A coworker and I went here for lunch. There were two other customers there. We ordered queso, two Chimichanga meals and I ordered a Coke. The queso was served cold. We had to request that it be heated up. The chimichangas were good. I was not warned that my Coke was in a glass bottle that it would cost me over $4! Our server only came by our table once, and that was when we got his attention to heat the queso. We went here based on a recommendation by a friend, but I'm not sure if I would give them another try or not.

I have been here a couple times, outside of their unique and fun drinks, the food is amazing!! I've had the tacos, nachos, burritos but I think my favorite thing I've gotten is the fried fish!! It's so crispy and crunchy and SO FLAVORFUL! The service is fast and they're so kind. They will always be my favorite Mexican restaurant in North GA!!!

This place was beautiful!! My first time trying was in the area, and decided to go with my sister because she feeling like having a taste of Mexico. This place was a vibe we didn't expect it had a live band playing on the inside mind you that the smell of the food greets you at the door. We are outside and it gave a different vibe while hearing the band play as we ate those oysters that made us feel like we were in paradise because baby when I tell those OYSTERS ARE TO DIE FOR!!! I literally ate 6 to myself! The food was very authentic and I mean everything was fresh the guacamole, the chips, etc. We also had the mojitos they were amazing Stop by and get a taste you will be pleased

Food was great. Service was quick although our waitress at the bar seemed like she didn't want to wait on us at first . Drinks were strong but good. We did feel like a bit of a side show being the only Black people there. Everyone seemed confused lol but we would go back again.

My first time here and i was super impressed... Walked in and it was crowded, hardly no seats available, so I ended up sitting on the patio.. Food was super authentic, fresh, and the drinks are elite! The piña colada came inside of a whole pineapple and the margarita are good and came inside of a whole patron bottle.. Towards the end of the night they had the live Mexican band playing...

    Crab legs- don't do it

The seafood was not good. I went here cause I saw these girls on tik tok post it, but it is not worth the price. The juice tasted like vinegar and it was cold. The shrimp was nasty tasted boiled no seasoning. The crab leg was so pricey for it to taste so bad.. I literally wanted to cry leaving this place didn't even eat all My food and it was $86 just my plate.

Inside. The space is great for large groups like this.

Good food and great service is El Viejon Taqueria in a nutshell. From the outside, this place doesn't look like much. It looks like they took a black Sharpie and marked out the "y Cantina" part of the name, so they're no longer "El Viejon Taqueria y Cantina," but just "El Viejon Taqueria" now. They should do something about that sign. There's plenty of parking, but it's evident the freestanding building and parking lot have seen better days. Inside is a colorful Mexican restaurant and bar with lively music, TVs, and a welcoming waitstaff. On either end of the dining room are beautiful murals, one depicting Dia de Muertos and another of three Hispanic actresses. The interior has been renovated since the last time I was here (different restaurant). The space looks relatively new and clean. El Viejon opened in 2018 and replaced Las Palmeras Honduran Restaurant & Bar (http://bit.ly/386YEvb). Before that, this place was Restaurante Guatemala 2. I like what the current owners have done to the space. They've modernized and brightened it up. The restaurant has sturdy spiral-bound menus with helpful pictures of many dishes. They sell mini tacos for only $1.40 each, regular tacos for $2 each, and tacos with handmade tortillas for $3.20 each. They have most typical Mexican fare like tortas ($7.50-9.50 each) and quesadillas ($8.50 each). They also sell chicken, steak, and seafood entrees ($11.50-21.99 each for most dishes), breakfast beginning at 5:30am (!) (most breakfast items are less than $8 each), and they serve menudo and pozole (traditional Mexican soups, $14.99 each) on Saturdays and Sundays. Beverage-wise, they offer a variety of aguas frescas (e.g. horchata, jamaica, guayaba) and a decent selection of alcoholic drinks including beer, tequila, and various cocktails. I made a large group (15-20) reservation with Faviola. Shelley and Valentina took great care of us. Shelley spoke English well and was on top of everything. She started us off with drinks and complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were served in colorful baskets. The chips were the thicker, harder kind. Salsa: runny and mildly spicy. Not my favorite chips, but the salsa was good. They also gave us squeeze bottles of house salsa - one green and one red. The red salsa brought the heat. Four of us split a "Parrillada Estilo El Viejon," the restaurant's most expensive item at $45.99. The name's literal translation is "Barbecue Style El Viejon." It's a big platter that consists of many different components: steak, short rib, chicken, smoked sausage and carnitas with tomato, avocado, bell pepper, onion, cheese and hot sauce, bean and sausage soup, and warm tortillas. Definitely a smorgasbord of Mexican food. It easily fed the four of us. We had leftovers, but we also ordered some mini tacos to supplement. The platter was delicious and could be eaten in a number of ways such as making your own tacos or simply enjoying each meat by itself. My favorites were the short rib and smoked sausage. They were terrific. The short rib was the same type of meat that is used for Korean galbi, served on the bone. It was a little bit chewy, but nothing out of the ordinary and quite flavorful. The small sausage links were delectable. They were on the salty side, but otherwise very good and packed with flavor. My third favorite was the carnitas. Shredded, smoky pork. It was the exact same type of carnitas in the carnitas taco. Tender, moist, and tasty. The chicken was served in strips. Like the other meats, it had a smoky taste too and it was also fairly tender. The steak (carne asada) was OK. One thing I liked about the platter was it came with several spring onions with bulbs intact. Yum. Also, there was a whole ripe avocado included, sliced. All of the ingredients were fresh. Two foil-wrapped packs of tortillas were served with the platter and they came out hot. The bean and sausage soup was served in two small bowls. Also delicious. The center of the platter had a bowl with a red-orange hot sauce and cubes of soft white cheese. The cheese and sauce looked like an Indian curry/cheese dish. Shelley told us the sauce was made with tomato and jalapeno. It was spicy. Two people can order the Parrillada Estilo El Viejon and just take leftovers home to make more meals. Our table ordered a variety of dishes from chicken flautas to shrimp cocktails. Everyone seemed to enjoy everything. I didn't hear anything negative. The mini tacos are a great deal. They were served the traditional way with chopped onion and cilantro on double-layer corn tortillas. The tacos were also served with slices of grilled onion. The shrimp cocktail was served with Mexican-brand Gamesa Saladitas saltine crackers. Additionally, we ordered a bunch of margaritas. The bar was out of margarita mix the night of our visit (Wednesday) so they served skinny margaritas instead. You can check out the current beer selection in the fridges behind the counter.

