they just left us there. Very strange experience. We had a really nice waitress. She helped us find exactly what we wanted because we were struggling a little bit at first, deciding what to order. she helped us build an appetizer with two guacamole choices and two salsa choices. Both guacamole dishes did not taste very well seasoned. They both needed salt and kind of just tasted like mashed up avocados instead of guacamole. The mango guac with the Tahin was good, but you could pretty much just taste Tahin. The mild salsa was pretty much just pico de gallo and didn't have much flavor but it was good. We ended up getting a refill with the Verde medium salsa and that one was much better. Both medium salsa's were good and not too spicy I loved that the chips were served hot and they were very fresh tasting. I was a little disappointed in the marinated fried chicken burrito. There was not very much meat in it. It seemed like it was mostly other feelings, and it needed more sauce/salsa as well. That being said, it was still satisfying, and I enjoyed it, I was just hoping it would be better. The Carne Asada tacos were delicious. Very good flavor and the crispy potatoes (french fries) made it yummy. The restaurant is a hole it was clean, and our waters were always filled. It was a nice environment to eat in. I've always seen this place, never went. Always wanted to try. Totally worth going. Is it authentic? Not really, but it's still yummy. The interior decoration was weird. It was a mixture of everything, and not really one theme. I guess their interior designer couldn't decide what they want to do so just a bit of everything. Service here was weird. Kind of lacking. We came in, got seated, got prompt service immediately, but after that our waiter decide to speak to the hostess instead. I got their beef tacos, and their pork belly tacos. The beef tacos is my favorite. The pork belly after the first one, it got way too much and fatty for me. I do recommend added some salt cause it's lacking seasoning. Still yummy but something was lacking. I recommend getting their salsa. It's really good. I recommend getting a hotter one, cause the medium or mild literally has no spicy taste to it. I was expecting a little bit more for my first visit , but was a little underwhelmed. The title states "tacos", so I should have ordered the tacos. I went burrito style, and that was a mistake. Burrito didn't have the usual (beans, melted cheese vs. cold cheese- carne asada had good flavor ). Wife had the pork belly tacos and it was tasty. We had the fried ice cream- wow, so good. Pork Belly, Carne Asada, Buffalo Chicken...the tacos are all delicious. The chips & different guacs and then all of the margaritas are the perfect additions to any meal. It's fun to try all the different flavors, and keeps you coming back time & time again. This location, though, seems colder & less welcoming than the others. The decorations are sparse, the tables are farther from one another, the ceilings are super high... it's just not the warm, inviting, higher-end taco joint like the other locations. It feels like.........well, it feels like it's attached to a mall. ;) The service was also just.. ok. The gentlemen helping us was certainly nice enough, but he appeared to be the only one working & thus wasn't able to be very attentive. (My water glass sat empty for over 10 minutes before I finally flagged him down to ask for more - which came another 5 minutes after that.) I was very disappointed with my meal. It seemed that the front of the house was disorganized and untrained. My waiter was a nice friendly person but was not trained to handle the work. In other words it wasn't his fault. My food was just ok and we were informed when we were ordering that there was no lettuce with which to make salads. We had to request everything from hot sauces to water. I was a regular customer of their Foothill location and it really seems to have gone downhill. Taqueria 27 is an upscale hipster taco restaurant with earthy, artsy interiors claiming to source local, sustainable freshest ingredients to make their tacos and charging a premium for all of that. Yes, here you can order tacos that will look cool for your Instagram. Pero taste? There are certainly other places to eat tacos that taste better and cost less. read more
