Unfortunately I don't see how they can be open much longer. We ordered the paco bowl, the dip trio, and the chile relleno. They didn't have guacamole. How? They refunded our dip trio, but the queso and salsa tasted from a jar. The paco bowl was bland and didn't appear fresh with a giant glob of beans in the middle. The chile relleno was entirely absent. No offense to the lovely ladies who served us because they were actually wonderful. Even the art and decor are great! However, the food was horrible. It tastes like Gordon food service, I ordered the fajita and the chicken and steak were definitely not fresh but frozen from a bag and probably preseasoned. The salsa wasn't salsa, it was some kind of sauce from a can or jar I think. For having a sign that reads Poco's Authentic Mexican Cuisine, it's probably the most inauthentic I've ever had. Why don't they season their meat or salsa? So bland and disgusting. The tortilla chips sort of tasted like those air popped popcorn chips... weird. We got a large beef and cheese quesadilla, the taco bowl, and a small beef and cheese quesadilla to go. Oh and queso. The size difference between quesadillas was huge. I feel icky after this food. My first time visiting inside since the pandemic of 2020 hit. Paco's is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, with dine-in Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. That said, their take-out business continues to be brisk. I always eat in, so other than observing the "to go" orders, I can't comment further on that aspect of the business. Upon walking in the front door, I immediately noticed an improved decor. Splashes of new paint everywhere, updated booths and tabletops, new flooring - they were busy during their downtime. The menu is pretty much the same, with price increases on a few items. I experienced excellent service during my meal. The meal was very much like I remember from a year and a half ago. Absolutely the worst Mexican food I have ever . The help ignored me for 10 minutes while they were cleaning the glass counter by the register. I don't feel this place deserves 3 stars. It's actually pretty good. I'm a sucker for the thinner, light fresh salsa which I found very good. I've never dined in and always order carry out. The service for carry out was always excellent. I had a combination plate which was good. The enchilada was super cheesy, yum. The mini burrito sure was small, but it was part of the combination so I don't feel it was a problem. I really liked the beans. My favorite item out of the combination was the taco. Overall I was pleased with the carry out and will go back to try other items for sure. I guess if I had one complaint would be to have them add a small portion of chips with the dinners. You get them for free when dinning in and carry out you have to pay extra for containers which is fine but help us out and add a few chips. read more

when we lived in Mt Clemens we went to Paco's every Saturday for years and NEVER had bad food or service. when we'd pulled in the drive way if they saw us they'd start our order. we moved to CO 12 years ago but when we go back to MI Paco's is our stop several times and nothing has changed. same great food and service and always clean. even the coffee's good. my husband was recently there and brought me back 2 (frozen) trays of cheese enchiladas. to die for. while there the family all got combo plates and said everything was as good as ever. not sure what 'authentic' mexican food is but Paco's is the best ethnic food we've ever had. if YOU have a problem they will fix it, unless YOU'RE the problem. I like this place! I really do, just a few issues. First, they are CASH ONLY which is a horrible business decision (their is no logical explanation of not have a credit card machine). They do have an ATM inside however which recovers a little bit of their loss clientele. Second, they do NOT have a liquor license, so don't expect a margarita. I understand a liquor license is expensive, however it's a necessity for a Mexican restaurant. Bring cash. Not only is this place over-priced, they are cash only. They also don't serve alcohol and they charge for refills of soda. Any change to your order is nickel and dimed. We went in optimistic. Our optimism was quickly overshadowed by the loud overhead religious music and interjecting Christian sermons. It didn't seem appropriate, comfortable, or entirely welcoming but we decided to overlook it with the hopes of enjoying some good Mexican close to our home-even if it did have tone-deaf Cinco de Mayo decorations lining the walls. ‍ They also have a "Gringos" section on their menu which seemed weird. (It's a derogatory term for foreigners in parts of Latin America) We are now entirely regretful that we didn't turn around and walk out after seeing a "cash only" sign on the door. My husband had burritos while I had tacos. His supreme burrito dinner has caused him gastrointestinal pain since shortly after we left. Later in the evening, it became clear he has food poisoning. This food was NOT worth it. The ground beef was pretty flavorless. The salsa was literally tomato sauce, salt, onion, garlic powder, and red chili flakes. Our server wasn't friendly. My mom always recommended this place to me because she grew up in the area. I finally gave it a try and was not disappointed! The waitress was fantastic and so was the food! I got a supreme burrito..next time I feel like eating terribly I will get it deep fried! No shade here people..just the truth! They had Mountain Dew which I love! (So they have pepsi products). Stopped in here the other day after not being here since high school so we are talking a good 20 years. It was super busy to the point I had to park on the road due to no parking on the road. After waiting for 20 minutes they brought my carry out of chicken enchiladas and rice and one beef taco. The enchiladas where so good probably the best I've had. Because after we ordered our drinks, we found on the front and back of the menu a note that they accept cash only--not on a large sign at the entrance, not on a noticeable stand where you check-in, not on the menu pages where the dine-in menu is. When we found the note, we decided to pay for our drinks and go elsewhere. The (nice) waitress pointed out that there was an ATM. Like I'm going to pay a service fee for the privilege of eating there when I can get cash back for eating somewhere else. All in all, we paid $5.04 for an iced tea and a hot tea. In the past 3 years or so, Pacos has elevated their prices, inasmuch that its not a great deal to eat there anymore. Before the price hikes, 2 people could eat lunch there for $8. The last time I went with my lunch date (and Ive been getting the same thing for years), the bill came to $20. You also are only allowed 1 refill on your beverage and the last I checked I think a pop was raised $2.75. A side of sour cream is $1 and its a little bitty spoonful. Honestly,as much as Ive been a loyal Pacos fan since ~2001, I'd rather go to El Charro because at least at El Charro you get some mexican-type atmosphere. Onto the food. Its not 'authentic' mexican food. Its American-mexican (tex-mex). Either way, the quality of food is fair, not exceptional in any way. The servers are usually pleasant and the portions are decent. I recommend their enchiladas. I love their chicken quesadilla, but you might be in for a surprise - its not like a quesadilla Ive had anywhere else. Usually quesadillas are a shell filled with cheese (and meat if you so choose) and tomatoes, onions, etc. At Pacos, its just meat and (tons of) cheese, and jalopenos. You do not get a side plate of lettuce/onion/tomatoes, or even sour cream (that costs extra). The atmosphere of the restaurant is what you'd expect for a budget, read: what Pacos used to be, american mexican restaurant. The obligatory red seats, a sombrero hanging up by the register, just in case you forgot Mexicans wear sombreros. Its usually chilly in the restaurant in the wintertime, so keep that in mind. As said by other reviewers, its CASH ONLY but Pacos has recently added an ATM machine inside the restaurant, behind the register wall. I gave Pacos 3 stars because I liked the old Pacos better.
