Tacos here were a late night option for us and they were pretty good. We got chorizo, steak, carnitas and lengua tacos. You have to ask for the salsa. They offer both red and green and in my opinion the green salsa was way better--I'm not a fan of the smoky red salsas. The guy taking the order was a little rude and did get our order wrong but ended up giving us an extra taco. All in all I would go back if I was in the area and had a late night taco craving. read more

My husband and I were house hunting and we ran into this hole in the wall with no restaurant space. You can sit at the two tiny tables that are set up right by the sidewalk. The food was simple, delicious, and cheap (1 torta, 3 tacos, 2 Mexican sodas for $17.50). Everything is cooked to order, so they all came out very flavorful. The old couple that run the place are the sweetest people on earth. wowsers! this place is YUM YUM. after living in san diego for 6 years, i am a total snob about those delicious tex-mex/mexican savory flavors. it has taken me 4 years in nyc to find something in these categories worth eating. apparently i wasn't looking in the right place. bushwick is where it's AT! this place has a wide variety of meats and preparations to choose from. i usually get the al pastor or chorizo tacos, huaraches or quesadillas. though, their chorizo has nothing on the tortilla factory on starr (by the jefferson L), its still quite tasty. but the al pastor, wow. it's roasted on a rotisserie and is a combination of all the things you would want in pork--juicy, crispy, greasy, savory, a little sweet. it literally melts in your mouth. top that off with their salsa verde, which has avocado blended in, and you have a taco that rivals my love for the san diego burrito. and that is hard to do! kudos! read more

Don't let the middling review scare you off- these guys most definitely make the best tacos in my neighborhood. The only trouble (and this is the only reason I'm giving them 4-stars versus 5) is that it's a really small space, with a really small kitchen, and a really small staff.. so if they're busy, you're gonna need to be patient. read more

I have to say that I wasn't really impressed with this place. I was very happy they had so many vegetarian options (huitlacoche, rajas, nopales, poblano peppers, etc) - mostly quesadillas or tacos, although vegan options aren't tremendous. I got a big order through them to cater at a school event and most adults liked the quesadillas although the kids thought the cactus and pepper fillings were "weird". I'm vegan so I didn't have them. I ordered a huge order of pico de gallo to serve with chips, along with some guacamole. A lot of people at the event thought it was the best guac they've ever had (including a woman who I suspect has never had Mexican food and is totally unfamiliar with it) but I thought it was pretty average. I will say that the pico de gallo was the worst pico I've ever had and we ended up throwing out probably 2 gallons worth of it. It was NOT the pico de gallo that you serve with chips, which is the pico I've had in pretty much every Mexican restaurant I've ever had. It was huge chunks of tomato - and even huger chunks of onion, to the point that it was simply unpleasant to eat. There was some cilantro but it lacked flavor overall. The tomatoes were bland, there wasn't enough salt or garlic, and the flavors hadn't marinated at all. It was more like chunky tomato and onion filling for a burrito than it was actual salsa. Very disappointing. The service was very friendly and accommodating but I don't think I'll eat here again. read more

Even when you're ordering on the phone they take like 10 minuets to take your order down and when you go to pick it up and ask if the food is ready they give you an attitude for asking. Food here is inconsistent. Depending on which employee is working, there is a high possibility that they won't know much english. My first time trying this place, I ordered 2 mango shakes along with other things, online. So I decided to do pickup and get one because it was great. I ordered my food, asked if the shake was in there (they said yes), made sure to check my bag and of course it wasn't. Upon asking about the shake again, the guy proceeded to just say and nod no as if they don't carry it. Of course later on, I remembered that I know the Spanish word for shake, but was still disappointed. Yes, English is difficult to learn and NYC is a tough place to get acclimated to sometimes, but if you're going to work around English speaking people, you need to AT LEAST know the English relevant to your job. Know all menu items in English, know ingredient names in English. Overall, this place's food isn't a bad option. There seem to be quite a few mexican spots in this general area and I'm really curious about how they stack up to Acatlan. read more

Order said it would be delivered between 12:50PM-1PM. It didn't come until 2PM. It was an order for about 15 people in an office building. The delivery man came on a bike and the food was all over the place. The sauce that was on the Adobo Pollo was spilling out and all over the bag. We were also missing 2 items from the order. When we called to tell them about the missing items, they insisted that they put one of them in the bag for sure. They did not. We paid over $160 for an order and you're going to argue with us? I order from this place all the time and the food has always been great and the prices reasonable. However, today I ordered over the phone and I guess there was a bit of a misunderstanding over the price because she told me one price over the phone and the delivery boy told me another. Just a few dollars more so it was really no big deal but she DID tell me a different price. I proceeded to give the delivery boy 40 dollars and he didn't have enough change and ran off to find some then came back and said "I only have 16" (My change was to be 17 and some change). I said that was okay since I was going to tip him anyway but before I was able to get a word in he just ran off. He didn't give me 16, he actually gave me 15. Again, no big deal but at least be honest and professional about it. 3 stars on the food, 1 and 1/2 stars for customer service.