These tacos were exactly what I needed, just about when I needed them. I ordered three tacos, but prob could have eaten 30 lol. I got the grilled chicken (at the recommendation of the server), chorizo y potato and finally barbacoa. I loved them all, but I loved the barbacoa the most! The salas are very spicy, but so well-flavored! After reading other reviews, it seems like this is just not a place with quick service. And that's fine! I was hangry when I got there, which was my own problem. The staff were all very kind!

Pretty decent authentic Mexican food, but a VERY hard to find restaurant. Because there is no lighting outside and is right next to a sketchy abandoned warehouse like building, I wasn't sure I was in the right place whenever my GPS told me to turn in. Walking inside, I was super surprised. They were able to go from a dark, plain exterior to a super colorful and festive interior with Spanish music blaring through multiple TVs next to the bar. Our waitress was very nice and gave great recommendations and I ordered one lengua taco and one chorizo taco both with their handmade tortilla. They came pretty fast and were pretty much the standard for Mexican in atl - tacos were around $2 (there's an up charge for the handmade tortilla and honestly I would just stick to a regular one), the lengua was melt in your mouth chewy, and the chorizo was slightly spicy. The one thing that this restaurant has that is better than any other Mexican restaurant I've been to is their red hot sauce which packs a nice kick and is still flavorful! In the future I will definitely be back if I'm in the area!

My boyfriend and I had a timeeeee! I forget our server's name but he was amazing. He got to us before we could get to the front counter. He was the sweetest thing ever! We ordered the molcajete and fajitas as well as two nice drinks. Mine was the texas margarita and his was a strawberry and Bacardi drink I think. Nice presentation. They have my favorite hot sauces, the el yucateco ones in all the different flavors at the table. Of course they give complimentary chips & salsa. We had so much fun and the drinks were strong enough to get us tipsy lol we said to the server "do you have cash app or something? We wanna tip you" he replied that the establishment has one, and he wouldn't take one for himself. Look at this level of integrity! It was a beautiful thing. We will be back.

Doesn't look like much when you drive by, but I had to check it out. It's is a hole in the wall place, but oh man is it full of surprises. The interior. The murals are all hand painted. They are very well done. I am am talking about all the walls. The interior is clean, just not a trendy high class area. People come here for the food. The food. The tacos are amazing. They have some exotic meats. Keeps it interesting. I didn't try. The pina estillo el Viejon was very good and cheesy. I will definitely be back when I am in the area. The price is very good. I didn't have any alcoholic drinks, and my bill was cheap. It's a great place, great price with good food.

The restaurant outside looks somewhat small and insignificant but inside they have these murals that are wonderful! The place is not huge but still feels open enough for large groups. The servers were super polite and helpful, that is always a plus and the food portions were pretty huge but I have to confess I felt the food was just so so. My brother loved the place and he took us but I was not as impressed. Everything felt either too bland or too salty..... no real in between. Maybe I just went on a bad day and would not be opposed to going back but I was not a big fan for the first time.

