The gentleman returned to enjoy the food and savor the traditional dishes from the state of Durango, Mexico. Visiting this place in Chicago was definitely the right decision. I went during my lunch break. I ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla with everything on it and two tripe tacos. Everything was reasonably priced. You do get a decent amount of protein. The quesadilla is not as big as I expected it to be. It was a regular size of a small tortilla. The flavor of the quesadilla was so good. The green sauce was not spicy but it paired very well with the quesadilla. The tripe tacos were delicious. You can request for them to be crispy or regular. I did ask for onions and cilantro to be put onto my order. They did just that and it was not extra. I got two green sauces with my order. I will be going back. Everything was delicious. Perfectly cooked. I did order my food to go, but they did have a nice size restaurant where you can dine in. The service was proficient. The ambience is very modern. I do wish it looked a bit more traditional inside of there. They do have a wide variety of food and dessert. Desserts in there. I definitely will be back! read more

I stopped in for tacos and drinks with my brother one after afternoon. It wasn't crowded so we found a seat easily and ordered fairly quickly. The waitress came over to hand us menus and take our drink order. I had a paloma and my brother had a margarita. The drinks were decent. We also both ordered carne asada tacos which were okay. My bro liked them more than I did. The chips and salsa were average as well. The bill was about $40 tip included. The restaurant was disorganized and completely chaotic. Orders were taken and lost. Attempts were made, after non-delivery of the ordered meal to charge for food not received, despite waiting for over an hour and a half, while other tables emptied, refilled and emptied again. I really enjoy the chilaquiles here with eggs over medium. This dish is delicious. The green salsa is amazing and they make the best eggs just right. I also like unit their Barbacoa tacos, which I believe are only offered on Sundays. They sell out pretty early so you have to get them asap on Sundays. While visiting my Grandparents' old house in Blue Island, a 20-year local there told us to try this Taqueria, calling it "the 3rd best one in all of Chicago" (after ones on something like 47th and 18th Streets, in the city). We must agree! What a STELLAR surprise find. We really live sopes, which are hard to find (in SoCal), and these were the BEST we've ever had. Fast service. Here is the best Mexican place in Blue Island. It can seem a lot of these kind of places are ramshackle, but this is like fine dining compared to a few of these that are nearby. Taqueria Durango is the best, especially true for vegetarians. Has a few healthy choices. You can get real margaritas and good shit beyond just tacos. Came in with a female friend. It was getting into the evening hours. That meant it was time for some happy hour specials. Both of us got margaritas. It's $9 at the normal price. These were a little bit less for the happy hour though. Has a few flavors to choose from. I had mango. She had pineapple. Also the food is very good. We both had a Vegetarian Torta. It's about $6 for a pretty big one. This comes with avocado, beans, cheese, lettuce, rice, sour cream, and tomatoes. Vegans leave off the dairy, and it will be good too. I liked mine a lot. The same thing for hers and she ate it like a pig. Good stuff to drink and eat. It has real tasting authentic margaritas. The tortas ate my favorite and they can make these for vegans and vegetarians. read more

I just ate here for the first time in probably a decade or more. Although I remembered it being good I was almost hesitant to try it due to the reviews on here. This is a good example of why I try to remember that the bulk of people who are compelled to write a review are unreasonable and have some kind of axe to grind so unless most of the reviews are negative it's usually worth trying yourself. It's definitely not deserving of any of the reviews on here below 2 stars. The food is fairly good. Not amazing by any means but better than average. And it is certainly quite authentic unless you specify in your order that you want it in a more American style. The service was normal. The place is big and clean and has adequate parking. The prices are very reasonable. There is literally nothing to complain about. There's also nothing to rave positively about. Parking is generous in this area which is a plus and seems fairly like new remodeling. I was escorted to a table and was confused if I needed to order up front or wait for a waitress. I managed to order - I would recommend reading it from the counter as the handout menu's were hard to read. I ordered a variety of proteins such as beef, pork (fried / stewed). They were good. Decent food, we've been customers for years. We enjoy picking up Pozole on weekends, but last Saturday my husband picked up and there was no pozole in the gallon we bought. There was only meat and no hominy grains. My husband called to let them know and asked to speak to the owner, but was told the "owner was too busy". No apology no offer to call back nothing.