We were seated really quickly, and taken straight to a table in the covered patio area. Every seatback had a beautiful blanket in case it got chilly. We weren't given menus and the host disappeared without explaining that the menu was QR code only. We realized this and pulled up the menu, but it didn't allow us to place the order so we waited (longer than is typical) for a server. Eventually she came, and our food started arriving shortly after ordering. Bar drinks took a lot longer. We didn't see the server again, but tried the QR code again and found we could pay online. Without anyone to ask for to-go boxes, we took our plates to the bar and asked there. It all felt a bit awkward; self-service is fine, but this hybrid model was just frustrating. None of the servers we tried to flag made eye contact. This model needs much better staff training to work.

I didn't try a normal taco, so not sure if there's a notable difference in the tortilla, but I thought the pastor taco was solid as well. I felt like perhaps it was lacking a little in flavor? They have quickly become my favorite place to get Mexican food. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They are located on Buford Highway in a small shopping plaza. The lot is medium sized, but they are sharing it with a few other businesses, and depending on the night it could definitely be hard to find a spot so keep that in mind. Venue and Atmosphere The venue is decently sized with both booths and regular tables. There are beautiful paintings hung all over, and the decorations that make you feel like you've stepped into a little part of Mexico. Atmosphere is super casual and comfortable. Food and drinks Now the menu here is massive. Take your time and prepare to be overwhelmed, because everything sounds amazing. Here's a breakdown of what we got each time. 1st visit - El Rey Del Taco Parrillada It's meant to be shared with two people, and comes with a pound of beef ribs, your choice of chicken or al pastor meat, six shrimp wrapped in bacon, with melted cheese and chorizo, plus tortillas and charro beans. It was just as delicious as it sounds. 2nd visit - Tacos The pastor con queso and the shrimp al pastor with cheese, onions, and al pastor sauce. You're welcome. 3rd visit - Fajitas Fajitas Texanas, with steak chicken and shrimp. There are 7 different combinations of sides that you can get. We got white rice, salad, and charro beans. This can also be shared, which my wife and I did. Speaking of the charro beans, they have the best beans I have ever had. For drinks I got the supreme regular mango margarita. My wife got strawberry. Both great. Service Food came out fast, but other than that the service was a little slow. Our waitress was nice, but it did seem that she forgot about us for a little while. The food was so good that I forgave it, plus at the end of the day I got everything I needed. Verdict If you're looking for amazing food and drinks, this is absolutely the place to get it. It just might end up being your favorite too! Until next time!

If I'm paying $19, I expect a flawless burrito. I was also confused as to why the menu labeled the item as langostino. It was a normal shrimp and quite deceptive to call it langostino (which translates to langoustine from Spanish). For the record, for a $19 burrito, I only received 3 "langostino" or "giant shrimp" which really was just a regular shrimp nestled in semi-cooked rice and bean. I did get 2 thin slices of avocado. The tacos taquero de bonemarrow was a simple taco with a side of bone marrow. For $28, I'd expect something with more substance and frankly, a little more seasoning. Tacos were quite bland and I luckily had a packet of salt in the car. The bone marrow was nice, but I wouldn't consider 4 small tacos and 1 bone marrow to be equivalent to $28. I saw good reviews online and wanted to try this place out to see Mexican food outside of CA. This place is mediocre and I'm certain there are other better places one can venture to in Atlanta. Service was okay. I called for takeout and paid in advance for my order. Parking is in an apartment complex building (maybe?) and you do have to walk out to find the store.

Holy tacos! I stumbled across Rreal tacos when looking for places to eat in Sandy Springs and I am…read moreso glad I did. We were greeted immediately upon walking in and there were so many people I was nervous we weren't going to be able to eat there, but looks were deceiving and there were more tables in the back. We sat outside on a cool day and they had heaters going. Our server was super nice for our first time and brought fresh salsa and chips. I ordered a trio of tacos so I could try a few, the tacos were phenomenal. The meat was seasoned well and plentiful in the taco. I wanted to like the chimichurri taco more, but like some others have mentioned the meat was a bit big when trying to get a bite. We needed to leave to get to the venue and once mentioning our time crunch the server pointed us in the best direction and let us out the back door. Food was great and quick, service excellent, and I would 10/10 come back again.

Ordered the shrimp tacos, beef barbacoa, beef birria taco, pork carnitas, beef consome, guac chips, tres leches. Our first time, ordered the taco feast and the birria pizza and it was soo much food. This is our third time and it's quickly becoming our favorite. We've already told a ton of our friends about this place!! The waiter Alex was nice and did apologize that the consome came out first; it did surprise us haha I have a gripe though; we were going to order a dessert but he told us that my birthday tres leches dessert would be on the house. When we got home, realized he charged us for it. A real shame. We tipped extra/24% because of the free dessert. We learned our lesson for being too trusting. 3/5 Update: Ariadna the assistant manager contacted me and remedied the situation by comping the dessert and appetizer. I appreciate her timeliness and her being succinct. Switched to 5/5
